Converting files to playable format

I have been trying to convert music that I bought to MP3 or MP4, so my Zune can play them, but I can't seem to do it. I have tried burning the music to a disc and then re-ripping it, but none of the programs that I rip with recognize any of the iTunes files.
How do I do this? I am frustrated to say the least.

You can burn them to an audio CD.

When you burn an audio CD, it is a standard audio CD.

    BTW
    - PDF sucks. It is designed for printing, and I (for one) don't want to kill more trees, and have no printer.
    - This subject (convert file to PDF) has been discussed on the forums a bazillion times. Did you search the forums before asking your two (very closely related) questions?

  • ITunes 11...converting files to MP3 Format

I podcast using Garageband, then share the file with iTunes, where I use the advanced menu to convert to MP3...However with the latest upgrade to iTunes 11 the advanced menu is gone...so I can't see how to convert that file to a MP3 format...it seems to be gone...I need some help to see if this still can be done.  Any tips?

Ok, I am not sure if you missed my post or were trying to help too many people at the same time. I am reposting my problem....but nevermind about helping now as I figured it out via other helpful channels.
First email before I clarified my question on how to be able to transfer an mps file into Itunes:
Hi there, I have a few mp3 files that I am trying to convert to the Itunes format but once I select the following, it is not imported. I have checked several threads but it hasnt helped me.
File/Add file to library/"I select the mps file from its location on my desktop" and then just a blink happens but I do not see the file imported. I have searched for any untitled folders by album, song name but it doesnt import.
Then, I saw this post and did the following:
Edit/Preferences/General/Import Settings (clicked on it), and selected MP3 Encoder with the high quality option (however I notice it says, befor ethe drop down: When you import a CD..but I am not importing a CD, just a few files. But there is no other place I can do this for single files or a folder.
    Thanks but no thanks.
Have a good day. Maybe the folks that rated you actually got help from you which is completely reasonable.

  • How can I use Automator to batch convert files of various formats into pdf files?

I am very much a novice.  I need to convert approximately 10,000 documents into pdf format.  (No, I'm not exaggerating.)  I have searched and found various Applescripts that will do it for Word documents, but have even been unsuccessful using those.  Each of my attempts ends up with some sort of error.
The documents are in mixed formats:  Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OpenOffice (.odt), and .jpeg,   I even have some Clarisworks/Appleworks files, but those I'm happy to deal with separately if need be.

  • Converting files to iPod format troubles.

When i go to convert my files into the iPod format, it starts exporting it but it always stops at either 8% or 9% Is anyone else having the same problem? I've reinstalled quicktime and it didnt help. Can someone help me with this please.

Hey. If you let it sit for a while, it'll go past 8 or 9%. But it goes very slow. Unfortunately, I havent had a single file to work yet. It's really making me upset. I've had some get all the way through and I can watch the video but there's no sound. Let me know if you get anywhere with this.

  • Converting files to mp4 format

Can someone tell me why the files I'm converting to mp4 format have no sound? They are originally AVI files and after converting to mp4 I figured out that there's no sound. Any solution?

You mentioned that you didn't see any mp3 codec in my library. Is it an additional component besides Perian?
As I attempted to explain earlier, I do have an MP3 specific components installed in my main root library but am not sure that is being used. Basically is is dated December of 2002 and I don't remember what application may have installed it originally. My MIME settings are set to use QT for MP3. Since it has never caused a conflict, I have left it installed. As to Perian, did you read the Perian Support page which recommends the removal of outdated XviD components when Perian is installed as there can be a conflict between the two. However, I am not sure what constitutes an "outdated" XviD component. In any case, you may wish to review this page.
If yes, where I can get one? Maybe this is the solution of my problem.
As I said, I am not sure of the source for my component so I cannot really provide more information at this time.

  • Converting files to a format that can be used in FCE HD

I am trying to make a home movie. I downloaded a disney movie that I want to use clips from as part as my home movie. With the file in its current format XXX.m4v I can't do it? Any suggestions on how I can get around this?

FCE only works in DV or HDV, either NTSC or PAL. If the material is small, web format video, it'll have to be scaled up to conform to DV, and it will look pretty ugly.

  • Can Indesign CS5 convert files for use on Kindle?

    Hello,
Have any of you converted books for use on Kindle, and if so, how did you do it, and did it go smoothly? Please explain in "dummies" terms, as I find this topic to be very confusing.
If I convert files to ePub format in Ind. CS5, is this all I need to do to convert it to a format that can be used on a Kindle reader? Would this work for graphics as well as text?
Internet searches about this gave info for an older version, CS4, and seemed to require using supplemental software to successfully convert to Kindle format.
    Thanks for any advice.
    L

Yes, going to EPUB and then Kindle seems to be the best route.
    A few suggestions.
    1.       Upgrade to CS6. EPUB capabilities have been dramatically improved.
    2.       Buy some good books EPUB. I suggest these two Liz Castro’s books for a start: http://amzn.to/LI9Q5b and  http://amzn.to/LIa38o
    3.       Visit Liz’s blog: http://www.pigsgourdsandwikis.com/
    4.       Check out Ann Marie Concepcion’s excellent Lynda.com titles. This link will get you a one week trial: http://bit.ly/fcGpiI
Finally, you need to get at least a beginner’s grasp of HTML and CSS. Without that, quite frankly, you’re screwed.

  • System shutting down when converting files

Downloaded 7.5.0.20 and when I try to convert files into Ipod format from existing WMA my PC goes into uncommanded reboot. Not linked to any other applications that I can see and happens too frequently to be anything else. (Running latest AVG antivirus V7.5.516
Have NEVER had this problem before, and have 23Gb of files in Windows Media Player.
Anyone have any thoughts on what might be conflicting or causing the issue?

Found the problem lay with hardware not software - actually overheating the PC as the chip heatsink was clogged with dust. Strange that nothing else had caused reboot but then again life can be strange.....

  • I finished making an animated .gif image in FireWorks. My question is, how do I convert it into video so that when I edit video, that every video editing program recognizes it? Long story short, How do I convert animated .gif files into video formats?

I worked in Adobe FireWorks to make the animated .gif. What program do I use to convert the file from .gif to any video format: .mp4, .m4v, .avi, .wmv, etc. I want to convert it into video format, so that QuickTime Player plays the video, I can insert it into iMovie '11 and edit, and also insert it into Final Cut Pro X and edit video.

Thanks for getting back with me so promptly.  It has taken me this time to connect with the proper people to find out the information you requested.
The camera used to film the class was a Panasonic AG-HMC40P, owned by a local cable TV station; they use Kodak video encoding software, and a SD card was used to store the video.   The file extension is .mts, and the mime file is MPEG 2 transport.  He said I probably need an AVCHD converter, and the Mac app store lists 8 of those options, 4 free and 4 for up to $9.99.  He said I'll also need a converter for later plans of posting on YouTube or on the website, and while some of those in the app store might work for the later needs, he knows one app called "Compressor" that would work for the uploading later.  He also suggested I could try renaming the .mts file to .MP2T, but he wasn't sure that would work.
They don't work with Macs at the studio, but I had thought I could have some lessons there in editing, and apply what I learned to my iMac and iMovie.
First, though, I have to be able to see it and review it!
    Thanks again!
