CONVERTING FINAL PRODUCT TO FLV FORMAT FOR ZMAG DIGITAL MAGAZINE

I am trying to get my final product into a flv format to send to my bosses to use on our new zmag online digital magazine. I have no clue how to export or convert my final product in final cut pro 6.0.1 to this type of file. I am able to do wmv, mov, avi etc. Can someone help me and explain how I can get my video into flv format?
Thank you sooo much!
Victoria

Smaller files typically equate to lower quality.
With that understanding, you'd lower the video and audio bit rates (trial & error) until you get the size file you want.
Consider Tony's suggestion of making a H.264 file and changing the file descriptor to .flv
H.264 is an excellent codec for internet distribution.

  • Adobe DPS - pop-up panels video tutorial for Indesign Digital Magazine problem?

    Hello Everyone
Trying to get info in a video tutorial for pop-up panels tutorial for a Digital Magazine I'm working on.
Had advice to do a Multi-State Object - but this is exactly what I need it for and would love a video link i(f any is around).
Doing a digital Tech Magazine - have about 12 images on a page.
Want to touch one image and want a pop-up text box with Tech info on this product come up - I want all other images on page to ghost out on doing this - and then I need a button to click to close the panel down and go back to document and ready to click on another picture.
Is there a tutorial online on how to do this. Hope someone has a link pleaae.
    thanks: Daz

Here's the best way to attack this as a beginner.
Create multipage InDesign file with number of pages being equal to the
number of states you want for your MSO.
On the first page design the base state. Copy/paste everything to the second
page and now design the second state.
On and on until you're done. Now group everything on each page and
copy/paste in place everything into one page. Create the MSO.
This is going to give you a pretty heavy file but will give you a good
foundation for the thought process needed to do this.

  • Convert WMV to a video format for iPod?

    Hello,
I have a WMV recording of a Microsoft Live Meeting event. It is 1.5 hours in length, about 31MB and 4 fps. I need to convert it to a video format that can be played on a video iPod. When I try to export as MP4 from Premiere Pro CS4, the file size really balloons. What settings can I use to keep the file size similar to that of the WMV?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
You could try using the Apple iPod Video Small preset in AME under H.264 format after customizing the Target Bitrate and Maximum Bitrate. Try reducing these bitrate values. You could use the Estimated File Size that shows up at the bottom of the AME Settings UI as a rough guide to the final file size.To change the bitrate values, first launch AME Settings UI by clicking on the Settings button in AME batch after selecting the batch item.
    Hope this helps. Thanks.

  • My ole' Premiere program...trying to convert created video into supported format for youtube...

I have the Adobe Premiere 3.0 program...i know, i know...pretty ancient. But hey, it works for the time being...lo. My problem is, i keep creating videos from this program, and am unable to convert it into the format supported by Youtube...HEEELLLPPP!!! The format i am saving it in is, [.prel]. the formats acceptable are; MPE4 format [Divx, Xvid, or SQV3 instead of h. 264] at 640x480 resolution with MP3audio [64k momo]
After reading those stereo instructions, my question is....hoe do I convert an already designed video to fit these specs?
Thanks in advance for your assistance, and I love you all.

    Thanks Hunt, hun.
Been trying to figure this out for some time now. I am not that knowledgeable in the formats for videos being uploaded to different sites, but i am pretty good at creating videos. I am saving them in the format [.prel], and have no iea as to how to convert the format from - .prel, to {any other format}. I am looking on the program, and see no spot for conversion. i also have a program called prism video converter, which was unable to convert the format as wel, due to the fact that they dont support beginning formats of -.prel, as well. So i am within a rock a very very hard place right now. Is there a different program which i could install, which would allow me to convert the premiere videos i have created into another format? i recently downloaded the trial version of premiere pro. I hope this program allows me to take the saved project, and convert it into a usable format. Thanks again for all your assistance hun. Really appreesh it.

  • How to convert Mpeg 2 to usable format for imovie

I have been trying for months, and am completely frustrated. I have a 2x2.8 Ghz Quad Core Tower running 10.6.8.  I have all three imovies installed - Imovie HD, imovie 7.1 and imovie 9. All have the most recent updates. I had trouble importing several HD tapes, using my Canon Vixia HV30 - when I plugged it in, Imovie did not recognize it. After trying several suggestions on apple boards, I finally gave up, and I sent the tapes out to be recorded to an external drive. They came back - several in .mpeg format and 3 in .avi.
I can import the .avi format without difficulty, but not the Mpegs. They are greyed out in imovie. After researching, I purchased and downloaded the Quicktime Mpeg plug-in (for $30 CDN) and also Mpeg Streamclip. When I try to convert using Mpeg Streamclip, the program just freezes at 1% encoded. Perhaps I am not using the proper settings in Streamclip?
Does anyone have a suggestion for how I import these clips into imovies?
I am SO frustrated. All I want to do is edit 2 years worth (about 10 hours?) of home movies in imovie - a presumably simple thing. Does anyone have any suggestions?

You need to convert the VOB files in the TS-Folder of the DVD back to DV which iMovie is designed to handle.
a DVD is in a compresed format called mpeg2, which is standard across all DVDs. This is what is known as a 'final delivery format' and is not suitable for editing. Because is is compressed, a 4.7GB DVD can hold a two hour movie (dual layer DVDs twice that), whereas the DV stream from a video camera, which runs at about 13GB per hour, is not compressed and IS intended for editing.
In other words you have to 'reverse engineer' the DVD back to an uncompressed format in ordfer to edit it. There is a penalty for doing this in terms of slight quality loss, but it is one you can live with.
When you have your DVD as an icon on your desktop, double-click it, and it will open to reveal a TS-Folder containing a number of various files, some called VOB. These are the constituent parts of any video DVD.
When you have downloaded and installed mpegStreamclip, and purchased and installed the Apple mpeg2 plugin, open mpegStreamclip and drag the entire TS Folder into its window. Then using the various menus available to you (just explore them and you will get the hang of it) ask it to convert to DV.
That DV file, which will be many times larger than the original TS Folder, and which can a while to create (be patient - make coffee or prune the roses!) is what you can now import into iMovie for editing etc.
When you have finished doing that, you then have to turn the project back into a DVD.
mpegStreamclip can be downloaded from here:
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/video/mpegstreamclip.html
which is free, but you must also have the  Apple mpeg2 plugin :
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/mpeg2/
    which is a mere $20.
Another possibility is to use DVDxDV:
    http://www.dvdxdv.com/NewFolderLookSite/Products/DVDxDV.overview.htm
    which costs $25.
For the benefit of others who may read this thread:
Obviously the foregoing only applies to DVDs you have made yourself, or other home-made DVDs that have been given to you. It will NOT work on copy-protected commercial DVDs, which in any case would be illegal.

  • Can't convert my itunes to mp3 format for my LYRA MP3 player

I purchashed a mp3 player for my son. We have approximately 177 itunes I have purchased in my library. I can not convert them to mp3 format so I can download on player. Dialog box reads "files are protected and format can not be changed". Please help. I have paid for these tunes and would hate to do so again.

I'm not sure I completely follow what it is you are trying to do, but it strikes me you're making it more complicated than need be.
iTunes imports files in the format set in your preferences.  If you want to import as other than mp3 then set the other format in your preferences.
iTunes is also set by default to put a copy of tracks you add into your iTunes folder.  You can unset this in preferences (I have this unset) but most people don't because it kind of messes up file management.  You can also temporarily disable it for files you are dragging to iTunes by holding the option key.  If you use iTunes for converting it will add them to iTunes - that's the way it behaves. I often use non-iTunes applications such as Max or XLD for doing my conversions (you also get to use the LAME codec for mp3 which some consider better than iTunes).
You can add a column to your lists display which is format, or just go by the file size or bit rate display columns.  While not definitive, I can usually depend upon files saying 128k bitrate or 3 MB in size to be mp3 (I have almost no AAC tracks) vs. AIFFwhich would have much higher bitrate and much bigger files.
If you have mp3 files and want to put them on a flash drive, highlight the items you want to add (it could be a whole playlist) and drag this from the iTunes window to the flash drive in a Finder window.

  • Converting midi files to wav format for burning CD

I've searched for a good mac application that will allow me to convert midi files (saved from my clavinova 170) to a floppy, to wav format so that I can burn a standard audio CD. Can someone help me out?
    Brent
    powerbook g4   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

This is a bit complicated, conceptually.
You see, MIDI files do not contain sound or audio.
MIDI files are kind of like sheet music. They contain instructions that a synthesizer or sampler can use to play music. But MIDI files don't contain the sound itself.
Open up a blank GarageBand document, and drag your MIDI file into the window. GarageBand will attempt to select sounds for all the musical instrument tracks in your MIDI file. You can then save the file, do any necessary editing, and export the GarageBand file as an AIFF file, which you can transfer to iTunes for burning to a CD.

  • Convert to uLAW 2:1 format for WAV

I noticed on apple's compressor 3 site that uLAW 2:1 is supported for audio output. How do I convert to this format using compressor 3? I've imported to compressor 3 my WAV file and now I want to convert to uLAW 2:1. Any ideas/thoughts?
    Thanks in advance.

It appears you forgot "Format String.vi" I've converted all the others but it will only work if you have the format string vi saved in 7.1 or earlier, if you don't please upload that so it too can be converted.

  • How to convert .avi files to .mov format for use in FCE ?

    Hi guys,
I need to import an avi file into FCE. How do I convert it to mov format ?
    Thanks

i am in the same boat. i have a canon G9 and automatically downloaded to iphoto without thinking. the videos i extracted seem to be .avi. what do i have to do to edit them in FCE4? i tried to convert them with prism, the video is messed up. i tried to put them into imovie instead, it won't let me do any effects on them. it's so confusing bc it lets the videos load in, or so i thought, but then it won't let me do anything to them? what do i do?

  • I need help making a popup menu activate a customized lightbox for a digital magazine/publication.

I'm not much of a programmer since my experience is in animation, but I need to make a popup window link to/activate a lightbox. I did well just to get the button to make the popup work since I have no programming experience! So now, on to something a little more complex for me! A button is basically supposed to bring up a menu (which I got to work) and the menu is supposed to have links that the user can click on to open up a lightbox similar to the one that opens up on the first click of this example: http://viewer.zmags.com/publication/e9dd9178?viewType=pubPreview#/e9dd9178/1
These were the instructions I was given, but I'm not sure where to even place this code! Please help!
For example for Brides/Target this looks like this:
    if (window.location.host.indexOf("brides.com") !== -1) {
                document.domain = "brides.com";
            $('.productImages1').click(function() {
                openLightbox("http://www.target.com/p/riedel-vivant-champagne-flutes-set-of-4/-/A-10077709#prodSlot=medi um_1_1&term=200-03-1024?ref=tgt_adv_XC&afid=d_brides&cpng=2013weddingregistry&DFA=1");
                trackEvent("show", {page: 19, id: 'A-10077709', name: 'riedel-vivant-champagne-flutes-set-of-4'});    //_gaq.push(['_trackEvent', 'Target Advertisment', 'Show', 'Page 19 - item 1']); });

I was also given this information, but since I can't really read or write code, this means nothing to me. Is this something I can paste in the stages action panel or on the actual buttons that I'm wanting to call up the lightboxes? I like Edge because it seems to be easy and user friendly for creative/non-programmers like myself, but this is getting a bit complex for me. How can I go about this without having to code HTML5 from scratch?
In the header of the HMTL file, you'll need to add a reference to the Zmags API.
    Example in Header
    <script src="//secure.api.viewer.zmags.com/widgets/iframe.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    Example with Javascript section:
<script type="text/javascript">  // Opens the specified url in a lightbox, and applies the supplied css to it, if any; otherwising defaulting to the // standard width and height for the lightbox. To explicitly close the lightbox, call close() on the returned lightbox. function openLightbox(url, css) { return window.parent.parent.com.zmags.ps.widget.openLightbox(url, css || {"width": "100%", "max-width": 1010, "height": 780}); } // Shares the specified url on the given network, with optional title and image. This will automatically trigger // tracking of the shared url, so no need to do so here. function shareUrl(network, url, image, title) { return window.parent.parent.com.zmags.ps.widget.sharing.shareUrl('widget', network, url, title || 'Check out this product from Target', image); } // Tracks the logical action, e.g. "show", "overview" event, with the supplied arguments. The actual event action/label // formatting is handled by the Zavior configuration, and can have values injected, like if "args" = {page: 7, name: 'foo', id: 'bar', item: 1}, // a configured label can utilise these data like "${page}" and "${item}". function trackEvent(action, args) { if (!args) { args = {}; } return window.parent.parent.com.zmags.ps.widget.trackEvent("google_analytics", action, args); } if (window.location.host.indexOf("brides.com") !== -1) { document.domain = "brides.com"; } $('.productImages1').click(function() { openLightbox("http://www.target.com/p/giada-de-laurentiis-for-target-6-qt-cast-iron-dutch-oven/-/A-11992 552#prodSlot=medium_1_1&term=11992552?ref=tgt_adv_XC&afid=d_brides&cpng=2013weddingregistr y&DFA=1"); trackEvent("show", {page: 8, id: 'A-11992552', name: 'giada-de-laurentiis-for-target-6-qt-cast-iron-dutch-oven'}); //_gaq.push(['_trackEvent', 'Target Advertisment', 'Show', 'Page 8 - item 1']); }); $('#activateBtn').click(function() { document.getElementById('activateBtn').style.visibility = 'hidden'; //trackEvent("overview", {page: 8}); $('#big_wrapper').animate({ left: '+=100%' }, 1000, function() { //do nothing }); }); $('#deactivateBtn').click(function() { $('#big_wrapper').animate({ left: '-=100%' }, 1000, function() { document.getElementById('activateBtn').style.visibility = 'visible'; }); }); </script>

  • Can't convert to FLV format like I used to

I have a QuickTime Pro license and I am up-to-date. I used to be able to convert an avi file to flv format for use in Adobe Flash. Now I get an error saying "Wildform Flix Exporter encountered a problem. This version of Flix Exporter is not licensed to run under the current application." What's up with that? How do I now convert to FLV format? Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is the primary reason I upgraded to QuickTime Pro in the first place. Plus, I find trying to get to the right place to even ask this question to be extremely time consuming and frustrating. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

QuickTime Pro has never exported to Flash video without third party software.
Seems like your "Flix Exporter" ( http://www.on2.com/index.php?316 ) is that third party application.

  • Having trouble converting dvd-rw vr to a format for idvd 3

    Hi,
Can anyone tell me how to convert my dvd-rw vr dvd i burned to a format I can edit in either idvd 3 or imovie 3? I have mpeg stream clip but it is a bit confusing for this novice.

What does "vr" refer to? To convert DVD files you'll need to have Apple's mpeg plugin ($20 if you haven't purchased it as part of Apple's pro software, etc.) along with MPEG Streamclip. Here's an article about the alternatives:

  • How do I convert a .swf to .flv

    Hi,
I'm currently developing content for a flash e-learning
environment that requires .flv extension. I'm using Captivate 3 for
the task of creating the content, but have not found a way to
export or convert the .swf output of Captivate to make it .flv
I'm totally at a loss - can anyone help?

I'm not sure this will help, but what I know is that the FLV
format is designed for streaming or progressive download of video
from the server to the user's browser by converting it to the flv
format via an import procedure into a Flash doc. Normally I use
Flash to import a movie into a Flash file layer, add a sound layer
for, say, a background music loop, on another layer and publish it
as a swf and flv, using the Component Inspector to set the rewind
    to "true" or "false".
This process creates two required files: the final swf and an
flv which calls the swf when the page opens or other event occurs
on the web page. The user experience is absent the jerky appearance
that often occurs from swf alone or movies alone.
The video component that is imported into my Flash doc as
described in my first paragraph above, can either be a .mov from
anywhere or one I create in Flash and export as an .mov
I don't know about formats other than .mov I think it depends
on your final deployment, i.e. web, dvd, whatever.
I have not used captivate, but if it will create a .mov for
you, should do it. You may have, however, other controls to build
in as well. Flash 8 and above allows you to do that in the process
    of creating the .flv
Then, you must load the .flv and swf onto the server at the
same level. Or, you must make other code changes so the flv "finds"
the swf. A different path can be entered using the Component
    Inspector in Flash.
    Hope that helps.

  • Need to read Hex data format for Handheld device. (SAP AII RFID )

    Hello,
we developed a custom screens for packing, unpacking, tag commission.. etc for handheld device for my client. the Serial number field  type is /ain/barcode. Its working fine. but for the new system need to read the Hex format. I created a new field in the screen. but the handheld device is not reading the Serial number in Hex format.
Could anyone suggest me how to read Hex data in Handheld devices. We are using Motorola MC9090 Series.
    Regards,
    Kamal

    Hi
Are you using the reader to read an RFID tag or for reading barcodes.
Ideally, if you read an EPC Gen2 RFID tag, for example, the 96 bit encoded EPC is read and that can be converted to its equivalent  HEX format for posting the observation to SAP AII.
In case of barcodes, the string is read as is printed on the barcode.
