Converting .fla or .swf to .mov (Quicktime)

I've read the thread about Quicktime 7.3.1 which I have not supporting Flash files. That being said, is there anyway to open a .swf or .fla file and convert to .mov to be used with Final Cut Pro?
Thanks in advance,
Shelley

If you have the Perian component. You can open a flv in quicktime and then export it to a format/code that FCP understands.
http://perian.org/
Quicktime no longer allows flash track. Meaning, you can't open .swf in Qt. Even if the flash track track is version 5 or below.
You can open a .swf in the Flash program and then export it to Quicktime movie.

Print the reviewer the original document the course content
was initially built from if they want it in print format. To expect
a flash SWF to print the same way as a Microsoft Word document way
is just stupid, think of the SWF's timeline and number of
movieclips (and movieclips within movieclips) and how much
information can be contained within it and how it might not always
be in a linear format (eg. like a Word Doc) = your answer which is
Flash is designed for online delivery of rich media content, where
Microsoft Word is designed for printing.

  • How to convert .fla to .swf from cli

I am working on a project where we want to parameterize certain variables of a flash file. The idea is: we create a script which replaces the parameters in the .fla file.
The question is: How can I convert that file to a .swf using a script or batch file.
(I know how to do it with CS4 Flash etc., but I do not want to open it at all, the entire process should be executed programatically).
I have found many software to convert swf to fla, but not the other way around.
    Thanks for your help

To create an swf from an fla you need software that can compile the fla file, and you can probably guess what that software is.

  • Convert .fla or .swf to a print file?

Our reviewers want to see online courses in a print format.
Is there any way to export a Flash course (all frames) into a PDF
or other printable file? The only way I know is to screen capture
each frame (ugh!), which is inefficient at best.
I downloaded the trial version of FlashPaper, and this does
not do what I need it to -- it converts only one frame of Flash
into a .pdf, and its primary function is to convert printable docs
into a format that Flash can use.
Any and all suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks.

  • FLA or SWF -- MOV or AVI conversion?

I have searched the forums already and could not come up with a definitive answer. I understand that the latest QuickTime update broke SWF compatibility, but are there any other solutions, either commercial or not, for converting SWFs or FLAs into a movie file - either MOV, AVI, or whatever else? We can pay for the software if it's out there. Google searches yielded only Winblows garbage. Starting up in a previous OS version is also not an option.
Basically, we need to get our Flash movies onto DVDs quickly, and repeatedly. Maybe you folks have other ideas for doing that... ?
    Thanks all!

You can use either Quicktime Pro or Mpeg-Streamclip to convert the flv's to .mov.
    Mpeg-Streamclip.

For Quicktime Pro you'll need this component:

As for .swf, I have no idea. Since Quicktime plays a factor in some programs to convert swf to .mov. I have the flash program so it not a problem for me to convert them.

After I upgraded to Mavericks, Quicktime has had to convert MPEG-4 videos to .mov.... Why? Is there a way to stop that or to change the settings?
Your question requires more information. What does MPEG-4 mean to you? What file container and which compression formats are you referring to here? Is the MPEG-4 content "standard" or proprietary. Basically, depending on the file container and the specific content, QT X v10.3 may initiate a conversion ever where the individual data tracks are fully QT compatible. Proprietary compression formats will definitely do this. In some cases, the audio or video in one source container may simply be passed through to the MOV file while in another source container, QT X v10.3 forces a conversion of that same data track. In short, there are too many variables at this point to properly answer your question or attempt to duplicate your workflow.

  • Converting .fla to .mov to .mp4 for imbedding in Powerpoint

    Hello,
I've been running into issues with the compression of my flash animations when imbedding them into powerpoint. The .mov files provide sharp playback, but after they are converted to mp4, the resolution drops. I need mp4 files so that the movies are compatible with both Mac and PC versions of powerpoint. I have changed the settings to increase the frames per second, and have the highest qualities selected when converting from .mov to .mp4 without luck.
Does anyone have any advice for this issue? Is there a better way to convert .fla to .mp4 for PC Powerpoint compatibility?
    Thanks!

I happily landed on this question-item in my quest for for ways to  generate MP4 from a FLA files...but now that I am here....:
I agree. I think this is a relevant question.
    Kind regards,

  • Recently upgraded from Snow Leopard to Lion then Mavericks. I have Final Cut Express and when I export to Quicktime, and open to play the movie, Quicktime starts to "convert" it? What is this about????

Recently upgraded from Snow Leopard to Lion then Mavericks. I have Final Cut Express and when I export to Quicktime, and open to play the movie, Quicktime starts to "convert" it? What is this about????

My existing movies are all the following types straight from FinalCut
    Apple Intermediate Codec, 1920 × 1080, Millions
16-bit Integer (Little Endian), Stereo, 48.000 kHz
This particular movie is 6.66 Gb
The new Quicktime player in OS Mavericks converts these to the following format:
    Apple ProRes 422, 1920 x 1080
Linear PCM, 16 bit little-endian signed integer, 2 channels, 48000 Hz
And a movie size of 6.48 Gb
Please, please can someone tell me why?

  • FLA or SWF to HTML5 Conversion

I am trying to figure out the best way to convert an existing site (90% Flash / SWF) to HTML5, so that it works on the iPhone and iPad (or other mobile devices).
So far, I have decided Flash CS6 with the CreativeJS Toolkit is the route to go.
Someone (at Adobe) mentioned Dreamweaver CS5.5 can do it (convert the FLA or SWF to HTML5).
I have not found this to be true.
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions for me?

    hey, chadXSO
I want to know that have you ever resolved your problem, and I believe that you have done!
Could you tell me which tool that you used? Now I have the same problem(the best way to convert an existing site (90% Flash / SWF) to HTML5, so that it works on the iPhone and iPad (or other mobile devices).), and someone asked me to convert swf files to html5 video, so i found this tool-swf to html5 movie maker, but i don't know how to use it, and can you tell me the tool you use? or you could tell me how to use this tool for our same question.

  • .swf to .mov

Can Adobe Endor iport and convert a Flash .swf file to a .mov (QuickTime)?

    Ann, thanks.
Ryan, just FYI, if you don't have Premiere, you don't have Encore. (But I still suspect this thread involving Premiere, AME, and AE, does not involve Encore! Its an integrated suite; we don't mind!)
    The AE help info says:
SWF (continuously rasterized) Note:  SWF files are imported with an alpha channel. Audio is not retained. Interactive content and scripted animation are not retained. Animation defined by keyframes in the main, top-level movie is retained.
    The Premiere note is similar:
Note:  SWF files may be imported with an alpha channel. Audio is not retained. Interactive content and scripted animation are not retained. Animation defined by keyframes in the main, top-level movie is retained.
