you need a third party to help you complete the progress, such as

Not it's only function but one for which it was most admirably suited, which is why I really hope someone can find a work around. I am hoping my post to the Apple feedback may prompt a useful response from Apple and I live in hope that my post here will elicit a useful response from another user. I did not miss the the text at the top of the feedback form but you presumably missed my initial text, 'someone here can explain' or my subsequent 'work around from another user'
Just in case anyone reading this has a large collection of music videos, video podcasts or iTunes U then DO NOT upgrade your iPad to iOS 5. If you are considering purchasing the iPad as a useful mobile device to experience these media organised in your iTunes please don't as you will be wasting your money. (unless someone on this forum knows of a way to undo the mess created by those infallible folks at Apple)

Source file = .flv downloaded from Twitch TV
Need = to convert the .flv file to a format that I can edit in Final Cut Pro 10.0.6
End Result Desired = to posted editted version in format that will play on YouTube
When I download the .flv file, the audio and video play fine in Adoble Flash Player. I have tried just ablout every .flv converter I can find and all convert the .flv video to H.264 or other formats, but the Audio is never included. I cannot figure out why the audio does not come over.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

For the first question,
because Final Cut Pro uses QuickTime technology, almost any QuickTime-compatible file format can be imported and exported. well, you mentioned that the end result is to posted onto YouTube at last, so i recommend you use .mp4 format (can be supported both on FCP and YouTube) as output file.
I dont know what OS you are using, if you are using windows, you can use handbrake or freemake (both are free) to do that job well. Or you have a Mac computer, you may refer to guide here to convert .flv files to an mp4. I haven't done this in a long while, but it works fine for me before. Hope it works.
For the second question,
you mean that the audio file is never output along with video. one reason for that is may the flv file codec is designed by different development team. you said you have tried just every .flv converter, can list them out? maybe some of tools (excluded from them) i know can shows you.

I'm a recent convert from Windows. I doubt if this is the right place to post this question but I have no idea which discussion group is correct.
I did a search and found nothing on this topic.
I don't even know if Macs use .mp3 files or some other format.
I'm not even sure how to play my old .mp3 files or if I have to convert them to something else.
I'll got hundreds of old CD's that I ripped on my previous computer so I guess I need to that again. Where do I start to do that.

What happens if you insert one of your disk, right click on it's desktop image and then select "Open With" iTunes or QuickTime?

Adobe Media Encoder CS4 converted FLV files have sound but no picture

It would be great if anyone can help - I am using the latest trial version of Flash CS4. I have used the Media Encoder to convert mpg4 files to FLV however the resultant files play with sound but no picture - just a black screen. Is there a solution to this issue?

mostly this problem is caused by lacking of
some nessery codec. Which means when reencoding your video to flv, it can not generate the video.
Does Riva FLV encoder needs any extra codec? I am using Moyea Flash Video MX 6. It do not need any extra code. It needs in the former versions but in version 6 it can convert nearly any video format now.

I've been reading so many different forums on how to convert FLV to MOV. Finally, I summarized three solutions:
First one: HandBrake . This tool is a free and open-source multi-threaded transcoding app.
Cons:
1. HandBrake is too professional to handle for most people;
2. It doesn't support MOV as output format.
Second one: there are many third party software which supports converting FLV to MOV.I highly recommend iDealshare VideoGo which can batch convert FLV to MOV much easier, faster on Mac or Windows Cons:
1. Most of them are not free.
Third one: Online-Converter . This kind of converter does a great job on file conversion.
Cons:
1. Like most online converters, the free version of this tool only allows you to convert videos smaller than 100MB. It's too small for video conversion;
2.Your MKV video should be upload to the internet to be converted. This means the risk of pravite information leak is possible.

Converting m4v files to WMV

I'm know you all can help me with info about converting m4v files to something compatible with PCs. I use a Mac and create our home movies in m4v files to post on mobile me website but most of our family and friends are on PC and cannot view the videos.

Flip4Mac works fine with movies from iMovie 08 and 09. But you have to first create the m4v file as usual. Then you convert it to wmv using QuickTIme Pro or MPEG Streamclip (which is awesome and free).

Try it if you haven't. They do have a free trial offer so you can test converting that file but I believe you can only convert 5 movies w/ the free trial version. Make sure after you download that you have version 2.1.4. If not just close it and open it again & the window will open telling you there is an updated version. I am using this software and it has been working great to convert files other software would not convert.

Converting flv file

I have a flv file from a youtube download of my cousins holiday video which he wants me to edit
I want to edit in iMovie
I did a 10 second test and can produce a movie file which played OK in player.
The conversion is not as good as the original so looking at the QT export settings I am unsure what the appropriate settings should be
in QT export settings what do I select?
video settings
compression - DV PAL (is this OK for iMovie?)
quality - best
scan mode - interlaced or progressive ( how do I find out what the original video is?)
Video size - deinterlace source yes or no?

Quicktime cannot convert a Flash video.
For that you need mpegStreamclip:

Converting mov file to wmv

I have a new imac, about a month old. I've upgraded to QuickTime Pro. When I try to export a mov file to a wmv format, the resulting wmv movie plays but it's not the entire movie. Any thoughts?

Did you actually purchase the upgrade for F4M? And did it activate? You can check that within the F4M prefs under the Upgrade tab.
In trial mode, the functionality is limited to 1/2 the duration of a clip, up to 30 seconds.
If you did upgrade, and are still having problems, get in touch with [email protected], or call them...there's an 800 number somewhere. One other option is to get onto their user forum HERE. Might be best to take this topic over to their forum anyway......post back if you find anything interesting that other users should know about.

Make connect presentation offline and convert flv

I have a problem with converting flv files from connect presentations. 1 of my clients wants to have his adobe connect meeting as a wmv or avi file.
So i saved this presentation from the server to my laptop (make offline, save flv file)
What i noticed is that audio is not separated. When importing this flv file in adobe premiere or soundbooth or the mediaencoder, there is no sound(track) in non of this programs.
The next step i took from what i'v read from a forum is to buy 4Media 'Audio Converter Pro' and convert the audio. So far it works but when importing the audio and video file in adobe premiere i see that my
audio file is about 5minutes shorter 01:05:09 in comparison to my videofile 01:10:49. So i thought: 'this is a frequency issue'. But when i checked the flv file it says that its 44.1 Khz and
the converted file is the same. Can somebody tell me how to solve this problem.

Thanks for your reply! But the problem is that when i convert to wmv i get just a video... Lets say that when i export my keynote to quicktime, i can do it so when i open it on quicktime i can just click and the presentation would pass as if i was on keynote. But when i convert it to windows media and open it, it would just go through as if it was a video...

I will try to answer both questions. You abviously know how
to creat an .FLV file. when you load you files on the server you
must place the .SWF and the .FLV in the same folder. With that you
will create your link to the .SWF file.
In regards to the other issue. I am incline to think that
what you see is a video effect and not a Flash one. If I where to
try this I would upload my video into the time line and add a new
layor to hold my effect. This should do it. But it will of course
make you .SWF larger than if you did the effect in a video editing
program.
