  • What program to install and convert video formats...?

I am trying to find a program that will install on 10.3.9 and that can convert video formats (ie mpg and mp4 to wmv). Any suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated. I did buy a newer Mac (PowerBook G4 with Leopard) but for now need to use my old Mac. I need to convert to WMV to use on my GoGear mp3 player, which is NOT Mac compatible, only Windows. How I miss my iPod Thanks again for any help.

Well ffmpeg should be included by default. It is the core of the VH engine, but it may have been updated since your version of VH. And you may not need it depending on the conversion you are trying to make. Which version of VH is it ?
So you are trying to convert the mpeg and mp4 files into wmv. Do you select the 320 pixels wide option ? Are the source movies 320 pixels wide ? or larger ?
What settings do you use in VH ? ie. Which tab do you select for converting to ? and what options do you select within it ?
Do you change the destination directory ?
If you open the mkv files in QuickTime, it may complain about missing codecs, click Cancel and it'll leave you with a blank window. Select "Show Movie Properties" under the Window menu, what is under "Format" for the Video Track ? Is there also an Audio Track ?
QuickTime shouln't complain about the movie, mpeg and mp4 should open and play just fine. If it does complain it's almost certain that the files are not the format they claim to be - the Show Movie Properties will sort this out.

  • How to convert FLV and F4V files to other media formats

How to convert FLV and F4V files to other media formats
Nowadays, every one can download their favorite videos from video sharing websites like YouTube, Hulu, MySpace, Google Video, metacafe, Yahoo! Video, Reuters.com and so on at will. However, these video files we got are usually in the format of FLV, or F4V, which are not workable by most portable devices, or some video players and video editors on our PC. With the intention of solving these problems, this guide will show you how to convert FLV and F4V files to other video and audio formats in detail.
    1. Download, install and run Pavtube FLV Converter
As soon as you run this program, the following wine red interface will show up:
    2. Add files, set output format and destination folder
Input FLV and F4V files to this program by clicking on “Add” button, and select a format as the output format in the drop-down list of “Format”, meanwhile, you can press the output folder to specify the destination folder or just use the path set by default. Moreover, “merge into one file” enables you to combine multiple FLV and F4V files to be as a single file, if you have this needs, just tick it.
    3. Set advanced settings
Click “Settings” button, the following interface will pop up. You can change the parameters like screen size, bit rate, frame rate, sample rate, etc. on it to optimize the output quality or compress file size.
    4. Convert
After all settings are done, you can press “Convert” button to start transferring, and then the following window will show you the conversion info in detail. According to the info you can manage your time and disk space properly.
Pavtube FLV Converter can definitely complete the conversion at a swift speed with excellent quality; also it adopts an advanced audio-video sync technology, so that audio and video match very well in the resulted files. Therefore you need not worry about these issues.

  • It takes 11 hours to convert to flv format from Quicktime

I edited a DV movie from camera using FCP and one hour final movie after adding all animations and effects in .mov format which was about 12 GB takes about 11 hours to be converted to flv format is this usual or I need to do some thing.
    My system configuration is
    Power PC G5
    3500 MB RAM
    1.1 TB hard disk.
    I used Marcromedia Flash Encoder
    OS Mac OS X 10.5.8
is there some thing that can be done to shorten the time as the compressor of FCP wont submit batch. That is an error I am getting in it.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TA47672?viewlocale=en_US
and any of the solution suggested above does not seems to work.
This post is not about compressor problem I had asked that on another thread
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2374397&tstart=0
but it says to install an old OS which is not some thing logical I feel to be able to use compressor I wont be downgrading my OS.
What I want to know is to be able to convert to flv from .mov format so much time is it a usual thing or some thing can be done to shorten it.

That's what I meant. You just need a good compression codec.
Can you help to identify or let me know a few codecs I will try.
Is FLV the only resource you streaming server will use?
Yes it has to be flv.The decision is not in my hands it will be a Linux Server so if you are aware of any better file format let me know.I can suggest.
You can use hardware compression systems to go directly to several different >low grade codecs but I've never used them.
I do not have any such hardware but anyways
    thanks for this suggestion.

  • Convert video format to flv

Anyone know how, or can point me in the direction as to how
youTube convert video formats to flv on their servers? thanks to
    any responders.

I don't know exactly what youtube or google uses for their
transcoding systems but there are a few products that can do
    exactly the same:
    Rhozet
    Flix Engine
    FlipFactory
    FFMPEG
FFMPEg is open source and you can download it for free,
during the other ones need a commercial license.

  • Converting to FLV format

    Hi,
I am a church webmaster. I built a simple media player to put on my church website that will play an intro video from our pastor. I looked at the javafx media area on javafx.com and it says that the only cross-platform media is flv. I'm not in a position though too purchase a rather expensive program to conver my video file to flv. Are there any free(or cheaper) programs that can convert to flv format? I have one program that I used to convert my file converted to .flv, but when I try to play the video I get an exception that says the media format is not accepted, so I guess the OnFlix software doesn't convert to that .flv format. Any other programs?
By the way, the program that I used was AnyVideoConverter if anyone is familiar with that.

There are lot of video converters (just search the term in Google!), lot of them free. I think/guess lot of them just use FFmpeg behind the scene, officially [or not|http://ffmpeg.mplayerhq.hu/shame.html]. FFmpeg is a well known video converter, it supports flv output.
It is a command line tool, but there are several GUI around it, for example WinFF (you didn't indicated which system you use, I assume it is Windows...).
Another well known/reputed converter is SUPER, which uses FFmpeg and several other tools.

  • Converting M2P format video to flv

    Hi All,
Recently my client supplied me videos in M2P format to be
used in Flash project. I guess this format is MPEG2 which is used
    by HDTV or Broadcaster.
I was trying to convert it to flv format but My Flash 8 could
not accept it for conversion. Ultimately I requested for MPEG1
format and it worked very well.
Is it that M2P format can not be converted to flv or am I
    missing something?
    Regards,
    Nitin

A simple method I use to convert from one playable format to
another is to use the latest version of quick time. You need to
have the pro version. Open the file and then export. FLV is an
    option.

  • CONVERTING FINAL PRODUCT TO FLV FORMAT FOR ZMAG DIGITAL MAGAZINE

I am trying to get my final product into a flv format to send to my bosses to use on our new zmag online digital magazine. I have no clue how to export or convert my final product in final cut pro 6.0.1 to this type of file. I am able to do wmv, mov, avi etc. Can someone help me and explain how I can get my video into flv format?
    Thank you sooo much!
    Victoria

Smaller files typically equate to lower quality.
With that understanding, you'd lower the video and audio bit rates (trial & error) until you get the size file you want.
Consider Tony's suggestion of making a H.264 file and changing the file descriptor to .flv
H.264 is an excellent codec for internet distribution.

  • Can't convert to FLV format like I used to

I have a QuickTime Pro license and I am up-to-date. I used to be able to convert an avi file to flv format for use in Adobe Flash. Now I get an error saying "Wildform Flix Exporter encountered a problem. This version of Flix Exporter is not licensed to run under the current application." What's up with that? How do I now convert to FLV format? Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is the primary reason I upgraded to QuickTime Pro in the first place. Plus, I find trying to get to the right place to even ask this question to be extremely time consuming and frustrating. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

QuickTime Pro has never exported to Flash video without third party software.
Seems like your "Flix Exporter" ( http://www.on2.com/index.php?316 ) is that third party application.
    Contact them for more answers.

  • Converting .MOV video file into FLV format?

Hello, I finished editting a corporate video for client and they want to know if I can also send them an FLV format video.
Does anyone know how I can do this.  I edited video in Final Cut Pro and used Compressor to export my final .mov video file.
How do I make this a FLV file?
    Thanks~

The best method would be to use a Flash encoder to transcode the video.  Do you have a Flash encoding application?
Another method would be to export an H.264 file of the video.  When it's finished, change the file extension to .flv.  It should play in later versions of Flash player, but won't play in older versions.

  • .FLV Format to Adobe Premier Elements 4 for editing -- Difficulty

    Hi:
Have Dell Dimension 4600 with 2.4 GigHz CPU
    WINXP with SP-2
    RAM = 1 GIG
    2 HD's (20 & 200 gigs)
I recently downloaded from YouTube a lot of
videos by using RealPlayer's software (version 11),
    which uses the .FLV format.
I want to transfer them to Adobe Premier Elements 4
for editing, but it will not accept this format.
    I tried using Virtual Dub and/or MPEG-Streamclip
to change this format and they too would not
    recognize this .FLV format
    Any suggestions??
    Thanks

    Hi again:
Have some questions about the Moyea FLV Plug-in:
As previously stated, I have been using the Prism Video converter,
which does seem to convert the FLV file to some type of an AVI file.
I then load this AVI file into Premium Elements 4 (PE4), and it first
has to be "conformed" in the PE4 software.
Then, if one attempts to open and edit this file, it either is an ex-
tremely slow process, or the software freezes, requiring a re-start
(sometimes multiple times) to complete the editing before rendering
it into an edited AVI file.
Curious to find a work-around, I avoided this first time editing
and just had the PE4 software just re-render the whole intact
Prism-generated AVI file into a PE4-generated AVI file which has
apparently much less "overehead" and can easily be edited in PE4.
so, I end up re-re-rendering the original FLV to get the edited AVI
    file I want.
Does the Moyea FLV Plug-in avoid this labor-time intensive task??
Also, its web site advertises 2 different packages:
    1) FLV Importer Pro for Adobe Premiere:
"FLV Importer Pro for Adobe Premiere is a plug-in program for Adobe
Premiere. Adobe Premiere is a professional and popular video editing
tool, which allows importing video and audio in various formats, like
AVI, MPE, MPG, M2V, MP3, WMV, WMA, WAV, etc.
Yet, it does not support the FLV file, which is widely used on the
web. FLV Importer Pro for Adobe Premiere is just a program to make
Adobe Premiere accept the FLV file for video editing and composing."
    Price: $60
    2) FLV Importer for Adobe Premiere:
"FLV Importer for Adobe Premiere is the same with the Pro version,
except the Flash 8 alpha video import and cheaper with 20$ off!
It is a plug-in program for Adobe Premiere.
Adobe Premiere is a professional and popular video editing tool, which
allows importing video and audio in various formats, like AVI, MPEG,
MPG, M2V, MP3, WMV, WMA, WAV, etc. Yet, it does not support the FLV
file, which is widely used on the web.
Support FLV files encoded by any codec, like:
    Flash 8, H.263, RAW, ADPCM, MP3, Nellymoser.
FLV Importer for Adobe Premiere is just a program to make Adobe Prem-
iere accept the FLV file for video editing and composing."
    Price: $40
    (version 2)
The product sites of Moyea Software:
    Video-to-flash.com, Flvsoft.com, My-video-converter.com.
    The homepage of Moyea Software:
    http://www.moyea.com
Which one is the most practical to get??
The site offers a "Free Trial"--is that worthwhile??
    Finally, is this site trustworthy??
I am using the PE4 mainly for the conversion of FLV files and would
appreciate any rational method for accelerating the process.
    Thanx.

  • Can't convert flv to mp4 when I publish to html5

    Hi
I have a project that  incorpporates FLV files which where imported succesfully.  When I publish to HTML5, the flv files fail to convert to Mp4.  Ironically, if I publish the entire project to mp4 it works?
    Has anyone got any ideas.
    Cheers
    Mark
Ps I am using Captivate 7

    REsolved
I have been using a third-party program to generate FLV files.  Although captivate 7 accept these files & publishes these files in certain formats (including mp4), the Adobe media encoder is unable to convert these files into mp4 format if you want to publish them as html5.  In order to resolve this, I had to bring files into captivate as either AVI or MP4 files. The Adobe media encoder then converts them to an acceptable FLV for captivate.  If I then publish to HTML 5, the media encoder successfully does the conversion.
As a quick test I tried to directly convert the third-party generated FLV files using adobe media converter into F4v files and then import them into captivate, however the Adobe media encoder would not recognise the flv format.
Therefore, if you come up with a similar problem, I strongly recommend that you bring in your video files as avi or mp4 and let the Adobe media encoder do its work.
    Cheers
    Mark

  • Converting .flv files?

Source file = .flv downloaded from Twitch TV
Need = to convert the .flv file to a format that I can edit in Final Cut Pro 10.0.6
End Result Desired = to posted editted version in format that will play on YouTube
When I download the .flv file, the audio and video play fine in Adoble Flash Player.   I have tried just ablout every .flv converter I can find and all convert the .flv video to H.264 or other formats, but the Audio is never included.  I cannot figure out why the audio does not come over.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

    For the first question,
because Final Cut Pro uses QuickTime technology, almost any QuickTime-compatible file format can be imported and exported. well, you mentioned that the end result is to posted onto YouTube at last, so i recommend you use .mp4 format (can be supported both on FCP and YouTube) as output file.
I dont know what OS you are using, if you are using windows, you can use handbrake or freemake (both are free) to do that job well. Or you have a Mac computer, you may refer to guide here to convert .flv files to an mp4. I haven't done this in a long while, but it works fine for me before. Hope it works.
    For the second question,
you mean that the audio file is never output along with video. one reason for that is may the flv file codec is designed by different development team. you said you have tried just every .flv converter, can list them out? maybe some of tools (excluded from them) i know can shows you.
And Google search for more help.
    Regards.

  • Fastest way to convert flv videos to a compatible ...

    Hi.
Which is the fastest way to convert flv videos to a compatible format for the E71?

It is goog that you are all providing links here for converters but please avoid posting ones wherein it leads to direclty purchasing various products alone as this will be considered as spamming and is not allowed in the boards.
A fair number of the converters are freeware others are shareware and others let you trial the product either via a short test or watermark . I have posted some that are paid for as well as freeware  but its like mentioning Apple IPhone would that also be classified as spam .Likewise again their are other apps for your phone   if they are not freeware are they classed as spam  if mentioned . Their seems to be no intention of  spamming when asked about a product to do a particular job  and the actual replys fall outside the definition of spamming .If the definition of spam on this board is mentioning paid for applications then the list is long starting with Windows and should not just be applied to this section .
But as their are so many views as what app to use paid for or free then i see the board as being safe from abuse .
