Converting from PC-based PDA to Mac-based PDA

I have been using a Sony Clie for about 4 years and during that time I have abandoned the PC world and converted everything to Mac....execpt my PDA! Can anyone describe the process of transferring all of my data and software from the PC PDA world to the Mac PDA world? I recognize that I will need Mac versions of some software but I have a huge lists of contacts I am most concerned about this as well as other files. I am also in the market for a new PDA and am wondering what handhelds others have found work well with a Mac. I have considered the Palm Tungsten. Many thanks to those that reply.

Off the top of my head there are two options, first is the inbuilt "mail" with Mac OS X which is good, or if you have MS Office 2004 for the Mac, you can use entourage, which is MS's current offering of mail for the mac, however the current version is a fair distance away from outlook, although this will change with office 2008 due out in the first quarter of next year.
The other option if you are collecting pop3 email which most people do at home is have a look at Mozilla thunderbird form the makers of Firefox web browser, very good email client and free.

Thanks for your quick response. I should add....it worked before. When I previously inserted the two DVDs into this remote drive, and I went into finder, I could click on the "remote device" line and see all my saved documents (excel, word, etc) on the DVD and open them on the Mac. Now I cannot see them, when I try to open them on the Mac, nothing happens, nothing is displayed. I just re-tested the remote DVD drive with a CD and, no problem, it opened up the CD via iTunes and I cold play the CD. SO......I know the remote DVD drive (it's an LG by the way) is fine, it's something to do with some settings on my mini mac,especially where I could open it previously. I do not remember changing any settings since then.
When I go into system preferences and click on CD/DVD it gives me options of how to open up a music CD (default is iTunes), a DVD (default is iMovie), etc. The problem is my DVD is all miscellaneious files/documents. I just want to be able to see them in the finder. I also tried to open them via microsoft word, from the remote disk and again, it could not open the drive, even though some of the documents were microsoft word documents. Again, I was able to open them previously and the DVD is not corrupted in any way.

Converting from Entourage to Mail for Mac on OS 10.5.6

Can anyone give me tips on how to convert from Entourage 2008 for Mac to Mail for Mac. I am on version 10.5.6 OS. Also, I have some files on Outlook (windows PC) that I want to move over to the mail including old emails, addresses, etc.
Any tips with specific instructions and other hints as to what to consider that won't transfer would be appreciated

Scenario 1
(assumes Mobile Me membership)
Set up Apple Mail in your Mac Pro, iMac, ... and set preferences in Mobile Me to include email stuff
Login to MacBook Pro, Air, ... other iMac, other Mac Pro > enter mobile me stuff there and Bongo! Apple Mail on the second machine synchronizes with stuff set in Apple Mail on first machine.
Turn on the iPhone > Bongo! iPhone Mail will show the same email accounts as on the other two machines described above.
One does not need to re-enter stuff for the sake of it. Mobile Me makes it easy.
On the second machine create a new email account or add an existing one to Apple Mail > Bongo! Details updated on the first machine and also on iPhone.
Scenario 2
(assumes preferences set in Mobile Me for calendars and contacts)
Create new contacts in each of the three machines (that is the first machine, the second machine and the iPhone) > Bongo! Details will be synched across all three machines (okay, iPhone calls them contacts and the other machines call it Address Book but ... )
Create appointments in Calendar or iCal in ... well, they are synched as well.
Scenario 3
On a PC, away from each of the three machines detailed above. Need contacts and calendars (yes, iCal and iPhone calendar support multiple calendars with an overview summary of all, yep, ALL calendars.
Fire up Safari on the PC (Safari 4 seems sweet) > go to www.me.com > enter username and password of Mobile Me account > Bongo!
I suppose it may also be a time thing in sense that many people, self included, might recall a time when every calendar needed every detail keying in (other computer operating systems running different applications). Sure there were import/export utilities or thunks bet these tended to be at variance with each other regarding ordering of data fields, field parameters and in my own experience a bad import though swift was less reliable than re-keying in the details.

Converting from frame-based using PHP - require_once

I am converting an old site, previously using a frameset to
combine a menu and a page of images that change using a timeline.
Rather than combine the menu and page into one page (the menu
would need to be altered in over 50 files when new pages are
added), I am using require_once for the menu.
The problem is that the only way to display BOTH the menu
(from PHP) and the rest of the page in Dreamweaver is to put the
PHP require_once script at the end of the source code. BUT this
seems to stop the timeline working.
The only way to make the timeline work is to put the PHP at
the beginning of the source code, but this then only shows the PHP
part of the page and NOT the rest of the page, which ideally I need
to edit...
Any ideas how I can get the PHP to work AND display in
Dreamweaver design view AND the timeline to play properly?

Something is wrong if you have discovered this. The parent
page must have
the body tags. Then you can use either an onload attribute in
the body tag
or a javascript call at the bottom of the page (right before
</body>) to
trigger the timeline.
BUT - why are you using a timeline at all? If it's only to
support the
menu, there are MUCH better (and much less prehistoric) ways
to do this.

Okay so the laptop i have right now is a Toshiba Satellite PC. I do love it to death but I hate that there are a million and a half viruses for it >.< I'm getting into Graphic Design and computer gaming more. Right now I have a ton of PC software and I've heard that Mac can read almost all software. So I'm wondering if some of my PC only games will run on a Mac as long as it has Windows XP on it? The only reason I'm asking is because I'm about to buy a small bundle in Adobe Web Bundle..My possible future Mac will be farther along before I buy one. How can I convert an outlook pst file to mac mail without using a windows based computer

I recently bought the new iMac as my older Windows based computer crashed with a bad motherboard. I have been trying to find a way to convert Outlook 2007 pst files to Mac Mail without the need to use a Windows based computer since all I have now is a Mac. I have the copies of the pst files on my Mac, so I am looking for the most efficient way to convert them to the format that I can then open them in the Mac Mail. How tedious is it to convert from windows to mac?

My windows (sony vaio running XP) is dying. Got the dreaded 3 beeps on start up today...so will be shopping for a new desktop soon.
I have an ipad and iphone that I've owned for about a year now...and I must say I REALLY like them. Have been contemplating going all mac....but EVERYTHING i do on my desktop is obviously windows based. My biggies are quicken....i have files that go back 10 years and all my excel docs. Has anyone recently made the jump from windows to mac...how hard is it really to convert everything over?

Millions have done what you are contemplating, most don't have any issues at all. I f you haven't already go to your local Apple Store and ask your questions and you will get honest replies, I did when I made the switch 7 years ago. I converted from Quicken to iBank which imported my Quicken data extremely easily. As for MS Office, simply get MS Office for Mac and you're set. It's compatible with the Windows version and opening files is the same across platforms.

Also when you get a Mac and turn it on for the first time, one the steps it has is asking if you are migrating from a PC to the Mac. Simply choose yes and follow the on-screen prompts and you're set. You can also Google Migration Assistant for Windows for more detailed info if you want.

How to fetch data from bseg based on 2 internal tables in 1 select query?

i have bukrs and belnr in one internal table and bukrs and vbeln in another internal table..now if i select from bseg twice using for all entries for fields bukrs vbeln and bukrs belnr twice in 2 select statements its fine..but since bseg is a huge table i want to use select only once..but the problem is that none of the belnrs in the one internal table will have vbeln in another internal table....ie if vbeln is selected from bseg based on belnr in 1 internal table non eof those vbeln will be equal to vbeln on another internal tables..in this scenario even if i take all data from two internal tables into 1 single internal table and then use for all entries on vbeln and belnr of that table ..but i think this will not work because and AND operator will not work because no record will satisfy both vbeln and belnr conditions..even if i use OR operator if the 1st condition satisfies the select clause will not enter into the second clause and all the records will not be fetched...Please help how should i tackle this..

As BSEG is a huge table you should try to get the full key values into another internal table first.
SAP avoids direct selections from BSEG.
Pleas consider the use of one of the secondary index tables first:
      BSAD : Accounting: Secondary Index for Customers (Cleared Items)
      BSAK : Accounting: Secondary Index for Vendors (Cleared Items)
      BSAS : Accounting: Secondary Index for G/L Accounts (Cleared Item
      BSEC : One-Time Account Data Document Segment
      BSEG : Accounting Document Segment
      BSID : Accounting: Secondary Index for Customers
      BSIK : Accounting: Secondary Index for Vendors
      BSIS : Accounting: Secondary Index for G/L Accounts
you may include
      BKPF : Accounting Document Header
for restrictions about time and document type.
The last step is a FOR ALL ENTRIES selection from BSEG providing the full key values.
Although you may have even more selects, the overall performance will be much better.

How do I convert a web based file to a PDF file? I know that you "Print to File" but for some reason that is not working for me. I have Adobe Reader X, shouldn't that be able to create a PDF like this, or is there another program that I need to do this? Thanks.

Reader X cannot create a PDF file - it can only view and print existing PDF files.
In order to create a PDF file (for example, print a webpage as a PDF, as you mentioned), you can purchase our CreatePDF service. This service includes a CreatePDF Printer which can print web pages to PDF.
Or you could purchase Acrobat, which can also convert webpages to PDF.

Exchange rate should pick from TCURR based on custom date field added in MIGO

In MIGO, FI document get posted by picking exchange rate based on the posting date. Through BADI(MB_DOCUMENT_BADI) we have added a field called translation date in MIGO screen, while doing GRN exchange rate should pick from TCURR based on translation date instead of posting date. We have tried this logic using substitution (GGB1) in FI accounting it is working fine in FB60 & F-02 transaction but it is not working with MIGO transaction. Please suggest some solution for this.

There are 2 notes of SAP for modification of translation date of BKPF.
SAP Note 574583 will activate a BADI kindly refer to it for details.

GREAT info, but it may be helpful to note that when replacing a portion of the variable "Countries" with a whitespace character, you may cause the workflow to fail in a few specific cases (certain lookup fields will not accept this and will automatically
cancel). I only found this out when recreating your workflow on a similar, but much more complex list set.
To resolve this issue, I used another utility action (Extract Substring from Index of List) to clear out the whitespace. I configured it as "Copy from
Variable: Countries, starting at
1 (Output to Variable: Countries), which takes care of this issue in those few cases.

"Net Due Date" is a calculted figure which is the ( number of days from payment terms + Baseline date ).

The FM does not serve my purpose. This FM basically determines the due date of the documents. My requirement is to find a function module wherein the input is the 'Due date ( viz a calculated fied = baseline date + payment terms )' based on which the respective records are fetched from BSIK and BSID.
