Converting from WAV to MP3 using Creative MediaSou

I am trying to convert from WAV to MP3 using Creative Media Source Version 3.30.35. The program says it is converting the file to MP3 but when it has finished and I examine the properties it still says the file format is WAV. Can anyone shed any light on this, thanks?

It doesn't change the original file - it creates a new file in the new format. Check where your file destination is set to in the Audio Converter screen.

  • Converting from WAV to MP3

    Hi all,
I have to convert a wave- into an mp3-file during a http-request. What is the best way to do this (library) and are there any samples out there?
    Thanks and regards,

I had the same problem and just found this. I know the post is old but maybe someone else could benefit. Go to this link
    http://www.tritonus.org/plugins.html
and scroll down to the Mp3 encoder and pull in tritonus-mp3enc-2001-04-25.zip . This zip has a step by step read me for what you need to do. This solution will work for windows or linux.
    Good Luck!!

  • Files converted from m4a to mp3 are not displaying correctly in feed

hi; i recently produced my first show in garageband (after using a bunch of other audio apps in the past), exported to an m4a file, and converted to mp3 in itunes, but it is not showing up as an audio file in my feed.
the feed is http://feeds.feedburner.com/wellroundedradio and my blog posting on it is http://wellroundedmedia.blogspot.com
is there something you need to do when converting from m4a to mp3 in itunes to make sure the settings are all correct so it will be enclosed as an audio file? i have tested other mp3 files in the feed and they are working fine.
    thx, charlie

thanks. yes, i think that's what has been so tricky about this. i add a link to an mp3 in blogger, but feedburner doesn't add this particular show as an enclosure, so it's not updating in the feed. can't seem to find where the origin of the problem, though...is it blogger, feedburner, or the mp3 file or...?

  • Error message when converting from mp4 to mp3

Three songs I just purchased won't convert from mp4 to mp3, although all of the other songs--including one from the same album these 3 are from--converted just fine. I keep getting "an unknown error occurred" message. How can I convert these 3 songs? Should I exit the iTunes store and reload it (in effect rebooting the store)? Or what?

Purchase only iTunes Plus songs, change the default encoder in iTunes to MP3 from the General section of its preferences, right-click the songs, and change them to MP3.

You should be able to use iTunes to convert your music to a different file format.
*To convert a song's file format:
Choose iTunes > Preferences, then click the Advanced button at the top of the window and click Importing.
From the Import Using pop-up menu, choose the encoding format that you want to convert the song to, then click OK to save the settings.
Select one or more songs in your library, then choose Advanced > Convert Selection to MP3, Convert Selection to AAC, Convert Selection to Apple Lossless, Convert Selection to AIFF, or Convert Selection to WAV. (The menu item changes to show what's selected in your Importing preferences.)
To convert all the songs in a folder or on a disk, hold down the Option key and choose Advanced > "Convert Selection to," then choose the folder or disk containing the songs you want to convert. All the songs in the folder or on the disk will be converted except songs you purchased from the iTunes Store. (Purchased songs are encoded using a protected AAC format that prevents them from being converted.)

    Hope this helps.

  • Convert internal audio member from wav to mp3 or swa

    Hi
i have lots of audio files in wav format. they are already appear as cast members. now i need to convert them to mp3 or swa. the audio have cue points.
how can i see the type file of the audio member?
what i should do to convert those members to mp3 oe swa?
should i export wav and then import it as mp3? if so how wxcatly?
those members are wav, cuz in external editor i can see its wav.
the reason i need to compress is that i need to  play it over the internet.
im using director 11.5 in xp.
    please help
    Shay

If you are using cue points, then don't use MP3.  MP3s do not have cue points, so they will be removed.  In older versions of Director, there was an option to convert wav files to swa under the Xtras menu.  For some reason, that was removed from Director 11.  So, if it is a requirement that you use swa, then Have a look for an older version of Director (Dir MX 2004 or earlier) which can do the conversion.
In D11.5, you can use the new audio mixer to convert the files to mp4.  I'm not sure if that will work for you, but it is worth a try.

  • Converting from WAV, or "converting but secretly not converting" from wav to AAC

I got this particular problem I just found out about. I imported a wav file into iTunes, and I assumed that means it gets converted to whatever format I set iTunes up for (in my case AAC). But when I then sync my iPod, I get the message that the file that was originally in WAV, cannot be imported because it is not in a compatible format. Yet the same song plays fine in iTunes. This does not make sense, unless iTunes does NOT convert files you import into the required file standard, but just copies them in, and iTunes happened to be able to play wav files. But then again, if iTunes is compatible with WAV files, why isn't iPod?
Now, I have to add, I have the file already on my computer, so I just drag the wav file into my iTunes. Does that mean iTunes copies the file over to the iTunes library, or does it actually convert it into the file format set up?

As for importing, I assume you refer to importing via drag-dropping files into iTunes? because according to my preferences, when I insert a CD it DOES convert  to a particular file type.
Kryn, yes, that is the importing that Dave is referring to.  Ripping from CD is a different process.
As far as your WAV file, iTunes and iPod can both play WAV.  They are pretty reliable if it is a CD-quality WAV, but sometimes have trouble if it is a low bitrate WAV such as the kind that come out of voice recorders.  If that is the problem, use a 3rd party conversion tool such as Switch to convert it to an MP3 or AAC.

  • Why won't my playlists convert from aac to mp3

    Hi,
Never had to use the forum before as I've always previosuly been able to figure most stuff out that I needed to do, but I recently converted my whole music library from AAC format to MP3 (so that I can burn an MP3 disc to play in my car) with no problem using the "Advanced" tab and "Convert to MP3 format" tab.
(I've also changed my settings now so that all downloads are set to MP3 as well to stop this happening ever again!.)
However, I then tried to do the same for my playlists, but it just doesn't work for those using the "Convert to MP3 format" facility - even though it doers actually give the impression of doing so. i.e. It appears to be converting the songs and I even get a confimation tone when it's suppossedly finished converting the playlist, but the playlist still shows it's "Kind" as AAC,  and hasn't converted it at all!
The only way that I can find to do it is to delete the playlist (after printing out a copy of the playlist) and then manually re-creating the whole playlist again by dragging each song individually from the library! Which I obviously don't really want to do as I've got a lot of playlists and that would be very laborious and would quite frankly be a ridiclous thing to have to do again (especially after doing it already for the library).
Am I missing something here, expecting too much or just being thick?? Any one have a solution for this please?

Thank you, absolutely brilliant, I knew there had to be an easier way to do this!!! And also thank you so much for the really quick response too!
It took me less than a minute to do this for the first playlist and I'll now easily be able to do the same for all the other playlists - saving me potentially hours if I'd had to do it using the other way.
In case anyone is unaware, there is one further little tip once you have converted the playlist from AAC to MP3 and sorted by "Date Added". Press and hold Shift, then highlight (the first song) and scroll to the last song (which will then highlight all the songs that you've just converted) and then simply drag them to a new playlist - voila, job done!

  • How can i convert from alac to mp3 and export to artist/album hierarchy

I am trying to populate a 32GB SD Card with music to listen to in my car.  My itunes library is largely in apple lossless format, but the car stereo does not play that format.
I have created a playlist of all of the music I'd like to have on the SD Card (but its in apple lossless format).
So what I'd like to do is:
    a)     Bulk convert a large number of apple lossless files to MP3.
    b)     Export the MP3 files to an external Finder folder, organized in Artist/Album hierarchy
    c)     Delete the MP3 files from the itunes library so as to have just the apple lossless version maintain in the itunes library
Sounds pretty simple, but I'm having a devil of a time trying to figure it out.
I can find a way to do the conversion and export the MP3 files (and subsequently deleted from the itunes library), but they will not be organized by Artist/Album in the Finder folder.
Similarly, I can export a bunch of files from itunes to a Finder folder and have it be organized by Artist/Album.
I just can't do one followed by the other.
I suppose this would also work if instead of exporting the newly created MP3 files, it would establish a new playlist in itunes with these.  Then, I could just export them and have them then organized by Artist/Album; and then I could delete all of the MP3 files in the playlist.
Any thoughts or ideas on how to accomplish this goal?  (I do know the manual way of doing this, but am trying to figure out a faster, more elegant way).
    M

I ask because you wrote, "I just can't do one followed by the other".
You can. Just do one followed by the other.
    Convert the files to mp3.
Put them all into a playlist.  A smart playlist with Kind is MP3 and added in last one day will do it for you.
Select the songs in teh smart playlist
Run Export to Album Folders script.
Select all the songs in the playlist then Command Delete to remove them from iTunes.

  • Converting a tape to MP3 using Garageband and my MacBook...

I'm having a problem converting some of my old books on tape to MP3 using my MacBook and my stereo. I have a cord with mini-plig attachments on both ends - one end is connected to the headphone out jack on my stereo and the other is connected to the mini-attachment next to the headphone jack on the MacBook. For whatever reason whenever I try to record all I get is distorted static.
Any ideas on how to proceed with this?

You may need to adjust the volume levels both on the stereo output and the MacBook Sound Input Level in System Preferences. You need to adjust it so that the signal isn't amplified too much resulting in clipping or distortion.
You should be able to preview the sound coming into the MacBook to adjust those levels until it has an acceptable sound quality.

  • Is there an audible loss of quality when converting from WMA to MP3/AAC?

Just wondering when I convert my WMA files to MP3 or AAC using EasyWMA, iTunes for WIndows, Switch or whatever, will there be an audible loss of quality in the conversion?
    Thanks.

There is always an audio quality degradetion while converting a compressed file from one codec to another. It may not be significant for everybody tough.
To avoid this degradation, you should compress your file from the original instead of passing from one codec to another.
