Converting H 264 video files

How do I convert H 264 video for Imovie?

Another bit of information. If I export from iMovie using the same exact settings on the same video files I don't get the flashing colors.

  • Is there a way to easily batch convert hundreds of video files to h.264, while retaining the original dimensions, metadata, etc.?

I am organizing my library of stock video footage so is easily view (show to clients) and access. I need advice for two things:
First: What is a good program to catalog footage in? I am considering using iTunes because I already have it and I could setup smart folders to easily organize footage.
Second: I would like to encode all the footage to h.264 so I can preview it in Quicktime and add it to an iTunes library. My problem is all the footage is in a wide variety of dimensions, formats, framerates, strange codecs etc. I have access to Adobe Media Encoder and Apple Compressor. Is there a way to easily batch convert hundreds of video files to h.264, while retaining the original dimensions, metadata, etc.?
I have tried using a watch folder in AME but it freezes every time I add the folder...
    Thanks for any help!

Did you move the entire iTunes folder the hold Option, select Choose library and select the iTunes folder you moved?

  • Converter pictures and videos files to jpg and mpeg

Do you know a safety software o freeware to convert pictures and videos files to jpg and mpeg? to use in my desktop with windows?

A backup stores the data in the location shown in the following link: Create and delete iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch backups in iTunes
Note, however that backup files are stored in a format that is meant for use only in restoring to an iOS device. They are not a way for you to view the photos on the computer.
If you want to save the photos to the computer and be able to view them there, the following has instructions: Import photos and videos from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your Mac or Windows PC
You can also use PhotoStream My Photo Stream FAQ or 3rd party apps such as http://www.photosync-app.com

I'm new to after effects--I want to scale up a H.264 video file using bicubic. How do I do that?

Here is detail about the bicubic sampling option added in After Effects CC (12.0):

As Rick says, you can get even better results for many videos (though at the expense of longer processing time) using the new Detail-Preserving Upscale effect added in After Effects CC (12.1):

  • Mp3 audio channel problems in h.264 video file

I'm trying to encode an mp4/h.264 video file with an mp3 audio channel.  I'm tried encoding it with both Adobe Media Encoder and ffmpeg (using libmp3lame).  I'm streaming the video files using ffmpeg to stream the file through Red5 as a live stream.  When the Flex AIR clients play the stream (using the Spark VideoDisplay component), I hear a frequent sort of chirping sounding audio artifact.  I've also tried playing these files directly from my harddrive in a simple AIR app using NetStream and the Video component.  When I try this I don't hear any audio at all.  In both tests if I use an FLV (On2 VP6) file with an mp3 channel it sounds fine.  Unfortunately I need to use h.264 video.
I've tried using AAC audio but am having a different issue with that:  http://forums.adobe.com/message/4096536
Any ideas why I am seeing this audio artifact problem and how to resolve it?

    Most h.264 should work.
Have you tried FILE/IMPORT MOVIE and then navigate to the h.264 file?
If that does not work, but the h.264 will play in QuickTIme PLayer, then you can get MPEG Streamclip from Squared 5 (which is free). Drag the h.264 file into MPEG Streamclip. Then FILE/EXPORT TO QUICKTIME. Choose Apple Intermediate Codec for Compressions. You can use this file in iMovie by clicking FILE/IMPORT MOVIE.

  • How do I convert an m4a video file to anything else?

I need to edit out some video from an iPod converted video file. How do I do this?

I use a program called iSquint to convert files to iPod or H.264 format. This program can optimize the conversion for iPod or for TV and I think it should be able to convert your m4a files to H.264 for editing. It's free, so even if it doesn't help this particular problem, you can use it for converting other videos to your iPod. Get it at http://www.iSquint.com
If iSquint turns out to be useless for your purposes, there is also a program called VisualHub which does tons more than iSquint (including conversions for DVD, PSP, AVI, QT, TiVO, Flash, etc) but unfortunately it costs USD $23.32--which still isn't too bad considering what some companies would have you pay for similar functionality. It is linked to from www.iSquint.com or you can go directly to it here: http://www.techspansion.com/visualhub/
Good luck and hope this helps.

  • Editing a .mov / H.264 video file in Final Cut Express 4

    I'm running FCE 4.0.1.
I was given a video file that is an interview with my father. The file has an extension of .mov, and it also has H.264 in the filename. The file contains a single uninterrupted interview that is over 2 hours long. There is lots of deadtime in the interview, and the interviewer was not mic'd, so you can barely hear the questions that are being asked. I want to use FCE4 to delete the deadtime and boost the audio whenever the interviewer speaks. I can "open" the file in FCE4 and view the contents in the viewer, but when I create a sequence and try to replay it, the canvas contains a big blue screen that says "unrendered."
I tried to research this issue on the forums before posting this topic, but I think I'm more confused now than when I started. Do I need to convert the .mov file to a DV format? Something else? Can I do the conversion in QuickTime?
Thanks in advance for your help.

What's the frame resolution of the media? What's the frame rate? You can use MPEG Streamclip or the QuickTime Pro player to convert.
Curious where this came from and how it go to be QuickTime in H.264. This isn't the original. It would be better to go back to that if you can.

  • Converting MPEG-4 video files to AppleTV

I'm trying to convert an MPEG-4 Video file in iTunes to AppleTV. I have tried various settings when exporting to iTunes. The imported file plays fine in iTunes, but the converted file just gives me audio and a white screen - no picture. The converted file is only about 39MB, when the original MPEG-4 file was about 2G. It appears that the audio portion is converting, but not the video. Can anyone out there tell me what I'm doing wrong?

I think the mystery has been solved. I switched to H.264, and it worked beautifully. Apparently, that's the only format that works. Too bad that neither QuicktimePRO nor iTunes mention this when you attempt to do the conversion to AppleTV...
    Thanks, for the help!

  • How to split H.264 video file then playback with FlashPlayer

    Hi all,
I want to develope a Flash or Flex application that can stream a video file in H.264 codec.
It's easy to do this with FMS, but it becomes difficult with my budget
I have an idea to do the streaming (not really streamming ) via HTTP.
My idea is: Split the large H.264 file into small pieces.
The client can download the small files then play back in order. (MyVideo1, MyVideo2.dat.....MyVideoM.dat)
The client first will download the metadata in XML format.
The client is able to play/jumb to the middle stream, the client will start download from MyVideoM.dat...(1<=M<=N)
My question is: How can i split my large Video file in H.264 codec in to smaller pieces (MyVideoN.dat) that flash player can play.
Which is the minimum metada that i have to put into my small file so that FlashPlayer can understand my video files?
Am i able to simply split the video file at serverside, then Client will inject the metadata into the downloaded small DAT files using Flash??
    Thanks for your support

Is there anyone out there can help me???

  • How do I convert all the video files in Aperture to M4V?

    Hi,
I have alot of video files stored in my Aperture Library in various formats i.e. vob, avi, mpg etc which I would like to batch encode to the standard MP4 format used by iPad/iphone. How do I do this with the new file replacing the existing file so that I don't have to import it again into its various events which will be next to impossible.
    Thanking you,
    rgowani

Afaik, you cannot.  I did this with one Library with several hundred videos.  I set up a system of exporting and converting and importing into the proper Project(s) and deleting the originals.  I don't remember how I did it -- sorry -- I may have exported into Finder Folders based on Projects, then batch converted the files recursively.  I know I couldn't automate parts of the process, so for some things there was nothing to do but labor through the process file by file (or Project by Project).  I suspect I used Name Mangler along the way -- an excellent (and to me invaluable) utility.  I think the whole process, including design, took about 8 person-hours.  Video conversion was over the course of several nights.  Strongly suggest mapping your tasks, and doing a dry run.  As with all digital files, never even open one with a verified back-up.
How many movies in Aperture?  How many Projects?

  • Am I able to easily convert a m4v video file purchased from itunes to a AMV file for a MP3 player that is not an ipod?

My wife an I each have iphones and ipods, however, my children have some non apple mp3 players.  I've purchased some tv shows via the itunes store that are in the .m4v video format.  The kids mp3 players only supports AMV video files.  Is there a way to easily convert the videos I purchased into the AMV video format so that I can load them onto the kids mp3 players?

You can do this in iMovie 11.
Drag your DV clip or clips into a new iMovie project.
    Then use the Share menu:
    SHARE/EXPORT USING QUICKTIME
In the dialog box choose Export: Sound to AIFF
You could do the same thing in MPEG Streamclip or Garageband, but using iMovie is the easiest.

  • Finding a 3rd party converter that supports Video Files.

    Hey there,
I seem to not be able to have the right format for my 30G iPod videos I have on my computer. What's the most popular video format conververters out there, so I would be able to see my video on my ipod????????. I was able to see and hear my sample video, on my iPod.
It recognises the conversion, for one video, but I can't see it on my iPod. I did the whole conversion, successfully, but that's about it, I believe.
    In dire help,
    Thanks,
