Converting I-tunes 6.0 M4p files to mp3

I have a number of files that have been downloaded from I-tunes 6 that will not play in my Dj CD players. My CD players play Mp3 files but not the newer AAC files from I-tunes 6. Is there a program or a way to convert the file, by keeping the file on the PC and not burning it to CD then re-importing it back?

oh ok, i thought that every1 may have read through it as the newly posted question i posted in my thread had been on there for over a day and also because the other questions were getting answered. I though the situation was like most forums where if the post is left, it goes un-notied and to the back of the pile to be unasweed, that was why i kept posting and asking for a answer in my other post.
The confusion was also probably caused by a poorly worded question in the first place on my behalf, i appologise for that.
Not to worry though,
I still have one little query though if its ok....... I dont know if there is a program you recommend but if there is i would love to know as there has been a few programs i have tried that have not worked, this being on the file conversion situation. Ive used programs like "Jhymn", to try and convert the file but they do not convert the file as it is the newer i-tunes 6 file. Is there a program that can be recommended that will convert the newer i-tunes files, ive searched but i cannt find any, just to save me burning my quite large collection of files?
thanks again all the help is much appreciated!!

  • Converting .m4p files to .mp3/.wav/.wma

Any suggestions to help convert an iTunes file to mp3, wav or wma would be greatly appreciated. Another application I am using requires one of these three files and cannot recognize the origial .m4p file. Thanks in advance.
    HP Laptop   Windows XP

The .m4p file extension is Apple's "protected" (DRM) format. The letter p stands for protected.
Burn these files to audio CD format (allowed by the terms of use) and then covert this new .aiff file.

  • Conversion of .m4p files to .mp3 or .wma format

I have purchased and downloaded many songs from iTune the intent of being able to manage with the Windows Media Player or loading to an mp3 player. Can someone please advise me how I can achieve these objectives??

If you have purchased the protected AAC (,m4p) files, the only thing you can do is burn them to an audio CD. If you purchase the iTunes Plus files which have no protection, their format can be changed to mp3. If you really need mp3 files, you might want to take a look at amazon.com's download service, they sell unprotected mp3 files at a higher bitrate.

  • M4p files no good in Final Cut, how can I convert?

A P.S. to my previous questions: The iTunes m4p files don't work in Final Cut. I can't convert them in Final Cut or Quicktime or Soundtrack or Logic Audio. In fact, they don't play in any of those apps, only iTunes.
I've got the rights to a song for a film that has to be completed Friday. How can I convert the m4p file to something useable?
    Help would be most appreciated,
    Ben

This goes back a couple of years and is not related to your problem, but it may your next problem.
I tried using .mp3 files out of iTunes and into Final Cut Pro. They would play, but by the time I got to exporting final video, the sound quality was terrible. I went back to the original cd audio file (.aiff?) and everything was fine.

Howe to convert I Tune files into MP3 or WAV files

iTunes should be able to do everything for you, however if you wish to use third party software that requires MP3 or WAV files, iTunes can convert to either of those formats from any format it can read.

My suggestion to use the smart playlist was more along the lines of making one list with rules to show everything in your library as long as it was kind "mpeg" (= mp3).
Smart playlists cannot be edited manually, only by changing the rules.  You can use them as the basis for another smart playlist though.
There is added overhead to using smart playlists, so don't go overboard.

  • Converting mp4 files to mp3 files

could someone tell me how to convert mp4 files into mp3 files? thanks

    Now this is clear.
You didn't have an .mp4 file or even a .m4a file. Yours is .m4p.
    The "p" stands for protected.
The rules say you can burn your .m4p files to CD. The CD file will be in .aiff format.
Drag the .aiff file into iTunes and then "convert" (using the options in your preferences for bit rate and extension).

  • Possible to convert DRM protected WMA files to mp3?

I've been attempting to find a relatively simple way of converting DRM-protected WMA files to mp3 using my Mac and can't seem to find anything. Surely somebody must have figured this out by now. I can convert non-DRM WMA files to mp3 using EasyWMA, but this does not work for WMA files with DRM protection.
I want to purchase songs from the 7digital store that are in the WMA format and have DRM protection, convert them to MP3 on my iMac, and then import them into iTunes. Seems like it shouldn't be that hard.
    Any suggestions?

iTunes Windows will convert non-DRM tunes into .mp3. If you have iTS purchases that have DRM you can burn them to an audio format CD as AIFF file format.
Check the terms of use and see what your options are for converting them to another format. With iTunes the path is to burn an audio CD. See if that is possible with the wma DRM.
Likely in your case you are trying to crack DRM outside the original terms of use when you purchased the tunes.

  • Any recomendation to a good Converter Software? .MOV to .M4P .WMP?

Any recomendation to a good Converter Software? .MOV to .M4P .WMP?
I have a .mov file of 2.44GB... and I need to reduce that by converting it to other format... So I was looking for a good software free for Mac.
    Thanks'

You'll need additional for .wmv conversion. Flip4Mac isn't free (the player is free, but not the upgrade to convert).

  • Purchased music and m4p files not playing in itunes

Background: so I had @me.com account with all my music purchased but it got disabled. so I tried to reset it but of course my birthdate did not work. I dont have contacting apple but they could not verify me with only 1 security question, no credit card, and incorrect serial number. so the @me account cant be accessed. Later that year my computer got struck by lighting destroying the hard drive/computer. the good new is I had a backup of the music. I put the music file on the new computer and when I tried to play the .m4p protected files itunes wants my @me.com account I cant access. I have my music on my computer and on my ipod classic but can only play the music on my ipod classic. I have many more tracks I want to add to my ipod but dont want to lose the music I already bought. I already tried many times with program to convert the music but it seems that need the music to play in itunes to work (authorize computer).
Question: Is trying to get my music to play the .m4p files a lost cause? Or can I stream the music from my ipod classic to computer then convert it? Or can I copy an authoriztion file from ipod classic? Any assistance with is would be very helpful.
PS: fairplay is not fair at all.

  • Quicktime don't play my m4p files

Hi, I used the 64bit Version of iTunes & Quicktime (9.0.1.8). My computer is activated for playing my purchased songs. Within iTunes I can play all my songs without problems.
But when I open my m4p files directly with the Quicktime player I got the message, that I was not permitted to play this song on this computer.
If I open iTunes to carry out the activation, I get the message that the computer is already activated. However, QuickTime nevertheless does not play the song.
Uninstall and reinstall iTunes & Quicktime does not help.
    Any other idea?

    What do I do?
Frankly, if you have deleted the original movie clips from your camera/camcorder and iPhoto, then it sounds as if you are up the proverbial creek without a paddle and there is nothing further that you can do.
    Some facts:
For some reason, the movieclips are awful small (13-30 KB).
    640 x 480
    Codecs: H.264, AAC
While these facts are of little value without file duration information, as you yourself have already noted, the file sizes quoted are extremely small. A typical VGA H.264/AAC file of reasonable quality would normally have a combined total data rate in the 700 to 1,700 Kbps range depending on specific settings, profile, and level of the encoding software and could be even higher or lower depending on the quality levels required. Therefore, it is reasonable to assume that files in the 13 to 30 KB range only contain 104 to 240 Kbs and either have durations measured in fractions of seconds or do not actually contain enough data to be played. (E.g., the video data may be missing or the file is corrupted.) Thus, it is most likely that something was wrong with the workflow used to "export" your files to the external drive and when you ignored the fact that the files were not playing correctly, you closed the door on anything that you could do when you deleted the source files. (I.e., the normal workflow here is to copy the entire iPhoto library to the external drive, switch libraries, confirm the new library is working properly and only then delete the boot drive copy of the iPhoto library.)
OBS: When I try to convert the files into something else (AVI, MP4 whatever) either it comes with an error, nothing happens or the converted file wont open. This happens with various convert-programs.
If the data in the files is missing, then there is nothing to be converted by any application.

  • Nokia N95 8gb - m4p files

Almost all of the music tracks on my computer are m4p files (about 30 are m4a files). I've sent all the music files to my phone, but the m4p files come up as blank images. How can I get my phone to play these as music???

hi, first of all you know that the n95 does not read m4a files dont you? you should convert them or download an m4a player for the s60 devices, but for me convertinf them is much better, you can use the 4u video and audio converter it's a good one.
