Converting Illustrator CC (Test version) files for Illustrator CS 6

Hi there,
perhaps someone can help me:
I have created files in illustrator CC (test version) which I can not open any more in Illustrator cs6 version.
How can I save these files in order to be compatible for the newest version cs6?

I am afraid you may lose some of the features by going through EPS, depending on your artwork.
It may be worth trying the relevant among these (especially 1) - 4), hopefully not 6)):
You may try the following (you may have tried/done some of them already) and see whether it helps (the following is a general list of things you may try when it is not in a specific file; 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences):
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer;
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
4) Move the folder with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy);
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool, and reinstall.

first i ve made the jar file of this class
jar cvf chatServer.jar chatServer.classafter getting the jar chatServer.jar. I ve opened the .net dos prompt and
type this command which ll make dll file automatically....

I cant get the problem origin from where it is comming, when i tried to convert it into .dll file it shown an error that, it did not recongnized the method in first class

is not recognized by .net dos prompt commnad. But when i omit this method it gets created the .dll file. This start method is basically the default method of thread class that run the thread from the same class..
By vewing the code u can visulize the thing,, i ve marked the code from where the error is comming.

Is there an HPGL2 test file for a DesignJet T520 36-In that I can directly send to the printer to verify settings and operation?

Converting VHS to editable digital files for iMovie

I am going to convert some of my old VHS tapes to a digital format that I would like to edit in iMovie. What format should I convert them to? Companies seem to offer AVI or Mpeg - which is better? Does it make a difference?
Can anyone recommend a company that does this type of work well?

It sounds like you are suggesting that I should have them transfer the VHS analot tapes into an uncompressed version - is taht you you mean by DV?
DV is actually a digital compression format -- I believe on the order of 5:1 which, for video, is not very compressed. Basically, each frame is a standalone compressed "information picture" and can be edited as such in a video editor unlike Group of Picture (GOP) formats which open with such a frame and then use "difference" frames to store changes between successive frames until the GOP ends and a new one begins. These files (like multiplexed M2V/AC3 files used on a DVD) cannot be edited at the frame level based on the method referencing data to previous frames. On the other hand, such formats are more highly compressed (say on the order of 15-20:1) and are very suitable as formats for the delivery and distribution of content. A typical hour of DV normally requires about 13 GBs of video data space or a data rate of about 25.0-28.5 Mbps. Depending on the type of audio included, this could double and is why DV is so well suited for tape storage over a DVD at say 4.5-9.0 GBs of total storage space.
Is DV a miniDV tape or can you save the file in a DV format on a hardrive?
An external, high capacity hard drive would be an excellent medium for transfer
1) If not transferring too many or too many at any one time
2) If the service can/will provide transfers to DV
3) If the service can write the files to an HFS formatted drive (needed for iMovie '08 to read them)
Some companies offer creating AVI files. Can these be read into iMovie or will these files also have the issue of too many cycles of compression and de-compression?
AVI is a file container used to contain "interleaved" audio content -- a of spatially maintaining synchronization between the audio and video content. QT, on the other hand, is a temporal media structure which synchronizes all content (audio, video, text, chapter tracks, text tracks, "Tween" tracks, etc.) are synchronized by an external clock reference. While the AVI file container is itself still supported by QT (even though its originator, Microsoft, dropped official support a decade ago), the codecs used to compress the audio and video content may not be supported. For instance, one of the current, more popular compression combinations is DivX/MP3. DivX is a proprietary, third-party video codec and MP3 audio is only supported by certain QT-based applications. Since iMovie '08 cannot access any third-party QT components, this file would have to be converted to one of the iMovie '08 "edit" compatible compression formats -- DV, AIC, Motion-JPEG, Photo-JPEG, and/or supported MPEG-4 or H.264 profiles with supported audio compression formats. So if you have a service create an AVI file that is not audio AND video supported, you will end up having to re-compress every one of you files to a supported format. You could, of course, switch to iMovie HD and, if the AVI audio/video combination is "conversion" compatible with QT (a lower requirement than being "edit compatible), then iMovie HD would automatically convert the AVI files as part of the import process. (I.e., if your open/create an iMovie HD DV project, then the files would be converted to DV. If an MPEG-4 iMovie HD project, then MPEG4/AAC.) Either method, as you noted, requires one extra cycle of re-compression before the content even gets into the editor for editing.

It's a really nice program that converts not only your HOME MOVIE DVD VOB files, but AVI, MPEG, and others. You can set the CPU usage from high to low with five settings, it has a queue which you can add multiple files to, and it will minimize to the taskbar for compact convenience. There are other Windows programs that do much the same, but I prefer Videora. Oh ... and it's freeware!!

DNG converter won't open CR2 files for conversion: no items match your search [was: Please help!!!!]

Hello, I am stressing out!! I have downloaded the DNG converter and whenever I try to click on the folder to convert it, it says no items match you're search, I can view the pictures in my desktop just not with the converter. I use windows 8 PC and the file type I'm trying to convert is CR2
if anyone out there knows what's going on please help, I'm second shooting at a wedding next weekend so NEED it sorted by then the thought of a whole day shooting and no results isn't even worth thinking about!

Ok so it's a canon 1200d, it's the 8.7 version. And in using Lightroom 4, it's strange because the first time I plugged it in it worked and I managed to edit all my picture and now I've taken more pictures it doesn't seen to work.

Best format to convert Ultra HD Flip Camera file for FCP editing?

We are using two types of cameras for a video project and one of them is a Flip Camera. Unfortunately, FCP doesn't play too nice with raw flip camera files so I need to convert said file using MPEG Streamclip. What is the best/recommended format to convert the movie file to for FCP editing?

How to convert iDVD theme to .mov file. for use in FCP?

I would like to use the Baby Mobile iDVD theme as a clip in a movie to be created on FCP. I dropped my pics in the iDVD project with the Baby Mobile theme and put in a green background so I could later key out the background and replace it with a different background. I deleted the title and added a short movie to the menu. Because I don't want to use the theme as a DVD menu, I made the menu button the same color as the green background.
I then burned the DVD. Next I ripped the DVD using MactheRipper to give me the Video TS folder. I then used Handbrake to convert the VOB files to Mpeg4. Unfortunately, Handbrake only converted the 10 second movie I put in iDVD and not the Baby Mobile iDVD theme.
Any ideas out there to help me use the iDVD menu theme as a standalone clip in a movie?
I did find the source material of the theme in the Mobile.pox folder; it contains the 2 .mov files with alpha channels but I would rather not go through the time consuming process of keying in the movements and size of my pics to match the Mobile. It would take too much time and I don't know how successful it would be.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Options:
-If you have FCS2, you can use Motion to track the points, thus saving you lots of keyframing time in FCP.
-You can use MPEG Streamclip to rip the DVD (I believe it can find the menu files)
-You can get a screen capture program such as Snapz X Pro to screen capture it.
-As it encodes the media in iDVD's burning process, you can find where it stores the temporary copy of the MPEG2 that it creates, and snag that file before it finishes the burn and deletes it.
NOTE: I've never tried option 4, nor do I know if it will work. I just came up with it.

Can Someone Please test a file for me in DW8 on a Mac?

This is a long-shot and I know I'm asking a lot.
I have been trying to help someone in America with a page going from table-based layout to CSS. I'm in the UK.
So I sent him a .zip and he gets a screwed up page in DW8 but can view it in his browser. I first asked about this in this thread. Paula's been really helpful but if I can find someone with DW8 on a Mac that might help us identify what might be going wrong between us. I'd need to send you the .zip and ask you to put the folder in a site to see how DW8 likes it. The page validates, is pretty straight-forward and holds up for me in IE5 through 8 and FF.
It shouldn't be a problem.

also whether it is a directoryPresumably the caller of your method should know that it only makes sense to call it with a file argument, not a directory. So you could either just allow whatever exception will natrually be thrown when you try to process it like a file, or you could check for it being a directory and throw IllegalArgumentException.
Look at the API docs for java.io.File to find the method to check whether it's a directory.

Stop Pages version files cluttering up my folders?

Version files for Pages docs are saved to the same directory as my doc. Can I stop or hide or relocate these?
(I think they're version files!!! They're a copy of the last saved version with "~" appended to doc name. I'm not getting this with other apps that I've disabled autosave for.)

I've disabled autosave for Pages with command "defaults write com.apple.iWork.Pages ApplePersistence -bool no"
"Ask me to keep changes when closing documents" in System Preferences/General is checked.
"Back up previous versions when saving" in Pages Preferences/General is unchecked.

Don't worry about them. Among the things iPhoto 6 does when it updates, is updates the content of the thumbnails to be more compatible with iPhoto 6. If you interrupted that process when it was doing it, it may leave behind temporary information that should not be deleted.

Packaging files for service providers in Illustrator CS3 necessary?

Yeah, there's no easy way to package up the fonts unless you use Art Files or Scoop. From "Find Font..." you can then go to the finder and search for the fonts you've used. If it's only a couple, it's not too bad. Just make sure you get the right versions... (I know I have about 20 faces of Futura...)
If the service provider isn't going to be making any changes to the copy, then there is really no reason not to outline the fonts.
Outlining fonts changes them from text to shapes, treating them just like any other shape in your file, removing your ability to edit text (so it should be one of the last steps in your pre-flighting of a file) and it guarantees that what you send the printer is what you'll get back.
Keep a live (not outlined) copy of all your files for future use and send the printer an outlined version.
Or, if this is something you're going to be doing a lot of, and you don't want to outline the fonts, look into Art Files or Scoop. I know Art Files is only like $50, and it works great.

Converting illustrator graphics for web

what is the best way to convert Illustrator CS6 artwork for use on a website? I've tried Save for Web > PNG24 but the results are still not great when viewed in Preview or on my web browser.

I had suspected this to be the case but could never find any reliable confirmation on forums/google etc, so thanks for that. I've also just noticed that when creating a new file there is an option to increase the ppi resolution to 300, which seems to be an obvious solution to achieving sharper images.
