Converting imovie video to mp3

I want to make uploading a video on youtube more faster and mp4 slows the processing down what can i do?

compared to what?
YT accepts just a handfull of formats.. the YT-upload preset converts into the most useful - size/resolution/bitrate.
'speed' is defined by your ISPs bandwidth ...
You can reduce the file.size only by reducing quality = smaller resolution, lower frame rate, lower bit-rate ... is that what you want?

hmmm, mp3 is an audio-only format

An easy way to download and convert YouTube videos to MP3 on Mac
I’m always attracted by the wonderful YouTube video files, and can’t help myself extracting the amazing audios to save them as MP3 to playback on my iPod and other MP3 players. I guess some of you may want to do the same thing as I do, but have not found an available application to achieve this goal, if so, I would like to share my experience here, and sincerely hope you can get what you need from my post.
The software I’m in use is Pavtube YouTube Convereter for Mac, which has performed very well on all the work I let it do. It can finish downloading and converting YouTube videos simultaneously in a few clicks. Besides YouTube, it can also deal with the video files from many other video sharing websites, like MySpace, Yahoo! Video, Google Video, Metacafe, Reuters, etc.  Okay, let’s go back to the point to see how to use it to download and convert YouTube videos to MP3 on Mac in detailed steps.
    Step 1: Add YouTube URL
Step 2: Select MP3 as output format
Copy and paste YouTube URL to the textbox after “URL”, meanwhile, if you want to save the original FLV YouTube videos, you can tick “Save FLV File”. Click the drop-down icon at the end of “Convert To” to select MP3 as output format. Furthermore, if you want to save the output MP3 file in your specified file name, you can type it into the textbox after “Save As”, and also, you can click “Browse” button to decide where to locate the output MP3 files.
    Step 3: Adjust audio parameters
Click “Custom” button, then the following interface will show up, on which you are able to adjust audio parameters like codec name, sample rate, bit rate and audio channels.
Step 4: Start downloading and converting simultaneously
As soon as all the above steps are finished, you can click the “OK” button in step 2, after that, downloading and converting YouTube videos to MP3 will start automatically. Once completed, you can click “Open” button in the interface as below to get the output MP3 files with ease.

Download and convert Youtube video to MP3---Just with one click
Last week, when wandering around the Youtube watch.com, I was enthralled with the theme song of "Lost", especially the words of the song "I found out, on the corner of first and amistad, where the west was all but won all weeklong, smoking his last cigarette, I said: "Where you been?" He said: "ask anything.""......"
I couldn’t help expecting to save this song to my personal players. What a delightful thing listening to the song while walking or waiting for a bus! Okay, do you have the same experience as me? When hearing an exciting speech or dialogue, are you thirsty for downloading them and saving as your best memory?
Download, convert Youtube to mp3?—yes, you can.
Anna, one of my best friends, has posed a question "I have a Mac notebook and I only need the audio (mp3 music) of a certain Youtube movie, what shall I do?" The solution to the problem is shown as below:
Step one: Install a Youtube Converter for Mac as follows:
Step two: import the URL of Youtube video (or batches of URL) you wanna convert using "Add URL" icon. Select output format like audio (MP3) by "Settings" and customize your output file path with "Browse".
Step three: If you want your output audio much better, you can set the audio resolution like Bit Rate, Channels or Sample Rate presented in the following picture.
Step four: Click "Ok” button, it automatically download and convert your youtube videos simultaneously. After a few minutes, you can get the desirable audio (mp3) you want and enjoy it on any portable devices.
Download, convert Youtube videos to iPod, iPhone, iPhone 3Gs, PSP, Creative Zen, Zune, iRiver, and etc. --- done by one click.
Generally, if you want to download a Youtube video and then convert them to MP3 for your mobile devices, you need two Youtube tools: Youtube Downloader and Youtube Converter. But, now, with Pavtube Youtube Converter for Mac, you can both download and convert massive videos by clicking one "Ok" button.
Now, all the best, you can enjoy versatile Youtube music at a waiting room, on a bus, traveling, walking around the park or lying on your bed..

Youtube's ToU specifically state that downloads of any content is prohibited unless there is a download button available for a particular video.

  • Convert mp4 video to mp3 audio?

Does anyone know how I could take just the audio from a MP4 video and save it as an MP3?

Hey KenjiL- for the future- other options for you.
Wiretap Pro- It will record any audio playing on your computer. The unregistered version will only record aiffs but that would be perfect for cds. The registered version is definitly worth the couple bucks for the extra features though.
    OR
FFmpegX-- Just a general great conversion utility that will prety much go for anything to anything so long as you download the binaries for the encoders. Great stuff.

  • Need to convert .m4v video to be editable in iMovie '09. Driving me insane!

I am new to Macs as a whole, and have only owned my MacBook Pro for a month, now. I am skilled in iMovie '06, however, as it was a program I used at school for three years. I made some videos for my media class using iMovie '06 that I then exported to iDVD and burned. The original videos/files are at school. All I have are the DVDs. I'd like to put these videos online. I know how to use HandBrake to rip the video file off the DVD. For videos ten minutes or less, I've been able to use the .m4v file to upload to YouTube. However, I have three videos that clock in around 17 minutes, which YouTube rejects. All I want to do is open the files in iMovie and cut them in half. I know where I want to cut, and I don't want to do any editing of any kind.
iMovie won't open .m4v files, however. So I don't know what to do. What program should I use to convert the .m4v video file to a format iMovie will open and allow me to splice the video?
Is HandBrake a program for that and I'm just using it wrong?
Or do I have to choose a whole 'nother program to rip the video file off the DVD.
In short: these are my works, I want to know what FREE program to use to rip them from the DVD and be able to open them in iMovie '09 to cut them in half, or, which program to use to convert .m4v into a format readable by iMovie '09.
Please tell me in idiot's terms. I'm not that proficient with video editing or computers, so I need it laid out clear and simple.
    Thanks!

an m4v file can be renamed to mov!!
First try that.. if you can play it your done. if you can not download perian.
If perian can't.. then you can buy quicktime pro.
I own quicktime pro and bough perian to support the video that quicktime pro didn't. When I convert avchd video from my camcorder on my G5 to something editable in imovie I use ffmpeg and also handbrake. handbrake created m4v files.
All I do is rename them and Imovie can read them in.

  • What is the best converter for video files in mpeg, avi, wmv, mps, etc for imovie and what type of video files does the iMovie use? I recently purchased a MacBook Pro -version 10.10.1. I make movies, but the iMovie does not support my video files.

What is the converter for video files, to use in the iMovie? My files are mpeg, wmv, mts, avi, etc.  I recently purchased a MacBook Pro - version 10.10.1.

  • I am attempting to convert 8mm video cassettes to dvd using a video cassette player, elgato video capture with rca/usb connections to the mac, editing in imovie and burning on idvd. The picture quality is awful. What can I do?????

I am attempting to convert 8mm video cassettes to dvd using a video cassette player, elgato video capture with rca/usb connections to the mac then editing in imovie and burning dvd-r using idvd. The picture quality is awful. What can I do??????

At what point is the video quality bad?  Is it bad on capture?  I would recommend using an s-video 1394 firewire converter instead.  They capture the video at a higher bit rate.  If you have a lot of 8mm tapes to capture, invest in a stand alone DVD recorder.  They capture and compress in one shot.  If you need to rip it back from the DVD into iMovie again, I would recommend using DVDxDV.

  • I've recently downloaded Wondershare software and converted many video files. I'm in the process of creating a movie and imovie keeps quitting on me. Wondering if there is a problem with Wodershare imac conpatibility?

I recently purchased Wondershare software. I've converted many video files and made a movie. imovie quitting. Wondering if there is a problem with Wondershare and imac compatibility. Any thoughts?
    Rick

Not sure about the codec- Wondershare asked where I was sending to in setup and I selected imovie. It did the rest. I have been successful with editing on storyboard, but imovie (09) quits when I attempt to view project full screen, or prepare the movie for sharing. I have removed some files (to ensure headroom), and have installed most recent updates.

  • How to convert mp4 videos (HD) for use on the new ipad in imovie without a mac.

    Hi,
Please help. I have many videos taken with my sony cybershot camera (Mpv4 (HD)). I have the new ipad and have downloaded imovie. I have converted the videos so they can be viewed on the ipad but imovie will not recognize them. I have a Pc (not a Mac) and have watched many youtube tutorials on how to convert my videos for use on the new ipad and imovie but so far no success.

If you are on the PC there are a LOT of video converters you can use. One of them is Freemake: http://www.freemake.com/
It's free, no ads or banners, clean interface, simple to use, and you can convert to various formats with ease.

  • Can't convert videos to MP3 in Windows iTunes

In the Mac version of iTunes, I can convert a video podcast into an audio-only MP3 file. I do this by highlighting the podcast episode, then going to File and clicking on "Create New Version" then holding down the "option" key to activate the "Convert to MP3."
But when I try this in the Windows version of iTunes, I cannot get "Convert to MP3" to activate. Instead, it remains grayed out and nonfunctional. My Windows keyboard doesn't have an "option" key and neither the "ctrl" key nor the Windows key nor the "alt" key will activate the command.
So how do I get "Convert to MP3" command to activate.

This is SUPER, what I use to convert videos. All the settings I have selected are what I used to get the video to work. The problem I had before is that someone told me that the iPod uses MPEG-4 video, and I assumed that .mp4 was the file extension(Output Container sets what the file extension will be) for MPEG-4. Turns out, it's not. The OUTPUT VIDEO CODEC needed to be MPEG-4, but what I had it set to was H.264/AVC. So the Output Container was right, just not the Output Video Codec.
So basically, the fix is to just use the right settings Which, if you use SUPER, is everything I have shown(Adjust the bitrates to your liking. More is higher quality, less battery life. I just watched "Wanted" last night with those current settings, and it looked and sounded alright, but I'll probably put the audio up to the next level for any future movies).

  • Convert iTunes videos to use in iMovie and iDVD

Okay, I have downloaded some videos from iTunes Music Store. I do not own an iPod that can support videos. I want to use the videos in iMovie and eventually put them in iDVD to play on my home DVD player. However, I cannot find a converter so that I can place them into iMovie or iDVD. How can I convert them from .m4p to a format that iMovie or iDVD can recognize?
There must be a shareware, freeware or commercial product that can do this conversion.

Sorry, but the copy protection on the videos (mandated by the content owners) prevents you from converting the videos to any other format. They can only be played (in iTunes or QuickTime Player or on a video-capable iPod); they cannot be used in any other application.

  • What are people using to convert .3gp video files into something compatible with iMovie? Does Apple have SW to do this?

I am trying to find the best and safest way to convert .3gp video from my Blackberry into a file format that iMovie will recognize.  I see lots of potential downloads, but I am hoping for some recommendations on which SW is most helpful.  Thanks.

There is a free App called MPEG Streamclip from Squared 5. You can drag your .3gp into MPEG Streamclip. Then FILE/EXPORT TO QUICKTIME.
For HD sizes (1280x720 or 1920x1080), choose Apple Intermediate Codec as the Video Codec.
For smaller sizes, you can also use Apple Intermediate Codec, but h.264 will also work and will give a smaller file size.
Then import this new file into iMovie using FILE/IMPORT MOVIES

  • Converting m4a files to mp3

How do i convert m4a files to mp3 format? Call me old fashion but i still like to burn a mp3 disc. thanks

Are you using iMovie? Can you explain what/how you are getting to the point that you want to burn the video. My suggestions would depend on your workflow and I burn movies to DVD quite often.

  • Converting m2ts videos for iPhoto slide show.

My brother used a new camera during a recent trip we took together. He has some great videos, but they are m2ts format and I use iPhoto to produce my slide shows. (I burn the slide show using iDVD). How do I convert his videos so that I can use them? My computer is not able to open them at this point.

One for the iMovie forum, I think.
