  • Help with downloading previously purchased movies to new ipad mini

I just bought a new ipad mini and I can't download purchased movies and music to he mini. When I attempt to download the music and movies from the cloud, the download meter shows progress up to 100% and then stops. When I go to my video section or music section, there are no downloads. I have read a ton of articles and attempted every solution possible. I restored my ipad mini from the ipad. I synced with iTunes and tried to download the music and movies from there. Nothing seems to work. Mysteriously, there are times in iTunes that e video meter shows a lot of space on my ipad being used by videos. Then it goes away and then shows it again later as if he videos are taking up space on the ipad. When connected to iTunes, if I click "on this ipad" then movies it shows the movies listed numerous times (showing I have attempted) over and over. Still there are no movies and no music. Can someone that is an apple expert help me solve this problem? I have tried all that I know. I have even tried to convert the videos to ipad format but that option is grayed out. If I click on a movie and go to the convert options they are all grayed out. I have looked at the content ratings, the resolution, and even a suggestion about surround sound. Nothing works for me. I contacted apple support and the lady was unhelpful and suggested I call for paid support. I do not feel like paying for help on an expensive item that I just purchased and does not seem to work. Help!

You can download the trial version of the software thru the page linked below and then use your current serial number to activate it.
Be sure to follow the steps outlined in the Note: Very Important Instructions section on the download pages at this site or else the download will not work properly.

  • How to transfer selected apps and movies to new iPad?

I just received my iPad 3, and I would like to transfer some, but not all, of my apps and videos from my iPad 1.
I'm pretty confused as to the meaning of the Apps tab in iTunes. There is a list of apps to the left. Is this a list of all the apps that are "stored" in iTunes, whether or not they are on my iPad (or iPhone)? As far as I can tell, all those that are checked are also on my iPad. But there are some that are unchecked that are on my iPad.
Then there are "screenshots" of the pages of an iPad to the right. Generally, the layout of the apps on these screens match those on my iPad, but there is one app on the screenshot that's not on my iPad.
If I were to plug my new iPad in now and restore from this backup, what apps would move to the new iPad? How can I control those? Basically I would like to delete a lot of unsued apps from my iPad without losing them forever.
Same kinds of questions with videos.

The apps that have checkmarks next to the names are the apps that are selected to sync.
Those screenshots that you see are all of the home screens on the iPad and why you see an app on the screenshot that is not on the iPad does not make sense. If you see it on one of those screenshots - it should be on the iPad.
Anyway - simply select all of the items that you want to sync to the new iPad. Click on the boxes next to the names to select them. Deselect apps the same way - click on the boxes to remove the checkmarks.
You can pick and choose all of the content in each tab in iTunes - apps, music, photos. books - whatever - you can control what it syncs by selecting and selecting. Videos included. All of these apps that have checkmarks next the boxes will sync to my iPad.
This is how you select the movies that you want to sync.
All of the content that is checked in iTunes is what would sync - but that is not what would be restored from the backup. The backup contains all of your app data and app settings, the device settings, safari history and bookmarks, contacts, calendar entries, camera roll - and so on. The backup does not contain your media - you still have to sync that from iTunes.

  • Trouble synching movies to new iPad

I recently migrated my Itunes library to an external drive. I can connect to it from either my iMac (to which it is tethered) or MacBook Pro via my wireless router (Time Capsulte). So far good. I only open one library at a time, which I understand is a limitation of this approach and that's fine with me. I synched my iPhone successfully to my MacBook Pro with no problems.
However, I replaced my iPad (ate the restocking fee in order to get the Wifi + 3G 64GB version. In synching this new iPad to my MacBook Pro, for some reason, if I check my movies (I am set to manually organize my musics and videos), then click Apply, my older movies will not synch. I see these movies in my Library, so I cannot figure out what is wrong. I have the most recent updates to Snow Leopard, iTunes, etc.
My TV shows synch fine, books, i.e., when I check them, they get copied --it's only the movies. I seem to have at least 40GB available and the movies in question don't total more than 10GB.
Help! Can't figure out where the glitch is.

    give this a try:
select one of the problem files in iTunes and, from the advanced menu, select +create iPad or Apple TV version+.
try syncing the newly created file.

  • Thought i downloaded a movie on new ipad, but when i started to play it, about half way through it stopped .  my time is up in a few hours.  what can i do?

I downloaded a movie several days ago to my new ipad.   I thought it had completed the download.  I started to watch today and it keeps stopping.  I accidently started it yesterday so the 24 hour time limitation started.  What can I do??  Would Itunes be willing to give me another few hours?

  • ITunes fails to copy movies to new iPad Air

    Hello,
I got myself this new iPad air to replace my 3rd gen iPad. I naturally wanted to transfer everything from one device to the other so I did a backup on my local PC (Windows 7 x64, iTunes 11.1.3.8), connected the new device and instructed iTunes to restore the backup from my previous iPad (I then reset and cleared the iPad so I could gift it)
It took some time, but it worked for pretty much everything. The exception being my music and vidoes. I could see them as being on the ipad from iTunes on my computer but the iPad itself reported empty libraries.
For music, I just enabled the iTunes match service on the ipad (for some reason, it wasn't activated) but I have to manually delete all movies in the device from iTunes and sync them again.
That worked but not very well and only once.
It didn't work very well because, while I had the movies on the iPad, could see the details when I tapped one and play it just fine, none of the movies had a title displayed in the library (on in the detail when i tapped on it).
I tried to fix it by re-setting the meta tags in iTunes, delete the movies again from the iPad and then re-upload them but now, no movie will upload at all: iTunes would state that it it synching the first one, spend a lot of time and then finally time out. On the iPad, I can see a generic movie icon apearing suring the transfert and then an error apear in the notification center asking me to check iTunes and no movie any more.
All these movies are ripped from DVDs so none contains any DRM.
Of course, everything worked just fine with my previous iPad.
Any suggestion on how I can solve this ?
    Thank you

Same exact thing happened to me today.  I opened up iTunes and it isn't recognizing my iPad as one that I already set up and is saying "Welcome to Your New iPad" and making me either set it up as new or to restore from a backup.  I don't want to do either and it won't let me get past this screen; I am being forced to pick one or the other and unable to sync anything!  What the heck!

  • How to move to new ipad

waht is Easiest procedure to move from ipad 1 to ipad 4 and retain all data?

Connect your one to your syncing computer
Open iTunes and do a full sync and backup.
    Disconnect and set it aside
Hook up your new 4. Go through the set up procedures
when faced with the question 'Set up as new or restore from a back up of (the name of your old one)' Choose to restore from the backup.
It'll go through its motions and will make your new iPad a near clone of your old one. You'll need to resync content, set up the internet and well need to eventually re-enter passwords for websites, but your data will move across.
I traded in my iPod 4 and got a 5 a couple of months ago and it did take a bit of time, but my new one is just like my old one content wise.

  • Can I move to New iPad w/o a computer?

I've got an iPad 2 and am considering moving to the new iPad.
I no longer own my Mac desktop but want to transfer all my stuff to new iPad.
Can it be done ccomputer free? Do I have to borrow or buy a computer to accomplish this?
I wish the iPad were truely an independent device.
    Thanks.

Starting from scratch, you most certainly can. My new iPad has never been plugged into my MacBookPro, at all. Potentially, there are some troubleshooting activities that would require a computer, but for routine operation, as of iOS 5, you don't need to. It would be wise to take advantage of iCloud or a similar service for backup and file storage and to help facilitate moving files. An app like drop copy would also help.
I do have to add the caveat that I do not keep a lot of files on my iPad, and little app data that can't be replicated, so,starting from scratch on the set up was not a big deal (in fact, it helps me clear out a lot of useless apps and othe content I didn't need ). I also have iTunes match which makes getting non iTunes purchased music on the iPad much easier.

  • Retrieve movies on new iPad?

On vacation, I had to replace my iPad with a new one.  How to I retrieve movies that were rented on the old iPad but not viewed yet?

I am guessing that you will have to contact the iTunes store support to answer that one. If you download a rental to the iPad it is only viewable on that device and it cant be transferred to another device. It's not like you have the movies on your computer and you can even try to move them over. You can read this.

  • HT1349 Updated my operating system to Mountain Lion and iMovie will not play movies developed through the old iMovie HD program.  Any idea how to convert the movies or buy an app that will do that.

Having trouble converting iMovieHD to the new updated iMovie dowloaded with Mountain Lion.  Any ideas

Given the extreme limitations outlined in the article Allen linked to, and given thst iMovie HD 6 is known to work with Mountain Lion, you might be better served by installing iMovie 6 on your Mac.
You can still keep iMovie 11 as well:
Happily this is easily achieved, but it has to be done backwards.
Delete iMovie 11 (just drag it to the trash). Now install iMovie 6 from the iLife 6 install disks. Update it to iMovie 6.0.3.
Now re-install iMovie 11. This automatically moves iMovie 6 into a folder it creates in your Applications folder called iMovie Previous Version.
    Then reinstall iMovie 11.
iMovie 6 works great with iDVD 7.
Now you have them both, and you can have both in the Dock as well.

Haven't really used any of them including VLC - actually use netflix on the ipad more than anything. I was able to drop an mp4 into imovie on my ipad and see it there. This was something I had shot as avhcd and converted with turbo.264. Played fine. Probably not what you want for a movie player though.
Well, turbo.264 is indeed very nice to have - even for converting full-sized movies. (Nevertheless, TechRadar's latest roundup (see http://www.techradar.com/news/software/applications/6-of-the-best-video-converte rs-for-mac-1074303 ; also linked from another roundup at http://www.iphonelife.com/blog/87/benchmark-excellent-multimedia-converter-handb rake-vs-commercial-apps ) has shown it's still worse than HandBrake in most respects.)
All H.264 files (assuming they are H.264 level 4.1 or lower) are compatible with the built-in Videos app.

Those of you who use other players, what do you reccomend? Just curious.
It entirely depends on your needs. The top players (AVPlayerHD / ProPlayer, It's Playing, GoodPlayer) all have different strengths and weaknesses. I myself use It's Playing the most as I convert everything into MP4 and simply love the DSP's (brightness / volume / saturation boosting). (Its software decoders are definitely worse than those of AVPlayerHD / ProPlayer; however, MP4's are played back from hardware.)

  • My iTunes purchased movies will not sync to the New iPad(3) even though I have an HD version and an SD version. Are there specs somewhere for media files?

I have purchased a few movies in iTunes on the MacBook Pro and after dowloading, I am not able to sync them to my new iPad. I look at the contents of the download and I have an HD file and an SD file, I assumed it would sync the SD file automatically if it cannot handle the HD on the device (although it should be able to).
What are the different reasons a movie won't sync to iPad (frame rate, file size, definition, etc.) and what are the options to make these files compatable with my iPad? Can I rip them again or run them through a conversion utility? Is there a setting in iTunes somewhere I am missing?
Is there a post somewhere thatr already covers this? If so, I can't find it. Would be great to have a baseline of what can be handled by device so I can figure out how to make my media compatable.

the spcs page on this site state which video formats the ipad supports
I'd suggest converting your old videos to one of those formats
handbrake is a free program which does this for you
itunes used to be able to too when I right clicked incompatible media but don't see the option any more
or maybe it only show when one right click incompatible media and currently my lib don't have any
about the music then it's odd what formats are they?
if they are acc protected have you tried to remove the DRM this can be don using itunes as
apple don't use DRM for music any more

  • Is it possible to convert music on my PC to a playable new ipad format without using itunes?

I am considering buying the Seagate Goflex external drive to stram movies to the new ipad in order to save GB space.  Is it worth the $200.  also,I want to stram music from this device(if i buy it as well.  Can I convert the music toa format playable on the new Ipad without converting it in itunes?

sure, you will need your iPhone running the latest iOS, an Airport Express and a wifi network....a computer for the initial setup of the router and Airport Express too.
One you have complete the setups, the only thing you need to connect it's to make sure your wifi network is on and that your iPhone and Airport Express are connected to the wifi network.
The airplay icon is then used to control which speakers you want to use.

  • Copying movies to the new iPad

Hi, I was ondering if someone could help me/offer advice. We take a DVD player for the kids, when we go on holiday, hgaving to take 10 DVDs or so. We also take the new iPad with us for the kids to play games & I was thinking its a shame we cant get the DVD's that we have purchased onto the ipad & just take that with us. So Im not after illegally downlaoding movies to the iPad....but is there any way that bought DVD's e.g Ice Age can be imported onto the iPad?
    Many thanks
    James

We can't help you with commercial DVDs like Ice Age. Converting the file format requires that you break the CSS encryption and we can't tell you how to do that.
The cheapest option would be to take a portable DVD player if you have one (You can pick one up for 100ish I think, haven't shopped for a long time), or if youwant them on the iPad, purchase copies from iTunes, or rent them. (Although you will need to pay attention and make sure the rental isn't a streaming service but a download service)
If any of your movies have digital copies you may be able to get those on a computer and into itunes and then sync'd.
