Converting interactive DVD to IPad ?

I have an interactive DVD which I would like to be able to play on my IPad (Gen 4). It is an educational DVD with lessons for each section.
Can this be done and if so, how?
Thank you for your help.

Here is further clarification from the owner of the DVD's. Does this change how to convert so I can view on iPad?
They are NOT protected (DRM) but if I were to start making copies for friends (which I am not) then they would claim copy right.
DVD's are essentially a website on a DVD. To view them on iPad they have to be on something that looks like a
web server to the iPad.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,

Which is the best software to convert dvd to IPad 2d

unfortunately discussing the breaking of the encryption that comes with commercial dvd's is prohibited in these forums. however a quick google search will get you to quite a few software providers....
on a personal note, i don't agree with the fact that we can't "legally" transfer dvd's because breaking the encryption is considered illegal, even though the "fair use act" has said that copying dvd's for personal use or for backup purposed is considered legal. it's just the software to do that isn't. i'm not one who would rip a dvd then make multiple copies to make a financial gain. i just want to be able to convert my "old" media into a format that meets my current needs.
good luck my friend on your search. i really wish i could help you more

Is there anyway to convert video taken by ipad and burn it to a DVD that can play on DVD player?

    Persius,
Nearly every DVD that will play on a set-top player *should* play on a computer, provided two things:
1.) the computer has a DVD player that can handle that flavor of DVD media, DVD RW, DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD DL, etc.
2.) the computer has a software player installed. This feature has been removed from some common media players. You may need to locate, download and install a separate software player.
There could be another discussion on interlaced vs progressive scan media, but I'll let you ask that question.

  • I am having issues with converting some DVD to Video and getting it to load on iPad

I have used Format Factory to convert a DVD to Video - It will play on Computer, and load into iTunes but will not load on to iPad?

Click on the video in itunes and then click on the Advanced Menu option at the top, and click on "Create iPad or Apple Tv version".
This will create a file optimized to play on the iPad. Then just sync that version over.

  • Converting dvds for ipad

I've seen some 3rd party software to convert my DVD's to a format compatible with IPAD 2. Anyone used these?
    what's your review? favorite?
    thanks..

if you're referring to commercial and hence copy-protected DVDs, breaking the copy protection, which would be necessary to copy the videos from the DVD and convert them, is illegal in the US (and other countries), so we're not allowed to discuss it here.
If these are home movies that you or someone has burned to DVD and hence are not copy-protected, Handbrake (freeware), as Ho Lee suggested, is one of the more popular converters. Once converted, you just drag the movie into the iTunes window on your computer and you can then sync it to your iPad.

  • Porting/converting an interactive DVD to Flash/SWF/FLV?

Is it possible to make a complete mirror port or conversion of an existing interactive DVD to Flash (swf+flv) so that I can put it online and interact with it with my mouse through a flash enabled browser, just like were running on a DVD player, with all the existing interactivity (menus, chapters) intact? I know about Adobe Encore CS4:
http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere/e... (See "Publishing of DVD projects to the web")
but I can't see that you can import an exisiting DVD into Encore. You would first have to build your own menus, chapters, timeline, etc., then you could export it to Flash...
If this is not possible in Encore CS4, how can I do this?  Thanks

It's not possible with Encore - you must have an Encore project, and DVD is not an importable source in Encore.
I don't know if there is even any software in existence which could do what you are asking.

  • How to show business dvd on ipad 4?

I have a business DVD that I now show from laptop or DVD player.  How do I use iPad to show this DVD presentation?

You can't use an iPad to play a DVD disk directly. You'll need to convert the DVD to a format the iPad can play - if these are not copy-protected disks Handbrake works well and has a preset for the iPad - and then sync the video to the iPad through iTunes.

  • I had all my old home video's and super 8 movies converted to DVD's. Since I will move back to Europe I asked the company to convert them to PAl system.

I had all my old home video's and super 8 movies converted to DVD's. Since I will move back to Europe I asked the company to convert them to PAl system. I just got all the DVD's for a lot of money, but I can not play any of them on my MAC book.(I think that is because they were burned on zone 1 dvd's and my lap top works with zone 2.
I wonder how I can make them work on my macbook..? I intended to start editing those movies so I need to be able to play them on my mac. Is there a way to copy them to zone 2 DVD's and or to zone 0 dvd's and where do I get those free zone or zone 1 recordable dvd's?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
The Apple TV 2 will play all the content in your iTunes library that your Apple TV 1 does. It can no longer sync any of it but can stream it all just as the older model did. Airplay is a different feature that lets you stream from an iPad/iPhone, the Apple TV 2 has Airplay the first didn't.
You can still sort and search content by genre, it still marks content watched and unwatched and mainly still lets you organise much as the Apple TV 1 did, with one exception. It doesn't do nested folders, so the ability to tag a movie as a show (ie James Bond) and have all the associated movies in a James bond folder has gone and it lists all these movies individually.
It has a similar situation with TV shows. It will put all TV shows in a series in a folder as the older one did, but the new one lists each series separately whereas the older model would put all the series in one folder.
Not nesting folders is a bit of a pain with large libraries and whilst I don't like it, it's more or less the only compromise I have to make and of course I get additional features too.

  • How do I convert a DVD-R to MP4 format?

Help? How do i convert a DVD-R (Home Movie) to MP4 Format, for a drop in to iTunes/sync to an iPad?  Is there a good source to downlaod free software that can do the trick?  Thanks...

    what OS do you have?
    http://handbrake.fr/downloads.php
    is the most current versions.
and then there's the previous versions
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/handbrake/files/
    Or give mpegstreamclip a try.
    http://www.squared5.com/
I don't find it difficult to try but some have said that it is. YMMV.
I know how to use it and do all the time, it's just hard to do it 'blind'.

  • Dvd to ipad

Is there any way to transfer dvd to ipad.
    Thanks

The easiest way is to look on youtube and do a search. Sorry, I don't have the link, but there are computer guru's who will walk you through step by step and tell you what software you will need. This worked great for me and I have converted 3 of my dvd's to my iPad. Hope this helps.

  • Can you watch dvds on ipad mini

what is the simplest way to watch a dvd on my ipad mini?

Usually, there are 2 mothds to put DVD movies on your iPad mini:
Method 1: Convert the DVD to MP4 with the open source media converter Handbrake.
It's a totally free solution. However, as the description on its official site describes: " Handbrake can process most common multimedia files and any DVD or BluRay sources that do not contain any kind of copy protection", you can only deal with DVDs without copy protections. However, in fact, most commercial DVDs you bought or rent are copy-protected.
If you just want to play home-made DVDs on your iPad mini, handbrake is enough; if you want to play commercial ones, refer to method 2.
Method 2: Use the professional DVD to iPad mini software to save your DVD as iPad videos.
All DVDs can be easily handled effortlessly.

  • Keynote Interactive DVD

After doing some research I have discovered that Keynote does not have the ability to export a file where it can be used as an interactive DVD (strange this feature does not exist).
Anyway, I have been finding some application that are more like a DVD authoring tool. I have even found application that will take a Powerpoint presentation and convert them into a interactive dvd so that all hyperlinks would be DVD menus and submenus.
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to locate one that will do the same for Keynote. I was wondering if anyone has used any Mac application that will perform the type of tasks that I am looking to complete?
I have a presentation on Keynote that I want to put on DVD but have it retain it's interactive features. So far, I have had no luck in trying to accomplish this. It doesn't seem like this would be too much to do. I don't know why Keynote does not have this feature built in.
    Thanks in advance

May I join in your club. Although we can export to QT or power point it always looses a lot. I would like to be able to export to a dvd. But let's not forget the primary objective of keynote and the amazing prive we pay for it.
