Converting Livecycle Dynamic XML pdf forms to Word?

How do I convert a dynamic XML pdf form created from Livecycle designer ES to Microsoft word? I have Acrobat X and when I click on File -> Save As - > and choose 'Save as type' as "Microsoft Word Document (*.doc)", I am getting this message: "Save as failed to process this document. No file was created."
Is this because its a dynamic XML form with many javascripts in the form design? if not, what could be the cause of this that is making the file not savable to word format? All of these forms are created from Livecycle designer and I have tried using Acrobat X to convert them to word but it doesnt work.

Hi,
don't expect an exact result.
The conversion always is an interpretation of the given layout and may be not perfect in all details.
There is not script you can add to a button to automate this workflow, especially not  for Reader, as it doesn't have any export functions.
I tested Adobe ExportPDF services, which are available in Reader XI, but those only export the shell PDF of a XFA form, so it's not usable for those PDF's (image below).

Any possibility that Reader for Android will ever work with dynamic XML PDF forms created by Abobe Acrobat Pro?

GoodReader ($4.99), ezPDF Reader ($2.99) and PDF Expert ($9.99) are well rated and support many more features.

  • Dynamic xml pdf form, but actions not allowed

I have built a form and would like to make the users aware that some fields are compulsory. With the validation I only see American options for postcode or telephone. When I create my own example it is not accepted (disappears). Actions can't be added as it states that it will not work with HTML, but I have not set that in.
Users must be able to download form from site or receive it in e-mail, fill it in and print it (they need to sign it, so online submission is not practical)
    I use Windows 7 - Adobe LiveCycle 2010
The form is set for The Netherlands
Could someone tell me if the countrysetting have anything to do with it or where else I might have gone wrong?

  • Adobe LiveCycle Dynamic XML forms & Apple iPad

Are Adobe LiveCycle Dynamic XML forms viewable/useable by Apple iPad and Apple phone or other mobile devices?

According to Adobe, you can with LiveCycle ES4. At least, that's how I read their blog post on ES4 Mobile forms support.
Of course, there have been several discussions started about this in the Adobe forums.

  • Load image dynamically by scripting to dynamic xml pdf, is it possible?

    Hi All,
I've uploaded static pdf form to http://groups.google.com/group/livecycle/web/logo.pdf.
    The form contains ImageField.
In the "docReady" event of the form I wrote a script:
    ImageField1.value.image.href="http://www.quicksoft.co.il/images/
    quicksoftlogo2.jpg";
When the form is loaded the ImageField shows the image from the url
    I've updated in the script.
Once the form is saved as dynamic xml pdf the script stop working.
Is that means that it is not possible to load images by scripting to
    dynamic xml pdfs?
Anyone familiar with workarounds for it?
    Thanks in advance,
    Rbuz

I got an answer from Adobe:
Dynamic change of an image href has been disabled due to potential security issues. There are however a few workarounds to choose from:
    1. Embedding the images in the form as hidden objects. They can then be set to visible on initialize or clicking a button. This will affect performance, but if the images are in a compressed format, this can be minimized.
    2. Create a Web service interface to grab the image from wherever they are stored, base64 encode it and return it to the form. You would also have to update the bindings for the image field on the form (a one time operation).

What do you mean by dynamically? When yo set up a 2D bar code field you specify which field name/value pairs you want to include, along with other parameters. But be aware that they won't work with Reader unless you Reader-enable the document with LiveCycle Reader Extensions and include the bar code usage right. It will work with Acrobat Standard/Pro.

You need to use the CHAT link in support to reach Adobe staff. Be sure you know the product name you are trying to cancel, Adobe have lots of products, several converters etc. I think it is ExportPDF you have, most likely.

  • Converting PDF Forms to Word and Then Back to PDF with Forms In Tact

    Hello,
We are currently having a heck of a time replacing some keywords in a collection of about a thousand PDF forms.  These forms were created in Word without any interactive functionality and then converted to PDF.  The simple form interactions were then added using Acrobat.
We figured out a way to replace all of the keywords by converting the PDF to Word, and then running a Visual Basic macro that does a Find and Replace on all of the documents at once.  Our problem is that we lose the functionality of the forms when we convert them to Word.  The docs have to be converted back to PDFs, and putting in all of the form interactivity in each file would take far longer than we have.
Is there a better way to go about this than we're attempting?
Is there a way to do these conversions and keep the interactive forms?
We essentially want the forms to behave exactly as they did, just with a few keywords changed.
Thanks for any help you can offer!

  • Convert filled in PDF form to Word

I've got a fillable PDF document that I have saved about 10 fields on it. I want to convert it to Word. When I do that, the Word document always shows the blank fields without the information I've filled in.
How can I get a Word document that has the filled in fields that are in the PDF document?

    Hi GordonPrince,
In order to save data entered into a PDF form in Reader, the PDF form must be Reader enabled. Please see Adobe Acrobat X Pro * Enable Reader users to save form data for more information.

  • Cannot convert my PDF form to Word, even though I purchased Adobe's "Convert to Word" product

I am trying to fill out a PDF form, but it is apparently "read-only" and I cannot type in my info on the form.  I clicked on the "convert to Word" icon, and I then purchased your product to enable me to change to "Word" so i could type on it, but it is not accepting my user ID and password, although I can sign into your website with my user name and password with no problem

  • URGENT:  convert pdf Form to Word Form

Ihave a filled in pdf form and a blank form and I need to convert each to a Word form. acro pro 7 If I had vers 8.0 pro, would the steps be any different?
what is the fastest way to do this? The boss says the pdf form is not flexible enough but I cannot ask her more at this moment.

As long as you have been using Acrobat, I am surprised that your boss would have such a question. I thought of one possibility if the form fields are not retained in WORD, but don't know if it will work. You could try to save as HTML (I usually have best luck with HTML 3) and then open that in WORD. That might give you a back door to keep the form fields in much the same way opening a HTML form in Acrobat retains the form fields. Just a thought if the WORD save does not work.
In terms of flexibility, it is a simple matter to create the form (without fields) in WORD (the master document), make changes, and create a new PDF. Then the modified pages can simply be used to replace those in the old form (don't forget to work on a copy). I guess that is the second idea that is probably the route you were planning to take. Again, bood luck with the boss and with WORD. Bill

  • Why cant i convert a pdf form to word that has xfa

trying to convert a pdf document to Word but no matter which format I try to export to I get the message that PDF files containing XFA forms cannot be saved to th3e specific format.  I need to fill out this form and I do not need to save it.

    Hi sallyandbobh,
XFA form can't be converted to word document that has xfa structure which is different that a normal PDF document.
You may try to print the same document using the PDF printer if you have Acrobat installed.
Then you can convert that document to word reason being that will get flattened.

  • How to populate Adobe LiveCycle Designer generated  PDF Forms with data from Database in Windows app

    Hi
I have a PDF template designed in Adobe LiveCycle Designer. This template has form fields which needs to be filled with data programmatically. I am using windows application in C#.Net 2005 in which I want to retrieve data from database and merge this data into PDF form in respective fields.
    How this can be achieved?
I searched a lot & I found that we can process the XDP file generated from PDF to acheive this. I created the XDP file out of the PDF template created in designer. But I don't know how to merge data from database into that XDP file in respective fields and again convert this XDP file back to PDF programmatically. Can anybody help me ? This is urgent.
    Thanks in advance.
