Converting M4A to MP3 for use in Zen Mi

Can anyone recommend a good utility program (no spyware) that I can use to convert M4a files to MP3 for play in my Micro? Currently I am burning to cd then ripping again in MP3 format which is a hassle and I believe the quality declines during this conversion process. Any recommendations?
Apple had to screw it up with having their own proprietary format...

It would not be the file format conversion that would be the issue, but the DRM (digital rights management) that is in the AAC (M4A) format. Also that is not a proprietary Apple format. AAC is the audio layer of MPEG-2; Apple used it as it could carry DRM which in turn controls how you can use the music track. AAC is also quite good at high compression, ie low bit rate, but gives way to mp3 as the bit rates get higher.
You are stuck in doing what you are doing, that is burning an audio cd from your aac file then ripping/encoding to mp3 or wma to play on the Creative players.
(Makes you think about the cost of a CD vs downloading a compressed file doesn't it's)

  • Can I use iTunes to convert m4a to mp3 for use on my car stereo

I would like to burn a playlist to a CD for playing on my car stereo.  If I use the default audio option, the CD sounds terrible, so I guess I need to select the mp3 option instead.  When I do that, however, I'm told that my files are in m4a format and need to be in mp3 format instead.  Can I use iTunes to convert m4a files to mp3, and if so, how? I wish to retain the songs in my iTunes so I suspect I need to make copies of the original and convert the copies, but I don't know how to do this either.

Click here and follow the instructions.

Well, this question really belongs in the iTunes forum, which is where you will get fast answers.
Just go to iTunes Preferences.  Click on the General icon.  Set When you insert a CD to Ask to Import CD.  Click on Import Settings.  Set Import to MP3 decoder.  Make sure you're using Good Quality.
This should deal with your CD's.
With your current music, as long as it does not have DRM restrictions (older iTunes Music did), select the song, right click on the song (or group of songs), pull down to Create MP3 version.

  • Hello, what is the best way for me to convert RW2 raw format for use in Photoshop CC

Hello, what is the best way for me to convert RW2 raw format for use in Photoshop CC. I would appreciate any help with this.

Thanks for the quick help. I do have to leave for work. When I try to
download the images from the camera they seem to only be in jpeg (I don't
see any rw2 or raw files to download). If I select the jpeg file it seems
to only download a jpeg file. I do understand that I do have the option to
open the jpeg in RAW. In doing this, is all the extra information included
in the RAW file there or is it lost coming from the camera
Once again thank you for trying to make me understand how this works.
    Have a great day.

  • What database program will convert my Appleworks DB for use on Intel platform?

What database program will convert my Appleworks DB for use on Intel platform?

Yes, you just need the appleworks folder from applications.
However, whether or not this is strictly legal is another question entirely, I'm afraid, unless you are planning to remove appleworks from your computer. You could just buy her her own copy of Appleworks, too.

  • I have itunes songs that I wish were mp3 (for use on a SD Card)

Can they be changed in Itunes, or so I have to start over?
Also, I assume that there is a column available in Itunes to sort protected vs. unprotected.
    Many thanks

One way of sorting could be creating a smart playlist with this rule
    <Playlist> <is not> <Purchased>
Of course that would exclude the iTunes plus songs also
There are probably other ways but thats what I can think of right now
As for changing the songs to mp3 go to iTunes Preferences>Advanced>Importing and set Import using *mp3 encoder* then select all the songs in the new playlist and right click then *convert selection to mp3*.

  • Converting itunes to mp3 for memory stick?..possible???

is it possible to transfer tunes from itunes library to a format that is able to be transfered to a memory stick for playing on a device such as a psp??...thanks

It depends what is in your iTunes library.
-If it is mp3s, no problem.
-If it is another unprotected format, use iTunes to convert it to mp3. To do this, make sure you have your import preference set to mp3. Then, right click the song and choose "Convert Selection to mp3."
-If it is songs purchased from the iTunes music store, they are in protected AAC format and the only approach is to burn them to audio CD and import them back as mp3.
Once you have what you want in mp3 format, Copy from the iTunes library, and Paste into the folder representing the memory stick.

  • Converting aac to mp3 for a cd

    Hello
Is t possible to convert my iTunes library (aac format) to mp3 in order to burn a mp3-cd? I couldn't do it, iTunes tells me that none of the songs are in mp3 format. Do I have to bring all the cd's again to my library in mp3-format? There's 7 gigabits of stuff so it'll take a while if that's the case...

Before I go into detail, with store bought Songs from iTUnes, there in a "AAC protected format" and can not be converted, you have to first burn them to a audio CD, then "Re"import them as MP3
For all other songs you will first goto edit>preferences>Advanced tab>importing sub tab and set it to MP3 and the bit rate you choose (Usually a high bit rate is better when converting songs from AAC or other formats)
With that done you can rightclick each song one by one and hit "Convert to MP3" or you can select/highlight one song, hold the shift key, and select the last song, this will highlight every song inbetween the first and last song (More on iTUnes shortcut keys here http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/windows/shortcuts/ ) When you convert songs like this iTUnes will list 2 of the same song, one is the original, the second one will be the converted file

  • How to convert mp4 videos (HD) for use on the new ipad in imovie without a mac.

    Hi,
Please help. I have many videos taken with my sony cybershot camera (Mpv4 (HD)). I have the new ipad and have downloaded imovie. I have converted the videos so they can be viewed on the ipad but imovie will not recognize them. I have a Pc (not a Mac) and have watched many youtube tutorials on how to convert my videos for use on the new ipad and imovie but so far no success.

If you are on the PC there are a LOT of video converters you can use. One of them is Freemake: http://www.freemake.com/
It's free, no ads or banners, clean interface, simple to use, and you can convert to various formats with ease.

  • Converting an HTML file for use in browsers

    Hi Guys and gals,
I am new to creating java programs to run within a Web environment - thus my reason for asking this question. I hope this is the apropriate forum to point this question to.
I have created an applet which is invoked inside an HTML file. The HTML is fairly simple, although it does pass a number of parameters for use within the applet.
I have run the HTML file within Sun's Appletviewer and it works fine. Now I need to convert the HTML for use in Browsers supporting Java 2.
What is the best resource to use to perform this conversion ? I understand some type of Converter or Plug in is available to perform this task. Can anyone help me out ?

The easiest way is to use SUNs HTML convertre program.
You can find the information about the JAVA plugin and how to create the HTML code at

  • Converting songs from itunes for use in FCE

I am a new mac user who switched from adobe premiere to FCE. I need to use some music from my itunes library in my FCE project. How do I convert itunes audio for use in FCE?

    Hi,
I'm pretty new to FCE, so this might be useless. But I've found a trick (obtained from "Final Cut Express 2 Editing Workshop" by Tom Wolsky) which is to render audio at Item Level. It allows you to render a piece of music to the same sampling level as another item.
It seems to work fine, but some of these guys who've used this more might know of problems when using it.
Import your song from the Music folder (or wherever you have them stored) and just go into the Sequence/Render All or Render Selection menus and check the "Item Level." The next time you render your audio, it should render to the same properties as existing items in your project.
At least, that's how I gather it works. This won't help with copy protected songs as the guys mentioned, but the majority of my songs are not from the iTunes store, so it's useful to me. Hope that helps!

  • How to convert MP4 to MP3 for export

I want to convert an MP4 file in my iTunes library to MP3 for export via email. I know how to convert a CD on import by the preferences settings. And I know I can burn an MP3 CD. I just want to take a simgle MP4 file in my library, and convert it to MP3 in order to share with someone who can't read MP4.

Ah so that's how it works.
    I understand now. Thanks.
