Converting Macbook Keyboard to be Bilingual in Windows

Okay, I'll get straight to the point. I'm running a spanish tutoring program on windows using bootcamp on my white macbook. Problem is, I need my keyboard to be bilingual in order to be able to type spanish characters. I followed some instructions for turning on the bilingual feature for windows. Problem is, it says you have to hold the right "Alt" key along with the letter to convert it to a spanish letter. Yeah, you guessed it, the macbook built in keyboard does not have more than one Alt key and that one does not perform the function. So, can someone please tell me which key would perform the function of a right Alt key (right of the space bar) in windows?

The best way is to have your co-workers download the free QuickTime Player for Windows.
Better yet, have your boss watch it on QTfW and send an email out telling everybody else to watch it.

  • Converting Mac keyboard shortcuts to Windows/PC based shortcuts.

    Hello,
Let me say, I have been using Mac based platforms since close to 1991 on and off. I used System 7 (and OS 8/9, but close enough to System 7) for many years up until I started to use Windows starting on the later 9x and XP platforms. As I start to drift away from Windows to more likely use Macs, however I would like to have a consistent keyboard shortcut system similar to Windows or Linux/UNIX (for that matter).
I actually get confused very easily switching from Macs and Windows with keyboard commands often when I use Windows comp and when I am using the Mac. (Just switching from different kinds of keyboards confuse me from the razor thin keys to a regular keyboard, because going from another one confuses me because of different pressures to press the on.)
I also believe this may have to do with a "workflow" process/scripting, if I am not mistaken. Is there a script I can download, that has close to the standard Windows/PC commands that I can import into the Mac, and can these scripts be edited to adapt my own commands as well? Is there a way to use most of the function keys (F1-12) for the standard commands for the different purposes? I also would like the Option (alt)-Tab to cycle the different apps and Option-Esc to cycle all windows opened. I would like to try to reduce all Option/Command/Control/Shift commands to just a couple of keystrokes or an F key. These modifier keys I think are becoming old, especially since it doesn't meet Apple's simplicity, giving there is up to three keystrokes to press at a given time for some commands.
I had tried the way on the System Preferences, but it doesn't go globally through all applications - real problem lies on the Apple apps on some. I strongly believe this is possible to do, since it might be able to work via a scripting system. I hope this could work. Apple has come a long way to open up the system's architecture without really messing things up, or just opening up the OS without hex apps is great. I hope they can just keep this up so the users can decide how they want their mac to work, because they know what's right for their purposes.
    Thanks in advance,
    Steven

You may like youpi key. It is free. It works fairly well for me in MAC OS 10.4 although not officially supported. There is a commercial version you can buy, called iKey.

Here is my script for listing my application folder. I have it assigned to function-key 6.
    tell application "Finder"
    activate
    select window of desktop
make new Finder window to startup disk
    select Finder window 1
set target of Finder window 1 to folder "Applications" of startup disk
    select Finder window 1
    set position of Finder window 1 to {60, 45}
    end tell
This script was automatically generated in script editor record mode. After I recorded the script and did some minor editing, I copy the script to youpi key.
I have all of my frequently used applications set to function keys. I am thinking of changing the switching to Scripts because there seems to be a side effect to some of the switching like the speaking.

  • Macbook keyboard cutting out at times, 10.5.1 installed.

    Hello.
Here's the problem. I have everything back to normal on my Macbook, OS X Leopard, boot camp, windows, and etc. However, being the upgrade conscious person, i upgraded my Mac to 10.5.1, and for some reason, my built-in keyboard will cut out at times. There will be times when it's on, and when it's off. And I mean its Off by it actually not functioning. Apple SHOULD UPDATE the Macbook firmware. This has already became an annoyance after a half hour of experience.

Discussions is the hospital for people who need help.
People that have something not working properly check here and find others with the same issues and assume they are part of a large majority.
Apple have sold 5 million copies of Leopard already plus Leopard on over 2 Million new computers.
With that large an installed base there are bound to be some problems especially with all the internet downloads available that may have been made for previous operating systems but not made for leopard.
If you do an upgrade and have downloaded something incompatible with Leopard it will still be there after the upgrade and may come back to bite you.
If you have a fairly clean system you may have a minor issue if you have an old font with a problem or a file or files that had sketchy permissions. These can be annoying but no biggy.
If you do an archive and install, you bring in a clean system and need to reinstall programs that modify the system. Bring them and plugins in slowly in case there is a compatibility issue.
An erase and install makes you store your data off the volume and is not much different than and archive and install except you can opt to preserve your network settings.
You can always bring back in you user settings.
The vast majority of installers don't mess too much with their systems and usually don't experience any problems since they have never brought in anything foreign.
People rarely report things that work only when they don't.
    Congrats on all fronts.

    Help

I should just change the OS and leave all your apps and data alone.  That said, if any of your apps are old and use Rosetta (ppc apps), they won't run under Mountain Lion.
Make sure you take a good Time Machine or Clone backup before you convert.
You can check compatibility of your apps here:

  • My MacBook Pro 13" (2012) is running Windows 7 on Bootcamp and there is an issue with the headset I'm using.

My MacBook Pro 13" (2012) is running Windows 7 on Bootcamp and there is an issue with the headset I'm using. I use a cheap Logitech Stereo Headset H130, but since there is only on audio plugin on the computer, I purchased a 3.5 mm 4-pin smartphone audio adapter thingy. That allowed me to put both my the sound coming to my headset & the microphone on my headset onto one wire. Everything worked wonderfully when running the Mac OS since they probably have support for that kind of stuff. The problem is though that once I try to use the same method in Windows 7, the OS doesn't recognize my headset microphone at all, but, instead when recording my voice decides to use the built-in mac microphone. Using this adapter still allows me to hear from my headset, but not use the microphone and that becomes a problem. It might be so that Windows 7 doesn't have support\drivers for that... How should I continue from here on out? Any advice?

From what I have read from others on here you may be out of luck. You would need the appropriate Windows drivers for the Cirrus chip in the Mac and no one has been able to successfully locate them. Apple wouldn't support this since Windows is an optional install.
Sorry to bring the bad news.

  • I want to install a third operating system on my macbook pro. I already have windows and i want install unix or linux in there. Is it possible??

I want to install a third operating system on my macbook pro. I already have windows and i want install unix or linux in there. Is it possible??

Yes, it's possible, but if your Windows system is on a Boot Camp partition then you have to first remove it. Then create however many partitions you want for the operating systems. You have OS X on one, so you need two more - one for Windows and one for Linux. You then install Windows and Linux separately to their respective partitions. Download rEFIt
Use it as the replacement bootloader so you can properly boot from each OS properly.

  • Can I use my Apple Keyboard in a non-bootcamp Windows 7 OS?

    Hello,
I am building myself a secondary gaming PC to complement my Mac Pro (which I will continue to work on) but would like to 'reuse' my Apple Keyboard that I like so much.
From running Windows 7 in bootcamp on my current Mac Pro I know that the keyboard works really well in Windows 7 but since this new PC is a 'genuine' windows pc without any of Apples hardware or bootcamp software I was wondering if I could still somehow use it?
Also in case you can use it, is it possible to get the keyboard drivers perhaps without all the other stuff the bootcamp installer brings with it?
    Thanks,
    Jannis

    Use a KVM switch.

  • Wireless keyboard no longer working in Windows

I just replaced the batteries in my wirless keyboard.  I am running Windows 7 through Bootcamp.  Since changing the batteries, the keyboard will not work in the Windows partition; however, it is working fine in the OSX partition.  I would appreciate any suggestions as to how to correct this.  I am of an advanced age and am technologically challenged.  Thanks so much!

This may be just a Boot Camp issue, if no one here can help you may also want to post in the Boot Camp forum.

  • How to download macbook pro (mid 2010) drivers for windows 7, without the included DVD (lost) ?

    Hello everyone,
I am facing a problem with bootcamp on my Macbook pro 15" (Mid 2010, running Mos OS 10.6.6).
I have successfully installed windows 7 via Bootcamp, but I lost the Drivers DVD furnished by Apple.
I tried to download these using Bootcamp (v3.0.4), but bootcamp won't let me save it, i get this error :
"the windows support software could not be saved to the selected folder"
An Apple support article has been made for this problem ( http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3648 ), but it doesn't solve the problem in my case because I lost the furnished DVD.
So here I am, struck on this drivers issue...
    So, my question is :
How to download macbook pro (mid 2010) drivers for windows 7, without the included DVD (lost) ?
Thank you for your help !
    Regards

Aw, and I forgot, being in Thailand, they do not sell the installation DVD.
