Converting .mkv to mp4 to work on Xbox 360

Using the passthrough method on Quicktime but the resulting file does not playback on my xbox 360. However using the Windows app XenonMKV, the resulting file works. Anyone know how to get all .mkv files through Quicktime to work? Maybe a Xbox 360 preset or something in the future?

He says that '-me' is not a known option. (And I didn't find anything about it in the man page)
Did you tried without it?
By the way your video stream is already h264, you don't need to recode it again. "-vcodec copy" should be fine.
Try to write options to ffmpeg yourself. I don't know the application of almost every parameter.

  • Convert MKV to MP4 or WMV with PrE

I would like to convert a .MKV video file into a .WMV or .MP4, since the video cannot be read by standard hardware as it is.
I tried to open it with Premiere Elements, but it couldn't be read by PrE, so I cannot export as a different format. Is there any work around to this?

    DeverK
    Thanks for the follow up.
From the looks of it, you can convert to MKV (if you wanted that file extension) or MP4 with the free HandBrake.
I have used HandBrake (Windows) for conversion to H.264.mp4 with constant frame rate, when the counterpart with variable frame rate
would not work in Premiere Elements or when it imported but with audio out of sync.
It appears that with the choice of MP4 as the container format (file extension), the choice of video codec is described
    H.264 (x264)
    MPEG-4 (FF mpeg)
    MPEG-2 (FF mpeg)
whereas, with the choice of MKV as the container format (file extension), the choice of video codec is described
    H.264 (x264)
    MPEG-4 (FF mpeg)
    MPEG-2 (FF mpeg)
    VP3 (theora)
We will be watching for your progress with this when you have the time.

  • E3000: uPnP not working with Xbox 360

    Hello all,
So I just setup my new E3000, upgrading from a WRT54G.  The uPnP worked great on that router and my last three routers before that.  Xbox never required I setup anything -- I can prove this simply by swapping routers and putting one of the old ones in place of the E3000.
However, the E3000 (Firmware Version: 1.0.02) is not working with uPnP.  Xbox connectivity test comes back and says that my NAT type is "Moderate".  Most stuff works fine, but I'd like to get it all working.  I worked with a Linksys tech who was very helpful and got NAT to "Open" by configuring triggered port forwarding.
I am happy to have my issue resolved, but confused why uPnP didn't work?  I mean it was easy for me to configure port forwarding, but for my less technical friends, should I simply not recommend this router because it can't do basic uPnP?
Is there some other configuration change I made that may have upset the uPnP?
    Thanks!
    -Scott
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

In case this helps anyone else:
For the past few months, I have been using static mapping for XBOX live.  I recently updated the firmware on my router to 1.04 and still was having similar problems with uPnP.  So I continued to use static mappings.  One day my IP for the Xbox changed and I got frustrated.
I tried one thing before giving up on this router:
    1) Held down the reset button for 30 seconds
    2) While still holding it down, unplugged the router for 30 seconds
    3) While still holding it down, plugged back in and continued holding for 30 seconds
This does a complete reset of the router.  I then re-ran the Cisco connect software (which was also updated recently).  I reconfigured my router the way I wanted.
Now, Xbox Live uPnP is working!

  • How do i get iTunes purchased songs to work on Xbox 360??

I cant seem to see the songs on my 360. Am i doing something wrong??
    iMac G3 700 mhz

I don't know anything about the X Box but if you burn your purchased tracks to an audio CD and re-import them as MP3s these should work ok. That's the usual method to get Apple purchased AAC tracks to work on generic MP3 players.

  • Ipod Touch won't work with Xbox 360

Recently I was at my cousins house hanging out and we decided to plug in my iTouch to listen to music, but when we did this it started charging but wouldn't show up in the devices section so we couldn't use it. When we tried it with his 80Gb Classic it worked. It's not his 360 I tried it with my 360 and my brothers 360 and it didn't work with either of them.
If anyone else has had this problem and knows how to fix it please help me, or if you just know how to fix it.
    Thanks

I have had the same problem, but have not worried about it. The iPod touch is the only iPod I have noticed that does not work with the Xbox360 and it may never.

  • MKV to MP4 conversion audio out of sync on xbox 360

Trying to convert MKV to MP4 for xbox 360 playback. The passthrough method is a very fast conversion but the resulting file doesn't always playback correctly on xbox 360. The audio is either out of sync or the file doesn't even play at all. Please update this so it works Apple! It's almost 2010! HD is standard!

Matroska (MKV files) does not support the Apple platform.
The xbox is not an Apple product.
I would suggest that you raise your concerns with Microsoft.

  • Using Xbox 360 to play Ipod

When I hook up my Ipod to my xbox 360, only certain songs will play. I think it is because of the format(AAC) which doesn't seem to work on xbox 360. Is there any way to convert songs to MP3 or WMA on Itunes? Also, if you know any other ways to get all the songs to play on the xbox 360, could you please help me out.
    Thanks
    Ipod 4g   Windows XP

you cant. ipod touches do not support 'disk mode' like other ipods, so you wont be able to access your music files (you can access photos, because it is possible to save photos to your ipod using either the screenshot/save from safari options)
there is third party software available which will do this, try google (or whichever search engine you prefer). you could also try using the search box for these forums, other people may have suggested software for other people to use.

  • Time Capsule & XBOX 360

Has anyone been able to get Time Capsule to work with XBOX 360 live?

I made a little movie in iMovie about how I got my Xbox 360 Wireless Adapter to receive a wireless connection from my 500 GB Time Capsule. I am pretty sure that this is also compatible with Airport Extreme.

Hmm.. maybe handbrake? Try Handbrake. I think you will need 0.93 which is the last version for PPC.
i checked that out but it seemed a lil tricky for me.  i ended up getting perian and it seems to work as far as playing the .mkv file on my mac but i still need find something to convert it for my flash drive so i dont have to connect my mac to a tv in order to watch a movie.
i guess i should just buy a connection for my mac so i can plug it into the tv.  do you know what would be a good connection to use?

  • Can Quicktime Pro convert .mkv video formats to mp4 video formats

I purchased Quicktime Pro believing it could convert .mkv video formats to MP4 video formats, however, the resulting output file is just a 60kb file from an original 971,936 kb file.
I registered the key as given to me in the purchase receipt email, I used Export to MRP, I selected the input .mkv file. All seemed to be OK until it ended creating the short 60kb file.
    Suggestions please.

As indicated on the Apple web site, keying the QT Player for "Pro" use merely unlocks editing and conversion features built into the app but not available without the key. It does not add any new file type or codec support beyond that for which the QT Player is already configured on your platform.
I registered the key as given to me in the purchase receipt email, I used Export to MRP, I selected the input .mkv file. All seemed to be OK until it ended creating the short 60kb file.
An MKV file will convert only if you have support for both the MKV file container (which is not natively QT compatible) and codecs to handle the specific codecs contained in the MKV file container if available for QT use.
    Suggestions please.
I do not normally use MKV files on a daily basis and so, on those occasions when I do need to use them as a source for conversions to mobile devices, I use the free HandBrake application. As I see it, you can either try to add the missing support needed to use QT 7 Pro or you could download HandBrake for iTunes managed/mobile device files or use FFmpeg (on which HandBrake is based) for more general target conversions. As a non-PC user, I am assuming here that the Windows versions of both the HandBrake and FFmpeg apps have the same features as are available in the Mac versions of these apps.

I have just asked a question about downloading MacKeeper elsewhere - why do you say not to download it? Does it not work or is it malicious?
Do you have any others suggestions for cleaning up my laptop and desktop? Both running OS 10.6.8 and both seem a bit slow to me, especially when I have multiple applications open.
    Thanks
