Converting mp4 files to mp3

I'm trying to send a song which has been downloaded from i-tunes to my phone via bluetooth, but my phone doesn't have an mp4 player on it, and ive tried converting it but even when I thought I did, i still cant play it on my phone, therefore does anyone know if it is possible to convert mp4 into mp3 files or any other advise gratefully welcomed.
Thanks ben

If you've downloaded it from the iTunes Store, then you won't be able to play the file on your phone because iTunes Store purchased tracks are protected against copying/conversion to MP3.
If the file is ripped from your own CD you can convert it using the guide here:
http://askbobrankin.com/convertitunes_to_mp3format.html
Otherwise, you will have to burn an audio CD of the track(s), then re-rip them in MP3 format for your phone.

could someone tell me how to convert mp4 files into mp3 files? thanks

    Now this is clear.
You didn't have an .mp4 file or even a .m4a file. Yours is .m4p.
    The "p" stands for protected.
The rules say you can burn your .m4p files to CD. The CD file will be in .aiff format.
Drag the .aiff file into iTunes and then "convert" (using the options in your preferences for bit rate and extension).

    Hi
    How do I convert mp4s to mp3s?
    Thanks, Pat

Go to iTunes>Preferences>General and choose the Import Settings button. Pick the format you want to convert your files to (MP3 for example). in your iTunes library or playlist highlight the song or songs you want to convert and go to the Advanced menu on the top bar of iTunes and choose, again for example "Create MP3 version": How to convert a song to a different file format format

My suggestion to use the smart playlist was more along the lines of making one list with rules to show everything in your library as long as it was kind "mpeg" (= mp3).
Smart playlists cannot be edited manually, only by changing the rules.  You can use them as the basis for another smart playlist though.
There is added overhead to using smart playlists, so don't go overboard.

  • Convert .FLA files to .MP3?

Is there an application (freeware/shareware) that will convert flash .FVA files to .MP3? I've tried ffmpegx but it doesn't reconginize the .fva file and using the encoder in VLC player just produces a file full of static. My search has turned up fruitless so far so any help will be appreciated.

After further research I found a freeware app called Max that will convert .FLAC files to .MP3. I had to add a "C" to the extension of the orginal file but it worked perfectly.

  • Convert itunes files to mp3

Help please, how do i convert itunes files to mp3 format. i purchased a hp notebook and it has itunes and windows xp home. i have always used windows media player and am new to itunes. do i have to go back to media player or can itunes do the conversion?

The only conversion I've done is wma to mp3. To do this just simply import them they way you would any other song file. It will tell you that there are song files your trying to import that iTunes isn't compatable with and ask if you want to convert them to mp3 format. Just click yes and iTunes will make an mp3 of the respective songs. The wma's will still be there so if you want to get rid of them you'll have to delete them manually. The only downside is the conversion makes the file larger so it'll take up more space on your hard drive, but you'll be able to listen to it on your iPod.
As for iTunes purchased music StarDeb is right. Go out and buy the album then rip it onto your hard drive. At least then if your drive crashes you'll always have a backup.

  • Urgent How to convert wav files into mp3?

Can anyone plz tell me how can i convert wav file into mp3 using JMF? tell me any sample programme, any method in JMF........ help me plz

Examples could be found on the JMF Solutions page.
Only I can say about mp3 through network - it's hardly possible. I recommend GSM for compression2transmit. It could be used via GSM content descriptor. I'm not sure, but I suppose MP3 is supported only for files, there's no MP3.RTP or such (if you want to transmit files, it should not cause any problems).
About JavaSound - it does not matter... You still need JMF to be installed on Client, and AppletCapture to be enabled. Futrher - would it be DirectSound, JavaSound, or anything else - just the deal of JMF.
I tried to use JavaSound capture with proceeding AudioInputStream to JMF, but failed to do this.
About your problem - best solution seems like that:
    capture sound
    put it into processor
    set format to GSM
    transmit
so then, server receives it and formats it as it likes.
If you want to transmit exactly files, you should use just some of pure java after capturing. java.net, or such thing.

  • How to convert AMR files into MP3 or WAV?

    Hello,
I'm not sure if that's the right place to ask, but I couldn't find any more suitable one, so...
Can anyone recommend a nice convenient application to convert my phone's recordings from AMR format to MP3 or WAV - eg. something I can conveniently listen to on my PC?
    Thanks in advance!

Many of my friends recommend iDealshare VideoGo to convert AMR files to MP3 or WAV.
Today i just have a try, and find it really works great in converting AMR to MP3, WAV, WMA, AAC, AIFF etc with high audio quality.
what i like prefer is its drag and drop fuction and batch conversion fuction.
Here is the step by step guide at How to Convert AMR to MP3, WAV?
Hope it also helps for you.

  • How to convert .mov files to MP3?

I am recording an entire book for someone who can't read. I'm using Quicktime Pro to do the recording. I want to burn a CD for her that she'll be able to play on any old CD player. How do I converrt the .mov files to MP3 or other usable format?

Itunes preferences > Advanced Tab > Importing Tab > Import Using Drop Down Menu
However as Kirk said it's pointless converting your files to mp3 if there going on to CD. This means you will compress the files, lose quality and they will then have to be reconverted to be burnt to CD. You would be better off exporting straight out of QT Pro as AIFF, this way you will not lose quality. You can then burn from iTunes toast etc no probs at all using this format.
    Cheers

  • Converting m4a files to mp3

How do i convert m4a files to mp3 format? Call me old fashion but i still like to burn a mp3 disc. thanks

Are you using iMovie? Can you explain what/how you are getting to the point that you want to burn the video. My suggestions would depend on your workflow and I burn movies to DVD quite often.

  • Convert REM Files to MP3 Format?

I have downloaded several songs via the Amazon MP3 application on my Blackberry Curve 9300.  Little did I know that the songs were downloaded as rem files and not mp3 format?  I cannot upload the files to my desktop or laptop computers nor my Kindle.
Amazon said since I downloaded most of the songs over 3 months ago, they cannot move them over to my Cloud Player.  How do I convert rem file to mp3 format?  I do not want to have to purchase these songs again.

That process above won't work. Waste of time.
Your files were downloaded as MP3 files, but you have content encryption placed on your Media Card, and then the REM extension is added to the filename, because you have protected those files.
You must turn off the encryption first, and then you can copy the files and they will be usable.

  • Convert .aac files to .mp3 in itunes 11.0

How do I convert files from .aac to .mp3?  I've changed my 'import as' settings to .mp3, and when I select a file, and click File->Create New File, all I can select is .aac format.
    Thanks.

    Janice.
You can convert AAC files to MP3 by using the Advanced > Convert menu. However, you must first go to the Preferences > Advanced menu and change "Import Using AAC Encoder" to "Import using MP3 Encoder". This setting is used for both importing and converting. When you are finished converting, change the Preferences setting back to the encoder you prefer for importing.
You can burn an MP3 CD if your CD player can play that format. You can fit a lot more songs on an MP3 CD than an Audio CD, but not all CD players can play an MP3 CD. Just go to iTunes > Preferences > Advanced >Burning and select the type CD you want. Note that songs must first be converted to MP3 format to burn to an MP3 CD. If your songs are in AAC format, iTunes converts them on the fly to AIFF when burning an Audio CD, but cannot burn them to an MP3 CD unless you convert them to MP3 files first.
    Hope this helps.

  • Convert AAC files to MP3 in iTunes?

On my Mac, I can download from the internet in either MP3
or AAC. I can also change MP3 files to AAC. But, can I
change AAC files to MP3? I'm sure Apple had me do this one
time to override some iTunes error, but I can't seem to do
it now. I used this MP3 format for a long time so a lot of
my downloaded songs are in this format. Now I'd like to
change them back to AAC because it says I can't make a CD
from MP3 files. Can I change the format or is there some
way I can make a CD with MP3 files? I think I did it before
on my old computer....I MUST have done it before because so
many songs are in MP3 but it says I can't do it on the new
    mac.
