Converting Mp4 format to iPod(m4v)

I initially posted this in the wrong Forum, Here's my issue...
I purchased the QuicktimePro Registration key for Windows(XP), to convert movies(mp4) format to Ipod(30gb).
QuicktimePro DOES NOT convert mpeg-4 to Ipod format, m4v or mov?
I followed the xact instruction in the manual, followed one of the QT-Tech Support, he even gave me a supporting/reading materials related to my inquiry, I have 2 co-workers behind my shoulders who tried to help but no luck.
My OS is XP, Quicktime plays all my movies(mp4)format without a problem, but when it comes to exporting, (Movie to iPod 320X240)the exported movie is successful but still in mp4 format, instead of m4v I believe.
I spent for something that I did not enjoy. A very useless feature.

How nice of you, thanks Kyn...
Yes, you are right, Videora works and it's FREE, actually there's a lot in the market but my point is, A lot of us bought this QT 7 Pro, and ended with a lot of questions?
I feel sorry for the beginners who really love iPod and found frustration when it comes to conversion.
Quicktime 7 Pro is perfect to convert Movie to iPod only if you have:
PC with Mac OS, iMovie HD (iMovie HD is only for MAC)
So forget Quicktime 7 Pro if you have Windows no matter what version.
my 2cents...
Actually I found the most perfect ways how to watch the best movie to my iPod 5thgen, right after I found out that this QT 7 Pro doesn't work. I tell you watching movie in iPod is so wonderful, a crisp movie in the palm of your hand.
I Posted my issue in the Forum, right after I spoke with Their QTime without any good answer to my question. The Guy directed me to this Discussion, thinking that I can get the solution, apparently not.
So by posting this issue is also to CHALLENGE any of the Quicktime Support. Just hoping that anyone from Quicktime will come forward with their best effort to help our fellow iPod users.

  • Convert mp4 format to mp3,wmv,etc in nokia mobile

Hey, i'm using a nokia 7230 mobile handset, which doesn't support mp4 vedios which i download from the internet. I hate connecting my phone to the computer just to convert the vedios and back.. So is there an app i can download to convert mp4 vedios in the handset, so i can stream it....

Yes, go to Preferences in iTunes, set the Import setting under the General tab to use MP3. Then select the tracks you want to convert, now you should see a choice in the File menu called 'Create New Version' with a sub-choice of MP3.

  • Converting AVI files to iPod M4V files?

I just purchased QTPro to convert AVI files to viewable files on my iPod nano. Is there a size limitation when converting these files. I was able to convert a smaller file and then import it to iTunes then to the iPod, but the larger file I really want to move to the iPod will not finish converting to the M4V. I gives me an error message.
I using Tiger G4 with 640MB of RAM
    Thanks

Any thoughts on how to fix this? I was hoping to automate this process, but the files produced aren't useable...
If the audio is MP3, AC3, or similar compression format, then try using MPEG Streamclip instead. MPEG Streamclip also allows batch processing if the files will export with audio from it. As to QTP, hang on to it. MPEG Streamclips is better at handling MPEG-1 audio layers, AC3, and many sequential actions, but QTP is still best for layering multiple audio and video tracks. The two applications generally complement each other well.

  • Converting .DAT format to IPOD

    Hi,
I've been trying to convert some movies recorded in .DAT format for personal viewing in my Ipod. Pix transfer OK but No sound. Trid using both QT Pro and Handbrake but same problem remain.
Can anyone provde me a pointer?
    Thanks

Your .DAT files are really MPEG 1 format and QuickTime Pro can't export the audio from muxed formats.
MPEG Streamclip (free) can convert the file to QT formats and even has an "export to iPod" preset.

  • IPod Classic 160GB film library sync problem -  trying to sync films that have converted from purchased DVD to mp4 format locally, not purchases from the online store - all other libraries sync perfect - why?

Hello Apple and the iTunes Windows PC users community.
I am trying to sync films that I have converted from purchased DVD to mp4 format locally, not purchases from the online store. The mp4s all appear and play successfully in my iTunes application but will not sync across to the iPod film library folder.
For your information: I am using iTunes 11.1.3.8 on a Windows 7 64bit machine with 500GB hard disk and 8GB of Ram in the UK.
I have restored the iPod classic 160GB three times now to see if it was a hardware problem with no joy. Each time all the music restores properly as do the podcasts and all the items in TV programmes all appear to sync and work fine.
I have also tried to copy films into the TV Programmes to get around it with no joy. They always go to the films section to start with. It is just the Films library that does not sync - all others work perfectly. As a last resort I have uninstalled and re-installed iTunes with no joy either.
I am technically savvy and have gone through the itunes and ipod settings but nothing appears to make a difference - This is the first time I have had to post here as I can usually solve the majority of the ipod anomilies but this one has me flummoxed.
Has the film encoding type changed in the newest itunes update? - Has this happened to anybody else and is it a hardware, software, or operating system problem.

Having uninstalled the current version 11.1.3.8 and loaded and older version of iTunes 10.7.0.21 I can now categorically confirm that the newest update seems to be causing the problem as the films and TV Programmes are syncing perfectly on this older version.
If you are going to do this please dont forget to remove the  ' iTunes Library.itl' file as this stops the older versions from running as I've just found out

  • How do you convert a .mp4 file to iPod Touch 4G format in iTunes 11? I know you could do it in iTunes 10...

it I have a video that I made in .mp4 format and in my iTunes 11 library. In iTunes 10, you could convert it so it was compatible with mobile devices (in my case and iPod touch 4G). Is this still possible in iTunes 11, and if so, how do I do it? I tried just moving the unconverted video to my iPod, but that doesn't work.

In iTunes go to File>Create New Version>Create iPhone or iPod Version.

  • My MP4 format videos will not enter Ipod anymore.

I download a few videos from a site, converted them into MP4 format as required for The Ipod 5th Generation to be played.Videos I've done before worked, but this time the videos is not converting into my ipod.Help please...

    two ways you can try.
1.Shorten your mp4 file name, make it simple and short if it has a long name.
    2. please bear in mind the general limits which the iPod carries~
H.264 video: up to 768 Kbps, 320x240, 30 frames per sec., Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3 with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats.
MPEG-4 video: up to 2.5 mbps, 480x480, 30 frames per sec., Simple Profile with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats
so you will need to convert your mp4 file again if it doesn't meet above limitation.you will need to have a 3rd party converter tool to help you, see this detailed comparison chart and reviews of the top 5 selling ipod video converters, i suggest you to use dvdXsoft dvd to ipod converter which can convert mp4 files.

  • I need help with Compressor 4 settings to convert .mp4 files to .m4v for iBooks Author

I'm a curriculum design guy with no video background. I have Compressor 4, but don't really know much about how to best use it.  I'd appreciate some help with getting the right setting for my project. Screen shots of settings would be much appreciated, since I don't know much video terminology.
I'm making an free iBook for students on WWII propaganda using old videos from the Internet archive.
I'd plan to use Compressor to:
    1. Convert the .mp4 files to a .m4v that iBooks Author will accept. (I know I can use QT for that, but it increases file size)
    2. Use Compressor to reduce file size so my iBook doesn't get too big
    3. Get videos that look & sound the best, given the poor quality of the original source videos.
Here's some sample videos that I'll use:

    http://archive.org/download/AvengeDe1942/AvengeDe1942_edit.mp4
PS - I will also be editing some of the original videos in iMovie - if I use different settings to prep those videos for iBook Author, let me know.
Much thanks in advance for any help

  • Cannot convert avi to mp4 to my Ipod Touch

Im running on Windows XP. And I use PSP Video 9 to convert my avfi files to mp4. Now I get them converted and then I import them to itunes. I sync it to ipod but it tells me Ipod could not put it on ipod or something like that. I've tried it with 3 different movies and it all does the same. This never happened before I bought the 2.0 upgrade. Can anyone help?

Try right clicking the item and select the "convert selection for ipod". Something like that. iTunes will convert the video to a format for iPods. This happened to me and I used the iTunes video encoding system to encode the videos to mp4. Try it and please report back results.

  • When I convert a .mov to iPod video format, the sound disappears

For some reason, I have a .mov file that loses its sound when I convert it to m4v. This doesn't happen on all .mov files, only a few. Any suggestions on things to check for/solutions?

What software are you using to convert the videos to iPod format?
If you are using Quicktime Pro, or iTunes 6.0.2 to do the conversion... then that is probably where your problem lies.
Neither QT Pro or iTunes has the ability to successfully encode a muxed video file. You'll end up with video and no sound.
You'll need to use some other software to do the conversion. There's a handful of software available. Just search the forums and you'll find many titles mentioned.
I think iSquint has become quite popular.

  • Convert MP4 To Other Formats?

Anyone know a program to convert mp4 ipod files to other video formats like avi and mpeg?

Well there is something wrong with the player. WMP can play anything thrown at it. If you installed any third party codecs or downloaded codec packs off the internet then its broke. As far as converting the files again, now we are creating another problem. May I recommend you search Microsofts web site to fix your media player or Google for a software and guidance to convert your files yet again.

  • How do I move just a single clip in the project file and then convert that into an Mp4 format?

    Dear Assistance,
I have a project file open.
At the bottom  of the screen there is a horizontal film strip of images.  I have cut the images into certain segments.
I want to select one single segment (about 1 min long) and convert only that selected segment into a mp4 format?
Kindly inform me how the best way to go about doing that is.
    Thank you,
    Ben

In the sequence you will see the time code and a bar in line with it.
At the end of all your edited clips in the sequence you will find that the bar ends, this bar defines the work area.
Drag each end of the work area bar so it covers only the clip you want to export.
The select the exporter and select the preset you want and before you start the export where it says whole sequence change this to work area
Then change the default name and location to whatever you want and start the export, job done

  • Take too much time to convert QT movie to iPod format

    Hi,
I got QuickTime Pro and was able to convert avi format home video to iPod (mpg4). But for a 30 minutes movie, it took more
than 8 hours to convert (From avi to mpg4) and QT consume 90%
CPU all the time. Is there something wrong with my settings?
    Please advice. Thanks a lot.

    Welcome to the discussions, qiup!
No, I doubt that you have anything set wrong. H.264 is VERY computationally intensive and will take awhile on even today's fastest computers. It's almost like MPEG2 was 7 years ago when it required a hardware addition if you really wanted a DVD done in less than a day
As time goes on, the algorithm will get better, there may even be some add in cards that make it faster, but for now, a faster machine yields faster results.
