I have a movie which is in MPEG 1 muxed format and want play this in my DVD player. Therefore I have to put it on DVD in a format that my DVD player can play: DVD or (S)VCD.
The file is to large for CD, so I have to convert it to a DVD format. iDVD will not accept the file.
Converting to DV with QT destroys the sound.
    Which tool should I use.
    Thanks for your help.

  • MPEG1 Muxed file conversion

    Hello!
Can anybody recomend what I should be converting MPEG1 Muxed files (from a Sony DSC-W30 camera) to to use with imovie? I have been making MPEG-4 on Streamclip and it seems to work well. Just wondering if there is something quicker/better/faster I should be using/doing? Thanks in advance for any help!!

OK, I bucked up and purchased MPEG-2 Component. Now I get this message when I try to drag the MP4 file into my iMovie 6:
While I consider the MPEG-2 Playback component a good investment for a number of reasons, they have nothing to do with the playback or import of MP4 content. The MP4 file container is associated with MPEG4/AAC and H.264/AAC files -- neither of which require the MPEG-2 component which is for use with MPEG-2 (MPEG, M2V, VOB, etc.) compressed files.
"The file could not be imported: The file can't be imported; QT couldn't parse it: -2048"... What does this mean?
Error code -2048 (NoMovieFound) is normally associated with a corrupted file or improperly terminated file. For instance, prematurely closing a file while it is being written (i.e., power outage, "brown out", forced closing of the application, etc.) may prevent the writing of a valid end to the file. In addition, some applications (like Windows) write "open-ended" files which QT applications consider invalid. (Files indiscriminately downloaded from the Internet frequently have this problem.) In any case, without a valid termination or known "end of the data" a movie file will not be recognized valid and usually return a -2048 error or some sort of "Not a Movie" message.

  • Missing Audio when Converting from MPEG1 Muxed to Ipod using QT Pro 7

I just got my video iPod over Christmas. After reading up on QT Pro 7, I purchased it over the weekend, and have attempted unsuccessfully the past two nights to convert home videos (taken with my Sony digital camera) to iPod format. My home movies play fine when I open them in Quicktime; however, when I export to the iPod format (and also when I export to mpeg4 format), I only get the video and not the audio.
I've confirmed that my key for QT Pro 7 is successfully loaded, so that's not the issue.
I've also confirmed that the format of the original video taken from my camera is "MPEG1 Muxed". Several internet discussion boards seem to indicate that missing audio is a common problem for people using Sony cameras and Quicktime. If this is the case, I'd prefer to simply refund my money and buy one of the other video to iPod converters available on the web.
So, either help me solve this problem, or help me get a refund. I'm fine either way.

QT does not export the sound when exporting from muxed mpegs (mpeg-1 or mpeg-2). QT Mpeg Limitations
You should be able to export both sound and video with this Windows freeware:

  • MPEG1 Muxed, 320 x 240 At 25 FPS

    Hello there,
    I have a video which is MPEG1 Muxed, 320 x 240 At 25 FPS..
Which software program allows you to adjust the Frames Per Second, and will that help with the jerky video, in anyone's opinion?
    Your time is much appreciated..
    Take Care,
    Eric

I'd like to know which application is best, or easiest, to adjust the Frames Per Second from 25 to 30, or 29.xx..
JES deinterlacer is part of the process.....look at the iMovie FAQ site here for more info:
    http://www.danslagle.com/mac/iMovie/tips_tricks/6017.shtml
    Method B, better quality
Almost no jerky movement. The drawback is that you need time and hard drive space for one full copy of your DV files.
JES Deinterlacer can convert NTSC<->PAL with much better quality than converting with iDVD, iMovie or QuickTime Player Pro.
When iMovie HD or iDVD converts NTSC<->PAL it deinterlaces the video and just duplicates some frames to make up for the difference in frame rate, so the movement gets jerky. QuickTime Player Pro can preserve interlacing but in some versions this might introduce ugly interlacing streak artifacts to the converted video. JES Deinterlacer preserves interlacing and it also intelligently blends more than two video fields from the input file to a frame of the output file, if needed, so the movement is smooth.
FYI the iMovie link to JES is busted, but the link I provided before is working.

  • MPEG1 muxed files

I have music files that are MPEG1 muxed files, but I don't know how to separate the video and audio.
I have Windows XP, so FFmpeg and BBDemux wont work.
I've tried using some softwares such as DGIndex and Videora, but still wont work.
    What should i do?

if your trying to convert videos then the video format only supprted by the ipod is .mov or .mp4 no other format is supported by the ipod. To convert the video successfuully the best results for windows users hasbenn using videora.
    Remember:
this software is not supported by apple so with any support or questions you have go to their support forums for help not here. All the links are below and this is a good solution for windows users.

  • Does imovie 09 support mpeg1 muxed?

Anyone know if imovie 09 naturally supports mpeg1 muxed or do we still have to go through the streamclip conversion BS?

If your camera creates MPEG-1 files you'll need to convert them prior to use in any version of iMovie.
MPEG-1 Layer 3 (the audio portion known as .mp3) does not require conversion.

  • Getting MPEG1 Muxed Into iDVD

I have almost 70 movie clips from way back that are MPEG1 Muxed, 320 x 240, 1399 kbits/sec. and about 70 MB in size. Since iDVD doesn't like these files, I've been tryig to convert them with Cleaner, but with limited success.
Exporting to DV stream works, but make huge files. I can pull this off, about 80 GB, but want to see about other options. I just want these on DVD instead of my HD. Thanks for any help
    -Alex

    Alex,
Remember the old computer saying - GIGO - Garbage In - Garbage Out.
Your MPG-1 content is very low in image quality - even compared to the fairly low quality of MPG-2.
Personally, I wouldn't waste my time trying to convert what you have to very marginal DVDs. I would either: (1) use Roxio's Toast Titanium to create Video CDs from your MPG-1 files (they are MPG-1 based and thus the same quality) or (2) just burn all the MPG-1 files to writable CDs or DVDs from the Finder to create a backup so they can be deleted from your hard drive.

  • Many MPEG1 muxed videos play half way then stop

Lots of .mpg and .avi files stop half way through; .wmv, using Flip4Mac, work okay. The position pointer continues on to the end of the file and audio continues, but video stops. These are usually MPEG1 muxed; my QuickTimeMPEG.component file is 7.4.5 from June 2006. Is that he culprit, and if so, is there a newer one somewhere?

Obviously the MPEGs have broken timecodes which the QT is allergic to.
You can fix them with MPEG Streamclip and convert the fixed file as a new MPEG.

  • MPEG1 Muxed - MISSING AUDIO FILES

I have a few QT clips that are MPEG1 Muxed. When I import into FCP all I get is the video file and not the audio file. Is there a way obtaining the audio files from a Muxed clip?

Rather than demuxing with MPEG Streamclip , this demuxing advice which is tirelessly offered to many who then have no idea what to do with separate video and audio stream files, use MPEG Streamclip to export the MPEG-1 to DV and let it do the work for you in one pass. It can export to all QT formats and DV and you get the video and audio in a ready to use file. Better no?
Keep in mind MPEG-1 which is typically 352X240 at <30 fps will suffer a lot quality-wise when upsampled to 720X480 at 30 fps. There is not much data there to work with.

  • Import MPEG1 Muxed Problem - No audio

I am attempting to import some video clips that have been save to disk in the "MPEG1 - Muxed" format (according to Get Info).
The clips play perfectly in Quicktime - video and audio.
When I import them into iMovie, however - NO SOUND. Video is fine.
Are there any tricks I need to know for importing these clips? Not that it matters, but they are long (about an hour each - 6 of them) and about 1.2 gig each.
    Thanks in advance.

OK - I have downloaded Streamclip. There are many choices for conversion. I am not going to do anything fancy in iMovie - I just need to edit the clips. For example, I do NOT need to alter the audio in any way - I just want the audio to stay synched with the video as I cut various snippets.
So of the many choices in Streamclip - which would be best?

  • No sound on MPEG1 muxed files.

Help. For some reason my old clips that use MPEG1 Muxed (sound) now have NO sound. I have isolated it to this modem type as all other file formats, including windows formats play okay.
Also, MS Word no longer beeps or makes other prompting type sounds.
Also, MovieMagic Screenwriter no longer produces any sound when saving, detecting spelling errors, etc.
Also, Real media player no longer produces sound, mainly used for streaming radio staions, as most only support Realmedia or Windows streaming. Video os okay, just no sound. This also includes no sound when watching or listening to anything from Youtube.
I was running 10.4.8 from the software update and everything was fine. I downloaded Audacity this morning, opened it, did nothing with it and then closed it. Possibly the problems started at that point but I'm not sure. I have since downloaded and re-installed 10.4.8 using the combo 10.4.8 version according to the apple guidlelines, but there is no change.
Everything was working fine, and always has, now I suddenly have all of these problems with sound. Never had this before ever. Also downloaded the latest version of QT pro again, but no difference detected.
iTtunes works okay and so do all of the OSX alert sounds as well as my clock.
Please, can anyone help? The problem is on my iMac G5, 20 in, 2GHz.

    Hey Ham
    try this
Go to the "Get Info" by right clicking on the song and from there go to "options" and see what the volume preset is on

    Hi Mark
Was just looking for the answer to this exact question and I just found something that worked for me so don't know if it might be of use to you or you might have already solved your problem!  Basically when I was in iMovie and I clicked to import movies from the computer into iMovie and I found the clip I wanted to import, there are a few options.  I think it asked which Event I wanted to add it to but most importantly it asked me what file size I wanted...I had originally been clicking Large because it advised me to because it reduces the file size...but just on a chance there I selected 'Full - Original' for size and it imported perfectly into iMovie in it's original vertical form!
    Hope this helps!

  • MPEG1 Muxed video

I have some video clips from a video camera's still function/memory stick...takes about 20 mins video.
the clips are 320x240 with sound. when I pull them into FCP, I see the video, but there's no sound.
Is there something I can do? without sound, the clips are pretty worthless.
    thanks!

FCP doesn't work with audio from muxed sources ... you need to convert these MPEG1 files to a more suitable edit format such as DV
you can download and use the free and very popular MPEG Streamclip application for converting these files http://www.squared5.com/

  • Mpeg1 Muxed

I have a QuickTime mpeg1 which is muxed and can't get it to play properly, the movie runs to the end but is unfinished, when I go to Properties and extract, another window appears with another section of the movie.
Also, if I play to the end, click outside of the player and click on the player again, the beginning of the movie becomes the start of the next section. I have to do this three times to view the whole thing.
Can anyone tell me how to save this file as a complete movie?

Please mark the question as solved so others that search these forums can find the solution.
MPEG Streamclip should be on every Mac that works with video.
