Converting MV4 to MPEG1, MPEG2, or MP4

How do I convert a video from MV4 to either MPEG1,MPEG2 or MP4?

Depending upon how you are using it you may find that simply changing the extension may make it mp4 playable (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M4V).

Everyting was perfect earlier. Used to convert all my videos into iPhone mp4 format using Any Video Converter - then add it to my iPhone 3GS. But last few days, I cant add video files to iTunes. and the iTunes doesnt even specify the reason except for that "files are not supported"
    Everything is fine.
    -They are the right format
    -Quicktime is updated
-I have tried simply dragging them into the 'movie' library
-I have tried going to file<add file to library
Nothing works, has anyone else had this problem and found a way around it?
    Any and all help appreciated.

In addition to Mike's suggestions,  you only have 4GB of RAM and Mavericks does use more RAM than other versions. You may also want to look at the apps that startup on login and the possiblity of upgrading RAM.

  • Who knows of a good video converter from Real Media Player to mp4

I have downloaded an open source video converter (HandBrake) but the images are not that clear.
Could you suggest another software to get to convert better images from *.rm to *.mp4?
Or can I use that same software? Any suggestions of how to improve them?
    Thank you,
    Dr. Rosie

    Hi Nijenhuis,
I checked it in a Website, will give it a try as you suggest. I have an additional question: How good are the images with this conversion?
    Thank you,
    Dr. Rosie

  • MPEG2 or MP4 with chapter marker export for playing back on TV.

Is it possible to export a project from Adobe premiere pro to MPEG2 or MP4 format with chapter markers information for playing back on a TV via usb conection?

It is not.  But the following program can create MP4 files with them.
    http://www.videohelp.com/tools/XMedia-Recode
Whether or not the TV will read them is another matter.

  • How can I convert a MOV file to 4K MP4?

How can I convert a MOV file to 4K MP4 file? I can't find any default setting for MP4 nor I do known how to set one.

Start with the Plus sign in the Setting pane> New Setting. Choose MPEG4 from dropdown. Give it a name and save and it will be saved in your custom presets. Make adjustments to resolution, bit rate, etc in Inspector.

  • How do I convert an iMovie file to an mp4 so I can upload it to YouTube?

I just created my first iMovie in the latest version and I need to upload it to Youtube.  When I try to do that, it gives me the message that it is not in a supported file... I need to convert it to an mp4 or something similar.   I am totally new to the latest version of iMovie and cannot figure out how to convert my file.  Any help would be appreciated.  I watched a tutorial on YouTube and when the guy shared his iMovie to a file on his desktop, it automatically transferred as an mp4 file.  Mine is a TS folder?   Help!

iMovie will not have created a video file with the .ts extension.  To share your iMovie 10 project to Youtube you should not have to do any conversion - just follow the instructions at:
    http://help.apple.com/imovie/mac/10.0/#move0470816c
(If you share to file it will create a .mp4 file which you could then upload to YouTube but the instructions above shares direct to YouTube).

  • How can I convert the metadata tags on my mp4s to xml files so that they can be read in Windows Media Center?

I have a library with almost 3000 movies and TV shows that I have fully tagged. However, I have decided to start using Windows Media Center and it does its metadata tagging through XML files.  I wanted to know if anyone could tell me if there was a way to extract the metadata from those mp4s and convert them to a format that WMC could read?  Thanks!!!!

iTunes can make XML playlists so it might be all you need, I made a simple one file playlist and exported it from iTunes. The result is shown below. In principle I could delete the playlist and the entry from the library, as long as I don't delete the file, then later reimport the XML playlist file. I haven't tested this particular scenario, but I assume that iTunes will read all the properties as listed unless it can read some kind of tag from the file itself in which case the current value of the tag would take precedence.
What I don't know is what media center would make of this file, or what its files look like, however assuming they have a similar structure that can be decoded then it should be possible to read data from the iTunes library and write out a text file that will make sense to media centre.

  • Trying to convert video made in iMovie from Mp4 to M4v so I can burn to DVD downloaded Aimersoft video converter but not having any luck

I have downloaded a wedding video done on my iPad and put it in iMovie on my MAC.  Have spent many hours refining it and now want to burn onto DVDs for other family.
When I did this same thing 4 years ago, I had one-to-one help at apple store and saved the video in M4V format and it was not a problem to share the video.
Now this video is in Mp4 and I need it in M4V - that is what the burning devise tells me.
I downloaded a video converter, but it didn't seem to make the coversion.
    IDEAS?

Have you tried this -> https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/free-mp4-converter/id693443591?mt=12?
It's free at the Mac App Store...

  • Does the new IPOD G5 support  Mpeg1, Mpeg2 ?

Most of my video is mpeg 2, I wonder is it support?
or I have to convert it?

no, and you wouldn't want it to. first the industry is moving toward h.264 and secondly thats where a lot of other players go wrong. small harddrives and mpeg2 do not make a happy equation.

  • Converting .swf file to .flv or mp4 for free?

    Hi,
Does anyone know of a program that will allow me
to convert a .swf file to .flv or .mp4 for free?
I can only find paid software to do this.
    Thanks,

    Hi David,

Could depend on where you got your .swf, too. The easiest way to obtain a useful copy of the video portion of a SWF file is to ask the creator to export it for you as a movie instead of native .swf which can contain tons of information that isn't really a movie.

  • Convert .mv4 file into something useable?

    Hey,
I want to know if I can convert a .mv4 format file into something I can edit on FCP? It keeps telling me to use itunes to view the file but I want to edit it. So can it be done? And how can I do it without losing quality?
    Thanks

hey, i do video editing and i work with vob files i took the advice and got the mpeg streamclip download as mentioned, works great. But when i import files into final cut for editing the clip is not accompanied by any sound. in the clips window there is know little speaker icon that normally lets you know there is audio for that clip. The clip was converted properly it plays fine outside of final cut, but only the video plays once i import it, why is there no speaker icon after import what can i do.

  • Converting Sony's modd formats to mp4

    Hi,
I have a bunch of videos in modd format from my pc that I once imported from my hd camera. I have now transfered them to my mac and am now wondering what converters would be able to convert them to mp4 (or any other format supported by fcpx) in the best quality possible.
    Thanks

Then you might want to try the Handbrake app. If you still have the video on the origninal media from the camera then I'd probably first recommend importing using iMovie. If you don't you can see if Handbrake will convert it.
