Converting my Lossless Format music to lower setting for burning/Ipod use

I have all my music saved to a HD in the lossless format and it unfortunately takes up a lot of memory when I want to burn to my IPOD and I don't get as many songs on the IPOD as I should. Is ITUNES set up to allow for a conversion to a lower setting when burning music to back to CD or IPOD so that I can get more songs on the device?

You can convert your lossless songs to a compressed format in iTunes. It can't be done "on the fly" while updating an iPod. Unfortunately the option to "Convert higher bit rate songs to 128 kbps AAC" is only available on the Shuffle. For the larger iPods the files have to be converted in iTunes first or indeed have to been imported in a compressed format prior to transfer.:

When you mean by lastest you mean iTunes 10.6.3 and/or 10.7 you should be able to I'm not really sure. I'm not sure for iTunes 11

Just Updated iTunes - No Longer Able to Convert Apple Lossless Format

I just installed the newest version of iTunes, version 9.1.0.79. I have a bunch of songs in the lossless .m4a format and I would like to convert them (or at least create versions of them) that are in mp3 format. The simple right click menu in the new version of iTunes no longer includes the option to convert anything! My iPod does not have the capacity to hold too many of these songs, how can I convert them to mp3 to actually use them? Is this feature permanently removed? I would rather not have to download and install an older version of iTunes just for this purpose.

The option is still under the Advanced menu. It is simply removed from the right click contextual menu.
iTunes 9.1 has the option to automatically convert to 128 kbps for all iPods now (instead of only the iPod shuffle).
Select the Summary tab.
No need to convert before loading the iPod.

Getting Error in setting configuration of iPod using OS X Server Profile Manager

We are getting error when we are trying to configure the iPods using Profile Manager. Please let me know what is causing for this kind of error. Please see in attachment.

We have device groups, once the device have been enrolled we then move to a pre-configured profile which sets up items such as wifi, e-mail and passcpde etc all in one go, this has had mixed results, I've now setup profile groups for each item to give us more control over only given the user what they need instead on forcing everything, this resolved my item above but more testing is needed, the main issue has been trying to pass a pre-owned device to a new user as it seems to remember the pervious user in some cases, this is why I asked about if it was possible to delete device history.

I have an iPod G2 with a firewire 400 lead. how can I attach it to my new 13 inch Mac book Pro, is there a 400 to 800 firewire converter. USB lead wont work with the Macbook Pro. iPod used as an external drive to archive memory cards on the go.

My G2 iPod that I use as an external drive to archive memory cards on the go cannot link with my new 13" Macbook Pro cause it uses a firewire 400 lead. It will not work with a USB lead. Is there a firewire 800 ipod lead or converter available? Can any one shed some light on this please?

As far as I know, if a harddrive works with a Macpro, it should work with the Macbook: if your Macbook is low on power, plug in the AC adapter
If your Macbook has a firewire port, then it should be fine. BUt i would do somemore research first.

Quality Setting for TIFF/JPG using SaveAs

Hi,
I'm trying to export a jpg or tiff as a "preview" image for a single pdf page. However, they look terrible - I am accessing the javascript object through C# and calling "SaveAs", but I can't find any parameters or methods to set the quality of the image. Can anyone help?

what i ended up doing was using c# to open a pdf select the first page and copying it to clipboard then pulling the image back out of the clipboard, resizing and saving...

Best Handbrake setting for BOTH iPod & iPad?

I used the Apple TV setting in Handbrake and vids will not sync to the iPod (they will sync to the ipad).
I then used the "Convert to iPod" setting in iTunes to get vids to my iPod.
So, I'm converting twice (and Handbrake already takes like 10hrs to do 1 DVD)
What setting in Handbrake will give me good video I can use on both iPad & iPod without sacrificing too much quality?

"Universal" sounds good. But, will I then have to convert it in iTunes or just drop it in iTunes and then sync it directly to my devices?
I hate having to do a 2nd "convert" using iTunes after seeing "Some of the items did not sync....".

Convert .mpeg files from JVC Everio HD Camcorder for iDVD/iMovie use?

Hello,
I am a brand new Mac user, but an experienced PC user. I have a JVC Everio 30gb HD camcorder that records video as .mod files, which can then be changed to .mpeg format to view. I want to edit these files and make home DVDs with iMovie and iDVD, but they say that the .mpeg format is not recognized. What do I need to do to use these .mpeg video files with these software programs?

well... the iApps iMovie and iDVD are meant to work
with firewire connected miniDV camcorders...
you lose the convenience of the iApps... anyhow:

(free) is the weapon of choice, in case, your
HDcorder stores as mpeg1...
for mpeg2 conversion, you need additionally the Apple
mpeg2 plugin (20$) ...

Well, I think they are in mpeg2 format, but not positive. Anyway, I did away with miniDV camcorders because they transfer much slower to the computer than the HD camcorder...but now I get this issue! lol I guess that's what I get for switching to a Mac!
Is there any other way besides the $20 plugin to convert the file? Will the plugin lose any quality in the conversion process?

Best setting for render and use in pc

i have final studio,i dont know why but compressor(software) is not working, i shoot by sony EX-1(xd,tapeless) and edit in fCP. i tested some setting in output to render my sequence and use it in pc. i check avi_dv. dv stream, but i dont like quality in rendered file. uncompress file is ok but as you know size is problem and other software need render or preview to play it back. im looking for a great output setting to render a file and use it in pc or retouch it in premier.

What is the best export setting for burning a dvd?

I am trying to export my senior thesis to a DVD, I've never burnt a DVD before and am using Adobe Premiere cs6.
I used a Canon7D 24fps to film and want the best quality of video and audio possible.
ALSO, after I've exported it, are there any other steps I need to take before burning it to a DVD?
Please help!

The best quality will be using an x264 encoder in CQ mode to create a Blu-ray.
Next best is exporting using an H.264 Blu-ray preset for creating a Blu-ray.
After that, exporting a lossless file for MPEG 2 conversion using the free HC Encoder using CQ mode, which will end up on a DVD.
Last in the quality lineup, export using an MPEG2-DVD preset, changing the Min, Target and Max bitrates to 5, 7 and 9 respectively.
Avoid Dynamic Link.

Since updating my iPod to iOS 5.0.1 my docking station will not charge my iPod or play my music. I can charge my iPod using a USB plug or my laptop. Can anyone help please?

Having updated my iPod 3rd Generation to iOS 5.0.1 my Philips docking speaker is unable to charge or play my music. It recognizes it for a second then unrecognizes it, then recognizes it, then unrecognizes it. It is like it is having a hissy fit everytime I plug my iPod into it. My iPod beeps when I initially connect it to the speaker but then it disconnects itself after about 2 seconds. This has only started happening since updating to iOS 5.0.1 last night. Please help!!!!!

Have you tried the standard fixes:
- Reset. Nothng will be lost.
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restoring from backup
- Restoring to factory defaults/new iPod
Have you also contaced Philips?

Purchased music to new computer for new ipod nano

I purchased music for my old shuffle ipod and now have a laptop and new nano and wish to get my already purchased music onto my laptop and put on to my nano.. I have tried everything! Please help.. Bill
