Converting my photoshop files to a non-adobe program readable format

I have got a number of photoshop files which i cannot use because i dont have Photoshop. So i downloaded the trail version of Photoshop (MacOSX) to convert them to something that i can use with other programs.
My question is now ... What file format can i export them to?
I need a format that keeps all the information about the layers and all the other stuff - So i guess this is called workable file. What format does exist in Photoshop so that i can export it for later use with any other (means NON-Adobe) programm?
Thanks for your help.

Hello, there are alternatives: the best one, would be to stay in an Adobe workflow: photoshop elements: http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-elements.html
If you just need to convert the files to flat ones, graphicconverter would help you: http://www.lemkesoft.com
Yes, your assumptions are correct. I would recommend to work on a copy of the files to maintain their integrity, and avoid losing features.
Basically that is the point .. I want to keep it editable in any way. I can not afford to spend hundreds of Euros or Dollars for such a Program. But i would need the possibility to change the text layers in the PSD files i have as well as changing some minor other things.
As it seems there is no alternative to the Photoshop. :-( As mentioned also the adobe chat support told me that the Photoshop Elements will not be able to open PSD files. So if this is true, ... then there is no way around the Photoshop. That means for me that i can not edit them ever again! :-(

How to import WMV file for use in adobe programs, especially After Effects and/or Premier?

I have the latest adobe creative cloud and i'm using Mac 10.8.2
My client gave me a wmv file that she wants some people blurred out in the background but when I go to import the media, it's greyed out. I'm assuming that After Effects will be the best solution for this, but maybe there is another way.
I can purchase a video converter and convert it to .mov but that costs extra money that I don't want to spend just to do this one project.

  • How does one convert a photoshop file into inDesign and maintain edibility??

I have an entire print file done by another person in Photoshop but would like to convert it into inDesign for fluidity. 1st of all, is that the best scenario? 2nd, is that a possibility? I've begun working with the files in inDesign by creating Photoshop PDF files for it to be linked to; however, that keeps all of the editing within Photoshop. And I would like to have the entire document in inDesign only. This is my dilemma, can anyone offer advice?
    Thank you!
    K.D.

You can't convert Photoshop to editiable InDesign (though there is a plugin from RecoSoft that claims to make editable ID files from PDF: http://www.recosoft.com/products/pdf2id/).
About the best you can hope for is to leave pixel information in the Photoshop file (where it really belongs) and place that into an ID document, then set any type in ID.

  • Converting a Photoshop file to illustrator

Sounds like you don't have any paths in your file.
Place the photoshop file in Illustrator and trace the artwork.

  • Acrobat X Pro error "font not found" for all non-Adobe programs

I'm running Win 7 64-bit, Extensis Suitcase 3 (current version).
Having difficulty printing to PDF from all non-Adobe applications- everything from MS Word to Notepad. I can PDF fine from InDesign and Illustrator, whether using the File/Adobe PDF Presets or print-to-PDF. The problem occurs for me on all PS fonts that I have tested, whether very old or new. The fonts and files can be printed to Postscript printers with no problems- no missing fonts or substitutions. The problem only happens when trying to PDF in Acrobat.
I have two associates with printing issues, too. They are on XP and still use ATM 4.1. They've had similar PDFing problems since they were moved up to Acrobat Pro X.
    Thanks for any assistance.

Does Distiller know all of the font locations?

  • "Adobe Premiere Pro 6 Quit Unexpectedly" - after deleting Cache files.  All other Adobe programs working.

I went in and deleted Cached files after repeatedly getting the 'scratch disks are full' message.  I have done this before and have had no issues.  However, this time it comes up with a crash message whenever I open Premiere Pro 6.  All other Adobe programs are working fine.
Does anyone know what could be wrong?  Have I accidentally deleted something crucial?  How can I fix this?

If you have a 64bit Windows adding more ram will allow Windows to use that ram, and provide more to CS4

  • Font not showing in Photoshop (works in non-Adobe programs)

    Hi all,
One of the fonts I want to use in Photoshop CS6 is not showing up. I installed the font, it is working in Word / Gimp / Paint.Net etc, though not in Photoshop or Illustrator. In the picture below you see the font preview, the installed font properties, a preview in Word and the absence of the font in Photoshop.
Does anyone have a clue how to fix this?
    Thanks in advance.
    Bram

There must be something in the font's encoding that Adobe doesn't like. If you run the font through an application like Font Validator it shows several errors. I guess Adobe apps are more stringent with fonts than other applications.

  • Anyone know how to convert h264 .mov files to play in adobe flash player 9?

    Software advice?

Flash CS3 Professional comes with an utility to convert videos into .FLV. Before that (Macromedia Studio MX 2004, don't know about other versions because I skipped a few) I remember that there was a QT extension that required QT Pro. A quick Google search gave this utility for Windows only.

  • How can I convert the projects files (*.prel) to a AVI or WMV format? Is that possible?

I'm actually using Adobe Premiere Elements 10.

    rayssasouza
There is no "Publish+Share" in Premiere Elements 10. Publish+Share/ is the Premiere Elements 11 and 12 counterpart of Premiere Elements 10's Share/.
If you have established your Premiere Elements 10 (assumed Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit) Timeline, you can export that to an .avi file and .wmv file and many other formats from the Share area. Remember, .avi and .wmv are just file extensions that wrap the video and audio compression, so, when deciding on export choices, good to keep in mind all the properties that you seek for your export. All that being said...
    General idea....
    For avi file...
    Share
    Computer
    AVI
and then you set for the appropriate Presets.=
    For .wmv file
    Share
    Computer
    Windows Media
and then you set for the appropriate Presets =
I suspect what generated your question was that you are not seeing the AVI and Windows Media choices under Share/Computer/.
If that is so, you need to use the thin scroll bar to the right of the choices and scroll down to AVI and Windows Media to see them
and others toward the bottom of the list there.
Please review and consider. Any questions or need clarification, please do not hesitate to ask.
    Thank you.

  • How do I convert an AI file (CC version) to the DXF-AAMA format?

I am creating clothing and my fashion designers created the pattern in adobe illustrator.  Now the contract manufacturer wants a DXF-AAMA format, which is the  file format developed by the American Apparel Manufacturers Association in an attempt to solve the difficulties of using DXF files when creating clothing/apparel.  How can I do this?  I have already created a prototype and printed the fabric/pattern using the AI file (this was done in NY), but the contract manufacturer I am using seems to want this DXF file in the AAMA format.  Please help!

One would import the AI file in an apparel design software. AI doesn't support any of this natively.

  • Opening filled out forms on non Adobe programs (like Preview) causes info to not appear.  How can I fix this?

I didn't distribute using FormsCentral, I sent my form out manually.  I have now received lots of email responses with my filled out forms.  How can I easily save these as individual PDFs that are readable and printable, and not missing an information?

    Hello,
yes we are using Adobe Reader / Acrobat on Windows XP / 7. We don't use a third party pdf product.
I have repeated the following YouTube video and the PDF file in the email is emty (you can see the form but without the filled in text):
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtU2mnQZlW0
Is it possible that the Adobe Product wants to connect to Adobe server to enable the feature if I save the file? We don't have a direct internet connection - we have to use a http proxy with authentication.
    Best Regards,
    Ralf
