Converting Nexus 2000 FEX from Single Homed to Multihomed
Greetings!
I have a 2248TP FEX and two 5548UP Nexi. Yesterday, one of the 5548s experienced an issue that caused it to go offline. The FEX is single-homed to that 5548, and so everything connected to it went offline as well.
I want to multihome the FEX to both 5548s to avoid future outages to the FEX should one 5548 go offline. However, I am aware that both 5548s must have identical configuration for the FEX. Will multihoming it cause the FEX to stop operating because 5548 #2 will come up with no configuration for the FEX? I do not have the 5548s doing any configuration sharing, they are separately configured.
I am on NXOS version 6.0(2)N2(4).

Hi Henry,
Before you do anything, you need to configure your 5548 switches with VPC. You need to have one or 2 connections between the 5548s and configure them as VPC peer-link. You also need to configure the out of band management port on each switch as your VPC peer keep-alive.
Once all the VPC configs are complete, you can connect your FEXs to both 5ks and create a VPC for each one.

In figure 3. showing a single homed FEX with vPC topology, I'm curious what happens if one of the 5Ks fail. For example if the 5K on the left hand side of the diagram fails do the ports on the attached FEX that the server is attached to drop? If not I would assume that the server has no way of knowing that there is no longer a valid path through those links and will continue to use them?

Depending of type of the failureboth n5k can tace corrective actions and end host will always know that one of the port-channel members is down.
For example if one 5k will crash or will be reloaded - all connected fexes alre will go offline. FEX are not standalone switches and cannot work without "master" switch.
Also links which will go from fex to the end-host will be in vpc mode which means that all vpc redundancy features/advantages will be present.

Single Homed or Dual Homed FEX
With the ability to do enhanced VPCs now on the FEXs is there any benefit to have a mixture of having of single attached FEXs and dual homed FEXs?
Here are some benefits as I see them
Single homed FEX is easier to trouble shoot as the topology is not as complex.
A dual homed FEX will support both dual attached hosts and a single attached host. So this means we only have one topology to deal with (everything dual homed)
Any other pros or cons?
ThanksIf you have any servers with only one uplink, you want dual homed FEXes for redundancy.
Also, it depend on the number of FEXes you are connecting to the same set of switches. For example: the max number of FEXes that can be uplinked to a set of 6k switches is 24 if you are dual homed, but if you are single homed the max is 48 (24 per switch).

Converting from single episodes to seasons
What happened to episodes already purchased when you convert from single downloads to buy a whole season? Dop you get credits for the episodes you purchased before iTunes offeres up the series as a single purchase?
It's not a true conversion problem that you have but more a space problem. Tables columns are created by default with the init. parameter NLS_LENGTH_SEMANTICS character semantics:
If NLS_LENGTH_SEMANTICS = BYTE
then 1 character = 1 byte whatever the db character set
If NLS_LENGTH_SEMANTICS = CHAR
then 1 character = 1 character size for the db character set.
If this parameter is changed it is only taken into account for newly created tables or columns: existing columns are not changed.

The only solution I see is to enlarge your VARCHAR2 columns before running the import...

I am trying to look for Nexus 5K config when the nexus2K FEX is dual-homed into it.
What will be the configuration on both 5K especiall the pinning?
Assuming one N2K 10G port is connected to N5K-1 and another N2K 10G port connected to N5K-2?
N5Ks are also configured as dual-sided vpc with two N7K.

Nexus 5548 SPAN Destination- Dual Homed FEX
I understand that order to setup a SPAN monitor session, only 5K local ports can be destination ports. Our FEX are dual homed, so I know we have to have the monitor session configured on both 5K's. We are wanting to connect an Infinistream sniffer to the destination port. What I am confused about is do we also have to have 2 destination ports, one on each 5K connecting to the Infinsitream or can we just use one?
You cannot set more than one destination to a monitor session. You can have multiple source interfaces, but only one destination. Try this:
destination interface e2/14
You will need to create two more separate monitoring session with the same source interfaces but set the destination to the other two interfaces.

Vlan Filter between Nexus 2000 / 3750-X
Dear all,
I have 2 Cisco Nexus 5000 with each 2 Nexus 2000 in FEX Mode. My Vlan are all in fabric mode.
I would tried to connect a catalyst 3750-X and a nexus 2K together in trunk with filter vlan.
NEXUS 2000 <== Port-Channel ===> Cisco 3750X

It doesn't work in allowed vlan (not connection, nothing all) but without the command allowed vlan, my po and my interfaces are up. I tried wihtout LACP in mode etherchannel only but it was the same result.
Questions :
- Could you tell me if this a mechanism with the fabric mode or if there is something to add or modify ?
- If I have a VLAN 40 from my 3750X but not in the 2K, it is forwarding accross my interface ?

The 2ks are desihned for connecting end devices e.g servers, workstations, etc.. to the network and not connecting other switches to it. You can however connect your 3750X to both 5ks using vPC.
from the config guide:
Any device running spanning tree connected to a Fabric Extender host interface results in that host
interface being placed in an error-disabled state when a BPDU is received.

Nexus 5548 fex interface configuration in vPC scenario

I have a pair of Nexus 5548UP configured as a vPC domain active-standby couple with six Nexus 2248TP Fex's in a dual-homed scenario (each fex is connected to each 5548UP). At the same time, both 5548UP are dual-homed to a pair of VSS Catalyst 6509.
I have a couple of questions regarding performance and configuration:
1. When configuring a fex interface, I've noticed that if the configuration is not the same or replicated on both 5548UP, the fex interface won't come up; is this normal behaviour? For now I am replicating manually the configuration on both 5548UP (not confyg-sync).
2. When performing ICMP tests from the 2248TP to the VSS, the response time is around 1ms to 2ms; from the 5548UP to the VSS pair is approximately 0.5ms. Is that normal delay response time from the 2248TP? I was expecting less response time from the 2248TP (the fex's have 20 Gigs of uplink bandwidth to the 5548UP pair and the 5548UP pair have 40 gig's of bandwidth to the VSS pair).

Yes, that is a normal behavior. Since yours FEXes are connected to BOTH 5ks, you have to configure both 5Ks in order for the FEX to come up. If you connect your FEX physically to only one 5k, then you only configurethat one 5k, but in your case you need to configure both 5ks exactly the same.

I have never tested this, but I would think since the 2k needs to to 5k for every packet including talking to another host on the same 2k, the delay would slightly be higher then when you ping directly from the 5k.

According to your description, my understanding is that when you use word automation service to convert Word to PDF for list item attachment, it throws the null reference error.
I suggest you can create an event receiver and convert the word to memory stream like below:

Thanks in advance.To answer your question, the M81KR-VIC is a Mezz card for UCS blades only. For Cisco rack there is a PCIe version which is called the P81. These are both made for Cisco servers only due to the integration with server management and virtual interface functionality.

My requirement is to convert select-options table into single internal table which has one field.
e.g. select-options: s_matnr for mara-matnr.
select-options table can have options 'BT',"EQ", "NE", "GE", "GT", "LE", "LT", "CP" etc. select-options table
have Sign:I ,Option:BT, Low: 1, High.10.The new internal table records should be 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10.
Please suggest any function module available for this scenario in SAP.
