Converting oracle reports with .rdf  into bi publisher reports

Hi Gurus,
Iam new to BI Publisher, Could some one help me in converting oracle reports with .rdf into bi publisher reports. Any help is greatly appreciated.

hi,
What you are trying to do?
Can you please elaborate , i guess its an rtf template to pdf / excel
Let me put some points
1) Bi Publisher is a pixel perfect reports ll generate
2) Its completely based on XML data ,based on XML data we can create RTF template from where u can get output as PDF/HTML/EXCEL....
Please go through

  • How to reference XMLTYPE Coloumns in Oracle Database with RDF

    Hi there!
    First i want to say you do a great job out there!
    And here is my Question:
    I stored XML Documents inside the Database as XMLTYPE Columns in Tables. Now i want to reference parts of these Documents with RDF. That means, there is a node in the document stored in a table and want to add RDF metadata for this node. What's the best way to do that? Use the Oracle virtual file system, to publish the documents and do the references as a URL? Maybe i want to add RDF Data to specific Tables, is there a way to do that? Which possibilities exists to link with RDF inside a Database?
    Any Ideas are welcome! :)
    Best regards,
    Axel

    Hi Axel,
    Thanks for the compliments!
    RDF data can be linked with data in the database by creating a column in a table that is of type SDO_RDF_TRIPLE_S. This is the triple type, and columns in a table can be defined to be of that type. This column can be added to a table that has other data, or in a new table that is linked to other tables, perhaps using a foreign key. A <subject, predicate, object> triple can be inserted into this triple column (the triple is eventually stored in the internal semantic store, but this is transparent to the user).
    If the node in the XML document has multiple triples associated with it, perhaps a table with an SDO_RDF_TRIPLE_S column and a column to link each row to the table containing the XMLTYPE column can be created. An additional column can help identify a specific node in the XML document. I presume the application can create URLs that might be necessary for the RDF metadata.
    Let me know if this does not answer your question.

  • Reports with HTML links to "sub-reports"

    I have a main sequence that runs several sequences of tests.  I
    would like to have these tests create separate reports and then link
    them from my main sequence's report.  I have selected HTML
    reporting style.  I have figured out how to link by looking at Teststand\Examples\ModifyingReports\HTMLDiagnosticLinks.
    The only thing left is figuring out how to create the "sub-reports"
    instead of including the information in the main report.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,

    Ray,
    I would like to have the sub-reports be the same format as the main report but it is not important if it has a header like the main report has.  I think that it needs to just make a report that will print on 50 pages into something easily readable.  I have already toyed with the idea of a database, but I would still have to create a report of some sort, so if I can modify TestStand's report sequence to do it, that would be even better.
    So basically I am dynamically calling a series of selectable tests.  If each of the called tests had their own report liked in to the main test where it was called, that would be great.
    So, I'm looking for something like this:
    Main Report:
    UUT Report
    Station ID:
    BOBY-L
    Serial Number:
    NONE
    Date:
    Monday, December 12, 2005
    Time:
    4:16:19 PM
    Operator:
    administrator
    Number of Results:
    37
    UUT Result:
    Failed
    Failure Chain:
    Step
    Sequence
    Sequence File
    Numeric Limit Test: Receive 7 bytes
    MainSequence
    Read Test.seq
    SequenceCall
    MainSequence
    testing.seq
    Begin Sequence: MainSequence
    (C:\VSS\Test Driver Code\Tests\Initializing Driver Test\Initializing Driver Test.seq)
    SequenceCall
    Status:
    Passed
    **********************LINK TO TEST****************
    End Sequence: MainSequence
    *****************SUB-REPORT LINKED IN*****************
    Begin Sequence: MainSequence
    (C:\VSS\Test Driver Code\Tests\__TestStand - Common Components\common sequences\Read.seq)
    Read 20 bytes
    Status:
    Passed
    Read the following bytes from Address 0000 of the FLASH:
    46 00 C5 07 00 00 70 00 C3 03 00 00 9A 00 8D 04 00 00 E8 00
    End Sequence: MainSequence

  • How to create a report with data using the Crystal Reports for Java SDK

    Hi,
    How do I create a report with data that can be displayed via the Crystal Report for Java SDK and the Viewers API?
    I am writing my own report designer, and would like to use the Crystal Runtime Engine to display my report in DHTML, PDF, and Excel formats.  I can create my own report through the following code snippet:
    ReportClientDocument boReportClientDocument = new ReportClientDocument();
    boReportClientDocument.newDocument();
    However, I cannot find a way to add data elements to the report without specifying an RPT file.  Is this possible?  I seems like it is since the Eclipse Plug In allows you to specify your database parameters when creating an RPT file.
    is there a way to do this through these packages?
    com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.data
    com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.definition
    Am I forced to create a RPT file for the different table and column structures I have?
    Thank you in advance for any insights.

    Hi Rameez,
    After working through the example code some more, and doing some more research, I remain unable to populate a report with my own data and view the report in a browser.  I realize this is a long post, but there are multiple errors I am receiving, and these are the seemingly essential ones that I am hitting.

                Table oTable = new Table();

    This code succeeds, but it is not clear how to add that database field to a section.  If I attempt to call the following:
    FieldObject oFieldObject = new FieldObject();
                oFieldObject.setDataSourceName(field.getFormulaForm());
                oFieldObject.setFieldValueType(field.getType());
                // Now add it to the section
                oFieldObject.setLeft(3120);
                oFieldObject.setTop(120);
                oFieldObject.setWidth(1911);
                oFieldObject.setHeight(226);
                rcd.getReportDefController().getReportObjectController().add(oFieldObject, rcd.getReportDefController().getReportDefinition().getDetailArea().getSections().getSection(0), -1);
    Then I get an error (which is not unexpected)
    com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.lib.ReportDefControllerException: The field was not found.---- Error code:-2147213283 Error code name:invalidFieldObject
    How do I add one of the table.SetDataFields()  to my report to be displayed?
    Are there any other pointers or suggestions you may have?

  • How to Print a report with 50 columns. Crystal Reports

    Dear Experts,
    I'm Using Crystal Reports 2008. I have a requirement that 50 columns should be placed in a  Single Report with single line . But Page size should be A4 ( While Printing).
    With Page Size A4 I'm able to place 5 columns.
    Is there any possibility to acheave this no matter if number of opages increases
    I Appreciate for the help in this regard.
    But I need to display all the 50 fields (columns) in a single report.
    I Achieved this by changing horizontal width to 70.
    I can Place all the fields in one line.
    But my concern is to print this report in A4 Paper I think its horizontal width will be 11.  from crystal reports itself
    I don't want to use cross tabs nor even use sql expression. Its just a simple display report for all the employees.
    is there any simple way out to Achieve this by paging... or any other method.
    Any help regarding this issue will be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi:
       I'm not a expert in crystal report, but I would like help you,  i don't understand if must to show 50 diferrents fields in your report  or same field through 50 columns ?  for exemple:
    first case: You ned diferents fields
    F1                F2                 F3                 ... F50
    item1  F1      Item1 F2         Item1 F3       Item F50
    item2  F1      Ite21 F2         Item2 F3       Item F50
    In this case you must put the 50 fields in the report, just enough small to fit page
    second case: You nedd the same field in 50 columns
    Colum 1      Colum2      Column 50
    item 0          item 11      item 490
    item 1          item 12      item 491
    item 2          item 13      item492
    item 10       item 20      item 500
    inm this case i haven't idea how to make it (sorry)

  • Single report with multiple queries OR multiple reports with single query

    Hello Experts,
    I have a confusion regarding Live Office connection for many days. I asked many people but did not get a concrete answer. I am re-posting this question here and expecting an answer this time.
    The product versions that I am using are as follows:
    FrontEnd:
      BOE XI 3.1 SP4 FP 4.1
      Xcelsius Enterprise 2008 SP4
    Backend:
      SAP BW 7.0 EHP1
    I have created a dashboard which is getting data from a webi report using LO connections.
    The webi report has five report parts which are populated by five different queries.
    Now my question is, when the five LO connections are refreshed, is the webi report refreshed five times or just once?
    If the report is refreshed five times, then I guess it is better to have five different webi reports containing single report part, because in that way we can prevent same query being executed multiple times.
    SO what is the best practice- to have a single report having multiple queries - OR - to create multiple webi reports with single query?
    Thanks and Regards,
    PASG

    HI
    I think Best Practice is Multiple reports with single query
    Any way If LO connections refresh 5 time the query will refresh 5 timesRegards

  • Printing issue with pdftops for XML publisher reports.

    Hi All,
    We have recently upgraded from 11.5.10 to R12.1.3.
    We are facing a strange issue for some of the seeded reports that were converted to type XML after R12 upgrade.
    First, the reports were printed with junk / xml character while submitting the requests from application (e.g. Account Analysis Report)
    We made the following changes.
    - Added PDF Publisher style with required flag set to yes to the  Account Analysis Report.
    - Set proifle option "FND: Default Template Output Type"  to PDF   (it was blank)
    - The pasta_pdf.cfg is configured to use pdftops for conversion
    - Restarted the manager.
    After this, the above report is priting fine and pdftops is converting it to correct format before printing.
    But one of the printer that Oracle EBS is configured is getting stuck specifically for this postscript based request.  The same report prints well on another printer.
    The 'lpstat -t' shows the following status for the failing printer.
    =============
    printer PRT1 is idle.  enabled since Tue 23 Jul 2013 03:24:40 PM EDT
            /usr/lib/cups/filter/pstoraster failed
    =============
    The printer queue logs on the application servers shows the following details for the failing printer.

    ==============
    It only goes through 2 filters and prints just fine
    The system admin team has tried to re-install the printer driver but no luck.
    Any idea what could be the cause and how can fix it?
    Any pointers will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Sunil Bhavsar

    Thanks Hussein.
    I will check the 2 options you recommended. At the same, I would like to test the direct print from the OS using pdftops utility.  But not sure how can I do that?
    The concurrent request creates the .tmp file under APPLTMP and pass that as the parameter while printing such requests. But if we need to test the .PDF output using pdftops directly, what should be the syntax? Or I would say, what should be the input file and output file?
    e.g.
    pdftops {infile} {outfile}
    I have got the .PDF output under $APPLCSF/$APPLOUT. But from one of the failed request logs, I see the system passes both as .tmp. If we need to test this directly, is there any way?
    In the meantime, I will check the debug logs option and update if it provides any additional information.
    Regards,
    Sunil

    Isn't there a way for you to do this via a Package/Procedure versus having multiple queries?
    Per the BI Publisher guide,
    Following are recommended guidelines for building data models:
    Reduce the number of data sets or queries in your data model as much as possible. In general, the fewer data sets and queries you have, the faster your data model will run. While multiquery data models are often easier to understand, single-query data models tend to execute more quickly. It is important to understand that in parent-child queries, for every parent, the child query is executed.
    You should only use multiquery data models in the following scenarios:
    To perform functions that the query type, such as a SQL query, does not support directly.
    To support complex views (for example, distributed queries or GROUP BY queries).
    To simulate a view when you do not have or want to use a view.

  • How do I convert a .pdf with columns into a word doc?

    I know how to convert a regular .pdf to a word doc but when I try and convert one with columns it combines the columns as if it thinks it is all straight across lines with a big space in it.

    In my experience, there's not much you can do outside of copying and pasting page by page.

    You can.
    Install the oracle forms tables with system users, you can find the scripts in the path; c:\orant\tools\dbtab60.
    You will find several scripts, run those scripts then you can save your forms, menus,.. to database

  • When I convert a doc with hyperlinks into a PDF on a Mac links in the PDF don't work

    Hey guys, please advise how to make a PDF on a Mac so that hyperlinks from the original file remain active and working in the PDF document? The links which look like a web address (http://www....) are converted correctly and open fine, but when a hyperlink is tied up to some piece of text (e.g., Watch on Youtube - and you can click on this phrase and the video opens) this link in a PDF file does not work, although it does in the original Word/PPT document.
    When I make a PDF on a PC everything's fine: I can click on a link in the PDF and the website opens. But when I make the same operation on a Mac the links do not work...

    There have been some methods posted by MAC users to address this issue. The MAC does not have the PDF Maker option that is available for the PC and so extra steps are needed. Sorry, but I do not know the process but would just suggest that you search the forum.

  • Slow performance refreshing report with multiple subreports in main report

    I am using multiple subreports in my main report that appear to be slowing down the performance of the report considerably. Is there something I can do to increase performance with subreports.

    Hi Brian,
    Subreports are a known performance hog.
    I would suggest going back to the drawing board and rethinking on the layout of the report. The best thing, of course, would be to completely get rid of the subreports by creating a single SQL statement that takes care of all the report's requirements.
    Sometimes it is imperative to have subreports, in which case, you should try to make sure any selection filters from both the Main Report and the Subreport are passed back to the database.
    Also, avoid using Page N of M for better performance - with or without Subreports.
