  • Out put form in both English and Arabic

    Hi Friends
Am working in Saudi Arabia with a client. The requirement is that the payslip should have the text fields in both  English and the Arabic Language. Like wise the client needs every letter from his side to have the content in both English and Arabic languages.
ie both the languages in the same sheet. Half in one column English and  the second column in Arabic. The log on Language when Arabic is only giving me inputs in Arabic.
    Thanks in Advance

My suggestion would be to try converting the form to XML using <10gHome>\bin\frmf2xml.bat, and altering this XML to look like R1 XML. Simply changing the Module version might do the trick, but probably not.
To see the difference between 10gR1 and 10gR2 XML formats, take a reasonably complex R1 form and convert it to XML. Next, upgrade that same form to R2 and convert it to XML. Compare the two XML files.
Applying the knowledge gained from this comparison, modify the XML from your original R2 form. Try converting back to FMB using <10gHome>\bin\frmxml2f.bat Please share your findings with the forum!
    Hope this helps,

PS: It is assumed that you have access to both 10gR1 and R2 installations!

  • Does Oracle9i/Forms Developer support Win98/XP Home

I would like to download Oracle9i/Forms Developer to build forms. Can the NT version be installed on Windows 98 SE or Windows XP Home Ed and run without problems? Thanks.

the character sets are different for client and server. the server side character set is AR8ISO8859P6 and for client side its AR8MSWIN1256. they registry key is NLS_LANG which needs to be changed to the above character sets accordingly. On the client you will need to add the language support in the operating system. see if arabic character set is working in your other applications.
    this is about it.

  • How long is Oracle Forms/Developer Suite to be supported?

    Hi.
I'm just curious how long Oracle are committed to supporting or creating new versions of Oracle Forms Developer / Developer Suite. I've heard, from one or two sources, that the intention is to abandon forms, and move the focus completely to Jdeveloper some time soon...
Is this true? does anyone know anything different?

Here we are again whith that question...
I'm a senior forms developer (and to make a little humour i've just recently learned designer...)
I think the confusion comes also from "J2EE Application Development for Forms and Designer Developers" which can make us thinking oracle is pushing up to J2EE and prepare us for the Dead of Forms RIP ...
And also that forms developer like me are a little bit afraid because they probably have no skills in J2EE.
But for me it is clear now.
There is no reason to migrate Forms to J2EE with whatelse tool can be sell to you.
I tried some demos in the past with such tools and it makes me laugh, converting a simple master detail forms dept/emp.
What can such tools make with very complex forms and logic ?
But the question is if I had to create a new application will i still do it with Forms ?
And the answer (for me) is no, especially when I see what the next Jdeveloper 11g will be able to do (I tried the fusion order demo and i was really impressed)
You say "I've invested so much time in learning, and becoming proficient at Oracle Forms..."
And so did I but I bought the book "Oracle JDeveloper 10g for Forms and PL/SQL Developers" and I study it page after page to enter the ADF world and upgrade my knowledge.
So Forms or J2EE it is your choice and i will not post the link to the SOD (francois did it) but Forms can also live in a SOA world http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/forms/pdf/10gR2/forms-soa-wp.pdf
but we, forms developers, we must not only focus on forms and its death, but also go ahead and invest so much time we did to learn forms in learning J2EE, BPEL and etc etc.
    Hope this can help
    Jean-Yves
ps : relating to older post, forms was dead each time a new version of the appServer was comming :o)

  • FRM-10043: Cannot open file after converting SQL*Form 2.3 INP to 4.5 FMB

After running the f45gen32.exe on a version SQL*Form 2.3 INP file, it generates
the version 4.5 FMB adn the .err file (that does not indicate that any errors have occurred).
When I attempt to open the converted module using Developer 2000 v.1.3, it continuously
    indicates the following error:
    FRM-10043: Cannot open file
This error is received despite selecting all the required conversion parameters (per metalink and
other notes found on this forum).
This is a conversion of SQL*Forms version 2.3 to 4.5, with the ultimate goal of converting to 6i.
The same process works with other forms.?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone have a workaround for this issue?
Is Developer 2000 v.1.3 the incorrect version to use?
    Thank you for your assistance.

  • URGENT!!- English To Arabic Site

    Hi,
I have an application which is being developed in English, I want the same site in Arabic(ar-ae) too.
So that I did the globalization steps and tried to upload the translated file(.XLFF) file. The arabic text is visible but going ahead I also want RTL alignment of pages of Arabic site.
I need the Primary language is English and Secondary language is Arabic.
I have Oracle 10g with Apex 3.2 and Web toolkit 10.1.2.0.6.
    Please help ASAP
    Cheers,

    Hello SDK,

Right-To-Left support is not that simple. If you really want to learn how to do it properly you should check my book, which includes a dedicated chapter for APEX Right-To-Left support (and I’m apologizing for the self promotion).
I general, you should separate your page template into English and Arabic. The English template is the default one, but you should mark it a translatable, so it will be included in your XLIFF file. In the file, in the appropriate <target> tag, you should include all the relevant statements to the Right-To-Left support.
In your specific example, the (English) page template should remain unchanged, and the DIR attribute should only be added in the XLIFF file.
