Converting Pages 09 to PDFX1a format

When I try to convert a Pages document, even a black and white document, to a PDFX1a format, which my printer requires, I get the following message: how to "The CMYK and gray scale printing tone values must be color corrected and adjusted for a single characterized printing condition."
Can anyone tell me how to do this?

I get the following message: how to "The CMYK and gray scale printing tone values must be color corrected and adjusted for a single characterized printing condition."
The technical reason is that the separations (ink limit, graybalance) should be unified for the intended printing condition. The unification is done by the characterisation of that printing condition which takes the form of an ICC PRTR Printer profile. In other words, the image objects input to the pagination should be in the same ICC PRTR source colour space with CMYK as source colourant space (RGB and La*b are not allowed as source colourant spaces in PDF/X-1a, nor is type MNTR Monitor allowed). PDF/X-1a pushes the responsibility for the conversion to printable colourants onto the shoulders of the person who prepares the pagination (aka you) whereas PDF/X-3 makes the person who provides the printing service responsible for the conversion to printable colourants.
