This really has nothing to do with the
PDF Language and Specifications. Please repost in the appropriate product forum.

  • Cannot convert to JPEG in Photoshop CS2

I have a free trial version of Adobe Photoshop CS2 and for some unknown reason when I open a PDF file Photoshop is reading it as a Bitmap Image and when I go to save it as a JPEG it will not let me. Any helpful insight is greatly appreciated.

If the image is a bitmap, select Image/Mode/RGB Color. Make sure the color depth is 8 bits. Then you should be able to save into Jpeg.

  • Fine lines all over the picture after converting PDF file to Photoshop CC.

I converted a PDF-file (PDF/X-1a) into a Photoshop file using Photoshop CC and got fine lines over the picture.
Using Photoshop CS5, those lines will not appear.
    Why?

A little mor information. There are no tiles visible in the PDF file from InDesign CC. They appear after converting to Photoshop CC. The PDF file was a PDF/X-1a:2001. Now I wrote a PDF/X-4:2008 in Indesign CC and there are nor mor tiles but horizontal lines already in the PDF. Converted to Photoshop CC, this lines are still visible:
but they are vanished, if I use Photoshop CS5 for converting:

I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 plus I create PDF files for work some are scan pdf docs. When I install Photoshop Elements 10 it DOES convert all the PDF files to Photoshop Elements-10 Docs. it even changes and shows the PSE-10 Icon. So I am alway installing PSE-10 or uninstalling it. If I send the  PDF file that has been automatically converted to a PSE-10 the person I send the file to can not open it because they do not have PSE-10. What can I do to stop PSE-10 from converting my PDF files? Don't tell me to upgrade PSE-10 I tried their on-line program and  it is too advance for a hobby photographer like myself and their Help Desk is impossible to reach.

    Hi,
Can you please share the logs?
You can use the Adobe  Log Collector tool (Log Collector Tool) and share the corresponding zip file @ [email protected]

  • PhotoShop CS2 and PDF Presets question.

    Hello,
I have installed the recent free release of Adobe Photoshop CS2 on my Win 8.1 PC.
I am creating the artwork for a CD Cover, by using a CYMK template from CD-Baby.
They require that the finished artwork be submitted to them in PDF format, using the [PDF/X-4:2008] preset.
I found that Photoshop CS2 didn't come with this preset, but after searching the web, I came across this forum whereby a user posted a link to a "JobOptions" archive file at...
         http://dl.dropbox.com/u/16243351/joboptions.rar
... I downloaded this RAR file and found that there was a file inside called "x4;2008.joboptions"
I installed this preset by the 'EDIT/Adobe PDF Presets/' route, and it seemed to successfully install the preset.
    (No errors at least).
Now when I go to save my finished project as PDF, I am given the choice of...
    * [PDF/X-1a:2001]
    * [PDF/X-3:2002]
    * x4;2008
(this is the exact description of each preset).
My only question is, do you think the desired [PDF/X-4:2008] was correctly installed?,
I'm not sure since the naming format is not exactly the same as the first 2 presets descriptions.
    Thank you.

    thanks for your reply  Mylenium.
is it possible that this user preset might not exactly conform to the desired preset I'm after?
is there any way I can get a genuine copy of the factory preset [PDF/X-4:2008]?
    thanks.

  • Can't convert Canon CR2 RAW files to photoshop CS2- please help!

I have a Canon EOS Rebel XT and am using Photoshop CS2 and can not open my Raw images. Canon saves the images as a CS2 file. I guess needs converting.. Please Help!!

    Daag Kees,
    >[Kees] DNG converter 4_3_1 don't convert my raw Leica M8- images to digital negatives files that will open in Photoshop CS 8.0.1. (Camera raw 2.0).
Of course not. You need ACR (Camera Raw) version 2.4. Version 2.0 does NOT support DNGs.
After you correctly install ACR 2.4 according to the instructions on the download page and after you relaunch Photoshop, you need to Purge the Cache for each folder.
    >[Michael] Simply run the DNG converter and point it at your M8 raw files and they will be converted to DNG.
Nope. Point the DNG Converter to a folder containing RAW files, not to the raw files themselves. The DNG Converter works on Folders containing raw files, not on individual files.
    >What means "using Bridge" ?
Forget that. It does NOT apply to Photoshop 8.x. In CS3, you can have ACR hosted either by Photoshop or by Bridge. Photoshop 8.x doesn't even have Bridge.

  • Error 1324 + PDF's are defaulting to Photoshop CS2

I recently installed a trial version of Photoshop CS2 which was on a disc lent to me. I am now regretting this action because when I go to open a PDF file it defaults to Photoshop instead of Acrobat Reader.
When attempting to un-install this trial version of CS2 I get an error message  "Error 1324. The path 'My Pictures' cantains an invalid character"
Sure would like some help out of this situation.

    Dear John,
Many thanks for your reply to my problem which is occurring when attempting
to open PDF files emailed to me. The email program is MS Outlook 2003 (on
Windows XP) and this is my work computer.
Perhaps the Photoshop CS2 disc may have been corrupted as I have no idea of
its history however I have managed to un-install it and can do without it.
But now I am having difficulty opening PDF files even though I have Acrobat
Reader v8. I am unable to update this to the current v9.0.1 because when I
do, I get this same error message
"Error 1324 The path My Pictures or the volume is invalid. Please enter it
    and try again"
Do I continue to try the fix you suggested or something different. If yes,
can you please explain where I might find 'Folder Options' and 'File Types'
in a drop down menu in Windows Explorer as I cannot find them in mine?
    Best regards
    Simon

If your program is Photoshop Elements (any version), you have posted in the wrong forum. Somehow your thread was posted in the Adobe Premiere Elements Forum (video editing).
Please re-post your thread in the Adobe Photoshop Elements Forum or wait for a moderator here to see your thread here and move it from here to there.

But wherever your thread ends up, please give more details of your situation. I am not understanding "it converts all my pdf files to Photoshop Elements 10". You control the Save As.

Nothing has been converted. You first need to convince yourself of this.
Start Adobe Reader (or Adobe Acrobat, if you have it). Use Open from the File menu. Pick one of your PDF files. Does it open OK? If not, what happens?
Ok, these emails. What exactly happens when trying to open them?

  • How do I convert a pdf file to photoshop?

how do I convert a pdf file to photoshop?

unless you understand what you're doing and why, opening .pdf in Photoshop is a very risky move
because any vector objects, including fonts, will be pixelized (rastered at the chosen document ppi)
this really sucks if the designer delivered a professionally packaged PDF with vector elements because the vector will not print vector sharp
    for example
a moron at a print shop drags PDF business cards or posters into Photoshop and prints pixelized vector objects -- when you ask why the vector didn't print sharp -- they are clueless
you also may hit profile issues that change the designer's color
there must be 50 ways to ruin a project (and 25 of them are downstream)...

  • How to import B & W from Photoshop CS2

Hi, I'm new to this forum, so be gentle! <g>
I'm trying to make a slideshow, mixing color and black-and-white images. All of these images are scanned, from prints or slides. The b&w images are then converted from 16-bit RGB to 8-bit grayscale, then edited in Photoshop CS2, then imported into iPhoto.
(Just as a sidenote of possibly dubious relevance, the color images begin digital life as 16-bit, the grayscale as 8-bit.)
These images look fine as 8-bit grayscale images in CS2, but when I import them into iPhoto, either in a batch, or individually, they show up as black rectangles. If I click on the rectangle, I see a negative of my image.
This used to work ok, before I upgraded both to CS2 and iPhoto 6. How can I get this to work again?
I have both a 15-inch G4 Powerbook, and a dual 2.7 GHz G5 PowerMac, running the current system and the same version of all software. The PB has 2 GB of RAM, the tower 3.5 GB.

    Hi! Thanx for your response.
It is not clear that he has imported it as wmv or pdf, but the slideshow has to be imported in such a manner that it can still be edited (Captions, effects etc.)
Creating a wmv or pdf will not allow the same.
    Any Ideas?

    Photoshop CS2 and Nikon D200
    Chuck Dell - 09:20am Dec 19, 2005 Pacific
Just purchased new Nikon D200. RAW Images will not open in Photoshop CS2. Receive Adobe Photoshop CS2 error message "Could not complete your request because of a program error." Images taken with this camera will open in Nikon Capture 4.4 and then can be transferred to CS2 But attempting to open RAW images directly with CS2 is futile.
Images taken with Nikon D2h and Nikon D100 flow perfectly through CS2
Only images taken with Nikon D200 will not open in CS2.
Is this Nikon problem or an Adobe problem?

  • Can't open .NEF files in Photoshop CS2

Heres the deal: I've updated and installed my camera raw in Photoshop CS2, so I have the latest version of it (ACR 3.7). I still can not open my .NEF files in Photoshop and when I view the files from Bridge it shows the generic thumbnail image.
    Information that might help:
    PS Version: Photoshop CS2
    ACR Version: Camera Raw 3.7
    Camera: Nikon D60
    Operating Sys: Mac OSX
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The D60 was not supported in ACR 3.7.  In fact, that version was the first to support the D40.  You will have to use the latest version of the DNG converter to convert your raw images to DNG.  Then you can open those files in ACR 3.7.

  • Unable to see DNG files in Photoshop CS2

    Hi:
I am using Photoshop CS2 in Windows XP Pro and have *.CR2 pictures taken with Canon EOS 40D.
    I downloaded Camera_Raw_3.7.zip and extracted Camera Raw.8bi to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS2\File Formats
I downloaded Adobe DNG Converter ver. 4.3.1 and converted the Canon CR2 files to DNG files.
I can see the pictures in Adobe Bridge CS2 1.0.4.6 fine.
However, when I open Adobe Photoshop CS2 and try File/open, the drop down does not show any selection for DNG files. If I try to physically drag a file into Photoshop, I get the message that the extension is not supported.
Upon opening Help/About Plug-In, I do not see Camera raw anywhere in the long list.
What do I need to do to bring DNG files into Photoshop?
    Thanks.

If you don't see Camera Raw in the list it usually means that it is not in the correct folder or the it might be damaged.
It looks like you listed the correct folder at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS2\File Formats
When you navigate to that folder do you see Camera Raw.8bi listed? It might only say Camera Raw, depending on how you have Windows set up.
Did you restart Photoshop after putting the filter into the File Formats folder?
