Converting PDF to RTF?

I have a PDF that I need to put into RTF    Conversion is not working   What can I do??

Are you using Acrobat or an Adobe online subscription service?
The subscription services have their own user forums and subscriber support (at the service's site).
If you are using Acrobat XI use this click path:

  • Need to batch convert PDF to RTF while maintaining original folder structure

I'm using Acrobat Pro 9 and I need a way to batch convert PDF files to RTF while maintaining the original folder structure.  So for instance, I might get a set of interview transcripts that were conducted with members of 1000 randomly selected households in 3 different cities.  Something like this, where the words in all caps are folder names:
    BOSTON
           HH1001
                PERSON-1A
                        Interview1.pdf
                        Interview2.pdf
                PERSON-2A
                        Interview1.pdf
                        Interview2.pdf
           HH1002
                PERSON-1A
                        Interview1.pdf
                        Interview2.pdf
                PERSON-2A
                        Interview1.pdf
                        Interview2.pdf
                PERSON-1C
                        Interview1.pdf
                        Interview2.pdf
    DETROIT
           HH2001
                PERSON-1A
                        Interview1.pdf
                        Interview2.pdf
                PERSON-2A
                        Interview1.pdf
                        Interview2.pdf
           HH2002
                PERSON-1A
                        Interview1.pdf
                        Interview2.pdf
                PERSON-2A
                        Interview1.pdf
                        Interview2.pdf
                PERSON-1C
                        Interview1.pdf
                        Interview2.pdf
As u can see, the folder structure can get quite complicated and it's important to keep it the same.  Is there any way I can batch convert without having to open all 1000 files at once (which would crash the computer) or without having to add each subfolder to the Export Multiple Files window?
I also tried saving the original folders and files in a portfolio and then converting the portfolio, but that puts all the converted files in a single folder.

For the output location choose 'Same Folder as Original(s)'
Yes, I've done that many times.  It doesn't put them in the correct folder structure, it just puts all the new files in the highest-level folder.

  • API to convert PDF to RTF;  .jar files

We need to use java API to convert PDF file to RTF format.
I'm trying to use java example at:
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/livecycle/8.2/programLC/programmer/help/wwhelp/wwhimpl/common/ht ml/wwhelp.htm?context=sdkHelp&f
    ile=000452.html
    I have 2 questions:
    1. I can't find .jar files for that example:
    adobe-generatepdf-client.jar
    adobe-livecycle-client.jar
    adobe-usermanager-client.jar
    adobe-utilities.jar
    jbossall-client.jar
Any version of Livecycle I download do not have such files
What I should download to get those files?
    2. Could I do conversion having Tomcat only, without JBoss or WebLogic?
    Thanks,
    Mikhail

    1. They should be under C:\Adobe\Adobe LiveCycle ES2\LiveCycle_ES_SDK\client-libs\common. This is the LiveCycle SDK.
    2. No can't do the conversion with TomCat only. You need an application server (JBoss, WebSphere, WebLogic).

  • How to convert pdf to rtf format

I am badly facing problem in exporting pdf to rtf please help me.

Look at the doc.saveAs JavaScript method: http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9.1/Acrobat9_1_HTMLHelp/JS_API_AcroJS.88.524.html
You can save to other formats when you include the corresponding cConvID parameter. It can be used in a batch sequence, but you'll need the Pro version for that.

  • How do I convert legacy PM 6 docs to either PDF (or RTF)?

    Hi,
I have a ton of legacy PageMaker 6 documents that I now need to convert to PDF. I no longer have the PM 6 program. I tried the Create AdobePDF Online service, but it doesn't support .pm6 formats. I know that you can convert PM6 to RTF and then import to FrameMaker 9 (which I do have), from which I can create the PDF. Is anyone aware of a service or method to get the PM 6 docs into either PDF, RTF, or FM9? I'm on Windows 7 OS. Thanks for your help.

Sorry, Win 7 and PM are a lousy combination.
Find an old computer to do this with.

  • Is it allowed to convert pdf documents into rtf using Adobe SDK

    Hello
Can I convert pdf document into rtf using Adobe SDK?
Is available this functionality on c# code? Which assemblies i can use for it?

which is why it has to be on the desktop and not a server.
I didn't quite understand your statement. Could you, please, explain, why I can't use it only on the desktop and not a server? And, could you provide documentation, where I can find information about converting documents using c#?

  • Need to convert pdf to word

need to convert pdf to word

    Hi gurpreetkhalsa,
To convert a PDF file to Word format, you need ExportPDF, Adobe PDF Pack, or Acrobat. Which option you choose depends on whether you need additional features--ExportPDF is the most basic option, and offers the ability to convert to Word, Excel, or RTF.

  • Unable to convert PDF files to any other file format using Acrobat XI Pro

    Acrobat XI Pro ver11.0.2
    Office 2013 Pro Plus
    Windows 8 Pro
When I open a PDF file and try to export file to: Word, RTF, Excel, XML or PowerPoint, I woud receive the error below.
Save As failed to process this document. No file was created.
I recall in the past that I was able to export PDF to Excel & Word.  I simply tried the other file formats to see what happens.
Unfortunately for me, this is happening to both of my machines.  Same version software except the other machine is Windows 7 Pro. I have admin level rights to both PCs.
Not sure what to do at this point.
As another test, I did the following.
Created a document in Word, then saved as a PDF file.  Opened that PDF file to save as a Word doc and I received the error listed above.
    Any suggestions are appreciated.
    Thank you

    Thank you for the suggestions
"Created a document in Word, then saved as a PDF file.  Opened that PDF file to save as a Word doc and I received the error listed above".
I used another machine.  Created a Virtual Machine with Office 2013 and Acobat XI and I do not have issues with converting PDF to any of the available formats.  Its not the file I'm using, its the software itself that is the issue.
Unfortunately, I did uninstall Office 2013 & Acrobat XI then reinstalled but I still have the problem so I can only guess once its broken in the registry, I will continue to have an issue.
For now, I'm going to move Acrobat XI on the VM since I dont have time to reinstall Windows 8.

  • Converting pdf to Word 2003 in Acrobat 9 Pro

I am using Acrobat 9 Pro.  I want to convert pdfs to Word 2003.  I have followed the instructions to export to Word, but when I get to the dialog box that selects the conversion method, I choose Flowing, which is recommended, and click OK, and I get an error message that my PDF document may be corrupt.  This happens with every pdf, whether it is a form downloaded from the internet or a text document I have created myself.  If I try to convert to RTF instead, it makes the "conversion", but in doing so, it creates a file containing an image that is not editable -- it does not create a plain text, editable file.
Is the problem that I am using Word 2003?  Word 2003 is not on the list of file formats to which the pdf can be exported, but when I get to that screen, I choose Workshare PDF in Word (which I believe I read somewhere is the correct choice for conversion to Word 2003) as my selection and it gets me to the "conversion method" screen (which gets me to the corruption error message). Again, even if I choose rtf, I do not get an editable document.
    Any ideas???

    Something to try -
    Export the PDF to RTF.
Open the RTF file with Word Pad.
Save As (perhaps to a new filename -- 'something_bis.rtf')
Open this file with MS Word.
Not particularly surprising that the PDF you posted behaves poorly when 'worked' with Acrobat.
It is an output of Ghostscript.
Compounding the awkwardness of export is the fact that the PDF is not a Tagged PDF.
A significant raison d'etre for Tagged PDF is to support export of PDF content to a word processor application.

  • Is it possible to convert *.doc to *.rtf in a java program?

    Hi :-)
My challenge is to develop a web-app in ADF Faces. Now i verify some technologies to store mailmerge letters in an easy way. The user of my web-app should upload a MS Word mailmerge document and a csv data source file. My web-app must thereupon convert this two files to a pdf per csv-row and store it to a ftp.
I have build a demo using the open office API. But now i want to try the same by using apache POI and FOP. I can merge the doc files with POI and i can create PDF with FOP.
My problem is, that POI cant convert to a rtf file and FOP uses an rtf file to create a pdf. I dont know, if its possible to convert a doc file to a rtf file. If its possible, is there an API, which will help me out?
    Regards
    Majo
btw...I am not sure, if its the right forum for my question :-/

HeHe, no sorry. The binary file is the same, because Windows bind doc and rtf with MS Word, it opens the file, which you have renamed to *.rtf in MS Word. But as a doc document, not as a rtf file ;-)
And i dont want to open the rtf file in MS Word. I want to process the rtf file in java.
    Thanks

  • How do I convert pdf back to word?

I converted a pdf to word.  How do I convert that same file back to pdf so that it looks the same as the initial pdf document?  Thanks.

    Hi gcw92591042,
I just checked your subscription details and you are currently subscribed to Adobe Export PDF service that enables you to convert pdf documents into various other formats like .doc, .rtf etc.
However in order to convert such files back into pdf format, you need to subscribe to Adobe PDF Pack(Reliably Create PDFs, Convert PDFs, & Merge PDFs Online | Adobe PDF Pack ).
Alternatively you can use Acrobat software to edit your pdf files without getting into the hassle of converting them into doc format and vice-verse. You can download a free 30 day trial from this Link - Download Acrobat products | Standard, Pro | XI, X
Hope that helps with your query. Please revert back if you have any other questions or need any further assistance.

  • PDF to RTF issue needs resolving

    Hi all
I am using OS X 10.7.2 and have an issue converting scanned PDFs to RTF using Automator.  Now here's the issue:  When I scan text from my HP All-In-One C6180 and use HP scan I am ble to select this resulting PDF file and place it into my PDF to RTF Convertor made in Automator and I can easily pull out the text and then load it into Word for editing. Not a problem. However, if I use Preview or Image Capture to scan using the HP All-In-One the resulting file will open as a PDF without a problem but if I attempt to convert it to RTF I just end up with an empty file. I can't seem to put my finger on the problem.  Any help would be appreciated.  Cheers.

    Hi wasilh,
I'm sorry that you're experiencing trouble with ExportPDF. It sounds as though the ExportPDF service is timing out before it can process the entire file (which can happen when a file is complex, even if it's within the 100 MB file size limit).
Clear the browser cache and try converting again, or try using a different web browser. If that fails, you might want to give Acrobat a try.
Acrobat lets you save directly to Word format, so you might want to try a free 30-day trial to get this document converted. For more information, see www.adobe.com/products/acrobat.html.

  • Converting .pdf files to Word in Pro v9 for Mac

I have just purchased a copy of Acrobat Pro v9 for Mac with the idea of converting .pdf files to word documents in the correct format and for editing.  When I attempt to export a .pdf file to Word (2008) or save as a Word doc or docx file, the file doesn't open and my Word program freezes.  To unfreeze, I need for force quit Word and begin again.  I was told that pdf to word could be done in this version of Acrobat.  Has anyone had this experience?

What type Document, was it to begin with? (Text/Image)
If the PDF was a Text document, you should be able to with no problem?
IF text based and converted, try opening word first then open the document.
There is a format that Word will read called RTF (Rich Text File), that Word can read.
Try converting to RTF then try opening. When opened then save as DOC or DOCX
If it was created from a scan, Word my not open it, because it is an image (a Big Picture).
Finally, if it has a lot of images, they may not do right, and may cause a lot of  problems.

  • The problem with the correct diagnosis sensitive when exporting PDF to RTF

    Welcome.
I came across the following error when converting PDF files to RTF program "Adobe Acrobat XI Pro" - it happens that some files (unfortunately, they form the majority of those who support it) some letters for some reason are not properly converted - for example, instead of getting a word in capital letters word in which the first letter is small and the other large. This is just one of many examples - "POLICE" -> "pOLICE", etc.
Can someone already encountered a similar problem? Is interesting to add that when I open this PDF in the "Adobe Reader" and choose "save as" -> "text" - the letters are incorrect.
I apologize in advance for any spelling mistakes - the text is translated automatically :-)
    PDF:
    RTF:

Unfortunately, this was afraid ... I understand that there is no way to get around this? I do not have any influence on how the PDF files are created - just get there already, and I bring them into a fully editable (RTF).
