Converting PDFs to forms and FAPs by batch !

Hi everyone,
We can convert a PDF into FAPs with the Conversion Wizard available in documaker Studio.
Just curious to know whether this whole process can be done in a batch (or automation).
Whenever i upload a PDF, it needs to get converted into FAPs without manual intervention. Do we have any such utility ?
Your help is greatly appreciated. thanks in advance !
(Ofcourse, there are functions like AddmultiPageTIFF where we can attach the external file along with the output. However, we need these external file (PDF or TIFF) in FAPs - to save memory space of the outputs)
regards,
Navin

The utility converts a PDF into an image file is that what you require? There is no batch utility for this purpose.
To convert a PDF into a text based FAP, I'd recommend a tool called SolidPDF or you can use teh included Adobe conversion. SolidPDF does a very good job of retaining the fidelity of the document - especially if it was converted from word or some other text based tool.
If you are trying to use the PDF in stream (one time dynamic use), I would recommend the ADDMULTIPAGEBITMAP rule instead. An example of this woudl be to include a copy of a signed application in a policy package. You have to stage the PDF where Documaker can pick it up.
If you are trying to save space in the output, you are better off going with the SOldiPDF conversion process. The comversion of PDF or inclusion of PDF as a bitmap uses the same process which converst teh PDF Into a bitmap, so either of these options will not necessarily save you and space in the print spool.

  • Convert PDF to XSTRING and dysplay in portal(html)

    Hi experts :
      I need your help once again. I've read all the post regarding this issue but can't find a solution for my problem.
      Basically, I have to create a PDF from a spool, convert it to xstring and send it to the web via RFC.
      What I do is :
          Convert the spool to PDF using FM CONVERT_OTFSPOOLJOB_2_PDF.
          Convert the PDF tline table into XSTRING using a field symbol and a table of tlines (as described in one of the SDN blogs).
         Then, I send to the web the value reurned from the conversion of the PDF line to XSTRING.
       But, when opening the xstring there is nor PDF file but and error. If I download the PDF tline table, it works and can create the PDF, but nothing from the XSTRING.
       My questions are :
          Do we have to do any conversion on the portal side to convert the XSTRING into PDF?
          is there any possibility of downloading the xstring to my desktop in order to check if I could create the PDF file from it?.
    Helpful answer will be rewarded.
    Regards,
    Carlos.

    For the last question, use this code:
    FORM write_bin_file
          USING
            i_filename      TYPE string
            i_file_xstring  TYPE xstring.
      TYPES xx(50) TYPE x.
      DATA lt_xstring TYPE TABLE OF xx.
      DATA l_length TYPE i.
      CALL METHOD cl_swf_utl_convert_xstring=>xstring_to_table
        EXPORTING
          i_stream = i_file_xstring
        IMPORTING
          e_table  = lt_xstring
        EXCEPTIONS
          OTHERS   = 3.
      l_length = XSTRLEN( i_file_xstring ).
      CALL METHOD cl_gui_frontend_services=>gui_download
        EXPORTING
          bin_filesize = l_length
          filename     = i_filename
          filetype     = 'BIN'
        CHANGING
          data_tab     = lt_xstring

  • I need help in converting PDF to PS and back to PDF

    I am using the ghostScript distiller for PS to PDF file conversions. I need to know if I can make it convert from PDF to PS and back to PDF while optimizing the PDF in the process using the pdfopt.bat. I believe that changes need to be made to idcrefinery.cfg to allow for this conversion (Using an inbound refinery "IBR" to convert certain file types to PDF when checked in through a content server). My need is to be able to optimize PDF files upon checkin to the content server. Any tips, guidance, or ANY help would be greatly appriciated.
    Thank you,
    Roger

    Sounds like a question for GhostScript users, not Acrobat users.

  • Converting Developer 6i forms and reports

    I am new born to Application Express can any one help me in this regard that whether converting Developer 6i forms into Application Express is possible.
    Any concrete resource on this.
    Thanks.

    Some things that are simple to implement in Oracle Forms are a nightmare to replicate in APEX. I am pretty sure some things that are easy in APEX are difficult in Oracle Forms.
    For example it is pretty easy in Oracle Forms to have a module with a Master Block with several related Detail Blocks in separate tabs below - but in APEX an absolute nightmare, only one updateable SQL query per page (tabular detail update region), tabs are per page and not on a region. I have seen people asking in this Forum how to implement this Master with Multiple Details but the responses become as common as hen's teeth.
    Layout of interface items in APEX is a bit hit and miss as it uses HTML tables/rows/cells etc. compared to the exact x,y pixel you can use in Oracle Forms Layout Editor.

    Phil

    Hi sdh138,
    It can take a few hours for your order to process fully, and I do see that your subscription is still "pending" in our order management system. If you're still unable to access the service in a few hours, please let us know.

    I wanted the programme which converts pdf documents to word and I received something which allows you to convert it manually. How do I fix this.

    Hi,
    In Adobe Export PDF you can do it manually.
    But in Acrobat you can do it automatically by using 'Action Wizard' option.
    Please let us know if you require further assistance.

  • Can I convert PDF to HTML form

    I'm trying to upload a PDF fillable form and have the ability to post as an HTML form link. Is this possible? It seems the only way I'm able to distribute this PDF form is via email download. Its a very long form (employment application) and I don't want to have to recreate the whole thing in the HTML form builder if possible.

    Hi johnfarmernyc,
    If we import a fill-able PDF form in FormsCentral and distribute it, the only option we have is via email download. Unfortunately, we cannot distribute it using Web form.

  • How to import pdf with hyperlink and and maintain its hyperlink while exporting it as HTML?

    We can import pdf in indesign either using plaacemultiplefile script or using place submenu  under file menu but both of them import pdf as graphic object and lost its all hyperlink. no doubt when i again export its as pdf than hyperlink are there as it is but when i export it as HTML,IDML or other format than than all hyperlink are lost so is there any way to maintain this if no than is there any way to write some new script utilities which will do the same .one solution i think is first convert pdf into docx and than import it as docx indesign import  it as text frame and maintain all hyperlink but in this process pdf file lost its some formating while converting it into docx .

    I probably should've remembered "rtfm" before writing all that.  It seems to me now that I need to create a Master Page for each of the different layouts, then dynamically select the one I want to use at run-time, maybe with a script event ?  The Master Page creation is a bit messy ... the only way I seem to be able to get multiple Master Pages is to open each Word doc, let Livecycle import it, then copy all the content into a new Master Page in my main document.  That is, there doesn't seem to be a way to import a series of Word docs directly into separate Master pages of a single Livecycle form.  I'll continue with the "read" part of "rtfm" ...

  • PDF-based forms

    needed help..........
    how to create PDF-based forms

    Hi,
    1. Why do you go for PDF Based Forms when you have SAP Scripts/Smart Forms?
    In US and Europe under section 508 each and every business document should be accessible for impaired people.
    Communication is possible using XML.
    We can work off line (when SAP system is down).
    2. The Settings involved in SAP Scripts/Smart Forms.
        All Fonts, output type, Driver programs and printer details.
    Myriad Pro (some font name like that) is not available in PDF form. For other fonts no extra setting is required
    Changes in Driver Program
    Driver program
    •     Get name of the generated function module
         CALL FUNCTION 'FP_FUNCTION_MODULE_NAME'
    •     Print job needs to be opened exclusively for forms of new interface
         CALL FUNCTION 'FP_JOB_OPEN'
    •     Now call the generated function module
    … After PDF form is created it will generated FM
      CALL FUNCTION gv_fm_name
    •     Close spool job
           CALL FUNCTION 'FP_JOB_CLOSE'
    3. Does the same font/printer is supported when converted to PDF Based forms?
                Yes
    4. What difficulties are faced when conversion? Limitations in PDF Based Forms which cannot be done when trying to convert Smart forms/Sap Scripts?
         Certain conditions are there in Sap Scripts and Smart forms that can not be handled in PDF, there is something called as Scripting in PDF. Using that we can handle such kind of exceptions .But according to Good Programming technique we should rarely use it, because it affects the performance of the form.
    5. Limitations of PDF Based Forms as such?
       There is a concept called as nested tables, from Accessibility point of view there is problem.
         Headers on different pages. This is again an accessibility problem.
         Preprinted forms.
    6. Procedure Assigning output types for PDF Based forms and testing them?
        Some Basis Problem is there, that’s why I am not able to view the layout
    7. Printer configurations in PDF Based forms and the Paper size?
    •     Default printer should be Local
    •     Page Scaling should be  None
    •     Chose paper source by PDF Page size.
    points plz (if this information is usefull for U ).

  • How can user attach file to interactive form, and be read by abap program?

    Hello,
    I created an abap interactive form, sent to the user, then user fills out the form fields, then it is uploaded back to sap, then my program reads this data and process it.
    It works.
    Now I want users to be able to attach any file they want, and the abap program to extract this file out of the PDF, to put it into SAP (or anywhere).
    I succeeded in attaching a file, I can "see" it via function module get_annotations, but I get the file in compressed form by Adobe (filter="FlateDecode").
    Do you know how to unzip the file, or is there another way to attach files in adobe reader/extract them via abap?
    I use acrobat reader 8.1.2
    Thx a lot!
    sandra
    Below is the xml obtained by GET_ANNOTATIONS. We see that there are other text annotations, and that the attached file has {length="98005"}, though real file (before "attach file" to the PDF, and also after "detach file") has length 111 995 bytes. It's why I deduced that there is a compression (I also tried to extract it as-is and open it with adobe but it doesn't work.

    Hello everybody,
    I am sure you have an answer to my question above. It was :
    how is it possible for a user to ATTACH files to a PDF interactive form, and then be able to READ them via a program ? (I guess the solution to read them via ABAP or JAVA is quite the same?)
    Thx a lot !

  • How do I send a PDF fillable form from Adobe Reader Acrobat?

    I just installed Adobe Reader in my iPad to send a fillable form but as I sent it out the form is received blank by the recipient.  How do I save the PDF fillable form and send it out with the filled out information.  I am able to save it in Acrobat but for some reason I send the form but the recipient receives it blank.  What can I do?  Thank you for your help.

    Your recipient needs to use Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat to reliably view a filled form. Chances are they are using a third-party, substandard PDF reader like Apple Preview. Adobe Reader is a free download; if necessary, you could provide them a link from the Adobe website.
