Converting PowerPoint with Action Buttons To PDF Form Question

I am currently using Acrobat Pro 9.5.0 on Win 7 and Win XP sp3
I have created Power Point Slide with one Action Button.  When I set the Action Button to Hyperlink to a video file, and use Acrobat > Form > Start from Wizard ..", the PDF file created by Acrobat has my Action Button as a field.   This field allows the click of this field to execute a certain action.   This is what I want.
When I set the Action Buttion to hyperlink to an internal slide on my Power Point presentation (which has video inserted on that slide), and when I use Acrobat > Form > Start from Wizard ..", the PDF file created by Acrobat doesn't have my Action Button as a field.    It appears just as a regular pdf with no fields.
Is there a way to get the wizard to convert my Action Button when I hyperlink to a slide to show up as a field (as in hyperlinking to an external file) ???
I am using PPT 2007 (which doesn't allow true embedding of video within the PPT slide.   On PPT 2010 has this embedding feature.
I would appreciate any help you can offer.
Thank You,
G

  • Schedule appointment in outlook with submit button in pdf form

    Hi All,
    One of our client wants that when submit button is clicked on the pdf form, an appointment should be created in outlook of a pre-specified email address.
    I am aware that we can submit the form by email. Is it somehow possible, that instead of normal email with attachment, we can send an appointment email.
    Looking forward to a response.
    Many Thanks,
    Akanksha

    I don't think this is possible. The only thing you can do from
    Acrobat/Reader is create a new email draft, not anything else.

  • Help with submit button on PDF form

    I created a form via the Forms Central desktop app then saved it as a PDF to my desktop.  When opening in Adobe Acrobat XI Pro, I noticed that I am unable to include a submit button - it does not let me edit the PDF.  I've tried going back into Forms Central and adding a submit button, but that feature is not available anywhere.  Any suggestions?
    PS - My preference is to have the responses returned to me, not my Forms Central account.
    Thanks so much.

    Hi;
    OK - I can clarify some things and tell you how to do what your looking for.
    The desktop FormsCentral application tools are really designed towards create forms that do collect data on FormsCentral servers.  You can still easily create PDFs that do not submit data to FormsCentral, but you'll have to add any alternative submit functionality using the Forms tools in Acrobat.  You can create a PDF without the submit button in either case, signed in/out of the Desktop Application from the "File" - "Save as PDF Form" menu item.  You can then modify the PDF in Acrobat XI Pro by doing a "Save A Copy", when you open the copy you can edit it any way you like, adding a "Submit" button that email's the PDF/Responses back to you...
    Here's how: In Acrobat open the PDF you saved from the FormsCentral Desktop application and go to "File" - "Save a Copy" and choose a location, this will remove the security.  Open up the copy you just created and you can now edit it, here is a YouTube video tutorial using Acrobat XI, he covers the email button in about two minutes, there are lots of tutorials out there but this one is easy to follow:,

  • Setting action buttons in PDF forms

    This question was posted in response to the following article: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/acrobat/using/WSBB6EF75F-BC3D-4094-B787-FB76DAE1EBDC.w.html

    The method that you set up in Nitro is the same as you'd set up in Acrobat, so getting Acrobat won't make any difference. Also, it will not work for some Windows users as well.
    The web server method that has been mentioned is available with Adobe's FormCentral. You can distribute a PDF form by email, web server, or any other means and user can open the form in Reader, fill it in, save it, and then submit it.
    When submitted, the form data, as opposed to the complete PDF, is securely sent to the FormCentral server. You can configure it to send you an email for each received submission. The responses are saved to a table that you can access any time and export to a file that you can import into a spreadsheet or database. You can also display summary reports and generate PDF copies of filled-in forms. I think it's a bargain for about $12/month. If you already have the form created you can have it up and running with FormsCentral in a matter of minutes. You can set up an unlimited number of forms and receive an unlimited number of responses.
    Even if emailing worked reliably with a form you enable with Acrobat, you are limited by the Acrobat license agreement to using data from no more than 500 responses. With a FormsCentral enabled form, there is no such limit. Nitro is not able to enable a form to be savable with Reader.

  • Problem with JavaScript in my PDF Form buttons

    I am trying to have my user click on a button in my form on my website and e-mail the form data to me.
    I am using the following JavaScript with my form button:
    this.mailForm(false, "[email protected]", "", "", "Subject", "Message Body");
    Protected mode is off.
    When I use the above statement (whether the 1st parameter is set to true or false), nothing happens – no email gets sent and no mail dialog box appears. If I change from this.mailForm(...) to this.mailDoc(...), I get a mail dialog box but, as expected, it sends the blank form without the filled-in data due to low user privileges.
    How can I send the form data with this.mailForm(...)? (Note that I prefer to use this.mailForm(...) rather than mailto:(...) because this.mailForm(...) supposedly allows me to e-mail the form without user interaction.)
    -- Don

    Thanks for responding.  I have been using “Submit a form” in the Mouse up event.  I had that operation do a mailto: and it worked, but required user interaction on the part of the web page visitor.  I have successfully created an equivalent JavaScript including:
        var url = "mailto:[email protected]?subject=mySubject&body=MyMessage";
        this.submitForm(url, true);
    The above sent the FDF file successfully, but again, it required user interaction.
    Then I tried this JavaScript - as I mentioned in a previous post - after you said to use doc.submitForm():
        var url = "http://mydomain.com/submit_notice.php";
        doc.submitForm(url, false);
    The above script seemed to do nothing (with no error message). Shouldn't it bring up the PHP file in the web browser?
    I have that php file, submit_notice.php, created, but I have not written any PHP scripts to e-mail the FDF file.  I have never written a PHP script to take the posted FDF data and email it, but I have used the PHP mail() function and posted variables.
    As for what I want to happen on the client side after the submit takes place: I simply want the FDF file to go to an e-mail that I specify.  Additionally, I need it to happen without any client interaction on the part of the web page visitor.  I can expect that visitor to have Adobe reader, but no add-ons or protected mode requirement.
    Please give me an example that emails the FDF file without any user interaction.
    Thank you.

    Hi Pavan,
    I am getting PDF form properly in browser with no values in the fields as it should be. And i have provided one User entered field, When user enters sales order number in that field and presses the submit to sap button other fields rerlated with sales order status information should be displayed with the values related with that sales order number. But after pressing Submit to SAP button i didnt get values in other fields.
    Method for Submit to SAP button is also called properly. Even i can see the status information in fields outside the PDF form in Browser.
    So, parheps i think that whenever PDF form loads first time in browser, at that time it shows the values in the context variable. But after first load nothing is changed in that PDF form evenif the context values are changed.
    Is it true?

  • Help with exporting data from pdf form

    I have about 100 pdf forms that I created in adobe forms central and distributed as a pdf form (rather than on the web). I am trying to export the data into a spreadsheet but when I export it, the fields are all jumbled in the csv file, as in they are not in the same order. I need to export the data all together so I'm going to the forms menu and selecting "manage form data" and then selecting "merge data files into spreadsheet". I tried exporting a single file but that gave me something really weird.
    Please help, I have a deadline next week to analyze this data and can't make sense of it once it is exported to a spreadsheet.

    Would you please share your form with me and send me one of your pdf forms and some of the csv files?
    You can share your form by doing the following:
    1. Click on the “Share” icon on the bottom left corner.
    2. Click on “Add Collaborator” on the popup menu.
    3. Enter [email protected] under “People to share with”.
    4. Set subject to "Export data from pdf form"
    5. Click the “Share” button on the bottom right of the dialog.
    Thanks

  • Problem with dual buttons on a form

    Hello -
    I have a single form with two buttons, currently named
    'Button1' and 'Button2'. Both buttons lead through the default
    DW/php code to update database records (in MySQL), but I want the
    page redirect after updating to be determined by which button was
    pushed.
    I am using $_GET['ButtonName'] to direct action based on
    which button was used to submit the form. Unfortunately, I can't
    seem to redirect the page where I want.
    The code I am using is:
    =======
    if (isset($_GET['Button1'])) {
    $updateGoTo = "edit_onepage.php";
    } else {
    $updateGoTo = "account.php";
    ========
    If the user submits using Button1, I want them forwarded to
    "edit_onepage.php". If he submits using Button2, I want him
    forwarded to "account.php". Unfortunately, no matter how I fiddle
    with this code, the form is always forwarding to "account.php",
    regardless of which button is pushed.
    Can anyone see what I am missing here? Thanks in advance for
    your advice.

    Oops! Found my own mistake. It works if I retrive the button
    information with '$_POST', not '$_GET'. I'll leave this up in case
    anyone else has a similar porblem.

  • Reader X - Getting Security Alert with a data filled PDF form

    My site uses PDF forms that have their data filled in dynamically by the classic asp code on the site. Before Reader X version, they were filled and displayed without a problem. With Reader X they display the security warning: "Data from this site is blocked to avoid potential security risks....." and the Options button to trust the site. I get this even thoguh it's the same site they are on already and I'm using an SSL cert for all files and I'm also using a direct link to generate the PDF.
    I know the user can just click the options and make the problem go away but many users seem unable to read and or panic when they see the alert.
    Is there a security setting or trust setting I can add or set in my form so that I will not get this security alert??

    No, apart from creating a certified document, but the user would still have to add you as a trusted source. If a document could override this, it would be rather pointless to have it in the first place.

  • Can I convert a purchased epub doc to pdf form for commenting?

    I bought a book with the purpose of commenting/highlighting on a large-screen PC rather than a tablet.  The sample it allowed me to download was in PDF form, & allowed me to highlight & comment, so I went ahead & bought it.
    However, the purchased product is in ePub format, and does not allow commenting & highlighting.  Is there a way I can convert from ePub to PDF so I can achieve my original purpose?  (I doubt I'll get a refund....)

    Try emptying the Temp folder. Are you using PDF Maker (not sure that is available for Publisher) or the MS plugin? If PDF Maker, try turning off the tags and reducing the amount of bookmarks needed to a minimum. As an alternative, simply print to the Adobe PDF printer -- will typically give a smaller file and not run into these creation problems for large document, but you will not get bookmarks or such in the conversion process.

  • How to add "Add Attachments" button to PDF form in Acrobat?

    Hi,
    I am using Adobe Acrobat X Standard for creating a PDF form. I want to add an "Add Attachments" button to my form. Is it possible to do it in Acrobat? If so could someone please help me with the javascript? Also, if possible I would like to check the total attachment size and inform the user if it exceeds, say 10MB. The user will be submitting the form via email so I want to cap the attachment size.
    I found this example, but I don't know how to view the javascript used: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3991644
    Your help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    S.P

    Please keep the conversation in one topic. It's impossible to do what you want with Acrobat so I'm locking this thread - please wait for a response to your question in the LiveCycle forum.

  • Problems with XML import to PDF form esp. checkboxes

    I am posting this here because it was suggested to me to do so when I posted it here:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/5613723
    Hi,
    I work with a certain PDF form created by the US government. They recently "upgraded" the form. (N600K)
    With the old form, I would import values in an XML file, which worked fine.
    With the new form, I have encountered a problem:
    The checkboxes behave as if they are ALL one group of radio buttons, which means only one can be selected at a time.
    There are quite a few questions with checkbox answers. If I or my xml file select any one if them, the rest get cleared.
    I have contacted the US government about this, but surprisingly, they have not responded.
    If you are familiar with designing PDF forms and think you might be able to understand my problem and help fix it, i would love to hear from you!
    Please email me at gidon.ariel @ gmail.com

    Tundra Steve, it sounds like that, that all the checkboxes behave like one
    set of radio buttons. But they aren't. They are separate sets of
    checkboxes, and while some sets could behave like radio buttons
    (male/female, for example), they should really all behave like the
    checkboxes that they are, and allow any and all to be selected.
    Thanks and God Bless,
