Converting protected aac to purchased aac without itunes match

hi everyone.
i want to convert a bunch of protected aac's to purchased aac's without signing up for itunes match. i'm willing to pay the 30 cents per song. i can't figure out how to do this though. previous discussions have included a link, but when i follow that link, i get a message that the itunes store is busy.
i'd be grateful for any assistance. i know that variants of this have been discussed before but they are a few years old and before itunes match.
thanks!

Pam,
That program to upgrade tracks for 30 cents each ran for several years, but was discontinued last year.  That is why the links no longer work.
If you don't want to use the Match approach, you can use iTunes to burn your songs to audio CD.  This will result in an audio CD that can be used just like any other audio CD.

I Can't find newly purchased songs in iTunes Match. Anybody know why?

Hi - you are not alone in this. I've had the same problem, and apparently so have others. I'm also following the discussion:

Did you ever get a fix for this?  I have the same problem.  Ready to quit Apple completely, just tired of the updates making things worse.......

  • How do I convert Protected AAC to Purchased AAC songs?

I have several songs that are Protected AAC files that won't burn to CDs.  I'd like to convert them to Purchased AAC files.  (All of these Protected files were Purchased at some point through iTunes over several years using one iTunes account.)
Not sure if this is relevant info, but I have moved/transferred iTunes libraries from a PC to a MAC.  Currently trying to do convert the files on the MAC in my only iTunes Library.
One thing that is frustrating is that a song shows up in the iTunes/Purchased folder and doesn't have the option to Download it again from the cloud because it's the version currently in my Library.
I have read a couple support articles but they all are too old (2011) to be relevant.  Interesting to note from the articles is that if an Artist subsequent to your purchase took their catalog/song off iTunes, it becomes a Protected AAC file. I think this happened to at least one of the songs I'm having a problem with.  How is that fair??  I paid for use of the song when it was available.
Any thoughts or best practice tips?

My suggestion is to back up the files to a safe location, then remove them from your iTunes Library.  At that point, the option to download the files again from the iTunes store under your purchased content listing should become available.  The new version of the files should be "Purchased AAC" instead of "Protected AAC", as long as they are just music files.  If the files are video content, they may still be protected.  If for some reason you are still unable to download the tracks, I'd contact apple through the "Report a Problem" link on your purchased content listing (you may have to go to the account view rather than the store view for this).

  • Convert "protected music" to unprotected aac?

Is there a way I can convert all my old purchased "protected" iTunes to the non-DRM format? I have a several songs and albums from a few years ago that still show "kind" as protected. I read somewhere that if I upgrade to iTunes Plus that it will then allow me to pay 30cents a song to chage over all the music I bought on iTunes.  I cannot find anywhere in the iTunes Store to do that. All my protected music shows that I am the person who purchased all the music. Can someone please help me with this? Thanks

Thanks for your reply but there in nothing on that page that allows me to pay anything. All that page gives me is a short message at the top of an otherwise blank page that says I have successfully upgraded to iTunes Plus. I still have about 500 "Protected AAC Audio files" still in my iTunes.

  • Cannot Download Purchased Music After iTunes Match Subscription Expired

The other day my iTunes Match subscription expired (making less money and decided to cut out the cost). I expected to not be able to access music I had stored on my computer (which was the only reason I did Match in the first place), but now, even songs I have very recently purchased using my phone are unavailable. I don't typically buy songs while on my computer, preferring instead to just use the iTunes app on my phone to make the purchases on the go. After purchasing them, I did not think they would not actually be downloaded to my phone. Anytime I try to re-download these songs, I receive a pop up notification stating when my iTunes Match subscription expired. Is there a way to get these songs to play on my phone without having to pay for iTunes Match again? I'm pretty unhappy about this because that was not how Match was advertised to function and don't feel we should have to pay a yearly fee just to be able to restore our purchases we made on the actual device.
My phone is a 32 gb 5S running iOS 8.3.

I've been having a problem similar to this. I click download, it charges me for it and then gives me a message saying there was a problem downloading, an unknown error occurred(-50), check the network connection to make sure it is active and try again. No firewall, no web accelator, network working fine for EVERYTHING else. I think this is because the iTunes servers are overloaded. It seems to have started once they put movies, tv shows, video games, etc. on the iTunes store. I would imagine the download time of these new services are much longer and more bandwidth taxing than the music they've been selling. I usually continue to try for the next few days, maybe trying during off hours to avoid the bandwidth traffic jams, and this SEEMS to help. Although, this is all pure speculation, it is what has worked for me. Still makes me consider paying more at Borders just so I CAN own it when I pay for it. Seems if you take my money I should get the product. Kinda sucky.

  • Not matching purchased songs in iTunes match

I purched a sampler of sons from iTunes, but when I signed up for iTunes Match it did not match this sampler album.

    Bob Clark wrote:
    Problems include:
    - over 1000 songs labeled uploaded when they should be matched.
    - often some songs from the same album are matched and others uploaded
    - albums purchased from the itunes store sometimes show some songs matched, some purchased, some ineligible, and some removed, sometimes all for single album.
These are realities of the iTunes Match service. No, that isn't satisfying, I agree. However just because a track is available in the store does not mean that track will "match" to what is in your library. Apple's matching algorithyms are based on a variety of criteria which we have been able to determine include the waveform of the song, file size, song length and probably other things we are not aware of. If a track doesn't meet these criteria it isn't matched.
As to why purchased music might be "matched" instead of "purchased" this is a little easier to answer because it is directly related to what is available in your store purchase history. So if you have an album that has 6 "purchased" tracks and 2 "matched" this generally means the tracks are no longer in your purchase history. Even if that same album is available in the store it may not be the same files you originally purchased. For example I have a copy of The Rolling Stones' Black and Blue in my library that I purchased from the iTunes store. This album is still on the store, but it is no longer in my purchase history because the copyright owner made changes at some point and remove the exact version of the files I originally purchased. So now this album in "matched" in my library and it not available for me to download it again. Again, this is frustrating and not satisfying and I voiced my extreme displeasure to the iTunes Store rep that I was originally working with about this policy but it is what it is and there's not anything I can do about it so I live with it and make sure I have backups.
The hiding/unhiding trick can sometimes work to restore missing tracks to albums in your purchase history but my success rate has been rather low. YMMV.
So, if you are looking at iTunes Match with the expectation that it will "match" 100% of the non-iTunes purchases in your library you will be disappointed. At this time there really is no way for and end-user to force a song to "match."

  • How do I download music I have purchased (currently on iTunes Match) onto my hard drive so I can sync to my iPod

A couple of years ago i uploaded all the music on my hard drive onto iTunes Match.  At that point I synced my iPod classic with the music on my hard drive.
Since then I have purchased lots more music that is now stored in iTunes Match rather than my hard drive.  When i go to sync my iPod clearly its not picking up any new music as its not on my hard drive.
Is is possible do my new music (the stuff I have bought on other devices and is within Ituens match) onto my hard drive so i can udte and sync my iPod?
    Mant thanks

You can copy iTunes purchases from your iPad to your computer's iTunes by connecting the iPad to it and doing File > Devices > Transfer Purchases.
You might also (depending upon what country that you are in) be able to redownload them directly on your computer's iTunes via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage

  • Can I access playlists on my Apple TV via iTunes in the Cloud without iTunes Match?

I'm wanting to know if I can access playlists that I create in iTunes on my PC on my Apple TV through iTunes in the Cloud. Is iTunes Match still required for accessing playlists even though I do not have any music in my iTunes library that has not been purchased from iTunes?

No, as iTunes Match puts your full library in the cloud. Otherwise it is simply just the purchased music. The playlists reside in your local library.

  • How can I delete unwanted albums from my iCloud without iTunes Match?!

Hello, can someone please tell me how I can get rid of old unwanted albums in my iCloud without using iTunes Match? I don't have the actual files of these albums anymore, so the only place where they currently exist is in my iCloud. I have tried to access them via my iMac and iPad but unfortunately I can't access those files in the sense of deleting them for good.
    Any suggestions welcomed.
    Thanks

You can't permanently delete them, but you could hide them so that they don't show in the cloud for redownloading : iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases

  • Quickly add music without iTunes Match

Ok. I have iTunes Match working perfectly and I love it, except for one thing.
I import a large music file... it's a 1-hour megamix (about 60mb) and I want to immediately get it on my iPhone and head out the door for a workout.
But I have to wait til iTunes uploads the file to iCloud which can take over 15minutes. Then I've got to download it on my iPhone from the cloud.
Is there way I can bypass this and simply drag and drop my music onto my iPhone?
    Thanks in advance.

Not at this time. With iTunes Match enabled direct syncing via USB or Wi Fi is disabled.

  • Not Possible to Purchase Songs without iTunes Application, right?

    Hi, Everyone,
I was just wondering if it were at all possible to purchase songs via an Internet browser, and then download them at a later time using the iTunes application.
I currently do not have my own Internet connection as I am out of town for a couple weeks, but would like to get new music. The only places I can find in this town that has Internet connection are some small cafes with free wireless Internet. However, the connections are problematic; in this case, it takes a long time (between 15 and 20 minutes) to search for one song, add it to the Shopping Cart, then buy it successfully. However, I can download songs very quickly. I am currently on a wired connection (not my laptop), and this connection is fine, so I was hoping I could purchase songs and then just download them using my laptop on a wireless connection.
    Thank you,
    Victor Ly

why would you want to risk your account info on a connection at a cafe somewhere on the street? and why would you wanna buy the songs now and download them later? ....... the songs are always there, they are not going anywhere. you can still buy and download them when you think the conenction is safe and fast.... also, you can not buy songs from IE and download them from itunes, you have to buy them from itunes in order to download them in itunes ............ you can still buy songs many places on the internet from IE, but you can not download them in itunes .... they are seperate.
you can import songs into itunes tho ... if you already have them on your computer, yes you can use the add files to library in itunes.

  • How do I get update iphone apps update without itunes match?

I'm not a Luddite but ... Don't want Cloud, too many problems, and don't want to update to iTunes 10.7 if match is included. So the question becomes how do I get updates for my apps without the new iTunes store agreement. I feel as though I'm dealing with Micro-you-know-who and having a bunch of garbage shoved down my throat. And looking through all the questions about software not working properly... I've been there before. What is going on with Apple? Makes me really nervous.
    Help, please .............

Match is optional (in fact you have to pay extra for it) - so carry on as before.
iCloud is separate from iTunes and is used for syncing - it's generally recommended you use a separate Apple Id for the stores(s) and iCloud anyway - that way the family can share music & apps but sync individually.
