Converting purchased music to ringtone

Every time l try to convert a purchased song from itunes to ringtone l get a error code of 11556 stating itunes could not connect to itunes store, please make sure your network connection is active. My connection is active so l am confused as to what the error code is, anyone know.

The only way to convert the protected AAC files of your purchases is to burn them to an audio CD, use the audio CD to re-rip into iTunes in the format you need. Welcome to discussions!

  • Playing and/or converting purchased music from iTunes Store (in Windows).

I just purchased some music from the iTunes Store and now it's telling me it's protected and it won't play in anything other than iTunes. If I bought the music, shouldn't I be able to do with it what I will? I need to use it for a DVD I'm making with Windows Movie Maker and it won't allow me. HELP!

Tracks purchased from any legal download store carrying major-label content, including the iTunes Music Store, are copy-protected and so cannot be directly converted to any other format. You can, however, burn the tracks purchased from the iTunes Music Store out to an audio CD, at which point it will act just like any other normal audio CD.

  • I JUST GOT AN IPHONE AND I AM TRYING TO CONVERT MY MUSIC INTO RINGTONES. I GOT ONE OF THE APPS THAT DOE THIS AND HAVE MADE RINGTONE.  HOWEVER I CANNOT GET THE RINGTONE ON MY IPHONE. I DO NOT HAVE A TONES TAB ON MY IPHONE SCREEN.

I just got an Iphone and I am trying to get my Itunes music as my ringtone. I already got an app and made a ringtone. I even got the tones tab to appear in my Itunes library. I cannot however get a tones tab to appear on my Iphone sync area. Also I cannot get any of my ringtones into the tones folder. They are no longer than 30 seconds so that is not the problem. Any ideas?

Does this app not provide a video on how to sync it with itunes and then sync it to your phone.
If you have transfer the ringtone to your computer, play the ringtone - then it should move to your tones folder in itunes.  Just make sure when you play the ringtone it's plays in itunes.

  • How do I convert purchased music videos and television shows into my Itunes liabrary and sync it onto my ipod?

I recently purchased a music video and a television show episode off of Itunes. It was in my liabrary until I plugged in my Ipod nano 4th generation for it to sync. As my ipod is syncing the music video and tv show episode were'nt in my liabrary and they didn't sync onto my ipod. Yet when I log into my itunes store account the purchsed content is there. How do I get the music video and tv episode into my itunes library and onto my ipod?

My guess (and it is just a guess) is that what you are trying to do is no different than recording a TV programme to a VCR then watching it at a time of your convenience, probably the main reason why people have purchased VCRs, PVRs and the like.
However, with commercially produced DVDs, there is an encryption built in to prevent copying, and it the discussion of how to overcome this encryption that Apple will not permit on their forums.

  • Unable to convert purchased songs to ringtones Error (11556)

Whenever I follow the steps to create a ringtone with songs purchased from itunes store, I get the following error message:
"iTunes could not connect to the iTunes store. An unkniown error occurred (11556).
Make sure your network connection is active and try again"
Yet I can connect to the iTunes store if I want to check my account or buy songs. What can I do to correct this - I am connecting from Australia.

Apple should just come out and tell the truth: even though they advertise you can make ringtones out of your downloads in every regional iPhone page (UK, MX, AU, etc.), this feature isn't available anywhere outside US...
Error 11556 is short for: we haven't solved that copyright issue _just yet_

I have it set on manually manage music and videos. So there is no automatic syncing going on or anything like that. Yes iTunes was open and when i plugged in my phone i could see all the music and everything on my phone, everything was working like it was supposed to, I didn't have a problem until I unplugged the phone.

Is it legal to convert the music files, which I have purchased in recent months, to the mp3 format and burn them on to a CD so that they can be played in non-apple music devices that dont support the M4A format?

Yes, of course it is legal.
To convert the format, follow one of these documents:
iTunes 11 for Windows: Save a copy of a song in a new file format
iTunes 11 for Mac: Save a copy of a song in a new file format
Also note that you have the option of buying your files in MP3 format in the first place, from Amazon MP3 or other online retailers.  MP3 files will work in iTunes as well as virtually every other player, program, and device.

  • Purchased music not able to use as ringtones after restoring to a new iPhone, how do I fix this?

As the title says my purchased music is no longer available to use as ringtone/text tones after restoring to a new iPhone. I restored it from a iPhone 5 to another iPhone 5 after some technical problems, nothing dealing with apps or music. Can anyone help me?

Did you make your own ringtones from your music? If so, you can do it again. This is what I used: http://www.simonblog.com/2012/12/01/itunes-11-how-to-create-free-ringtone-and-te xt-tone/

You have two options: (1) You can use iTunes to burn the tracks onto *audio CD,* which can be used just like any other *audio CD.* (2) You can upgrade the songs to non-DRM "iTunes Plus" versions for 30 cents apiece.
