Converting QT to Tiffs - No Alphas?!?

I'm converting QT's with embedded alphas (Millions+) into Tif image sequences and it works, but it fails to preserve the alpha channel. They are missing in the newly created tifs.
I've searched the Image Sequence settings but don't see any alpha options.
Is this a bug? A limitation? Or am I missing something?
Thanks,
-C

Sorry, but for some reason, I only checked this in QuickTime Pro. I guess I assumed that it was possible in Compressor too.
I see now, that there is no option for choosing Millions of Colors+, when choosing Image sequence in Compressor. Let's give Apple some feedback http://www.apple.com/feedback/compressor.html
Do you have many QuickTime files you need converted to TIFF+Alpha? If not, try using QuickTime Pro until Apple gives us Alpha support in Image sequences, in Compressor too.

Is there any way to convert PDF document in to Tiff format with inbuilt IBR features?
In our Webcenter Portal app, we create the PDF document with the content of ADF pages and check it in UCM using RIDC api.
There will some batch job which will retrieve the documents from UCM and send them to client internal Document management system. The client / batch job will only process TIFF files. So we need a way to convert the PDF into TIFF. We are okie to have both PDF and TIFF stored in UCM.
When i have done research, i could only see components like PDFexport or TIFFConverter which only converts the other formats into PDF. But i am expecting a reverse conversion. Is it possible ? ThanksYa actually I got a tool that could [convert pdf | http://www.allbestapp.com/products/pdf-converter.html] to other formats, including jpg and tiff. that may fit your need.
You could take a shot through the link above.

  • Convert 16 bit tiff?

I am trying to recover disk space and have been using the DNG Converter to save 10-20 percent on my Canon cr2 files
I also have over 256 Gigs of 16 bit tiff files that I have outputted over the years from the HDR program Photomatix Pro,
When I originally saved them I saved them at a bit depth of 16 so I would have more to work with for the final editing.
So, on average the tiff  files are each about 100 megs, I am guessing that as a DNG , it would shrink that by about 75%
DNG converter doesnt like the 16 bit tiffs and skips them.
Is there another piece of software that can convert 16 bit tiffs to DNG
    OR
Is there another piece of software that can batch convert 16 bit tiffs to 8 bit so I can dump  then them into the DNG converter without having to do each file one by one.
    Thanks
    Todd McIntosh

I have not used it before to convert 8-bit Tiffs.
I am only assuming it does so, because the program pulls the tiff files into the cue when you have them in the folder you are converting.
When the program goes to convert them (16 bit tiffs) it gives me a status of ...
"there was an error parsing the file"
Perhaps I am incorrect in assuming the results would be different with an 8 bit Tiff.
    Hmmmm,
    Todd

  • When I shoot in "raw" mode my files are in the 12 to 15 MB range.  If I convert the file to "Tiff" the file converts to about 35MB.  When I convert to a "tiff", does this mean I can make larger prints?

No, that only means, that your raw format has a better compression. Converting to TIFF will not add any better resolution. Not the file size does count for better prints, but the pixel size - the width and height of the photo in pixels.

  • Using Aperture to batch convert images from tiff to jpeg

    Hi there
My first question - here goes:
I wish to batch convert several thousand tiffs (of various sizes) to a standardised jpeg (A4 @ 300dpi). I'm looking for software to automate this process as much as possible; ideally, it would search designated folders and place the new jpegs in a (matching) new folder structure.
Would Aperture be suitable for this, or should I consider Adobe Lightroom (or other)?
    Many thanks
    BR

    No filters.
Solution I used was to create new project. Copy images to it. Delete old project.
Aperture would not let me copy images from old albums to old project.

  • Importing/converting jpgs as tiffs

Is there any way to import or convert jpg photos to tiffs, while retaining the original EXIF data (on the new tiff) without having to export everything and then import it again?

There's no way to convert anything in Aperture without exporting.
If you import and process and/or edit a photo all that happens is that Aperture records your choices in the database. There is no "modified" file. When you view the image in Aperture it's the original file with the entries from the database applied over it live. The only way to produce another file is to export it. At export you can choose what version to export, and what metadata to write to it.
There are lots off apps out there that will convert jpegs to tiff - Preview for a start. Or check out Graphic Coverter

  • Getting 'Out of memory' error while opening the file. I have tried several versions of Adobe 7.0,9.0,X1. It is creating issue to convert PDF into TIFF. Please provide the solution ASAP

    Hello All,
I am getting 'Out of memory' error while opening the file. I have tried several versions of Adobe 7.0,9.0,X1.
Also, it is creating issue to convert PDF into TIFF. Please provide the solution ASAP.

I am using Adobe reader XI. When i open PDF it gives "OUT of memory" error after scrolling PDF gives another alert "Insufficient data for an image". after clicking both alerts it loads full data of PDF. It is not happening with all PDFs. couple of PDFs are facing this issue. Because of this error my software is not able to print these PDFS into TIFF. My OS in window7*64. I tried it on win2012R2 and XP. Same issue is generating there.
It has become critical issue for my production.

  • Convert image into TIFF 4

I have a requirement to convert images from TIFF 6 to TIFF 4. I have been able to convert to TIFF without compression. However, to reduce the file sizes I need to implement compression_group4. Although it is listed as being supported . . . it does not appear to be.
    Any ideas?

    (1) Are you using compression? I can create TIFFs but not compress them using .COMPRESSION_GROUP4
    (2) When I try and use JAI's ImageCodec (specifically TIFFEncodeParam) and specify COMPRESSION_GROUP4 I get a run-time error: "java.lang.Error: Unsupported compression scheme specified."
    (3) This error seems to be generated by the line .setCompression, as I have been able to generate the error without specifying an image. (ie: it's not related to this image not being supported)
    (A) Here is the code I'm using:
OutputStream os = new FileOutputStream(destinationFile); //where destinationFile is a File object representing the saved file
    TIFFEncodeParam param = new TIFFEncodeParam();
    param.setCompression(TIFFEncodeParam.COMPRESSION_GROUP4);
    ImageEncoder enc = ImageCodec.createImageEncoder("TIFF", os, param);
    enc.encode(src); //where src is a RenderedImage Object
    os.close();
    any ideas?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Please, how do I convert an automatically ',tiff' file (From using GRAB to save a picture!) - to a .jpg file?

When I use Grab on my iMac (OSX 10.6.8) the picture put on my desktop is in ".tiff"!
How do I covert it instead to .jpg - (for sending as email attachments?) PLEASE?

Preview will convert it. Right-click, open with Preview (if it doesn't automatically launch) then save as jpeg.

  • Convert binary data (TIFF image) into XML - how ?

    Hi,
    I have the following requirement:
    1. A document is scanned and a TIFF image is saved in a directory
    2. The File adapter picks up the image file and sends into XI
    3. The binary data is converted into XML so a Web Service can be called (this web service will store the image in a database application)
<b>The part I am struggling with is the convert of the incoming binary data into a XML format document which will allow the Web Service to be called.</b>
Graphical mapping cannot be used therefore I am left with 3 options:
    1. XSLT mapping
    2. Java mapping
    3. ABAP mapping
Can anyone suggest the best option to use in these circumstances and provide some sample snippet of code on how to do it.
I am alright at XSLT mapping but this is beyond me and Java mapping is completely new to me as I have very limited Java knowledge.
    Thanks for your help

  • How To Convert Multi Page Tiff Image Through open office in application

I will Appreciate Any Effort Or Reply Which Can Tell Me , To convert a multi-page tiff image in pdf format in application i.e not on desktop using simple open -office but through coding. I doubt if there Exists Ny Plugin Or Separate Library Which Can Do Tht.  Code Or Library inJava Language will Be Preferable

Your question does not make any sense. First, PDF does not support multi-page TIFFs. DO you have a PDF that you are trying to convert to WORD or what. It is unclear of what you are starting with and what your end goal is. If you are dealing with coding, you may need to check the SDK forum, but trying to understand what you are trying to do would be a good idea first.

  • Convert Jpeg to Tiff

I have tons of Jpeg I need to import to Lightroom. How can I set it to convert the images to Tiff while importing.
Thank you for your help in advance.

You may want to read up on how LR works.  LR stores your originals (in your case the JPEGs).  Unlike Photoshop, it does not make any changes to your originals but stores the details of the changes in the catalog.  When you need to work on an image in an outside program or send it someplace then you export the image and the changes are applied at that time to the exported image.  The original remains untouched.  It is at that time that you can choose to export as a TIFF.  Otherwise you don't need it.  Your original image is all that you need and the quality is not affected no matter how many times you change it.

  • Converting JPG to TIFF

I have a high resolution (300 dpi) JPG image, but my printer wants me to supply him with TIFF images. If I saved this high-res JPG image as a TIFF would that be sufficient to convert it, or is there something else I have to do??
Many thanks if you can advise.

Thanks John, I'll do that. I thought that was how to do it, but just wanted to check to see if there were any "hidden" tricks or whatever that I didn't know about...
    Appreciate your advice.

  • Converting raw to tiff brings a lose of quality

actually i have converted a canon raw to tiff image using ligthroom 2.6, the matter is... why once converted in tiff highlights, moving exposition ability and more are so capped?
i have converted a raw to tiff 16 bit uncompressed with pro photo rgb... this means that i should preserve all color tone of the image and i would be able to make the same adjoustments that i use normally with raw files...
this in theory... cause if i try to step down the exposure i see whites going to greens and stuff like a damn jpg srgb 8 bit for channel...
    what's going wrong in it?

    Rubberick wrote:
ok, but why loss of data...
canon say me i have a 14bit a/d converter for channel...
tiff 16 bit uncompressed with prophoto should contain all data included on a raw file...
    am i wrong in something?
    Rubberick,
When you convert to TIFF in LR you are 'burning-in' the current settings. That is what is shown as white is converted to white and what is shown as black is converted to black; any higher or lower values (off the edges of the histogram) from the raw file are truncated (thrown away) then the values between the black and white points have any tone curves or tonal adjustments set in LR applied and the gamma curve of ProPhoto applied to calculate the values to be used in the TIFF. Note that the original raw file values are in linear space whereas ProPhot is gamma 2.2 encoded, this means that more bits are required to accurately encode the original data, for a 14 bit linear file (16384 levels) you require a 16 bit 2.2 gamma encoded file to accurately represent all the levels, if you have not already thrown some away (a 14 bit 2.2 gamma encoded file would only be able to represent 11752 of the levels with the losses worse in the brighter parts of the image, an 8 bit JPEG can only represent 254 of the levels). [1]
The reason for strange colour casts when trying to reprocess the highlights is that my reference to black and white above oversimplifies the situation; actually what happens is that you are truncating each of the red, green and blue channels (usually by different amounts) when creating the TIFF. When you then try to change the colour balance or recover highlights or shadows LR does not have the data you have thrown away and thus makes a poor guess at the correct colour. You tend to only see this in the highlights although it can also happen in the shadows, however it is difficult to see small colour changes in very dark tones and you are generally losing much less data in the shadows when converting to TIFF.
Using a 16 bit TIFF compared to an 8 bit JPEG allows better representation of the data that has not been truncated so changes within the white and black limits will cause less degradation, however any attempt at highlight recovery or significant white balance changes will be bad for both. You are much better keeping the raw format (or converting to DNG which retains all the raw image data) until you need to print, export for screen use or export to Photoshop for further changes. For photoshop you may still be able to maintain the raw data by use of smart objects.
