  • Having trouble converting quick time to mpeg4

i have a bunch of music videos that are in quick time format that i would like to put on my ipod, but when i try and "convert selection for ipod" it gives me a message that i cant be converted because the file does not allow converting or saving... is there some way i can work around this or am i just not going to get to watch my videos on my ipod?

On my ibook, I just add the quicktime video to itunes, then select it and go to the edit toolbar on top (I think it is the edit toolbar, check them all) and click "convert selection for iPod". Whenever i have done this for a quicktime video the audio and video both work great and it goes onto my ipod just fine.
    Hope this Helps!

  • Converting quick time into windows movie maker

I wanted to create a basic slideshow in windows movie maker that includes video clips too. I've done this before. However, I have a video clip that was taken on my digital camera and downloaded into the computer. It is a quick time file. I am not able to import this into windows movie maker. Is there a way I can convert this? Or export it out onto my video camera thru firewire? I don't want to spend money on Quick Time Pro 7.

iDVD is the app, that comes "free" with any Mac, to author, encode and burn videoDVDs....
I'm pretty sure, your digicam came with some software, which allows the download to a Windows machine... read the manual.....
or, you ask in some Movie Maker forum?
such .mov files would be imported flawless on a Mac, but Windows?... very little support here...

  • Converting Quick Time Movie to MP3 in iTunes

In iTunes version 4.9 Quick Time Movies converted to MP3 files without loss of audio quality. After upgrading to iTunes 5.0.1 and Quick Time 7.0.2 the conversion results in a great deal of static. Can anyone suggest a fix?

    Hi affilgraph,
Yes, it can be done. First, go to iTunes preferences, choose "Advanced", click on the "Import" Tab and select "MP3 encoder" next to "Import Using". Close the window. Now select the files in questions, go to the "Advanced" menu and choose "Convert selection to MP3". However, if your files are already encoded to AAC this will not decrease the size of your library significantly AND you will lose sound quality. In addition, converting your library in one go might bring your computer to its knees risking data loss. So, I would recommend buying a bigger HD instead.

When I try to export my timeline in WMV, it converts the first part and the balances of the movies goes missing. has anybody experience this?
I'll like to hear from you
    Thanks

Only those who have downloaded and are trying to export using the flip4mac trial version. If you want to see the 'rest of the story', pony up the cash for a full version.

  • I am having problems exporting my time lapses from quick time pro i need to save my files as photo jpegs but the standard video compression window will not open fully,

i am having problems exporting my time lapses from quick time pro i need to save my files as photo jpegs but the standard video compression window will not open fully, it just keeps my mac (old 1.6Ghz 2.5 GB sdram G5 still good for most stuff i need) spinning for ever but i can see compression type H.264 selected and the other setting but i can not select any other options as it still thinking but never opens! why is this happening how do i get round it?
my work flow is: 300 images shot on a 5d mark II medium jpegs opened in Light Room cropped to 16:9 then exported and opened in quick time i can save a .mov H264 giving me files sizes of 14 mb for a 16 second time lapse, mp4 9 mb. the only way i can get large files is saving as a self contained movie then i get 300mb files.
i need to save my files 1920 x 1080 photo jpeg codec as i want HD quality.
i am sure there is a simple way round this?
    thanks guys!

It is very difficult to offer troubleshooting suggestions when the "os version" you are using is unknown as each os has their own troubleshooting solutions.

  • How can i convert a quick time movie file to a cd that will play in a car stereo?

how can i convert a quick time movie file to a cd that will play in a car stereo?

In quicktime, I would try File -> Export -> Audio. It will create an audio file. Then drop it onto your playlist into  iTunes. Burn the list from itunes with File -> Burn to disk    and then select Audio CD.
If you have Quicktime  7 it should be easier and export to AIFF directly

  • How do I convert .m4v to Apple Quick-Time 5, 6, and 7 (.mov, .qt)

how do I convert .m4v to Apple Quick-Time 5, 6, and 7 (.mov, .qt)??  Thanks!

I once had a problem with a media player not handling .m4v files correctly. Simply changing the extension to .mov fixed the problem. Just delete the "4" and replace it with an "o". Ignore the warning that may appear regarding changing the file type - in fact it's preferable that you make a copy of the .m4v file beforehand.
There's no guarantee that this will help with your particular issue, but worth a try!

  • Quick Time 7 - converting avi file to iTunes

    Hi
I purchased a copy of Quick Time 7 (version 7.6.6) in order to convert some avi video files I have to m4v so i can see them on Apple TV.
The QT7 seemed to work and convert files ok.  Last week when i converted my Christmas video the picture came through OK, but the audio was all wrong and had a rythmic rasping thud overlaid on the sound which sounds a bit like a metallic drum beat  The avi file plays normally in Quick Time and the sound is fine, so I am assuming there is a problem with the conversion process.
i have never had issues before so wondering what has gone wrong.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks
    Caroline

But I've just realized that the .avi file doesn't play with sound in QuickTime, even though it does with VLC. Any ideas about this?
Install Perian on the computer. If it doesn't play sound in QuickTime, any export of it done through QuickTime won't include sound.

  • How to convert a Final Cut Pro Movie File to uncompressed Quick Time

I have to send the highest quality file of my 20 sec sequence. It was edited from a converted file.
    The settings are:
Vid Rte: 25fps, Frame Size 1024x576, Compressor DV-PAL, Pixel Aspect Square.
    Audio: 48.0 KHz, 16-bit Integer
I exported the sequence: the FCP Movie File is 72.3MB. How to make a Quick Time without reducing it further through the Compressor?

See your other thread Ruth ... what you have created here is some kind of Frankenstein format that exists only in your laboratory.
By the way, an "FCP Movie" as you call it IS a QuickTime movie.

  • Imovie trailer bereitstellen/(converting to quick time)  problem

I have made a movie of 55 minutes and then a trailer that I converted to a film. When I try to convert it to a file for quick time, the file seems to be created but it not stored where I asked it to be stored, nor can I find it on spotlight.

Final Cut Express>System Settings. How did you transfer stuff to the new computer? What did you transfer? Applications? You can't do that with pro apps. You have to install from the disc.

  • Quick Time Pro - converting movie formats

I am having a frustrating time with Quick Time Pro ... its most likely me, but I do need help.
I just purchased Quick Time Pro for the purpose of taking some previous movies (in the AVI format) that I have burned to a DVD ... and ... convert them to the mov file extension so that I can put them into itune movie library and play them on my new Apple TV.
After a long time with technical support, I finally got Quick Time Pro installed, but now I can not open up the movie ... with Quick Time Pro.
I thought it would be as easy as 1) selecting the movie and 2) and then "Save as" to another format.
I am totally lost right now. I do need help.

I am totally lost right now. I do need help.
To begin with, AVI is a file format--not a compression format. It simply signifies that the audio and video compressed data is spatially interleaved for synchronization purposes and thus prevent one form of data from "overrunning" the other. It is an old file container for which its originator, Microsoft, officially dropped support more than a decade ago in favor of new, more modern file containers.
In order to convert the AVI file, you must first ensure that your system's QT component configuration supports the compression formats contained in the audio and/or video tracks. This may or may not be obvious. If the files open and play in the QT 7 Player, then they are likely edit/conversion compatible with QT 7 Pro. However, if the files simply load in the player but do not play or will not open in the player, then one or more tracks are not supported by your QT components.
Since the AVI is somewhat outmoded, the data contained may or may not be supported by your Leopard OS. Some older compression formats have never been transcoded for Mac us and those that have may never have been transcoded for OS X. The normal thing to do here would be to determine what specific codecs were used to crete the file and then install them if they are available. However, many inexperienced users simply install the Perian component package and hope for the best as this component package includes support for most AVI codecs that have survived the transition to OS X use.
I thought it would be as easy as 1) selecting the movie and 2) and then "Save as" to another format.
Again you are somewhat mistaken. While the "Save As..." QT 7 Pro option will place the audio and video data in an MOV container that will likley import and play in iTunes, it does not ensure the resulting file will be TV compatible since the TV device player only supports a limited number of audio and video compression formats. For instance, a DivX/MP3 AVI data can be moved to an MOV file container which will import and play in iTunes if support by either Perian or DivX codecs (but not normally both at the same time), it cannot be played on an TV device. In such cases, you will need to "convert" the source content to TV compatible compression formats. The most commonly used TV compression format here would be H.264/AAC (with or without chapter, alternate audio, and/or AC3 audio tracks). Once properly supported by the proper components, the DivX/MP3 AVI example above could be either opened directly in the QT 7 Pro player and converted to the TV preset or saved to an MOV file container which cold then be imported by iTunes and converted by iTunes for use on the TV device. (This latter option does not require QT 7 Pro be keyed.)
    ADDED:
To clarify what QTKirk said, data burned to DVD for playback on commercial DVD players would normally be converted to "muxed" MPEG2/AC3 or MPEG2/PCM (VOB) content. However, AVI files can also be burned as "data" files in their original AVI file format. You need to look at the files contained on the DVD to know for sure and select the appropriate workflow as needed.
