Converting quicktime audio to MP3

Hello,
I just recorded the Amazing Race theme from a site on the internet onto Quicktime Pro with the audio recorder.
I now want to put it in my iTunes library so I can play it on my iPod.
I am totally drawing a blank on what I need to do to make this happen. I am sure it is some simple step that just isn't coming to mind right now.
Any suggestion would be much appreciated !!
Thanks,
Kallum

You have many options depending on what application you have and use.
If you have Amadeus, you can convert your MOV clip directly into MP3. Since you have the Pro upgrade for your QT, another way of conversion is first to export your audio clip to AIFF with QT and then take it to VLC from VideoLAN.

  • Converting analog audio to MP3/WAV using Garageband

I'd like to use Garageband to convert analog audio (reel-to-reel, cassette, LP) to MP3/Wav formats. What kind of audio capture device do I need for the iMac in order to do this and where are they available?
I have a new iMac running Snow Leopard (MAC OS X 10.6.3); been using PCs for decades, but new to the Mac.
    Thanks.

for a cassette or open reel, the line-OUT is fine, for a turntable you need the RIAA curve of a dedicated Phono input.

  • Converting Quicktime Movie to MP3

I know this question must have been asked a million times on this forum, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. I'm looking to take a live concert I have in Quicktime, and make an mp3 for iTunes. Any takers on this one?

Quicktime doesn't make mp3 files in the default installation. If you have Quicktime Pro you can extract and export the sound track to Aiff or Wave and then use the Advanced menu of iTunes to convert that to mp3.

  • Converting analog audio to mp3 with a DV camera

Has anyone used a video camera to convert analog to digital music? I assume it's possible but probably spits out a DV video file which then would require extracting the audio in iMovie. Anybody have recommendations on doing that?

Erm... don't bother. Your computer has an analog line input and some free software called Audacity will let you record and edit what comes in...

  • How do I convert a quicktime podcast to mp3?

    Hi,
I am trying to download podcasts in quicktime format and convert to mp3 but it seems that quicktime downloads only a link to a file on a server so that the conversion program (I have tried several - see email below from one vendor) is unable to open it. Any clues?

    Hello,
    Thanks for your e-mail.
I do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you!
The MOV is not a realy tvideo file, the file size of it is only 1kb. The MOV
file in turn links to a mov file on a server that points to a quicktime
    audio/video streaming file.
If you have any question, please contact [email protected] We will try to
help you as quickly as possible.

Thanks so much, I sometimes forget the network is the computer! Your email prompted me to google "capture streaming video" which led me to:
    http://emoney.al.ru/capture-streaming-video-and-audio/
So I downloaded HiDownload 6.x Pro to create a local file on my hard disk, then used a simple video to audio converter from http://www.aone-video.com/video2audio.htm to create an mp3.
So now I can listen to podcasts on my commute!
    Thanks again.

  • How do you change a music file from quicktime to a mp3 audio file

i dont know how to change my current music file from quicktime to a mp3 audio file, how do you do it?
If you are using a "basic" Mac OS X v10.8.4 install/codec configuration then you can use iTunes to convert to MP3 audio. It has a built in MP3 encoder which you can set up as your default audio import/conversion compression format. Otherwise it depends on how you system's codec components are configured and/or what media applications you have installed.

  • It's 2013 and I want to convert AIFF audio files to MP3s

It’s 2013 and I want to convert .AIFF audio files to .MP3 files on my Mac.
I created some sound files as .MOVs for a band’s website but that format doesn’t work for some Windows OS users who refuse to fetch a QuickTime plugin for their Explorer or Firefox internet browser…("don’t make them think; it either works or it doesn’t.")
I have been told that MP3 audio files are still the most common audio files on the web and I want the band’s music to be in the most-accessible format.
    Thanks,
    Ron
Also, this is my first Apple Support question and I would appreciate being pointed to the most appropriate forum(s).

Thanks, Joe, that was very useful!
For other people with my problem I should add some of the missing puzzle pieces —
    1) A while ago I loaded the songs from the band’s CD onto a previous, now dead, Mac laptop (with a previous Mac OS) and used QuickTime 7 to create down-sampled (and smaller) .mov files. Then I deleted the original .aif files from that computer.
    2) Now (back to the present) I wanted the .aif audio files on my new computer to convert them, but the computer doesn’t have a CD/DVD drive. My solution was to use my partner’s iMac.
    3) I inserted the CD into the iMac’s drive, clicked "no" to iTunes’ dialog asking if I wanted to import them, created a folder on the desktop, then opened the CD folder on the desktop and copied the songs into the newly-created folder.
    4) I copied the new .aif files to a thumbdrive then deleted the .aifs from the iMac.
    5) I put the copied thumbdrive .aif songs onto my MacBook Pro Retina (where I had changed iTunes Preferences to MP3) then I 'dropped' the sound file icons onto the iTunes icon in the dock.
    5) In iTunes I right-clicked on the songs and chose "Create MP3 Version".
    6) Next, I right-clicked on the MP3s in iTunes and chose "Show in Finder". This opened another folder (~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music/Unknown Artist/Unknown Album/), revealing the MP3s.
    7) I created duplicates of the MP3s and moved them to my band's media folder (and will put them on the website after renaming them and editing their webpage for the new audio filenames).
    8) Finally, I will delete the .aif and .mp3 songs from my iTunes, using iTunes' interface to ensure it doesn’t get confused.
Sheesh. but I’m still happy to not have a CD/DVD drive on my MacBook Pro. I very rarely use CDs and a drive on the laptop would add bulk and weight while being mostly useless.

  • How do I convert an audio CD format album in my library into MP3

Here's my problem. I have two vehicles. The older vehicle only plays audio CDs and the newer vehicle will play MP3 songs. So I want to burn two CDs, an audio and an MP3.
I imported my original CDs into iTunes and kept them in the original format, not as MP3. I then burned an audio CD and it plays correctly. Now I want to burn an MP3 CD but got an error that iTunes cannot burn the MP3 CD as the original songs are not in MP3 format. I don't know how to convert these songs to MP3 and in all the help info I have read there is nothing about this.
I really don't want to delete these songs from the library and re-import them as MP3. that's a lot of music and time.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks, George

You can use iTunes to convert the songs from your CDs to another format. When you convert a song in iTunes it will be converted to the format that you have set to import your CDs in. Converting creates a second copy of the song in the format you have chosen which gives you the opportunity to either keep or delete the original. You can get details on these pages:
How to convert a song to a different format

Can i convert AIFF audio file into an MP3 file please? I will be doing this on an imac 2008 model. thank you for help!

Since this is the Logic forum and you may be working in Logic, you dont even need iTunes. To convert Aiff to MP3:
    1 - Go to the Bin>Audio Files
2 - Select the Audio File you want to convert ( and not a region or edit of it)
3 - Go to Audio File next to the Link icon ( Audio - Edit - View ) and down the menu to Copy/Convert.. gives lots of options

  • Software to convert Cd audio + WAV to MP3

I have problems with MP3 files import in Director, what

    Hi Heeli.
To convert CD Audio to WAV/MP3 search 'cd audio ripper' in
Google. First one that came up when I searched now is
Audiograbber which I've used and is quite good.
You can also sear WAV to MP3 to convert. Since Director is
now part of Adobe, I'll mention Adobe Audition (Windows Only)
which can do this. It's a powerful audio editing program that
can work with WAVs and MP3s. It's much more than just a
    converter.
If you have WAV files, you may try convert them to SWA in
Director. Xtras menu - Convert WAV to SWA (Windows only).

  • Converting the Audio portion of the Media into a MP3

I would like to be able to copy the audio portion of about 1 - 2 hrs. of media and convert it into a MP3.
Is there a simple way to do it using Premiere Elements 12? or in combination with Audacity?

You can just have the gray tabs spanning one segment at a time. So I am not seeing series of bracket couplets in this.
You could do one at a time and then bring all the .mp3 exports back into another project to put them together for another export.
Would the "series of bracket couplets" be non continuous segments through the whole original audio file?
    But, how about this idea.
Given you have a whole audio file, and you want only a some segments (non continuous) to go into the same one file.
    1. Import your audio into the project into Expert workspace Project Assets. Do not drag it to the Timeline.
    2. Instead, double click the audio file to open the Preview Window with its Set In and Set Out points.
    3. Then in the Preview Windows use the Set In Set Out points to trim your audio...Set In Set Out for first, drag that
first trim to Audio 1....Set In Set Out for the next section your want as you go through the audio in the Preview Window and so on.
    4. You will end up with all your trim (representing your selected segments) on Audio 1, side by side. The gray tabs of the Work Area Bar should automatically span the content. But, if not, make sure they are in place to do that.
    5. Then export as before but do not bother with "Share Work Area Bar Only" option in Export.
Please give that a try and see if any of that works for you.
    Thanks.

  • Convert internal audio member from wav to mp3 or swa

    Hi
i have lots of audio files in wav format. they are already appear as cast members. now i need to convert them to mp3 or swa. the audio have cue points.
how can i see the type file of the audio member?
what i should do to convert those members to mp3 oe swa?
should i export wav and then import it as mp3? if so how wxcatly?
those members are wav, cuz in external editor i can see its wav.
the reason i need to compress is that i need to  play it over the internet.
im using director 11.5 in xp.
    please help
    Shay

If you are using cue points, then don't use MP3.  MP3s do not have cue points, so they will be removed.  In older versions of Director, there was an option to convert wav files to swa under the Xtras menu.  For some reason, that was removed from Director 11.  So, if it is a requirement that you use swa, then Have a look for an older version of Director (Dir MX 2004 or earlier) which can do the conversion.
In D11.5, you can use the new audio mixer to convert the files to mp4.  I'm not sure if that will work for you, but it is worth a try.
