Converting raws to bmps

Hi all,
Here is my problem.
I have a jpg(not from camera) grey scale/8bits  I save it out as a Photoshop RAW.  I leave the raw options set at Header=0 and file type PRAW and file creater 8BIM.
I think everything is ok.  I then open a seperate converter program called Contenta RAW Converter. I get error "could not load raw image.
Now the question is.  Is my photoshop RAW file valid? Do I have to enter in a header number or something for my RAW image to be valid?
Since my image is not from a digital camera it doest have a header so I am wondering if I have to add one in order for my RAW image to be valid to be opened in another program?
I want to use this other converter to change my raw into a bitmap.
I dont want to use photoshop as my converter program but thats another story.
thanks

If you want a .BMP, why go through the step of saving it out as a .RAW file?
As ZB pointed out, a Photoshop RAW image is not in the same file format as a camera raw image file from a digital camera. A camera raw image file is in a camera-specific proprietary format that is essentially a “digital negative,” with no filtering, white balance adjustments, or other in-camera processing.

  • Open and converting raw in ps 7

how can i open and convert raw nef images from my 35mm nikon into pdf using ps 7?  Raw is listed under OPEN as a category but i cannot make it happen.

You need to first open the NEF file in Photoshop, and if you are really talking about the very old version 7, there is every chance that will be a problem.  I don't even know if Version 7 supported Camera RAW, but I think it did.  So I am having to guess because of the age of the version you are using, but you will probably need to download the free DNG converter.

I just purchased the new Canon SX60 camera. Despite downloading and installing the latest version of Adobe DNG converter, I receive an error message saying that Photoshop CS4 can't open up/convert raw files (.CR2). This is the same file format as used by the SX50, with which I never had any problem. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to fix this problem? Thanks.

Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras  I do not see that SX60 as supported. Just how new is the SX60 when was it announces. Its support is not even listed in ACR 8.7 RC

  • Need a plugin to convert Raw files with CS 6 standalone version. 8.7.1 version of ACR is not compatible with CS 6 in non-cloud form.

We have a site license for CS6 for our company and for the past year have not been able to convert RAW files from our newer cameras using Adobe Camera Raw. We do not want to use the Cloud version as we work off laptops in the field and overseas and even our offices have only dial-up for internet access where we are located in Monterey.
Can anyone recommend a plugin raw converter so we can continue to batch process our files with CS 6?

The camera raw 8.7.1 plugin should work fine in the photoshop cs6 non cloud license version.
The only exceptions being if you have mac os x 10.6.8 or windows xp/vista, then 8.3 is the newest camera raw plugin that works.
Which operating system(s) do you have?
Have you tried Help>Updates from within photoshop cs6 to get the 8.7.1 camera raw plugin.
Here's an 8.7.1 camera raw plugin installer for photoshop cs6

  • How do I convert raw images with side car to Dng and

How do I convert raw images with side car to Dng and preserve the sidecar info in the DNG?
I have tons of raws + xmp sidecars that i want to convert to dng, because the raws are from different camera brands and i want to get everything simplified. so that i do not have to worry if I will be able to access the raws in the future, if I decide I want to rework some of the files.
    T.I.A.

If the images are already in your catalog you can select them then choose Convert Photos to DNG from the Library menu. You'll be given the option of deleting the original raw files. Either way, Lr will only display the newly created DNG files.
The alternative, which is better suited to images not already in the catalog is to use the Adobe DNG Converter

  • Convert JPG to BMP using XI

    Hi
I would like to transfer the Image file from one Legacy System to SAP R/3 server which then ABAPers can utilize using TCode: <b>SE78</b>.
But here are the constraints -->
*) The Legacy System is providing the Image file in JPEG format <u>Only</u>.
*) SAP R/3 TCode : SE78, can <u>only</u> take the files in BMP format.
*) Even if you simply change the extension of JPEG file to BMP, then SAP R/3 is <u>not accepting</u> that file which suggest it needs typical BMP file only.
    I referred this thread also
Error while uploading *.BMP file using SE78
In this thread user actually resolves his problem after using a tool which explicitly converted a JPG to BMP but they are not using XI.
Now is their any way with which JPG can be converted to BMP. I found couple of tools but they require the file first ( using browse option ) & then they will convert it, mean you can't call them using XI & provide that file as an argument.
I just need to know what you all think, is it possible to convert the JPG to BMP using XI or not. Also are you aware of any Java/.NET which can actually take the Image file ( JPG format ) & convert it & provide it back.

    Hi Lalit,
I've made a quick search and in my opinion the better thing you can do, is to create a Java routine to convert JPG to BMP.
you can use JAI (Java Advanced imaging) to read input stream (JPG format), and convert into a BMP format.
<a href="http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/jai/forDevelopers/jai1_0_1guide.pdf">This PDF</a> contains the JAI documentation and some examples.
    I hope it will help.

  • Converting raw files into tiffs and preserving the orig. date created

How do I get the original date created to show up in folders when converting raw files into tiffs?  Once converted the original date created is in the "file info" window but does not show up as the original date created in the designated folder.  It is displayed as the same date as date modified.

    Thanks Mylenium
As Mylenium has said, this information can be added later by various means. It will also depend on the software you are using on what date it is reading!
    As an example there are:
    The files date created
    Photoshop schema DateCreated
    EXIF schema DateTimeOriginal
    XMP schema CreateDate
For an external tool you can use ExifTool http://www.sno.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/
or you could try to get a script written in the Photoshop or Bridge scripting forums.

  • Batch convert Raw to jpg with EXIF data

I would like to batch convert RAW images files to jpeg format while preserving the EXIF data.  Is there any way to do this with the built-in apps in OS X Mavericks?
This used to be possible with Preview.app using the "Export Selected Images..." command.  However, as of Mavericks, that command does not correctly copy EXIF data for the individual images.  Instead, the EXIF data for the first image is used in all of the exported images. So Preview.app is now pretty much useless for converting batches of RAW files.
Can anyone point me to a workaround in Preview.app, or an alternative way to do this conversion in Mavericks?
I should add that I don't want to import all my images into iPhoto.  I prefer to use regular folders to organize my images rather than the walled library that iPhoto creates.

I used iPhoto for many years and found it to be cumbersome and more trouble than it was worth.  It did not let me manage, organize, rate, tag, and edit my photos in any way approaching convenience.
Hate to say this for the 3rd time, but use Canon's "DPP" (Digital Photo Professional).
With it you can "manage, organize, rate, tag, and edit [your] photos" as well as batch convert to jpeg or othet formats.

  • How do i convert raw to jpeg in aperture

How do I convert raw to jpeg in Aperture 3 ?

I find all this rather strange! I often convert RAW to Jpeg if I want to keep an image for reference but it doesn't merit or require the 8 to 10MB of the RAW file (on my computer, my external drive, or anywhere else). For example, I take photos of artefacts in museums, and I also photograph the labels/legends beside them, for reference. I can keep those solely as quite small Jpegs since I'm never going to want to print them.
(No, I don't want to switch settings on the camera while I do this - I'll only forget to switch back, and then have loads of low-res Jpegs that were meant to be glorious RAW).
In other software I've used, there's a batch convert that makes this very simple. Seems that in Aperture I'm obliged to export and then re-import. Not a big deal, but a slight pain in the arse all the same, and a little odd.
Anyway, thanks to the above posts, I now know how to do the export-import malarkey. I couldn't find it in the manual.
    cheers,
    Helen

how to convert raw files from new fujifilm x-t1 ?

The work around of converting the CR2 to dng either with the dng converter or ACR 6.7 will allow working in LR and CS5 but not with the latest raw conversion engine from Adobe i.e PV 2012.
Remember to keep a copy of the CR2 files if you wish to utilize the Canon software.

  • DNG converter not converting RAW files from Canon 70D.

DNG converter not converting RAW files from Canon 70D (it does not see them). I tried DNG converter version 8.2 and 8.4. No success. I use iMac. What is wrong?

hopefully, that's a typo on adobe's website because they list the canon 70d as using a .cs2 file extension, http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
i don't see any other camera that uses a .cs2 extension and i don't see other people having problems, so that probably is a typo.
in any case, cr 8.2 or better is able to convert your camera's raw files.  why you are having a problem i can't say, but double check that you are navigating to the correct folder by adding a file that will show up in your dng converter.

I'm not one to spend money when it is not necessary.
Try deskUNPDF for Mac as suggested. As I said you can do a few trials per document. You won't know if you don't try. If it is only text then it probably would do fine. However you need to look at the different things you want to convert, try it out and see if it does the job. Warning: The limit in the trial is 4 single and separate pages per document so you may need to divide you document into smaller documents. If it is not doing what you want then maybe Adobe Writer is what you need, particularly if you do a lot of PDF conversions.
As a basic document converter I would certainly use it again. I have to say I have come across a lot of useful freebie info and good software sites in this forum.

  • Convert RAW to jpeg

    Hello,
I'm using Aperture to organize my photos and have been shooting in RAW. I'd say that out of 100 pics, I might take advantage of the RAW format to edit 5 of them. I'm new to photography and during the learning process have taken a lot of pics of, for example, my dog that I really don't need in RAW format but don't want to delete altogether. I intend to continue shooting in RAW, but would like to convert my older pics to JPEG as I've filled up my external hard drive that my library is kept on (I'm using a 2006 core duo macbook). I know the usual advice is "never convert raw to jpeg to save space, just buy a new hard drive," but I really don't need 500+ pics of my dog in RAW format, jpeg will be 100% fine, and don't want to shell out the money for a new hard drive right now (although eventually I will.)
My question is: is there a way to selectively convert my photos or even entire projects from RAW to jpeg and maintain the organization structure? I know I can export to JPEG, but then I have to re-import and re-organize them all, correct? Either way, I then have to go through and delete the RAW versions, right?
    Thanks,
    John

I have a desktop PC with 4 internal drives that I'm backing up my images to over my wireless network on a (somewhat) regular basis, so if/when the external does crash, i've got the images backed up. The problem is that I've only got a 60Gb in the laptop, and a 320Gb external that is partitioned to allot 90Gb for time machine and the rest shared between music and photos, which has filled up pretty quickly. I'm looking into a 1TB external for the future, but I really like my 320 western digital as it is USB powered and really great for on-the-go. Maybe I'll think about a smaller library on the 320 and the permanent library on the 1TB. In the meantime, I need to free up some space on the external one way or another.
    Thanks,
    John
