Converting session/song to 48k from 96k

I am working at home on some tracks that were recorded at 96k in Protools. We consolidated the PT tracks and just imported them into Logic as Waves. for the most part they are working but I did have some issues with songs being damaged and getting all kinds of random error messages that prevented me from even loading that song. It's happened twice so far. This is the first time I've had any problems like this AND it is the first time that i am working at 96k with such large files. What is the simple way to convert the songs and the tracks/files to 48K. Is there a simple way? It's seems like the size of the files may be the culprit. Any other ideas appreciated.
the types of error messages that I have gotten on several of these songs are:
Warning:Project May be damaged
Minor Problem In Data
Score Style Fixed 12
Error: CSong::CreateSeq-Illegal Block Size
then the song will finally open up and no regions or tracks are in the arrange window at all.
thanks for your time,
Jdf

thanks alot. I just followed your instructions on one song. Everything seemed to convert over to 48k just fine. I stayed in the same session/song. I may try starting a new empty template next. It did change all of the files to just the name of the song instead of their individual track names but that is probably because of how I "saved" them.
I'm sure I can get the tracks to a new empty template but what is the easiest or correct way to import a number of tracks into a empty project like you described? As you can see I am more of a songwriter/musician than a Mac operator! thanks again,
jdf

I purchased a new album on the itunes store and itunes will not transfer 3 of the 11 tracks to my iPod.  The error message says it is unable to convert the songs.

Thanks for the update, so maybe iTunes 10.6.1.7, does fix some earlier bugs, although the reported fix, may not have anything to do with you iPod software 2.0.1(dont update it)
if it's working dont fix it.
    What's new in iTunes 10.6.1.7:
    March 29th, 2012
    · Fixes several issues that may cause iTunes to unexpectedly quit while playing videos, changing artwork size in Grid view, and syncing photos to devices.
    · Addresses an issue where some iTunes interface elements are incorrectly described by VoiceOver and WindowEyes.
    · Fixes a problem where iTunes may become unresponsive while syncing iPod nano or iPod shuffle.

purchased a song from iTunes, i tried to transfer it to my itouch, but i received an error "iTunes could not copy because the file could not be converted". how do i convert the song (well, i thought it will automatically be converted)?

    Problem Fixed:
Remove the song from your itunes library, then go to the itunes store and try to download it again. It will say something like "this song has already been purchased, would you like to download it again for free?". Click yes, and it will download again. This worked for me, hope it helped

  • TA26407 Converting my songs from ABR to VBR

Will i lose or gain any quality from converting my songs from aac abr to aac vbr? I'm only changing the abr to vbr, not the bitrate.
I sold 90% of my collection to this store and I can't re-rip my collection.  Most are at 128 kbps AAC VBR, and about 20% is 256 kbps AAC.
Would my best option to just leave everything as is? Thanks!

Open iTunes on your Mac. In "Store" menu, click "Authorize Computer".
I just transferred my entire iTunes library over from my Win XP machine using the "Backup to disc" feature (must have iTunes 7 for that). Pretty simple and straightforward. After I restored the backup discs onto my MacBook, I plugged up my Windows-formatted iPod and chose the option to restore it (basically a format), then it showed up as a Macintosh format in the Summary screen. After that, I just went to the file menu and chose "synch my iPod" and it's transferring all the music as I'm typing this.

  • Converting a song from one sample rate to another

i recently had to convert a song that had been done in 44.1 to 48. that is, all the audio i had recorded or imported and chopped up was at 44.1. what i wanted was to change them all to 48, so that the new recordings that had to be done would be at the new sample rate. obviously i can select copy and convert in the audio editor but it doesn't change the region file referneces in the arrange.
short of actually physically making sure that logic can't the old audio files and thus forcing it to change file reference, i had to change each audio file with sample rate converter maually.
surely there must be a better way. anyone know what it is?

o.k. yes, It's all coming back to me now...
The work around is a little odd, but the way I did this before, was after batch converting the audio files to the new sample rate, I had to literally throw the original audio files into the trash, and then empty the trash. ( Yes, I backed up first, just in case... )
I then opened the Logic song, and a prompt says "X(amount) invalid regions changed." Then Logic begins to create overviews for all the new audio files, and then it's done. The song is playing all the new sample rate converted audio files, where the old ones used to be.
You need to empty the trash though, or Logic goes and finds the original audio file in the trash, and uses them.

  • How to Convert 44.1 to 48k in the timeline

Working on FCP 5 I imported a couple of music cues iat 44.1. Is there a quick and easy way to convert these tracks to 48K without leaving the project? Thanks

IN FCP? Only way is to render. Best to go outside FCP...
#5 Imported music from CD or iTunes
Shane's Stock Answer #5: Importing music from CD or iTunes
To get music into FCP, it needs to be an AIFF file at 48khz, 16 bit stereo. So if you want a song from a CD, you go into the iTunes Preferences, click on ADVANCED and set this up under the IMPORTING tab:
    AIFF
    Sample Rate - 48.000 kHz
    Sample size - 16 bit
    Channels - Stereo
If you have an mp3 that you want to use, then you can convert it thru iTunes as well. As long as this is chosen as your import option, when you select a clip and click on the ADVANCED menu, CONVERT TO AIFF will be an option.
If the piece of music you want to use is something you purchased thru iTunes, I'm afraid I can't help you there. There are copywrite issues that prevent files from being converted into the format that FCP can recognize.

Ok. So my iTunes started acting up a few months ago. ALL of the songs I purchased from the iTunes store stop in the middle of the song and then go back to the begining (I keep it on repeat one song by the way). Please help!!! (Windows 7) I would really like to hear my songs all the way through, but I can't . I tried the "Convert Protected ACC files to Purchased ACC files fix" but it DIDN'T work. I don't know what to do. It does it when I transfer the music onto my Classic too.

What do you mean "doesn't recognize"?

  • How can I get iTunes to convert my songs to MP3's again and not this AAC version. I need them in MP3's for my spicing software.

I use a spicing program that does not support iTunes.  I need to be able to convert my songs to MP3's.  I was able to do that from my old laptop but now that I have a new one and everything is converted to the new one I noticed that the MP3 is not on there it is now AAC.  Does anyone know how to convert to MP3's now?  I am in the same version of iTunes but it is not the same.  ODD and FUSTRATING!!

Change the default encoder to MP3. iTunes will then give you the option to convert any unprotected file in your library to MP3; this won't work with very old iTunes Store purchases.

  • How do I convert AIFF song files in iTunes to ACC files to fit iPod?

How do I convert AIFF song files in iTunes to ACC files to fit iPod? My AIFF files are appartently bigger per song than ACC files. How do I convert an AIFF song or playlist in iTunes to ACC files so they take up less room. Right now I can only fit 50 songs as opposed to 500 songs. The songs are already in iTunes as AIFF files. Most of the songs I inport are original songs from CD's that are already AIFF files. How do I convert them when going into my iPod?
    g-5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   iPod Nano

Thank you so much! I now know how to convert AIFF audio files to ACC files, and I can keep the original AIFF file! One other concern though -- how do I tell which is the bigger AIFF file and which is the new smaller ACC file? iTunes doesn't have an obvious place/window that tells me the audio file size. Is there a way to tell the two apart. It looks like it creates an identical file name, not even a "copy" extension or anything -- so it's impossible to tell them apart. Is there another secret here?

  • Steps to convert a song to mp3

    Hello
I need the steps to convert the songs that I purchased into mp3, I've already burned them into a cd and I will import them, so what I need it is to know what do I do next.
Note: I want to convert my purchased song into an audible cd.
    Thank you!

From the sound of it, you may have simply burned a data CD containing your .m4p files. This is great for backup purposes, but if you want to do anything else with the files, you would first need to burn a playlist containing purchased music to audio CD. To do this, be sure to go to iTunes > Preferences > Advanced, and click the Burning tab. From there, make sure the Disc Format is set to Audio CD (I would also set the Gap Between Songs to "none"). Now, you can burn an audio CD from the playlist containing purchased music.
Once you have your audio CD, you can import it into iTunes any way you like, but if your goal is simply to have an audio CD you can play anywhere, you've already accomplished that.
When you use the word "audible," it makes me wonder if you're talking about an audio book. In this case, you may need to do something else, but I would first need to know if that's what you mean--rather than just a CD that's audible (that you can hear).
If you want to import the contents of your audio CD into iTunes as MP3 files, as implied by the subject line of your post, you would just need to go to iTunes > Preferences > Advanced, click on the Importing tab, and choose MP3 Encoder from the Import Using drop-down list. Note that you can fine-tune your MP3 encoding preferences if you like. Once that's taken care of, you would simply import the CD into iTunes as usual.

  • Songs not transferring from iTunes to iPod puzzle

I update my iPod fairly regularly (mostly for podcasts) and I've noticed recently that a small number of songs aren't being transferred to my iPod when I sync it.
I converted one song that wasn't transferring from an mp3 format to an aac but still no joy. The songs play fine in iTunes and I've tried a manual update in just transferring the one song but that hasn't worked either.
    Any ideas anyone?

The songs that are not appearing on your ipod, are they from artists that you have multiple songs? If so, I believe I might know the problem. There is a bug, and I will explain it the simplest way I know how to.
Let's say that I have 3 songs by Led Zeppelin, "Whole Lotta Love", "Black Dog", and "Moby Dick". Now, if I gave "Black Dog" a album title, and I left the other two blank, on your ipod it will skip the album select screen and go straight to "Black Dog", preventing you from selecting the other two. This will also happen if you have 2 songs (let's say "Whole Lotta Love" and "Moby Dick") labeled with the same album title, while your other songs are unlabeled.
To fix this problem, you must either give another song from the specific artist a different album title from the other labeled ones. Then the ipod will go to the album select screen, and allow you to select "All" which will display all of your labeled and unlabeled songs.
    I hope this helps.

  • How to Convert iTunes Songs (Apple lossless audio file) to a MP3 for E-mail

How to Convert iTunes Songs (Apple lossless audio file) to a MP3 for E-mail?
My computer is Windows 7 and my Itunes software version is 1.0.2
    Many thanks in advance...

iTunes 1.0.2 is +at least+ eight years old.
The current version is 9.2, and it's free.
If that was a typo, and you're using something more current:
In the iTunes preferences, change the import settings to mp3.
Then select the songs you wish to convert.
From the "Advanced" menu, choose "Create mp3 version".
When done, change the import settings back to Apple Lossless.
    That's it.
BTW, this is the Logic Pro forum, which has absolutely nothing to do with iTunes.

    Dear Nay2000,
I have the same problem, my girl-friend saved a bigger Gigabyte library from her old laptop before she sold it, then at some point she realized that she couldn't play many songs that she had transfered. Now, I paid those 30 quid as well, and it doesn't play 99% of the files, that is very frustrating, is there any way you got it revived?

  • Can i convert itunes songs i paid for to play on an mp3 player

Im trying to put songs i purchased from itunes and put them on an mp3 player but its not working. Am i able to convert them back to they can work?

If they are iTunes Plus songs (purchased since 2009) you can convert them to MP3 by following these instructions:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1550
Note that the conversion process will create a new MP3 and leave the original AAC in place, so make sure you are using the new one for your player.
If you have any "protected" iTunes song files, you need to first upgrade them to iTunes Plus, and then do the conversion.
