Converting slide backgrounds within Cap 6?

I am using Captivate 6 in a way that is not what I'd call optimal, but necessary due to the way we're structuring a certain project.  In short, I'm taking multiple smaller Caps (some recorded in earlier versions) and grouping them in one 'master' file.  It's working fine for the most part, but the file sizes are ballooning severely.
These are 1010x659 screen captures for the most part, and Cap 6 is converting each to a 2.6MB / 1.3MB bitmap.  They compress well enough in the output, but working with the raw file becomes very chuggy (as one might expect from half-a-gigabyte-and-climbing files).  I can open a Cap 4 file that's 2MB in Cap 6, Select Unused Items and delete them, and the end result is often a 70MB+ Cap 6 .cptx.
Is there a Cap6 setting I'm missing to convert slide backgrounds from .bmp to another format _within Captivate_? I know about the SWF Size and Quality preferences for the output, but those don't seem to affect the innards of the file.

Word of caution don't install third party "app cleaner" programs as they're known to cause more problems than they fix.
I understand your caution but you are confusing system cleaning junkware  (the likes of the horrendous Clean my Mac) with  an application removal tool.
Junkware are unnecessary software that does nothing to improve system performance, the whole object of such software is to obtain money from unsuspecting users.
The two Application Removal Tools I mentioned are well respected and effective application removal tools, they are not system cleaning junkware.
Dragging an app to the trash to uninstall is sufficient
No it is not, the application must be completely removed fro the Mac, just deleting Keynote from the applications folder does not remove other support files that must be removed for the resetting procedure to work. These support files are not by removed by deleting the application alone.
If not contact AppleCare for a more comprehensive removal of other supporting files.
If you follow my suggested procedure this will properly reset Keynote. From the hundreds of posts in this discussion referencing contacting Apple Care, unfortunately they do not have the skills to advise users on Keynote problems.

  • Slide Effect within a Table

I'm trying to add a simple Spry slide effect to some text on
one of my web sites, however the text dissapears in IE7. I've
managed to cut it down to the most basic code where the problem
occurs and it turns out to be a table cell. I took the slide
example and cut it down until it doesn't work. I'm referencing the
css and js that comes with the spry 1.6 prerelease build. This code
works fine in Firefox. If you remove the table tags, it also works
in IE7. However, with the table tags present, the text doesn't show
up at all in IE7 (although the background color does slide up and
down). I'd like to be able to keep the table tags in my actual site
because it helps to keep the shape of the page. I can't believe
know one else has run into this issue, but I haven't found anything
online. If you have any tips, please let me know. Otherwise,
    consider this a bug report.

I am also having this problem. I've written a custom JSF
component that could technically be used in all sorts of situations
within an HTML page. During the initial component development, the
case of adding the component within a table on IE was never tested.
Only later when some other developer was reusing the component in
another project did the Slide effect within a table in IE issue
crop up. As it's a JSF component, there really isn't a very elegant
way to move the javascript to another location within the HTML page
and a previous poster pointed out. Help!

  • Master slide background color

When I select the master slide on the far left (the slightly bigger one), and I deselect "project background" and change the "stage:" to a different color, nothing happens.  I am trying to use the solid color (paint can) and I put in my choice of Hex color (005983).  When I try the same thing on the individual master slides to the right, I also get nothing.  I even changed the Edit>Preferences>Defaults>Background color to the same color.  And I get nothing.
I can (and have) put other things (logo, color bar) on the Master slide, and it propigates to the right on the other slides.  What am I missing?

There are objects on the main master slide, they are not merged into the background. Yes, you can set the stage color for a normal slide as well:
What do you really want to achieve with selecting a blue color for the main master slide? It will not show up because you have objects on that slide that cover the stage color.
I know, documentation is not very helpful. I have been writing a lot about Captivate to provide some clues, but not about master slides. It is a lot of work to write out documentation and I'm offering everything for free. Same with answers here, where Rod and Rick are also spending many hours trying to provide answers.
Depending on the theme you started with, there can be a project background. You used the white theme. That background will always show up on the main master slide, even when you uncheck Project background. If you want not to see that Project background on a normal slide, but a full blue color, you have to unselect Use Master Slide Background, then unselect Project Background (is dimmed as long as you use Master Slide Background) and then you can use a stage color. Those settings I show in the screenshot.

  • How do you change the slide background colour in the keynote app?

How do you change the slide background colour in the keynote app?

You can't (not in Keynote for iOS). The background color is a function of the template selected when you create the file initially and cannot be altered. the only workaround I know of is to add a graphic file to the slide and position it behind all other content, but this would need to be repeated on any slide you wish to "recolor".

  • IDES for writing Java card applets and converting the applets as CAP FILE.

I have developed a JAVA CARD APPLET , FindMFValueJCA.java . It gets compiles in net beans 6.0 But while converting the applet to CAP file i am getting some errors. Is there any other IDES which take care of converting the CAP files

What's the Java version you are using?
As the java card tool kit has version dependencies. If you are using java_card _kit 2.2.2 then 1.5 is fine.

  • TOC tab pushing down master slide background

Why is this happening? It only occurs on three new slides and it pushes down the master slide (background only, not content)

I am using Captivate 7. Here are two screen shots; one that is displayed correctly and one that pushes the master slide down, but leaves the content in place.

  • Lines Appearing on Slide Background at Runtime

I am using Captivate 3 and cannot get support from Adobe, so I am relegated to asking and waiting for a response here.
There are lines appearing on the backgrounds at runtime only. They do not appear during editing mode so I cannot remove them. It seems as if part of the previous slide's background (the lines) are being carried forward since these lines are part of the previous screen. I tried to just start recording the screen I was having problems with assuming that perhaps they were appearing as a result from moving from one screen to the next. It didn't work. Even if I start my recording at the screen where my trouble start, the lines again appear during runtime.
Why can't I get rid of them? My client doesn't want them and neither do I.

I also used to have this issue sometimes in Cp projects.  I noticed that this only happens for slide background images, not for normal images.
My workaround was to ideantify each slide that suffered with this problem then find the background in the Library.  If you drag the library background out onto the same slide it becomes an image.  Then set this image at the lowest level layer so that everything else is on top of it. Set timing so that it plays right from the first slide to the end of the slide with no transition applied.
It's not ideal having to use two copies of the same image on a slide but at least it hides the artifacts at runtime.  They're not visible because they're underneath the dummy background image.

  • Editing the slide background

I have captured an online software demo. After doing so, the
company in which I captured this for has been bought. So here's the
    challenge.
Instead of re-capturing the entire process, I was easily able
to simply copy the background slide, put it into photoshop, adjust
the colors (only thing that changed with the new branding) and
paste back in as a new slide background. Tedious, yes...but would
take much less time than recapturing...editing for pace and voice
    over.
That worked perfectly except for the slides where there is
typing or a mouse click. It appears that Captivate also catpures
horizontal bitmaps for those actions, which show the 'old' colors.
You can't see these items on the timeline in Captivate, although I
know they exist because I have imprted into flash and seen the
    elements.
Does anyone know how to disable these items or edit them so
that I can make it consistent with the color changes?
    Thanks in advance.

Hi chrisbk and welcome to our community
    aaasdf
For the slides where you have captured typing, have you tried
right clicking the typing layer and DE-selecting the "Show Typing"
element? Maybe that will work. Same with the mouse. Try turning it
    off and see what happens.
Here is where I'm going to implore everyone reading this
thread to stop for a moment and flood Adobe with a suggestion. When
you record a movie and have elected to include recording the
typing, you are adding a typing layer to your slide. If you should
make a typo, then backspace over the typo to correct it, guess what
happens? You have no easy way to edit this out. If it's important
to not include the typo, you must re-record that slide. So here is
    where you come in.
    Currently, Captivate offers us
88 different types of animated text! 88! Think about all the
programming effort it takes to create all 88 of those effects. We
have text swooping in from any direction, all kinds of different
fades, fish nibbling the letters away. Wow. Amazing! Now look at
this list of 88 effects and see what is
extremely useful but woefully missing! An animation of
simple typing text. Geez, how long would it take a developer to do
that? 5 minutes? I mean, for all the coding it takes to give us
fish nibbling away at letters, it really should be a very simple
thing for the developer to do.
So, if you feel so inclined (and I really hope many of you
do) take 5 minutes of your day and submit an enhancement request
asking for a simple typing text animation. If we had this, there
would be no need to re-record slides where we made a typo. We could
actually forego recording that piece at all, then add it later via
    a typing text animation.

    You don't.
Slideshows are exported as movies and these are very large files. Email is not an appropriate medium for very large files as they can cause immense issues for the receiver.

  • Help: Slide background showing up on other slides.

I'm using Captivate 6 and I've encountered the following issue with most projects I work on. I've recorded from a software application, and when I publish my project, portions of slide background from some slides show up on other slides. I can't incude a full screenshot due to the proprietary nature of the software I'm working with, but I've included a snippet to give you an idea. The white portion on the left that says "Breath Sounds" is not supposed to be there. That is from a different slide and in a different place. This only shows in the published version, not in preview mode. I've tried increasing the SWF size and quality to high and compressing full motion. The only work-around I've had success with so far is hiding all the objects on a slide and then capturing a screenshot of it, then adding the screenshot to the slide as an image, and applying the objects back on top of it. As you can imagine, this makes the size of the project much bigger than necessary and it is very time intensive to go out and do this for every slide. I've tried adding the screenshot as background and I run in to the same issue. Has anyone run in to this before and know how to fix it?
    Thanks, Brandey

I did not select that option, but I will give that a try. I did create a second version of the project to use to troubleshoot the issues because I was able to finish the first version using the workaround I mentioned above. When I published the new version (without the added screenshot images), I turned off compression and the issue was resolved so that must be it. Thanks to both of you for your help!!

  • How to change the background of a presentation? Not the slide background...

Is it possible to change the background color in a presentation? (the color behind the slide)
I just want to changed to white instead of black, so simple, yet, so difficult..

    Welcome to the Discussions Rodrigo!
The slide background options are a bit hidden. They are at the bottom of the "Appearance" tab in the "Slide Inspector" window. For more detailed instructions see page 62 of the Keynote User Guide, which you can access from Help menu.

  • Problem: Image fill creates white border that obscures slide background

    Dear group,
I'm writing on behalf of someone who has a presentation to make soon and who is working in haste. When he uses the "image fill" option on the slide inspector, there's a white border that seems to obstruct the rest of the slide background. Do you have any suggestions for working around this?
    Many thanks!

He could simply paste the image directly onto the slide (or slide master) rather than using an image fill.

  • Adjusting Image Used for Master Slide Background

I'd like to use a jpeg of mine as the master slide background in a Keynote doc. But I'd like to be able to adjust that image (e.g., making it brighter or less opaque) so that text is clearly visible on it. I know that in the Inspector there are ample ways to adjust the qualities of an image inserted into a slide, but I have not found any way to do with images that are slide backgrounds (or the slide master).
Does anyone know a way? Thanks.

  • Pptx slide background stops displaying in the middle of the course

I'm working in Captivate 7 and started by creating the project from a powerpoint presentation.  I'm adding audio and highlight boxes.  That's it, no branching, no advanced actions.  The project is only 16 slides long, then on slide 8, for no apparent reason, the slide background disappears when I preview the slide, making it impossible to add highlight boxes to the background.  The slide background also does not display if I preview the next 5 slides.
    Any ideas?
The setting for this slide are not different from previous slides.  I've attempted to update the presentation, but that has not worked.

    Hi ,
Can you please share you pptx or cptx file with us to investigate the issue.
You can share your file through mail([email protected]). or dropbox.
