Converting Template from European Page Size

I am new to FrameMaker and to the company I now work for, which is a U.S. site from a European based company.  The FrameMaker templates were established using a page size of A4 (apparently standard size in Europe).  My problem is that when I try to print files on 11.5 X 8 paper, I receive errors and can't get the files to print.  Could someone please provide some tips as to how I can remedy this issue?

If all you want to do is print the files, then make a PDF of the Frame files using Adobe PDF as the printer and setting the paper size to A4. Then print the PDF to the physical printer, setting the paper size to letter and select scale to paper size in Acrobat print dialog.
Most likely, eventually you will want to reformat the files for letter size paper. To do this, you will need to edit the master pages in one of the files, changing the page size and margins, moving headers and footers where necessary. Then copy the master pages into all the files of the book. Then update the book.

  • Detatch template from all pages

I have about 300+ pages and 1 Template. I would like to
detatch the template from all pages and delete it. I will no longer
be using a template on this site.

P.S.   There seems to be something wrong with this forum software, at least  for me.  After I write this and hit Post, it says "There was an error,  please check below        ", where it says I can't post a blank  message.  I cut it and paste it back and it then works.
Sorry - I hate this forum software passionately.  And thankfully, I'm not responsible for it!  You would have to direct these comments to Adobe's Customer service.
As an example, the metatags remain from the template, if I had them in an editable region.
The more important issue to me is:
When    I said I wanted to remove ALL tags, I meant all the tags in the    documents, including style, font, heading, etc. I would like only    paragraph tags to remain.
The objective is to take    pages that are built on a template and move them into a new template    with new styling.  Unfortunately, the author has loads of style/class    tags that need to be removed.  I want to start over by creating a new    template with new styles and taking the content from the original    editable regions, removing all the tags, putting it in the new   template,  and then adding the new style tags.
Perhaps there is a simple way to do this?
How many pages are you talking about here?  The only way to do it under the conditions you are describing would be to create your template, spawn new pages from it, copy content only from the old pages and paste it into the new pages, and then save the new page with the old page's name.

  • Fail to create PDF from 2 templates with different page sizes

Hi,<br /><br />I am having problems to create a PDF with multiple page sizes and using 2 templates.<br /><br />I have to create a PDF using two dynamic templates. The second template has multiple pages, some A4 some A3, which I select through subforms (A3 specific subforms are on an A3 page).<br /><br />So:<br />^job <mdf1> -zOut.pdf<br /><fields><br />^form <mdf2>.mdf<br />^page 2<br />^group G_heading_A3<br /><fields><br /><br />The templates on their own are ok, but when I combine them the second is always A4, even if a) the subforms are on A3 (heading_A3) and if b) the page is A3 (page 2).<br /><br />I couldn't find anything on the web nor in the documentation. The build booklet feature is for very basic booklets, not something like this.
Sorry, but you’ll need to make everything full size and then do the cutting.

  • Printing from Custom Page Size

I am trying to print on custom DVD cover paper, 8.25 by 11.75", 1/2 margins with perferations on those margins. I set it all up and the program prints too far to the left and too far down, missing the set margins, 1/2 inch all around,  and the pereferations. Let's hope someone can help me out.
I have been trying to solve this for quite a while. My work around is print on legal paper and trim. Or, I was told, save as a PDF and print that, which I have yet to try
I have done all kinds of fliers and brochures and never has this problem until I got into custom page size.
    I suspect "Operator Error".
I have the same problem on two diifferent system set ups.
Win 2000, PageMaker and an HP printer, DeskJet 932 .
Vista, InDisign, an Epson Printer Artisan 50 Series, brand new.
I can set it up perfectly in the program and on the screen in either program but no matter what I do it will not print out correctly. I have combed through the printer settings and can find nothing wrong, but there is a solution someplace.
    Thank you!
    Cheers!  Phil

How far "off" is the positioning? +/- a few mm is the best you can hope for on a desktop printer, with some drift from sheet to sheet being very likely.
If it's more than that, it might be that's you've included marks and/or set page positioning to upper left instead of centered.

  • Template from shtml page

When I create a template from an existing page (shtml) and save it to the templates folder, it asks me to update links, I say OK. Now when I go to create a new page from the template (File>New>from template), I don't get the header, footer, or menu. These are separate files in an "includes" directory. How do I get the entire template to show. I undersatnd about setting editable regions and I've done a bit of reading and searching, but can't find out why I don't get the entire file (header, footer, menu) with my template. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

    John,
I don't have time to really get into the code, but it does appear by navigating directly to the includes, they are fine - so that's not a problem.
However, what I don't see in the dwt file is any links to the stylesheets or to the javascript file or any of the onbody load events.... all the things that trigger the menu for example.
The template should include all the elements in the code from the rhinoplasty page - including the css and js links, but just mark out the areas that are going to be editable and where the includes will be located...
Below I paste a section of a page I use as a template, that uses a dropdown menu and includes... as you can see all the links to the css file, the javascript files and any behaviours associated with the page are all in the head of the document.  I've highlighted the editable and non-editable region as well as the includes, so you can see where they are - so you can see from my example compared to yours, you page is missing a lot of necessary code to make the page work  :-)
See if that helps and if not post back, I'm sure someone will pop in and hopefully offer any further help, while I take a break for the night

  • Opening downloaded templates from the Pages start menu

can you do that? i downloaded a template for avery address labels and just have it sitting on my desktop right now. is there any way i can integrate it into my pages application thing so when i click to open the program, that template is one of the option i have to choose from?

Pages stores documents you created & saved as templates in HD > Users > [your account] > Library > Application Support > iWork > Pages > Templates > My Templates. You can also move any downloaded templates into this folder to be available in the Pages template chooser. If you haven't saved any templates you've made, this folder path won't exist. The easiest & safest way to create it is to save a template. If you create it yourself, there is always the chance you may misname one or more. I have put an alias of this My Templates folder in a couple of places - in a folder of frequently accessed folders & files in my Dock and in the toolbar of Finder windows. You could also put it in the left panel of a Finder window. I find this is a much easier way for me to access my templates rather than using the Pages template chooser.

  • Stop Template From Overwriting Page Title

I have a site of several hundred pages that I want to apply a
template to. All the pages are already properly titled with the
Title tag that I want. However, when I apply the DreamWeaver
templates to the page, it overwrites the Title. Any advice on how
to avoid this so that the original titles aren't overwritten when a
    template is applied?
Also, is there any way to apply a template to more than one
page at a time or do I have to open every file one at a time, apply
the template, save, then start that routine over again?
    I am using Dreamweaver CS3.
Thanks for any assistance you can provide!

This is the sign of an improperly made template.
    Do this -
Create a new page (Basic HTML).
Use FILE | Save as Template....
Look at the code in the head region of the page, particularly
    the editable
region around the <title> tag, and the other editable
    region in the head
    called "head".
Make your template file look like that.
Always use FILE | Save as Template when you create your
    templates and you
    won't have this problem again.

Not really. But this is not the best way to do it anyhow. I
    would always
suggest that you create a new page from the template, copy
    and paste from
the existing page into the new page, and then save the new
    page over the old
    one.

  • How do you remove a template from a page?

I want to remove a template from some of my pages and can't
    figure out how to??

The much better thing to do is to modify the template to
    accommodate the
different layouts - that way, everything is still under
    template control,
and you don't have to remember to also change things in those
    pages you have
    detached.

  • Printing Postscript from Multiple page sizes

I'm working at a screen shop, printing .ps files for film. Most of the art is provided from the client on seperate artboards of varying size. In the print dialog box I select "custom" from media size options. This sets my page size to the size of the selected artboard. The problem is each page needs to be a different size so I am forced to print each page one at a time. Is there a way for illustrator to change the media size per artboard? Is there a work around?

Probably something that could be done with a script...

  • Converting Templates From  Adobe Fireworks to Joomla

Do anyone know how to transfer templates from Adobe Fireworks to Joomla or another CMS's . Cuz i wanted to create an ecommerce site ,so i'd like to create a template by myself...

No you can't transfer templates from FW to Joomla or Wordpress or Drupal or any other CMSs because the themes/templates for these packages have to be constructed in a specific way to make them work correctly.
I suggest go to Joomla's Forums and ask them how to create templates for their package.  There are other forums for Wordpress and drupal as well to deal with questions like yours.
    Good luck.

  • Convert template to normal pages doc?

Is there anyway to convert a template to a normal pages doc so that you can edit the background and fixed content etc? (I need to get the background of a template)

Create a new Pages document and select the template whose image you seek. Click once on that image, and then copy it to the clipboard. Launch Preview, and from the File menu, choose New from Clipboard. From Preview, save the image.
Most Apple supplied templates have text that is placeholder text, and images that are placeholder images. That means you can click on the text to edit it, especially the Latin Lorem Ipsum stuffing, and drag/drop an image over an existing one to auto-size and replace. You will know it is placeholder text when you click on it and the background color of the text turns a coral color.

  • Problems converting templates from dot to dotx - concerning tables

I have a lot of templates where bodytext and tables are mixed.
Word standard (to 2010) was that a table starts 0,19 cm left of left margin and since the tablecell has a standard indent of 0,19 cm from left the text in the table alignes with the bodytext above or under the table.
When using Save as to convert a dot to a dotx file in Word 2013 the position of the table changes so it starts at the left margin but still has 0,19 indent in the cell.
The result is that text in the table ends up with an indent of 0,19 which not alignes the rest of the text.
The solution is not to change the cell indent to 0 since the text then is to Close to a possible border.
Is there any explaination or solution out there?
    Thanks!

  • Page Size When Converting TIFF to PDF

In my work I download documents from a website where you can only view and save them as TIFF images. The documents are scanned images of typewritten instruments filed with the county clerk. When saved as TIFFs, the documents are of varying sizes. After I save them as TIFF files, I convert to pdf using select (often multiple files at once), then right click "Convert to Adobe PDF." The files convert to pdf without a problem, except they are of many different page sizes, depending upon the size of the TIFF file.
I am using Adobe Acrobat X Standard (Windows 7 on a PC). Is there a way to set it up so when I convert from TIFF to pdf, it will come out as a standard page size, such as legal 8.5x14? I know that I can convert, then print using the Adobe PDF printer, but that just adds another step.
Would the answer be different if I were using Acrobat X Pro or Acrobat XI? Thanks.

TIFF files contain a page size, and when converted to PDFs, the page size from the TIFF is used.
So you need to fix it in the TIFF before conversion or the PDF after conversion. I think the TIFF will probably be a better, easier and cheaper place to fix it.

Plz tell me what's the line-size, line count and different changes i have to do .

    Hi ,
You can set a element variable . While using ' write ' , you can multiply it after 'at' . For Example :
    data : i type i ,
             page(2) .
    if page = 'A3'
      i = 10 .
    else .
      i = 15 .
    endif .
perform mywrite using 10 'abc'  .
    form mywrite using i_pos s_value  .
      data j type i .
      j = i * i_pos .
      write : at j s_value .
    endform.
