Converting to flash video produces a single fine line

Hi
I export a video as a self-contained quicktime movie (1 min long) from FCP 5 and then use Sorensen Squeeze to convert it to a .flv (flash video) - the resulting flash video looks great except there is always (not the entire way through - usually in a couple of scenes) the occurrence of either a vertical or horizontal line (just a single one usually) on the video. It's subtle, but NOT good! It doesnt look like an interlacing issue as it is just the one line!
The video was de-interlaced in FCP ( upper field ) and I am choosing OnVP6 Flash video - and have tried numerous settings.
Anyone know how i stop these annoying lines?
Thx

Have you examined the area affected to see if it has excessive chroma or is too brite/dark?

  • ? Convert to Flash Video?

Will compressor convert a project in FCP into a flash video?
Are there different size flash files to choose from.

compressor can only do this if you have flash or the flash video encoder already installed from the Adobe CS or some other source. If you do, I would still recommend using the flash video encoder since if gives you more options. If you don't have it, then I have heard good things about VisualHub but I have never used it myself.

  • Converting a flash video file to work with in FCE

Does anyone know how to grab a flash video file off the web and convert it to a format that can be edited in FCE 2.0.3? Thanks

Generally Flash video is streamed off a server and is not downloadable as some QuickTime files are.

  • Text blurry when converted to flash video

I've been exporting my movies from FCP as 8 bit uncompressed to use as a master for converting to flash via the Flash 8 encoder.
The resulting images look great except for text on title cards that were created with text generator in FCP.
I've done numerous tests at various settings, but the text, after the Flash encoding, never looks pristine as it does in QT.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

I don't think you're gaining anything by exporting a DV sequence to uncompressed 8 bit. If you want to improve things, try editing in a ProRes sequence instead from the get go. 10 bit color, and it should play the DV in RT without having to render it as long as your computer is fast enough. But when you recompress a DV seqence to something else, you really can only lose quality. You can't get better by upcoverting the DV, but your titles will look better in 10 bit prores. Keep in mind that once you create something (say a title) in a DV sequnece, it becomes just that... so if you were to create the title in a ProRes 10 bit sequence, theory says that it should look better.
Also FWIW, the Boris Title 3D titler is vector based, not bit-mapped like the text tools are. So it should look nicer all around.

  • Embedded Flash videos don't work

Since updating Firefox to 36, embedded Flash videos don't work. HTML5 and Flash videos on YouTube work fine. I have Click-To-Play enabled (disabling it didn't help too), but instead of a grey area with the message I just see a black area where the video is supposed to be. Does anyone else have this problem?

If you have problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions then check this:
    * see if there are updates for your graphics drive drivers

    * disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)

  • Buffering Problem with Flash Videos

We are having problems with the buffering of newly published FLASH videos (rendered using Premiere/Flash CS6 and using Windows 8 and explorer/firefox/chorme).   Non-Flash Videos appear to buffer fine.
An example of this problem can be seen at http://healthwatchusa.org/HWUSA-Presentations-Testimony/20130215-KY-House/20130214-kavanag h.htm

1.Default of bufferTime is 0.1 seconds. Try to set the value higher and see if that solves your problem.
2.If you set your component to autoplay, you could get rid of it and start the player if the VideoEvent.READY is fired
3.If you have any code inside your swf that tries to communicate with other domains you should set the "allowScriptAccess" value inside your html container from "sameDomain" to "always"

  • Flash Video in Captivate?

I've used Captivate for a while now to create basic web-based
courses that are launched from our internal LMS. Now I would like
to include some video that I have converted into Flash Video. Where
do I start with this? Can I just point to the file on a network
drive or must I "stream" the video from a media server?
Has anyone successfully done this before? What steps did you
    take? What were some pitfalls?
    Thanks!

I use videos in our courses and normally we just include them
as an asset in the SCORM package.
It all depends on the speed of your LMS and the geography
involved. Are you distributing courses on your LMS through a
corporate LAN? Are you distributing courses to Asia? The bandwidth
can be a showstopper, but it all depends on how big the videos are.
How many users needs to view the videos and how many will view them
at the same time - the question is if your LMS can cope with
delivering videocontent to say 50 users at the same time.
We distribute courses through our LMS located in Europe to
countries all over the world. In the beginning we had some issues
with users from USA and users from Thailand and China.
The thing we did to make it work better was to compress the
videos even more. We have reached a level of acceptable video
quality and acceptable size, which seem to work worldwide.
There is no real recipe for how to do it - you need to test
and see the capabilities of your LMS and the bandwidth to your
users. A streaming solution could work if you just need one
streaming server located in one country. When we looked into it we
were looking at an extremely complicated (and very expensive) setup
with streamingservers located in various parts of the world.
Instead we solved it by recoding the videos again to compress them
    more.

  • Flash Video working on PC, but not MAC...

    I'm a bit confused here...
I created a flash movie by using Flash CS3 on my MAC,
essentially I just resized a .dv file, placed a small graphic in
the bottom corner of the video, and output it as a flash movie. I
uploaded it to my server to see how it looks on my website. When I
opened my web browser on my PC, the flash video plays and looks
fine. However when I opened by MAC browser, where the video is
there's a blinking "FLV" film strip icon (reddish)...it's not
playing the video file. Anyone have any idea why this would be
    happening?

Works for me on Safari Version 2.0.4 (419.3). Also works on
IE 7 on parallels. I think you need to update flash player, make
sure all browsers are closed. Testing on Internet Explorer 5.2.3 is
useless, nobody uses that anymore. For Mac, Safari, Opera, and
Firefox are most common. It works fine for me on all browsers, with
    Flash Player 9,0,47,0

  • Flash video works locally but not on server

I am hoping that someone can help me solve this problem. I cannot seem to fix it. I have created a flash video and it works fine locally but doesn't when I upload it to the server. All I get is a white blank screen. I can access the Flash settings but the video doesn't display. I have checked all file paths, which are correct since everything is in the same folder. I have looked up other forums trying to find a solution but nothing has worked yet. Does anyone here have any idea on how to solve this problem?
My operating system is Windows XP. I am using IE8 browser and my flash player is up to date. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Nevermind. I ended up solving the problem on my own. This old guide that I used before ended up helping me out. I will post the link here in case anyone else has the same problem.

  • Multiple audio files for one flash video

My company is developing a presentation software program that
is flashed-based. We are developing a series of videos that will be
converted to flash video. We will also be recording multiple audio
tracks for different languages that we want to swap out and sync to
the video (like the different audio language tracks on a DVD). Does
anyone know if you can encode the video and audio to seperate
tracks and then swap out the audio with another and still synch it
    to the video?
We want to try and avoid encoding video for all the language
tracks to save space. If we could have one video file and then
multiple audio files that can be synched with the video file,
rather than having to encode video and audio for each language,
this would save a lot of room. Can anyone think of a way we could
accomplish this using flash and flash video?

nope, Keynote doesn't have "triggers" though I figure this has to be on Apple's radar as it's been brought up every time a new version comes out.
I suppose one work around would be to make a slide for each sound, and have the sound play when you go to that slide. Then make your table a series of buttons that go to each "sound slide" (you can make link buttons, just not triggers). It would give you the effect of clicking to play the sound, it's just that instead, Keynote would be jumping to a slide and playing a sound. All the slides would LOOK the same, and you wouldn't use transitions between them. The effect would get you what you want, it just takes longer to build.

  • Flash Video & XML

I am not a Flash user, but from what I've read I think it
    might do what I need.
I have a Quicktime that I could convert to Flash video. I
have jpeg files that I want to show side -by-side with the video at
specific times during the video. I also have an XML file that
defines when to show the jpegs (based on timecode) and which file
to show at that time. I would keep the jpegs on a server. Using
this method, I can update my jpeg graphics without having to edit
the video. Less time consuming to update an element than to update
the entire video. Update the jpeg, and replace it on the server
    with the same name.
The user would play the Flash movie. At specific times, a web
browser window would open up to show a jpeg file. And ongoing
points, the web broswer would change to subsequent jpeg files as
defined by the XML. It's basically a power point that runs
    concurrently with the Flash video.
Can this be done in Flash? Easily? Expertly? With what
    software components?
Thanks for any help or comments.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • Single screen for flash videos

I have a guitar tutorial on my website. I have lots of 1 minute flash videos that can be viewed. At the moment I use javascript to open a new browser to view each video...... this means that there are different screens (video players) for each video. How do I use 1 single video player to play all the flash videos? so when I click a playlist the video shows in the same player? I m not sure if this is understandable without an example. I just want 1 video player on my page and a link or playlist to play the videos in the same player.... sorry if this doesnt make sense!!!!!
    thank you

  • Firefox5 is not showing BBC iPlayer Video & Radio Other browsers are all fine(Safari,IE,Chrome) The iPlayer webpage is all there but the flash video player is black. The OS is XPpro.

Firefox5 is not showing BBC iPlayer Video & Radio.
    Other browsers are all fine(Safari,IE,Chrome)
The iPlayer webpage is all there but the flash video player is black. The OS is MS Windows XP Professional 32-bit SP3.

Also, when the flash video does not show up it displays the error that I do not have the current flash player. The problem is that I do have the current flash player that actually plays flash from another section of the website.
    Forgot to add that earlier.
