Converting to iOS5 on my iPhone 4 has wiped and corrupt my phone.
So I had been trying to update my iPhone 4 to the new software like everyone else is doing at the moment, and after around 6 failed attempts I gave up. I tried again today, and it looked like it was going to work, told me my phone was successfully backed up, wonderful, and then went on to install. This time, it failed AGAIN, but wiped my phone completely. As if I wasn't fuming enough with yet another one of Apple's major let downs...I then accepted that I would have to restore my phone to factory settings just to get the phone to turn on. Only this fails too, so now my new phone (which Apple had to replace after my older one went into an 'iPhone coma' for no reason only THREE WEEKS AGO) is useless. I have no record of anyones number, I cannot turn my phone on as it just asks to be connected to iTunes. When i do this, it asks to be restored (if it picks the phone up) and then fails. Most of the time it doesn't pick the phone up, even when I force recovery mode.
Safe to say I am not a happy bunny. Has anyone else had this / is there a solution that I'm missing? This is the third iPhone I have had on my contract (all replacements were due to hardware faults) and to be honest, I am getting fed up.

If you no longer have your iOS device
If you're using iCloud and Find My iPhone on the device, you can erase the device remotely and remove it from your account by signing in to icloud.com/find, selecting the device, and clicking Erase. When the device has been erased, click Remove from Account.
If you're unable to complete either of the above steps, you should change your Apple ID password. Changing your password won't remove any personal information that is cached on the device, but it will make sure that the new owner can't delete your information from iCloud.

My iPhone 3Gs has frozen and I can't do anything except turn it off by hard boot. When I plug it in, I have the apple icon and that is all. It was at 43 percent battery life when it happened and my Twitter app was giving me problems. Thoughts?

By far the most common problem hardware-wise seems to be scuffs on the aluminium. Yours is the first report of a faulty screen I've seen.
If you use the same Apple ID on both devices it'll sync whatever you want it to - music/apps/photos/messages/etc.

I'm at a loss as to what to do. Any help is appreciated. When syncing my iphone I get an message, "itunes could not sync calendars to the iphone because an error ocurred while merging data" I sync my calendar to outlook. My iphone calendar has all and the most updated information. Outlook calendar only shows my recurring events.

i've found a great & simple solution for this problem
just open your iCloud acc on iPhone
turn off calendars (it wil ask you to keep info or not - KEEP IT!)
and turn back on (MERGE!)
now SYNC it..
and that's it
PS in my case it was contacts so the procedure is the same.. -
I have recently done the update to my iphone and then tried to backup my iphone to itunes and an error meesage has occured and now my phone isn't responding to anything and is stating that it needs to be restored back to manufacturers settings, Can anyone help?

My iphone 3GS has wiped out all my contacts and I need help to recover them. I tried a restore back up and a backup from itunes but I don't use itunes at all so I don't think it worked. I tried also wonderfone and some type of DFU mode and couldn't find the contacts. What can I do please help.
Go to settings do a reset when reset is done you will need to enter your Wireless key for your router. Then go to software updates and download new update 8.0.2 That help me. Bsydd uk

My iphone 4 has died and says connect to itunes. itunes restore wont work, error message 2001, then 2006 appears.Tried all the troubleshooting help, but nothing works. Any ideas???
I solved my own problem. Hopefully this will help someone else.
I did a DFU restore, then started it up as a new phone on iTunes. Everything loaded properly, then from iTunes did a restore from backup, selected the one I wanted and it still took me to the same screen with 3 options of restore. I chose the start up as new phone from the actual phone and after all the syncing was completed, my phone is back in working order. -
The computer that I normally sync my iphone with has crashed and all info lost.... I'm trying to sync and update with my new laptop but I am getting an error meassage that if I continue all purchases, apps etc will be deleted..... How to I do this without losing all my stuff??? Help I have no clue about technology!!!!!
The official way to do it is to restore the iTunes library that was on your old computer to your new computer using the backup of your whole system you regularly update. Then you are syncing the phone with the same old library.

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was designed for you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchased content.

If you established a rescue email address, there will be a link on the "Passwords & Security" page of id.apple.com. Clicking the link will send the reset to your rescue email address (NOTE: This is not the same address as your Apple ID email)
If there is no link on the page, then you didn't establish a rescue email address. Contact AppleCare at 800.694.7466, and ask for account security. You will need to answer some questions to verify your identity, AND you will need access to a computer to generate a temporary support pin.

Have you not been using your phone as designed? Contacts should be living in the cloud (Google, iCloud) or on your computer in an app (Outlook, Address book).
The phone is designed to be a portable way to carry a COPY of your contacts with you.
Synch your contacts to your new phone from the computer app or cloud service you use.
If you haven't been using your phone as designed, then there's nothing to do. -
