Converting to older quicktime versions?

I have a program on a PC that requires Quicktime 6. The problem is, when I uninstalled QT 7 and installed QT 6, my iMovie file stopped playing. Can QT 6 not play video files created with the newest iMovie?
I create movies in iMovie (HD 6, on a MBP) which I need to run in Quicktime 6. What does it take to make this work? Can the newest iMovie export as a QT 6 file or something?
--Timothy

the main new codec, which is QT7 only is h264...
a .mov file containing such encoded material will be "plain white" plus audio...
so, in the share/Quicktime/Expert Settings, you can choose any other codec...
.. that should result in a file, older QT version will accept... mpeg4, sorenson, mjpeg.. whatever... (depends on content of video....)

  • Finding Older Quicktime Versions using Vista

I am trying to add the iTunes software to my new laptop using the Vista Home Premium operating system. Everytime I go to load the software it comes up with the message "The older version of Quicktime could not be removed." I have searched everywhere I can think of and I still can not get iTunes to load which locks me out of my iPod. Any suggestions as to how fix this??? I have deleted and uninstalled all iPod programs from the disk as well as the download. Please help.

    Good one
I've got plentys of OS X system lying here and there.
(Wait, what about if my systems aren't old enough? I'd like to mess up with 7.1.1 or so, I don't think my first Mac OS is that old.. Yes I'm that of a newbie.)

  • Removing current Quicktime installation (tu use older quicktime version)

Hi! I've had the need to use an older version of Quicktime, as the version 7.1.3 and all older do not support flash.
Current version of Quicktime is 7.5.5. I am on Leopard 10.5.5.
Please take note, by Flash I mean .SWF file, NOT .flv or any other flash video. I really mean animation. Otherwise Perian would have already dealt with it.
I have found older versions on the site : mac.oldapps.com
I tried searching on the Apple Support page but I got trouble and lost myselft there, so I looked at mac.oldapps.com after.
I tired running the installer, but it informed me that it can't install Quicktime as another most recent versions is already installed (my current 7.5.5).
Then I tried to remove Quicktime, but Quicktime is a massive underlying system under OS X, and I couldn't find any suitable uninstaller.
Somebody here : http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=467315 said to use Pacifist, which I already have but I don't understand how I can use pacifist to downgrade Quicktime with an older uninstaller.
If anyone has any hint on downgrade Quicktime with style, please contribute! It would be appreciated.
As for playing SWF in Quicktime, I am 'taping' them using Snapz. The problem is to set the window to a good file size, and then playing it. Saving it in fully uncompressed gives you more chances to recompress the rendered file if you miss first time.

  • How do I convert an older .vi to the recent build of Labview

I have some older .vi files that were built using labview 6 on a different computer. When I open the .vi in version 8.6. The .vi files use the AI ONE PT function that isn't convertable to the latest version.
What is the easiest way to get these converted or what is a good substitute function to get things running on the latest version?

  • Adobe Reader for Windows Phone cannot open older PDF versions?

I've found that Adobe Reader for Windows Phone displays the following error when I try to open certain PDF documents: "There was an error opening the document".
After doing some limited testing I found that it can successfully open PDF documents which were saved as "PDF version: 1.5 (Acrobat 6.x)", but the error appears when it tries to open documents saved as the older format "PDF version: 1.3 (Acrobat 4.x)". (I am checking the filetype version by opening the documents in Adobe Reader X on my PC and looking at the document properties).
My phone is a HTC 7 Mozart running Windows Phone 7.5. I noticed the problem when I was using the SkyDrive app to try and look at some PDF files I have saved in SkyDrive. SkyDrive downloads the file and then passes it to the Adobe Reader app to view. It works when I look at a newer version 1.5 PDF but not the older v1.3 type. Unfortunately my HP Photosmart 5510 scanner outputs scans as PDF files and only in the older file version.
I've tried reinstalling the SkyDrive app and the Adobe Reader app on my phone. (The Adobe Reader app is version 10.1.1, build 20120919).
Is this a known limitation, or is this a bug?
If this is a limitation that won't be fixed - is there an easy way I can convert my files to the newer file type? (Adobe Reader X on my PC doesn't seem to offer a way to convert existing files)
    Thanks!

  • Save Converted Document from Previous Version without Confirmation in CC2014?

    Hi Everyone,
Is there a way to save a converted document from a previous version of InDesign with the same name WITHOUT the save confirmation dialog box? By a converted document, I mean that when you open a version from CS6 for example the document tab shows [Converted], and will automatically prompt with a Save Dialog when saving. I've parsed over all Preferences but may have possibly overlooked something.
    Thank you for your help!

If you are using OSX try this AppleScript:
    http://www.zenodesign.com/forum/ConvertToCC2014.zip
There's a droplet and script panel version in the zip archive. It copies the chosen folder's ID files older than version 10 into an Archive subfolder then updates the files. Depending on the file size it can take some time—there's a done dialog when it completes. I would test it a few times to make sure it does what you expect.

  • Install older iTunes version?

i want to install an older iTunes version. how can i do this?
i've recently installed the latest iTunes update on my computer (which has been out of service for 5 months) and now iTunes skips and stutters constantly whether i'm playing songs through iTunes or my iPod. i've tried all the "fixes" i can find on the web, quicktime settings, system audio preferences, itunes settings, etc. and i am fed up. i've spent the past 2 weeks trying to get this latest version of iTunes to work, and i just want my older version back.
    please help!

thanks so much! i'm back to version 7 and all my stuttering and skipping problems are gone!!!
my ipod syncs just fine, and i can access the itunes store with no problems!
i'm not sure what happened with the updates over the past 5 months, but whatever it was certainly effects the functionality of itunes on older (2 year old system!!) computer set ups.

  • HT3678 I am using a program which requires QuickTime version 7.7.2  I am finding it difficult to locate this item via download. Can anyone help?

I am using a program which requires QuickTime version 7.7.2 specifically. Where can I find a download? Window 7 user.

    I'm assuming you know Quicktime 7.7.2 for Windows has been superceded by 7.7.4 available here;
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/#quicktime,
and so the only place I could find the older version was at this link.

  • Multiple quicktime versions ?

    Hi everyone,
recently I had used Quicktime Player 5 and it worked fine with Pinnacle Commotion Pro which is of course an "older app". Since I work with Premiere Pro CS3 I upgraded the Quicktime Player, now running version 7.
But Commotion Pro can not identify this version of Quicktime. Obviously too many things have changed for the newer version (Registry, System files,...).
In fact Commotion Pro requires Quicktime to start. Now it complains "Sorry, Quicktime version 4 or later required". Then it shuts down. No more chance to work with it. But quicktime is intalled!
I think there could be two ways to solve the problem and I ask you for help:
    1.
Is it possible to run Quicktime 4 or 5 PLUS Quicktime 7 on one system ?
    2.
If not, how could Quicktime 7 be identified the same way as Quicktime 4 or 5 by a program that currently can't identify it ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Hartmut

The only way I have heard of to have two different fully functional versions of QT on the same computer. Is to have two operating system's on the computer, which I think is called dual boot. Which probably requires two hard drives or maybe a partitioned hard drive, because QT needs to install to a (C:) drive. Kirkster, I recall had once written about getting two QT players, from two different versions of QT, on the same operating system. But it was awhile ago, I don't know how it is done, or if he was referring to Mac's or Windows or both. If he doesn't come across this post, you may want to post to QuickTimeKirk to see if he can come up with anything.

  • Itunes is asking for Quicktime Version 7.5.5. or higher before opening

    Hi there,
recently I had to reinstall my complete software by using the installation disc that came with my macbook. After reinstalling I updated my itunes-Version to 5.2.2. Afterwards, by clicking on the itunes-Logo in the dock in order to start itunes, I have received the failure notice "Itunes needs quicktime player version 7.5.5. or higher"
I have checked my current quicktime version, it says it is version no. 7.7. (1680.25) in greater letters and below written in smaller letters there's a different version no. saying 7.4.1. (14).
That leaves me with the question, how to find out which quicktime version is correct. And, if no. 7.7. is correct, what can I do about itunes to be able to open the programm again? Thanks in advance for any advice, you can give me.

Run System Profiler.  Go to the Apple in the upper left corner of any window, then "About This Mac", then "More Info..."
Check under both Applications and Frameworks for Quicktime.  Applications are the actual Player application itself.  I believe Frameworks is the underlying system software support.  If you see something different there it might be that about which iTunes is complaining.  On my computer both say the same, but I'm not having the issue.
I'm guessing here but if you re-installed the system using Archive and Install,  your applications were left intact and that's why your Player is 7.7, but all your system software (includingQT framework) was replaced with earlier versions which may be why the you're seeing different versions.  iTunes doesn't need the Player, but it does need the underlying QT software.

  • Where are the older BIOS versions gone?

    Hi
A few weeks back, I've upgraded the BIOS on my Pavilion G6 1001sq to the latest version (F66). I noticed that the laptop is running considearbly hotter since then and I want to revert to an older BIOS version. When I go to the updates page on the HP website and click on "older versions available" I can only see the F66 version on the page I'm directed to ( http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/previousVersions?softwareitem=ob-115746-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=4... ), although a long list with many versions was available till recently. Where are the older versions gone?

Unfortunately, I do not know where they have gone. HP is working on issues with the suport and driver servers at the moment.
Since your notebook does have the UEFI Diagnostics installed, you should be able to rollback to the previous version that was installed. Use the firmware management option to do that.

  • Is there any kind of adapter/converter that converts an older Firewire 400 to Thunderbolt?

Is there any kind of adapter/converter that converts an older Firewire 400 to Thunderbolt?

Is this to plug in an older FW 400 device into a Thunderbolt port on a Mac?
Or to plug in a Thunderbolt device into a FW 400 port on a Mac?
The first can be done but not the second.
