Converting to real and imaginary from amplitude and frequency

basically there is a control of the amplitude and frequncy, so as to changes with resoect of real and imaginary

See the attachment, if this is what you require.
I ve enabled the Unit Label for the Freq control on the FP. Just rt-click & select to enable the Unit Label feature to dorectly key in the Deg [angle] value for the frequency parameter. Normally it takes frequency [or phase angle] in radians in LV.

• I am using sound and vibration assistant 7.0. I want to know if it is possible to convert the mag and phase plot to real and imaginary plots ??

I am using sound and vibration assistant 7.0 . I am using the impact test example given . I want to know if it is possible to convert the magnitude phase plot to real and imaginary plot in the sound and vibration assistant 7.0 ???

If you have LabVIEW, you can create a user step to perform the conversion in version 7.0. Sound and Vibration 2009 has a checkbox in the Frequency Response configuration page to export the real and imaginary components. Short of upgrading SVT, you can also install the evaluation version of NI LabVIEW SignalExpress 2009, and this will also upgrade the Frequency Response Step which is shared between the two products (but then you don't get all the other features that were also added in SV 2009).
Here are some links that may be useful to help decide whether you want to upgrade:

• Unable to collect real and imaginary data from labview for hp8510C

Hi,
I have been trying to use LabView to collect data from hp8510C. I downloaded the drivers from NI website. I am able to sweep frequency (using vi called Agilent 8510C Frequency Sweep.vi) and see different S parameters on Network Analyzer screen but I am unable to collect any data (real and imaginary values). Please help.

Howdy deepi,
I'd like to know a little bit more about how you're connecting to your instrument (GPIB, serial, USB, Ethernet). NI has a great program called Measurement and Automation Explorer that can check low level functionality (*IDN?) of your device to ensure hardware functionality. For general help with LabVIEW, check out Instrument Control in LabVIEW. For some more instrument specific help, try GPIB, USB, Serial, or Ethernet Instrument Control. This should get you going.

• How to calculate rms voltage, rms current and frequency from real time data?

Hello,
I need to calculate the real time rms voltage, rms current and frequency of the received voltage and current graphs using visa read. Actually am trying to monitor the voltage and current parameters of AC load, in this case, am using a set of 4 light bulbs at the moment. Expected frequency is 50 Hz, and rms voltage close to 240v AC, current about 1A.
Attached is the vi picture of what I have been able to achieve so far, courtesy of labview forums. But I need to finally finish this vi by calculating the Vrms, Irms and frequecy. The front panel shows the voltage (Chart V) and current (Chart I) after scaling. Chart VI represents ADC value 0 ~ 1023 of received data. Aray V & I show the binary bits received up to 10 bits of useful data from ADC. Each sine wave from ADC is sampled at 25 samples for the ADC conversion, and sampling frequency of 1.28kH.
I have tried using the RMS vi, but seems I don't know how to configure it correctly to get desired results. Also when I make changes like switching of one of the bulbs so that their is current change, I need to refresh the SERIAL port first before changes show up on the VI. Any ideas on how to improve on this are highly appreciated.
Otherwise, I would appreciate if somebody helps me MODIFY my VI to read the rms values and frequency from received data. This is the last piece of my project, I do appreciate all the help rendered. Am currently using labview labview 2014, student version!
Gavin.

hello,
note that peak voltage (Vpeak) is (240 * 1.414) = 399 V and peak current about 1.414 if intended rms current is 1A.

I have tried to convert the pdf to Word instead but same difficulty with numbers: look like numbers but not usable for calculations

Excel has a 'text to numbers' function, I would use that.

• Convert.ToByte and logical masks, from VB to LabVIEW

Hi guys,
I have to write a VI communicating via RS232 with a microcontroller for a PWM application. A colleague has given me the GUI he has developpd in VB and I would like to integrate it into my LabVIEW programme by converting the VB code into Labview code. Here's the code:
Private Sub LoadButton_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles loadButton.Click
Dim bufLen As Integer = 12 // Buffer length
Dim freq As Integer = 0 // frequency
Dim pWidth As Integer = 0 // pulse width
Dim dac As Integer = 0 // Value used in oscillator setting for generating pulse frequency
Dim addr As Integer = 0 // Address of the pulse width in the pulse generator.
Dim rTime As Integer = 0 // duration of machining/pulse train in ms.
Dim returnValue As Byte = 0 // A variable for storing the value returned by the
//microcontroller after it receives some data
Dim buffer(bufLen) As Byte       // creates an array of bytes with 12 cells => buffer size = 8 x12 = 96 bits
// can you explain a bit please I know you're converting the entered values into byte and put them one by one in a specific order. This order is how the
//microcontroller expects them
addr = (Floor((pWidth - Tinh) / Tinc)) // Formula from hardware, calculates address setting for pulse generator to set pulse width.
buffer(0) = Convert.ToByte(Floor(3.322 * (Log10(freq / 1039)))) // Caluclates OCT value for use in setting oscillator for pulse freq.
dac = (Round(2048 - ((2078 * (2 ^ (10 + buffer(0)))) / freq)))  // Calculates DAC value for use in setting oscillator for pulse freq.
buffer(1) = Convert.ToByte((dac And &HF00) >> 8)                         //
// &H is the vb.net to tell it its hex code, F00 gives the top 4 bits from a 12 bit value.
buffer(2) = Convert.ToByte(dac And &HFF) // For values that are larger than 256 (8bits) the value needs to be split across 2 bytes (16 bits) this gets the //bottom 8 bits. &H is the vb.net to tell it its Hex.
buffer(3) = Convert.ToByte((addr And &HFF0000) >> 16) // This value may be so large it requires 3 bytes (24bits). This gets the top 8 bits.
buffer(4) = Convert.ToByte((addr And &HFF00) >> 8) // This gets the middle 8 bits.
buffer(5) = Convert.ToByte(addr And &HFF)// This gets the bottom 8 bits.
buffer(6) = Convert.ToByte((rTime And &HFF0000) >> 16) //This value may also be 3 bytes long.
buffer(7) = Convert.ToByte((rTime And &HFF00) >> 8)
buffer(8) = Convert.ToByte(rTime And &HFF)
buffer(9) = Convert.ToByte(2.56 * ocpBox.Value) // The ocp pulse period is formed of 256 steps or counts, so if a percentage is requested, this formula gives the number of steps/counts required to set the pulse width
buffer(10) = Convert.ToByte(tempBox.Value)
If (tempCheck.Checked = True) Then
buffer(11) = 1
Else
buffer(11) = 0
End If
freq = ((2 ^ buffer(0)) * (2078 / (2 - (dac / 1024))))
pWidth = Tinh + ((((Convert.ToInt32(buffer(3))) << 16) Or ((Convert.ToInt32(buffer(4))) << 8) Or (Convert.ToInt32(buffer(5)))) * Tinc)
' Connect to device
serialPort1.Write(1) // Sends the number 1. This tells the microcontroller we are about to start sending data. It should respond with a zero if it is ready
//and the connection is good.
The line "serialPort1.Write(buffer, 0, bufLen)" sends the buffered data where the variables are: buffer = the buffered data; 0 = the position in the buffer to start from; bufLen = the position in the buffer to stop sending data.
What's the best way to deal with the Convert.ToBytes and the logical masks And ??
Thanks in advance for your time and consideration,
regards
Alex

Dear Nay2000,
I have the same problem, my girl-friend saved a bigger Gigabyte library from her old laptop before she sold it, then at some point she realized that she couldn't play many songs that she had transfered. Now, I paid those 30 quid as well, and it doesn't play 99% of the files, that is very frustrating, is there any way you got it revived?

Converting to Oracle Real Application Clusters from Single-Instance Oracle Databases
We should have 10g DB on ASM to make it RAC?

With Oracle Database 10g Release 2, $ORACLE_HOME/bin/rconfig tool can be used to convert Single instance database to RAC. This tool takes in a xml input file and convert the Single Instance database whose information is provided in the xml. You can run this tool in "verify only" mode prior to performing actual conversion. This is documented in the RAC admin book and a sample xml can be found $ORACLE_HOME/assistants/rconfig/sampleXMLs/ConvertToRAC.xml. Grid Control 10g Release 2 provides a easy to use wizard to perform this function.

• Fail to Convert between UTF8 and UCS2: fail UTF Conversion

I'm using the JReport software, a product which generates java reports based on a jdbc datasource.
during installation the JReport installation program located Microsoft java VM installed on my PC and I accepted this option to be working JVM for JReport.
This worked very well. I have installed jdbc driver for Oracle 8.1.5 that worked fine as well on the design time (I have connected to Oracle, I have seen my tables and other information on my DB).
But when I switched the run-time view (when real data is going to load) then the following exception message appeared :
"Fail to Convert between UTF8 and UCS2: fail UTF Conversion" .
if there is anybody who understood my problem any kind of help will be appreceated
It will be helpfull to receive any suggestions made to this matter.
Anything relative help will be welcome.
thanks in advance.

I had the same problem using Oracle 9i. The problem lied within the Oracle JDBC driver itself! --;
If you're using JDBC driver from Oracle 9i, stop using it!
You should download JDBC driver of Oracle 10g from Oracle site and use that driver instead.
After I changed the driver, I now have no problem of getting Korean characters from the database.
Hope this would solve your problem too.

• Convert smart quotes and other high ascii characters to HTML

I'd like to set up Dreamweaver CS4 Mac to automatically convert smart quotes and other high ASCII characters (m-dashes, accent marks, etc.) pasted from MS Word into HTML code. Dreamweaver 8 used to do this by default, but I can't find a way to set up a similar auto-conversion in CS 4. Is this possible? If not, it really should be a preference option. I code a lot of HTML emails and it is very time consuming to convert every curly quote and dash.
Thanks,
Robert

I too am having a related problem with Dreamweaver CS5 (running under Windows XP), having just upgraded from CS4 (which works fine for me) this week.
In my case, I like to convert to typographic quotes etc. in my text editor, where I can use macros I've written to speed the conversion process. So my preferred method is to key in typographic letters & symbols by hand (using ALT + ASCII key codes typed in on the numeric keypad) in my text editor, and then I copy and paste my *plain* ASCII text (no formatting other than line feeds & carriage returns) into DW's DESIGN view. DW displays my high-ASCII characters just fine in DESIGN view, and writes the proper HTML code for the character into the source code (which is where I mostly work in DW).
I've been doing it this way for years (first with GoLive, and then with DW CS4) and never encountered any problems until this week, when I upgraded to DW CS5.
But the problem I'm having may be somewhat different than what others have complained of here.
In my case, some high-ASCII (above 128) characters convert to HTML just fine, while others do not.
E.g., en and em dashes in my cut-and-paste text show as such in DESIGN mode, and the right entries
–
—
turn up in the source code. Same is true for the ampersand
&
and the copyright symbol
©
and for such foreign letters as the e with acute accent (ALT+0233)
é
What does NOT display or code correctly are the typographic quotes. E.g., when I paste in (or special paste; it doesn't seem to make any difference which I use for this) text with typographic double quotes (ALT+0147 for open quote mark and ALT+0148 for close quote mark), which should appear in source code as
“[...]”
DW strips out the ASCII encoding, displaying the inch marks in DESIGN mode, and putting this
"[...]"
in my source code.
The typographic apostrophe (ALT+0146) is treated differently still. The text I copy & paste into DW should appear as
[...]’[...]
in the source code, but instead I get the foot mark (both in DESIGN and CODE views):
I've tried adjusting the various DW settings for "encoding"
MODIFY > PAGE PROPERTIES > TITLE/ENCODING > Encoding:
and for fonts
EDIT > PREFERENCES > FONTS
but switching from "Unicode (UTF-8)" to "Western European" hasn't solved the problem (probably because in my case many of the higher ASCII characters convert just fine). So I don't think it's the encoding scheme I use that's the problem.
Whatever the problem is, it's caused me enough headaches and time lost troubleshooting that I'm planning to revert to CS4 as soon as I post this.

• Function to convert PO quantity and cancelled quantity into Primary UOM

Hello,
I am looking for a function to convert PO quantity and cancelled quantity into its Primary UOM from the unit of measure the line order was placed.
Thank you

hi
In case if you are already working in production remember that decimal places should not change. It will affect all previous data.
For your problem best solution is make order unit as 1000. So that your problem will solve
e.g. instead of 2.009 inr for 1 Unit use 2009 inr for 1000 unit.

I would like to embed interactive widgets in iBooks using iBookAuthor. The widgets in question started life in Java but GWT has allowed them to be converted to javascript and to run on web pages (for example, http://softoption.us/content/node/437 scroll to the bottom). In theory, iBookAuthor can bring in most html5, and much javascript. The technique is to wrap the html in a folder, with 2 extra files, a plist and a default png and then change the extension of the folder to ‘.wdgt’. This is the technique for making Dashboard widgets for the Mac, and Apple even have the Dashcode software to do it. So what you really do is to make a Dashboard widget, then iBookAuthor can import it. So far, so good. And some folk have been doing this, for example http://www.prweb.com/releases/2012/2/prweb9242432.htm http://www.panophoto.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=10417&p=158330#p158423 However, if you start with GWT and create a single page with one button and a Hello World, compile it, and get the WAR file (I use Eclipse here)… the Safari browser and others will run it properly (even on an iPad). Then if you wrap it, a proper Dashboard widget is created, which runs properly on a Mac. Then if you go to iBookAuthor and put a custom widget in the Text, then drag it in. It is accepted by the text and shown as being there. However, if you use Preview to look at it on an iPad, it is gone (or was never there in the first place). Anyone any ideas on this? [And iBook Author seems to give no warnings.] The widget is at https://dl.dropbox.com/u/46713473/Test6.wdgt.zip I have bells and whistles that I’d like to get into an iBook!
Thanks for any insights.
Martin

I do have a little to add, which might help someone. Indeed, opening a blank page and dragging the widget straight in seems good in difficult cases. But, actually, I was also able to insert successfully from the Toolbar especially to blank pages. So, it may have been something to do with the columns and stuff like that. Anyway back then the insertion would show in iBooks Author but not in the Preview on the iPad. I moved on to actual Google Web Toolkit output javascript. Basically I had three at hand to try: a Hello World with a button which went straight it, one of moderate complexity, (for example with a built in Lisp interpreter), which also went straight in, and finally a more complex one that initially was rejected by iBook Author. Author complained that there was an unsupported media file (of course, Author does not tell you which one it is, that would be too easy). [Remember, this was a proper working Dashboard widget which could be installed on a Mac]. Among other things I had read remarks about .gif files. When looking through the GWT war directory at the actual javascript etc files, I noticed there were two gifs there one called ‘clear.cache.gif ‘ and a second one called ‘0F89659FF3F324AE4116F700257E32BD.cache.gif’. (Now, there is obfuscation so the numbers here may be different from case to case.) The clear.cache.gif did not seem to be anything special. But the other one is an animation. It is three little boxes that twinkle (rather like a waiting spinning cursor). So, I opened that file and saved it to itself (that picks the top frame of the animation and saves only that, leaving you with an unanimated gif). The resulting widget drags and drops into iBooks Author (and seems to work properly at a quick glance). So, if you are having trouble with ‘unsupported media files’ converting animated gifs into unanimated gifs might help in some cases.
