Converting to tif

Hi, I need to submit to a client tif files between 45.5-52MB. I have photos shot in NEF RAW and are about 15 MB before converting to tif in LR. When exporting and converting, the color space is set to sRGB, 8 bit, Resolution 300, and I have not selected "resize to fit." The exported tif files are about 29 MB.
Is it possible to increase the size of these files to between 45-52MB, and if so, how?
Also, can I convert JPEGs, which are much smaller to this size as well?
Thanks for any help!
Matt

Just upscale by making the resize to fit larger than the source image. Since you have about 29MB now, you can scale the number of pixels in the long dimension by 30-40% and you will get the desired effect (area and therefore filesize scales with the square of the dimension as you now). You can do the same to jpeg sources by simply exporting to tiff. I wish that these places would wise up as filesize has very little relation to image quality.

  • An error has occurred which stopped the processing of the PDF. Trying to convert a .tif file

    I'm new to this conversion system.  I tried several times to convert a .tif file to a .pdf file.  I got the same message every time: "An error has occurred which stopped the processing of the PDF".  What am I doing wrong?

    Hi stefan235235,
    I'm sorry that you're having trouble combining PDF files using Adobe PDF Pack. Does the error occur with all files that you try to combine, or just a select few?
    Make sure that the files you're trying to combine aren't secured, password protected, 3D, or part of a PDF portfolio, as these types of PDFs can't be combined.
    If you're combining supported file types and still getting that error, please try the following:
    Log out and clear the cache. Then log back in to https://cloud.acrobat.com/combinepdf using a supported web browser (see  System requirements | Acrobat.com).
    Try combining smaller groups of files, to see if you can narrow the error down to a specific file or files.
    Please let us know how it goes.
    Best,
    Sara

    How do I convert a scanned tif file to a pdf file?

    Hi lauras,
    You can use either Adobe PDF Pack or Acrobat to convert that TIFF to PDF. While we don't offer free trials of the subscription products, such as PDF Pack, we do offer a free trial of Acrobat. Please feel free to give it a try--you can download a 30-day trial from the link I included above.

  • PDF Generator fails on Convert-OCR tif

    Ok, so LC ES Preview up and kinda running (on XP SP2 Virtual PC, 2gb RAM)
    Went to create PDF direct from LCPDFG UI (so, http://localhost:8080/adminui/... etc and a .tif converted fine to an image .pdf
    However, when I chose opton 'File Type Settings - Standard OCR' I just got error msg:
    'PDFGenerator Process Launcher has encountered aproblem... with ntdll.dll - pdfgen.exe mdmp and appcompat.txt mentioned.
    The .tif converts and ocrs fine in stand-alone Acrobat 8 Pro.
    p.s. - Error code: 1000 - error msg: ALC-PDF-001-000 Conversion failed because of an exception. RuntimeException:CausedByException is: An unexptected exception while resolving a new connection to an Adobe Service.

    Hi Jess - ES is jut running on a virgin XP SP2 Virtual PC (2gb RAM dedicated) so no other processes should be accessing it.
    One thing I wondered - for the ES Preview, you get a 30 day eval of Acrobat 8.1 Pro - which of course usually comes up with the 'this is an eval - do you want to buy/continue' I would not have thought it would have been included if a problem, but could that be it?
    "Check to be sure the environment variables are set up correctly - this should be done automatically during installation and deployment."
    - all the JDK stuff was checked and seemed fine.
    Major problem is the vagueness of the LC error msg - any way to get more detailed error info??
    Thanks

  • "Sharing" a Lr Mobile TIF file to the iPhone 6 camera roll converts the TIF to JPG.  Bad, bad, bad Lr Mobile!

    I have another discussion concerning Lr Mobile and TIF files that exist in the iPhone 6/iOS 8 camera roll (aka "Recently Added"): Lr Mobile 1.2.1 does not recognize .tif files added to iPhone 6 + iOS8 Camera Roll
    A new issue has surfaced.  When I add a TIF file in Lr Desktop to a collection that is synced with Lr Mobile, the TIF file appears as a TIF file in Lr Mobile.  So far, so good.  But if I then "share" that TIF image using the "Save Image" command in Lr Mobile, the image gets converted to a JPG file before it is added to the iPhone's camera roll.  This despite the fact that the iPhone 6 camera roll can save and display TIF files captured by the iPhone's camera.
    Please fix this problem, as well as the problem concerning display of camera roll TIFs in Lr Mobile that is the subject of my other discussion!
    Cheers,
    Jeff

    The file that comes into Lightroom mobile is labeled as a Tiff but is really a smart preview that Lightroom has generated from the Tiff and synced to the cloud.  The file your iPad is pulling in from LR Desktop is not a Tiff in the true sense. so it wouldn't make sense that it would save to camera roll as such.
    That makes sense.  I'll try enabling offline editing for that TIF file to force a download of the full file and then try to save it to the camera roll.

  • Can not convert this .tif file into array?

    Dear all:
    I am driven crazy by a set of image files. It is a .tif format file. I could open it fine in ImageJ however when I tried to open it in Labview and tried to convert it from .tif to a 2d array. I noticed that a lot of the data are out of the range and to my surprise, some data are negative valued. I checked in ImageJ and it is not showing any negative pixel values.
    I am attaching some snapshots and the original file. Please help me or any advice would be appreciated.
    Seems that there are some file type problems.

    Put the TIFF in a ZIP file and you can post it.  You probably won't get much compression, but the forums will then accept it.

  • Color problem converting .tif to .jpg

    I've batch converted 300 .tif's to .jpg's. My client says the
    images now have an inaccurate pink hue. Is there something I don't
    know about here?

    The Fireworks "better quality' setting corresponds to
    Quality: 80
    Smoothing: No Smoothing
    Sharpen color edges (checked)
    Remove unused colors (checked)
    If I open a 66k .jpg image I have previously saved at Quality
    in the high 90s, "better quality" will result in a .jpg at 16k
    file. I usually export with quality above 90; 80 seems extreme for
    all but the softest of images. If I was going to save .jpgs of
    artwork, I wouldn't use the "better quality" setting.
    What you need to do is understand what your setting are. I'm
    pretty sure you can set the parameters for your batch conversion to
    be whatever you want. Experiment with a few of the images you have
    to determine what is optimal
    for your images and define a new export preset (or more than
    one) to use. Images with higher contrast (either luminance or
    color) will need a higher quality setting to achieve the same
    relative faithfulness in reproduction.

  • Converting Tif file to GIF or JPEG

    Could you provide me with an example to convert a TIF file to GIF or JPEG with the JIMI or tell me of a good link where I can learn how to do this?. I downloaded the JIMI library but I cannot find documentation or a clear example to carry out this conversion.

    Do you know how the JIMI converts multi-paged TIF files into several JPEG or GIG files? The Jimireader could read only the first page of a TIF file. But I could not get the other pages of the TIF file. The code that I wrote to extract the first page was:
    try {
    JimiReader reader= Jimi.createJimiReader"C:/MRFleSto/4.tif");
    i = reader.getNumberOfImages();
    java.awt.Image img = reader.getImage();
    .... more code to put the image in a call to convert it
    reader.close();
    } catch(Exception e){}
    It turns out that i (the number of images) returns -1; never the total number of pages in the file. Also the getNextImage method of the JimiReader is "protected" (that is, removed from the class) and cannot be used.

  • Converting TIF to JPG messes with colour

    Hi. I just purchased a program called Bracketeer (a really awesome program for making HDR photos), but it is only able to output images in TIF format. I want to save some harddrive space, so I tried to convert these TIFs to JPG with Preview, but doing this conversion makes the photo darker. I also tried using iPhoto to do the conversion but the same thing happened.
    I also tried using Preview to convert the TIF to a PNG and JPEG-2000 and in both cases it worked fine (the converted images look exactly the same as the TIF). Something else I found is that I could convert the PNG to a JPG (so start as TIF, convert to PNG, then convert the PNG to JPG) and the image still looked fine. Because PNG is lossless I'll probably continue using this method to convert the TIFs to JPGs, but I'm wondering why Preview and iPhoto can't properly convert the TIF directly to JPG?
    -Eric

    My guess is that this "Bracketeer" application fails to embed a relevant ICC profile in its output and Preview is filling in the blanks with a default profile that does not accurately describe the color space of the image. Can you post an example TIFF?

                ex.printStackTrace();
    }anyone know why i get only a black jpeg ? is there an other way to transform the tif ?
    thanks a lot !!

    As much as I love Jimi Hendrix, I don't know if it's the preferred choice. The standard way to do image I/O in J2SE is to use ImageIO and other classes of the packages javax.imageio.*
    One things that's annoying is that the J2SE isn't shipped with a TIFF reader or writer, just JPEG, PNG, BMP, WBMP and GIF:
    [http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/api/javax/imageio/package-summary.html]
    To get more reader and writers, you have to download "Java Advanced Imaging-Image I/O"

    Hello;
    I wanto to convert a Tif image to png and show this in my web page but i dont want to save the png iamge in my server.
    Actualy i do that:

    //                 Check the number of pages
                    int IFDs = tifDecoder.getNumPages();
    //                 Get the first page
                    RenderedImage ren = tifDecoder.decodeAsRenderedImage(1);
                    byte[] bytes2 = doSingleConversion(ren);AND
    protected byte[] doSingleConversion(RenderedImage tifImage) throws Exception
              byte[] bytes = null;
              String out = "temp.png";
              try {
                   //      Create the PNG file
                   PNGEncodeParam pngParm = PNGEncodeParam.getDefaultEncodeParam(tifImage);
                   JAI.create("filestore", tifImage, out, "PNG", pngParm);
                   //Read the file into a byte array
                   File f = new File(out);
                   FileInputStream in = new FileInputStream(f);
                   bytes = new byte[(int) f.length()];
                   in.read(bytes);
                   in.close();
                   return bytes;
              catch(Exception e) {
                   e.printStackTrace ();
                   throw(e);
         }But this code save de image in the server; its posible do it without save.

    Numbers the iWorks program? Not sure you can convert it to that or just a list of numbers. Never heard of anyone that would even want to convert an Image file, Photo, to any other format. Other then another image format like JPG, PNG or a PSD Photoshop file.
