Converting upright video without distortion

How do I put upright video into iMovie without the footage distorting?

First you drag the clips that you want into the project from the Event.
Select a clip. Open the Rotate, Crop, Ken Burns Tool.
Then you have two choices.
FIT will place your whole vertically oriented clip into the movie, and will fill in on either side with black bars. (Letterboxing).
CROP will make your vertically oriented video fill the landscape screen by chopping off the top and bottom of your clip.

  • Convert mpeg videos without changing original date

    Hi
I'm trying to convert my mpeg videos to mp4 or other, so as i can import them to iphoto and display them in a slideshow. i want to play the videos and photos (jpegs) in the sequence they have been taken, so i would need to keep the original date and time in the file or keep somewhere the shooting date and time and have iphoto play them in this order (not the file date and time order, which possibility, by the way, i haven't found).
I noticed that when i convert, not only the file date and time are changed to the present, but the original date and time too.
    Help is welcome.

Unlike photos movies do not have EXIF data to tell their dates, etc so the file date is used - I do not think that batch change date and time will fix this but it is worth a try - and try changing the date/time in the info window - but again I do not have great hope for that
Old Toad does a lot more with movies than I do - so he probably will have some ideas
You may have to do the slide show in something other than iPhoto - iMovie - Photo Presenter http://www.boinx.com/photopresenter/overview/ - etc

  • Cropping video without distortion

Newish to Compressor - have only used it for the simplest things so far. Now I'm trying to crop video to unconventional sizes and export as squares, nonstandard rectangles, etc. Using the Geometry pane, though, whenever I 'crop' the image is distorted as it compensates to fill the new shape. I'd like to actually CROP OUT parts of the image area, and export a smaller part of the image. Strangely, when I crop from the top or bottom, it seems to look ok, but from the sides, I get distortion. I'm trying to export as MPEG-4; can it be done here?

  • Is there a way to import my STD quality video without converting it with another program?

I understand how to import the HD quality video through imovie, but cannot seem to import the STD quality video without first converting it through another program? Anyone know how to do it without the cumbersome converting process? Thanks.

What kind of camcorder did you use to shoot the video?
If you aren't sure, will the STD quality video play in QuickTime Player? If so, click Command-I to open the Inspector and tell us everything listed by the word FORMAT: as well as the dimensions of the clip.  (Instead of Command-I you could alternatively click WINDOW/INSPECTOR.)

Connect the camera to the computer with a USB cable and use the camera as the card reader. Make sure the camera is in playback mode.

  • I converted a video, now the audio is distorted

I converted a video I took on my camera to work with my ipod and it converted but the audio of the video is really distorted.

Is your Premiere Elements 12/12.1 running on a Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit computer or a Mac computer?
What is the brand/model/settings of the camera recording your video?
    Windows 7 64 bit PC
Footage taken from DVD through Adobe Premiere Elements
Are you sure about the Frame Width and Frame Height that you gave 720 x 484? Did you mean 720 x 480?
    Yes, my err.  720X480
For the Frame Rate, was it really 29.97 frames per second and you rounded it off to 29 frames per second? Or,
is the frame rate really 29 frames per second?
If the properties that you just posted are representative of your source file, what project preset did you or the
project set for the project preset? If you are not sure, please tell us the readings for Editing Mode, Timebase, Frame Size,
and Pixel Aspect Ratio under Edit Menu/Project Settings/General.
Still having problems - haven't been able to edit project.
    Thank you for your help.

  • Converted videos without sound

i have added and converted 5 videos to ipod format, and added to my ipod.
even though the videos had sound before they are not playing with sound on my ipod or on my itunes
how can i make it play with sound

The discussion of converting/ripping DVDs to iPod format is forbidden on these boards - [Terms of Use|http://discussions.apple.com/help.jspa]. I would suggest searching the internet or going to the [iPod Lounge|http://www.ipodlounge.com] to find what you're looking for, because I'm sure you're talking about converting your home movie DVDs to iPod format and not breaking the Copywrite protection of Commercial DVDs and U.S. Federal Law in the process.
P.S. Breaking Copywrite Protection is also against the law in most other countries as well.

  • How to convert mp4 videos (HD) for use on the new ipad in imovie without a mac.

    Hi,
Please help. I have many videos taken with my sony cybershot camera (Mpv4 (HD)). I have the new ipad and have downloaded imovie. I have converted the videos so they can be viewed on the ipad but imovie will not recognize them. I have a Pc (not a Mac) and have watched many youtube tutorials on how to convert my videos for use on the new ipad and imovie but so far no success.

If you are on the PC there are a LOT of video converters you can use. One of them is Freemake: http://www.freemake.com/
It's free, no ads or banners, clean interface, simple to use, and you can convert to various formats with ease.

  • How can i transfer videos without losing the sound to my iPhone 3G?

    Hi
I have bought my iPhone 3G yesterday. I have found out how to transfer music from iTunes however i can't transfer videos. I'm selecting the videos i want to transfer on the videos tab after i chose my iphone from the side menu and pressing apply. iTunes says that its syncing my iphone but it doesnt transfer the videos.
Lately i have found out a function on the advanced menu for movies as "create iphone or ipod version". When i used that it transfered that video to my iPhone however the sound was completely lost besides that action takes too much time(around 10 mins for a 3 min video and i have a pretty strong computer).
How can i transfer videos without losing the sound to my iPhone 3G?

One thing I'd recommend is that you make sure the video/audio you're trying to transfer falls within the guidelines listed in the 'Video' section here:
    http://www.apple.com/iphone/specs.html
What's most likely happening is that the file is not converted as such so when you try to transfer it, it's wanting to convert it but is unable to for any number of reasons.
There's software out there that might make this easier for you but I can't recommend anything specifically.

  • I cannot play videos on 60GB Video without it halting and muting

I have used several programs over the last few days to convert different videos to MP4 format, and while the videos play fine inside of iTunes, they mute after a couple of minutes on the IPOD itself. This has happened for 100% of my converted MP4 files. I even used a muxer/demuxer to run the MP4 files through before putting them on the IPOD.
Basically, they'll play fine for perhaps 2 minutes, but then the sound will go, the video will halt... and although the video will start back up again in 10-15 seconds, the sound won't... at all. I can rewind or fast forward a bit and the sound will come back, but it'll mute again within a minute... every time. It doesn't matter what the converting program I've used... it happens to every one of them.
Yes, I have tried converting before I used the Update tool and after. Same problem before and after. The thing that gets me is that all my video podcasts work fine. They work all the way through without error. However, converting or just finding an MP4 file from somewhere and putting it on... will not work. It will halt 100% of the time.
My iTunes is up to date. My firmware is up to date. My Quicktime is up to date. Some help here would be nice to get. I hate to have spent all that money for a 60GB Video IPOD and basically be worthless for the main reason I got it.. play all my videos on. Thanks.

    Eric,
The problem is most likely software version 1.1. You will want to go back to 1.0

  • Importing Video without Fire Wire

How do I import video from my Sony HI8 camera which is not equipped with fire wire. Is it possible to do this using the USB port and if so How. Thanks. I am a Newbee

If your Olympus software is incompatible with Mac, have you tried using a memory card reader to upload those photos? That's the great thing about Macs - you can usually do without the camera drivers and software,
Long story short, I do hobby underwater photography/video and my equipment, while it works fine, is 1990 vintage, bulky, and a pain in the butt to travel with. I wanted to up grade to a camera that was small, would do stills and video and had an underwater housing available. I settled on the Olympus 710 with the 1 gig XD card. Problem was that the salesman told me that it would download into my HP and I could use Windows Movie Maker to edit movies. WRONG! WMM uses .avi format the camera saves in .mov. WMM can't use .mov so i bought a conversion program which converted it to .mov.avi.I now have 3 conversion programs, none of which work and to tell you the truth I wanted to strangle someone. A buddy of mine has a MAC and said it was the answer. I connected my camera to his Macbook and it immediately downloaded the photos and video without Olympus software and I could use the video in Imovie. I am happy. Now I just have to solve the "old stuff" problem. This forum has been very helpful.

  • Flash Video Without Flash

Is there a way to create Flash video without buying Flash? Is
    there video
editing software that will export to this format or a utility
    that will
    convert to this format?
We want to do flash video and only flash video and would
    prefer not to spend
the money for the Flash software when we don't want or need
    to use it for
anything else. It would make more sense to buy video editing
    software that
we could use for making videos and then export to swf format.

    Hello Brandon.....
I think a number of video editing software packages can
    produce FLVs..
The main one I know of is Sorenson Squeeze alternatively try
looking for FLV compression, FLV Creation or FLV editing in Google.
Sothink Flash Video Encoder can also covert to FLV from avi,
    wmv filel types
www.videodl.org will allow you to take YouTube and google
video and covert them to FLV.
    Hope some of this helps.

  • Using my old desktop mac as a slave for converting my video?

Ive got a bunch of video i need to convert.
I took a version of imovie 11 off my macbook and tried putting it on my old desktop.  It said it wouldnt work on that version.  I think its a 10.4 version.  I checked for upgrades but nothing.
It has a version of imovieHD on it.  Never even used it.
I want to convert a bunch of video off my SD card into imovie 11.  I was hoping i could make the desktop my slave.
Any ideas on how to convert this video so i can bring it into imovie 11 on my laptop?  ( without having to use my macbook )
    Thanks in adv.

iMovieHD = vers 5 doesn't support video from SDcard (devices).
for video from SDCard, you need at last iMovie08,
or a $$ 3rd party software as Voltaic ... but, converting SDcard video with a non-Intel computer is no fun = painstaking long ...-

  • How do I convert a video to be played straight on a dvd?

    Hey there?
I want to be able to burn videos to DVD without creating menus (like with iDVD or DVD Studio Pro). Is there a way I can convert the video to a file that can be read in a DVD Player and just burn those files to the DVD disk so when my client inserts the disc, the video plays and that's it?
What would be the best process/program for this?

You can easily bypass menus in both DVD Studio Pro and iDVD and disks will play autmotically…also can loop…or not. Recent versions of both Compressor and FCP can also do this through job actions and sharing.

  • Enlarging HD image without distortion

What's the largest increase one can make on an HD video image without distortion in FCP?
And are there any plug-ins, filters, or programs that would allow further enlargement without distortion?
    Thanks!

Pixels are Pixels, you enlarge them thus lowering your real resolution no matter how you do it. You have to do what 24, 30 may 60 frames for each second I think not. But some people have done it.
