Converting very old version of illustrator

Hi,
I have very large group of ai files that starts with this:
     %!PS-Adobe-3.0
     %%Creator: Adobe Illustrator(TM) 6.0
     %%AI8_CreatorVersion: 8.0.1
     %%For: (a) (@home)
     %%Title: (A1.ai)
     %%CreationDate: (16-04-2000) (14:44)
I think their version is illustrator 3 - not CS3
All I want is to convert them to JPG, the problem is that the program I'm using to convert them doesn't recognize them, though it recognizes regular ai files.
So, Is there a way to convert them to a newer version of AI, and then I use the program to convert to JPG, or maybe directly get them converted to JPG.
Thanks!, and sorry for my English.

You might be able to open it in a current version of AI and then batch convert everything...

You are severely schizophrenic, Benjamin Root.
A few posts ago in this very same thread, you were saying:
"They definitely could use better support! " and "You would think Adobe could afford better support with their profit increasing as it has."
    Now you're saying he'd respond:
"And why not? It's cheap and I'm supporting my fellow countrymen. Just look at how our stock values are increasing, since I've taken over!"

  • Want to use my old version of Illustrator that I purchased...new version I used as a student no longer available...but it corrupts my old version.

How can I use my old version of Illustrator that I purchased a long time ago.  I am no longer a student -
New version is corrupting my old files.

    You're not saving them right.

  • Old version of illustrator and photoshop for older computer

    Hi,
I would like to buy an older version of illustrator and photoshop for my slightly older cojputer:
    Toshiba Satellite Pro U400-142 - Core 2 Duo T9400 / 2.53 GHz - Centrino 2 - RAM 3 GB - HDD 320 GB
I think that CS 2 creative suite would probably be okay, but I would be really happy to have an even older copy that ran really fast. I have win XP. Does anybody know if it is possible to buy such software now?
I qualify for the educational discont too.
    Thanks,
    J

Very risky to buy old versions. Make sure you know who you’re buying from and that you’re protected in case it’s pirated or previously registered software.
Adobe does allow for transfer of licenses but this must be done by the seller.

It should not; removing newer ones may wreck older ones.

  • Old Versions of Illustrator

    Hi;
I made a mistake and bought a used iBook. Now I can't install Illustrator which requires a Mac. I'm wondering if there are older versions of Illustrator I could install, preferably on trial to make sure it works. Please advise.
    TIA,
    beno

It's going to be difficult to find older versions of Illustrator.  Amazon or eBay might have something.  What you'll need is the install key ( if applicable ) and / or serial number.  Not sure how far you'll need to go back, but I believe v10 had serial number on the install disk CD cover.  CS versions got a bit more complicated.  I think you should be able to buy any version you want, but you can't.

  • Corrupt catalog and wanting to upgrade my LR as very old version.

I am on V1.4.1 and wanting to upgrade to the latest LR version. Only recently have I received an error message that the file is corrupt and cannot be backed up.  Files are there and have always been backed up, but when I open LR, the files appear as 'missing'.  Please help! I have my LR on an external harddrive and wish to upgrade my LR once this problem is fixed.
    Thanks

If you already have Firefox 3.0.4 installed, you must have updated the GTK package that came with the Xandros Operating System on the early EeePC's. You should be able to install Firefox 3.6.x, but I doubt if the latest Firefox 4 version will work. <br />

You should visit the EeeUser forum - http://forum.eeeuser.com/ - and ask them what you should do.
I have a EeePC 900 20GB. When I updated to Firefox 3 on the old Xandros OS it was very slow. When I installed Firefox 3.6 is slowed down even more, and I gave up with Xandros. I installed EasyPeasy - http://www.geteasypeasy.com/ - a distro made from Ubuntu. But that may not work for you, if you haven't installed a larger SSD (solid state drive) - AFAIK, the 700 models came with a 2GB or 4GB SSD and EasyPeasy filled my 4GB SSD almost immediately.

  • Converting from old versions of Logic

Are there Emagic Legacy versions (5, 7, etc) available for converting old files?

Not unless you buy a second hand version, and have an old computer system to run it on (in the case of 4.x-6.x anyway)...
Note - LP7 is generally pretty solid opening 5.x -7.x songs. 8.x and up are a bit more flaky - they should officially load 5-7 songs, but often have problems with 5.x and 6.x songs, under unknown circumstances.

    Hey there 808applecider,
It sounds like you are trying to update to the newest version of hte iTunes application but are unable to with the menu bar. This is the first thing I would have tried as well, so I would next use the following article to uninstall iTunes and its associated softwares from the computer and install a fresh up to date copy.

  • Upgrade from (Very) Old Version Premier?

I suspect this is a stretch -- I have some old video on an old computer with Premier Elements 2.
It works, but its really slow.
Is there a way to upgrade these old files so Premier Elements 12 will read them?
I tried, but it tells me the files (.prel) are not compatible with the latest version.
    Thanks,
    Tim

    Tim
We are not talking Fraps and the like where the program installs the proprietary codecs necessary for its workings.
In the Premiere Elements world, you get into problems when you leave your project in the project file format (project.prel). Likewise, most video editing software has a project file format. If you save an unfinished project in Movie Maker, you get a .wlmp file. Most of the project file formats are for sole use within its particular software. Compatibility between the project files has its problems even in "all in the family" software.
But the formats for the import video and the export video should not typically be running into these issues. Consider...
Premiere Elements does change its supported import/export file...ex add to... AVCHD was not announced as supported until Premiere Elements 7. And...subtract from...the .tga file extension that was supported in version 8.0/8.0.1 is no longer supported in version 12.
Curious thing just happened. While I had Premiere Elements 2 opened I decided to refresh my memory on its assets. Its a strictly SD low resolution type version? But is it? I was experimenting with a QuickTime export and decided to change the export settings under the Advanced Button. I typed in 1920 for frame width and 1080 for frame height. The export was a nice looking 1920 x 1080 @ 29.97 progressive frames per second with a AVCHD video codec. Now how did that happen? If you get a chance, please give that a try and see what you get.
By the way, what type of files did you import into Premiere Elements 2 and what were your favorite export types then?
    More later.
    Thanks for the follow ups.
    ATR
Add On..I figured out how I got MediaInfo to readout out avc1 (AVCHD) for my Premiere Elements 2 QuickTime 1920 x 1080 export...under the QuickTime  Advanced, I used the H.264 video codec.

  • Very old versions of Reader - security exposure

    Hi all,
We are working with a new client and discover that their desktops have not been upgraded in years. They have Adobe reader versions going back to 6.0.1 and 7.0. Obviously refresh in order, but just checking re security urgency. With regard to:

I assume the flaws apply to these ancient versions as well as to the versions called out in this article: http://www.securityfocus.com/bid/38195/info

  • Old Version of Illustrator

Can Illustrator 10 work in Windows 8.1?

You won't know until you try. You will definitely need to run it in compatibility mode. The rest is too dependent on specific factors.

  • New computer - old versions of Illustrator

I have a new computer and V 8.0 and 10.0 upgrade in Illustrator.  I've installed them but when I start it from the start menu (Windows 7 from XP), it starts to start with the box and loading files and then it stops.  Nothing.  It's in my program list but it's like it stalls and dissappears.
    Any ideas?  Thank you

AI 10 should run in XP compatibility mode...

  • Flash CS3 "slides" - any way to convert to newer version?

    Hello,
I hope this is the right forum for my question.  I'm working on a massive project of manually converting very old Flash CS3 FLA files to Flash CC or Flash CS6.  I’m required to preserve all animation and functionality, but several thousand of these files were created in the discontinued “Insert Screen Type -> Slide” format.
Is there a tool or workaround that would allow me to quickly convert an FLA file containing these old Flash “slides” directly into individual slides in a newer version such as Flash CS6 or CC?  My current process is extremely tedious and involves:
opening up the original file in CS3
selecting one of the many slides within the file
copying all Frames from each slide within original file
creating a new Flash file in a newer version of Flash for EACH ORIGINAL SLIDE
In the new Flash file: creating Layers to duplicate all Layers of EACH slide in original Flash file
copying EACH SLIDE’S individual frames and pasting them into similarly named Layers in a new file
unfortunately, half the time the animation is not preserved and I end up recreating the slide from scratch
There must be a more efficient way!  Surely there is a way to preserve the endless hours of animation done by the original creators.  Is there a tool that will export say, 100 slides into 100 new individual Flash files?  I’ve used Captivate and Dreamweaver for years but I’m relatively new to Flash, so maybe I’m overlooking a simple solution.
    Any assistance would be appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Lisa

Save as a Flash 8 FLA, then find someone with Flash 8 to save
it as a Flash 7 FLA.
