sure, purchase a licence from www.flip4mac.com for their plug-in, which teaches any Quicktime based software wmv handling ..
Plan B) purchase VisualHub (half the price of flip4mac) and use it as external, standalone converter..

  • Converting video files for zen

    }Hello,
I recently sold my old desktop and purchased a laptop. I need to obtain software that will convert my video files to suitable files for my creative zen. I will be putting them on the external memory card thats in my zen, so what program can I use to convert the video files on my laptop first before putting onto the memory card?
    Thanks!

"Re: Converting video files for zen?Use the Creative Video Converter. ?You can download it from the Creative Support website. ?If you have the Creative Zen (i.e., the credit card sized one that was released after the Zen Vision series and before the Zen MX), then use this link:

  • Converting Video Files For Windows Premiere Elements Editing

A client has given me a couple of dozen videotapes, about half MiniDV and the other half VHS-C. He's also given me a 1TB external hard drive.
He would like the drive returned with a single unedited video file for each tape loaded onto it. He will then edit these tapes in Adobe Premiere Elements on a Windows PC, and ultimately burn DVDs.
I have the necessary equipment to capture the contents of all of these tapes into FCP, but I have two questions.
First, what should I convert these files to? I'm thinking QuickTime movies, or DV, since Premiere Elements can work with either of those, and storage space shouldn't be a problem; all the footage is SD, of course.
Second, I haven't connected the drive he's given me yet; if I need to format this drive for my MacPro to use, will my customer then have problems accessing the video files? Or, is there a proper way for me to format this drive so that the files will be readable when he gets it back?
Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

It's never a good idea to capture on a different NLE than the one which will be used for editing. It can cause all sorts of compatibility problems. There are even issues going between FCP and iMovie -both Mac applications.
I'm thinking QuickTime movies, or DV, since Premiere Elements can work with either of those,
Are you *absolutely sure* about that, given that a PC based NLE typically works with avi files?
As to your disc formatting questions, you can download the [NTFS-3G driver|http://macntfs-3g.blogspot.com> which will let you read, write and even reformat the drive as NTFS on the Mac. All reasonably modern PCs work with this disc format and you won't run into the file size limitations associated with FAT formatted drives.

  • Problem with video file for iMovie 4

I'm not completely sure if this is the right forum for my question, but...
I sent out some old family videos to be converted into movie files (.mov files). The problem is that they came back with each file at approximately an hour long. I want to be able to edit them (add chapters, add background music, etc.) and make copies for each family member on my computer. I tried importing the video files into iMovie, but it said that they were too large and that I could import them after buying QuickTime Pro and chopping them up into smaller portions through that.
I had two questions. First, would I be able to do this with QuickTime Pro and then use iMovie or iDVD to create the DVDs without any (or too many) problems? I'd rather not spend the money to buy QuickTime Pro and then find out it was a waste because it didn't work. And second, is there some other program (preferably free) that I could use to cut these videos up into smaller portions?
    Please help! Thanks!

Yes, QT Pro can do it for you.

You can also buy iLife '05 or '06 as none of these version has the length limitation.

  • Converting video files for the N97

Can anyone recommend a good piece of software for converting video files into mp4 for the N97?
I have tried Nero, and various other freeware and shareware packages, and I am able to produce a file which will play on my PC, but nothing which will play on the N97. In some cases the phone cannot see the file at all, other times it's there through file manager, but only plays the audio, no video.
    This is getting frustrating!
    Thanks

  • Converting video files for AppleTV and Ipod

So I have an Appletv AND and 80 GB Ipod classic.
I have some home videos that I would love to be able to play on both my apple tv and Ipod. I currently use ISync, but I have to create a separate file for the AppleTV and the IPOD as using the ipod file on an Appletv is grainy and low quality. Any ideas how I can convert my video file to a file that can be viewed on both my AppleTV and my Ipod?

Totally agree with Jolly Giant. Get Handbrake and use the Universal setting under the Apple presets in Handbrake. I feel it will get the best quality to have one file that works on both.

  • Need help in converting video files for Zen Micr

I bought my Zen Micro M to the HQ for servicing and I learnt that there's actually a video converter when we install the creative media source into our PC. Now my problem is that I did not see any converter except the audio converter. What should I do? Or do I have to download a converter from the net? If so, can someone be kind enough to tell me where should I download the converter from? I'm a complete IT idiot -_-
    Thanks in advance!

Hey I've solved the problem myself.. Perhaps you can try to reinstall the software again.. That's what I did and I saw a Media Toolbox with video converter inside. Hope that helps!!

  • Do PSP converted videos work for the ipod?

I heard that videos already converted for the PSP also work for the ipod. Is this true? Please i really need you to answer this jsut a simple yes or no if you can. Thxs.....

Um for the most part. The correct file format for the iPod is MP4. The PSP also uses this, but I think it can use some other formats too. There are a few programs out there that you can use to convert video files for both the PSP and iPod. If you are using a Mac I suggest ffmpegx. If you are using a PC, the go with the PSPvideo9. If you download these and either one of them is confusing to you, repost back here and I'll see if I can unconfuse you. Good luck!

  • How do you convert .AVI files for using in iMovie without losing the original clip time and date

Hi everyone! does anyone know how to convert .AVI files for using in iMovie without losing the original clip time and date? Handbrake, MPEG Streamclip and Evon all replace the original timecode with the date of modification. This is very frustrating when you are trying to keep the chronology right. I know that if you upload the files to iMovie from one device the chronology isn't a problem, but I'm adding video files from a couple of iPhones and a couple of camcorders. any help much appeciated.

  • Converting video files to mp4 for nano 3rd gen

I'm trying to find a quick, easy, hassle free way of converting video files such as mpg and avi to mp4 so that i can watch them on my new ipod nano.
Anyone got any suggestions and ideas?

    Ricktoronto and others,
Thanks for all the advice! I do have MPEG Streamclip and I'd thought about it, but have not really used it all that much. I didn't spend a whole lot of time looking at it but just did now and see that you convert to Quicktime and in there, you select Apple MPEG-4 and do all your adjustments. Now my version says that it will convert to H264. Does that function not work right?
The bottom line though is I ended up returning the Video iPod. The biggest drawback is the fact that it does not have Firewire as all I have are Macs with USB 1.1. I could upgrade my Blue & White G3 and put a USB 2.0 card in it but that machine would be REAL slow to convert video. And my iMac of course, can't be upgraded. If I had USB 2.0 or the iPod had Firewire, I would have kept it....
Still, I'll mess with the conversion programs and see what works best. I'll figure out how to do everything and then once I'm up to speed, maybe consider getting one.

  • Converting wmv files for use in imovie 9 for users who have pc

To convert wmv files use your pc windows movie maker. (if you have one) On your pc, open windows movie maker, get collections and get your wmv project/video, drag it into the timeline, and then save in your computer, save it as an avi file and rename it. After send file to your memory card reader, that way you can transfer that file onto your mac!! And voila! I tried to email it but file became too large so transfering it to a memory card is the easiest. This took me days to figure out, I hope I have helped someone out there.....

I don't want to use DV because these .m2t files are from an HDV camcorder and I want to preserve the aspect ratio and resolution in the files. What other "flavor" of HD would you suggest that I convert them to since (a) I can't bring the files into FCP6 or Compressor (b) I don't see any other flavors of HD to use in VisualHub.
The whole business of converting .m2t files to a FCP6 compatible format, i.e. a Quicktime format, would seem to be one that is commonly encountered, and yet I have never found a thread on this forum that really answers this question: What is the best workflow for converting .m2t files for use in FCP? Surely, one of the pros who frequent this forum must have dealt with this issue and have an answer.
I don't want to have to recapture the files from tape all over again just to use them in FCP6.

  • What is the best software for converting video files to .ogg format?

In trying to html5 compliant I want to convert my video files to the .ogg format. After a lot of searching for video converters, I cannot find one that does this; although several claim to but actually don't. Converting audio isn't so much of a problem. So, can you suggest a tool for converting video files to .ogg format?

  • Convert QuickTime Video Files for Offline Viewing

How can I convert QuickTime files for offline viewing?

Even with QuickTime Pro, it is possible to protect a QuickTime video file from being downloaded directly. But, if it's not specifically protected, QuickTime Pro will allow you to download many QuickTime videos.
If you come across a video that is protected, you may be able to use a utility like to record the video as it's playing on your screen and then save it as a stand-alone file.
