Converting video for Pocketdish

I got Quicktime Pro hoping to have it convert some .mp4 or .mov movies I had to the appropriate format to get them to work on Pocketdish AV500e, but the Pocketdish does not recognize the video.
I was shown the specs for what the video needs to be, but I'm not sure of all the setting to pick in Quicktime to produce this type of video file.
Maybe you know all the correct settings?
Video Recording:
MPEG-4* SP and stereo sound, optimized resolution for TV up to 640x480 @ 30 f/s, in AVI format
Video Playback:
MPEG-4* SP with B-Frames with stereo sound. Near DVD quality up to 720x480 @ 30 f/s (NTSC), 720x576 @ 25 f/s (PAL), AVI file format (including WMV9 SP protected files) up to 352x288 @ 30 f/s and 800 Kbits
* - MPEG-4 SP with B-Frames AVI (MPEG-4: ISO standard by Moving Picture Experts Group; AVI: audio/video file container by Microsoft) up to 720x480@30f/s NTSC or 720x576@25f/s PAL; has not been certified by DivX, Inc., may not read all DivX® 4.0 & 5.0 files; does not read DivX® 3.11 & 6.0 files; DivX® registered trade mark of DivXNetworks, Inc.

No one here answered the question, but I found that by getting the Divx codec for Quicktime Pro, I could open my movie and then save it as Divx, move to Pocketdish and the Pocketdish would recognize it.

  • Convert video for ipod error

Recently iTunes has stopped converting videos for me. When I right click and choose 'Convert selection for ipod' I now get "Error occured while converting 'file name'. The required file cannot be found."
The file uploads into the library and plays great. This has just started happening in the last week or so, before then it worked fine. I am saving the original files as Quicktime MOV files and in the same location as they were being saved before.

    Hi mvlys and all,
firstly, I assume you mean to suggest changing the preferences under the pull-down menu Edit => Preferences and then activate the Register Card "Advanced" and change the "iTunes Music folder location" to the default at installation.
I have never changed this and do not allow iTunes to move any media to the default directory, so there is nothing to change on my installation.
The message displayed in the pop-up says: "The required file cannot be found". This sounds more like iTunes was expecting to find some file belonging to iTunes at some specific location, but cannot. Which file is however not mentioned.
Is this forum being monitored by Apple?
Can we expect them to pick up on this error.

  • Converting video for use on Sidekick

    Good evening.
This might not be the right place to post this, but here goes...
I have a 24" iMac and would like to convert videos for use on my Sidekick LX 2009. The info on the Sidekick says it will play 3GP or MP4 (simple profile). I been trying to convert using VisualHub and HandBrake but to no luck. Any suggestions on how I can do a conversion, or what settings I need in these programs, or some other program to use?
    Thanks for the help.

Try using MPEG Streamclip to convert the videos; more information on this issue is available in this article.

  • No Audio When Converting Videos For iPod

whenever i convert video files for my ipod they do not have audio. i have tried several programs, and none work. i have read other discussions about this, and found that MPEG Streamclip worked for other people, however whenever i try to convert using this program, it says "Error: Can't Prepare The Movie" Can anyone tell my why i can't convert these videos? i cannot figure it out. thanks alot.

I am not sure what you mean when you ask what the "compression formats" are.The compression formet refers the manner in which the media was encoded and, by extension, how the media must be decoded. I.e., it determines which codec (encoder/decoder or compressor/decompressor) is to be used with the media file.
If you can tell me where to find those i could tell you what they are. I can, however, play the video in itunes, quicktime, and MPEG Streamclip.Simnce the files are playable in QT, the most common place to look for codec information is in the "Show Movie Info" window following the "Format:" entry. E.g., it might say:
    Format: MPEG2 muxed, 640 x 480orFormat: Apple MPEG4 Decompressor, 320 x 240, millions
    AAC, Stereo, 48,000 kHz
i also am not sure if there is audio in the source file.Do you hear any audio when the original file is played? If not and there is no audio track (or "muxed") information, then there may not be any sound for you to convert in the first place.
how do i find out if it is muxed? If it is "muxed," the format entry we say so. In this case blocks of audio data and blockes of video data are interspersed in a single data stream (track). This is the normal way MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 audio/video data is synchronized. In addition, these formats commonly lose their audio content when converted using QT Pro, iTunes, iMovie, FCE, FCP, or other QT based "frame-to-frame" synchronized workflow. (In the case of MPEG-2 in MPEG Streamclip or QT, the QT MPEG-2 component must also be installed in order to convert the video data alone.)
most of my videos that won't convert for an ipod are downloaded from the internet. how can i find out if they are corrupted or incomplete?Internet files should always be considered suspect -- especially if they come from a peer-to-peer source. Messages that indicated QT cannot open an otherwise fully compatible QT format is often the best indication that there is a corruption problem or that the files were improperly closed at one point or another.
most of my videos that won't convert for an ipod are downloaded from the internet. how can i find out if they are corrupted or incomplete?Normally ypu would post them to a web site or FTP storage area and post the URL. If files were downloadedd from a particular web site (e.g., a QT movie trailer), simply post the URL for the particular web page.

  • How to Rip DVD and Convert Video for Your iPad On ...

Aiseesoft iPad Converter Suite is newly released software for iPad fans. It can rip any DVD files (DVD-Video, DVD folder and DVD IFO file) to iPad, convert all popular videos/audios to iPad formats and transfer files from PC to iPad, from iPad to PC and from iPad to iPad. It works similar to iTunes. So why do you always buy movies and songs from iTunes with extra money? It can help you make use of your resources.
The product is very easy in use. You just need download, install and run the trial version.
The product is multifunctional. It can trim, crop, edit video effect, merge, add text and image watermark, select audio track and subtitle, adjust video settings and snapshot.
If you are Mac user, you can choose Aiseesoft iPad Converter Suite for Mac.

To create an iTunes playlist, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select New Playlist. Or at the bottom of the iTunes source list is a + button. Selecting the + button will add a new Playlist.
Enter a name for the Playlist.
Select Music under Library in the iTunes source list to view all music available in your iTunes library. Select and drag the music that you want in the Playlist to the Playlist and then release. This does not copy the music. This creates a pointer to the music in your iTunes library only. To delete a song from the Playlist, select the song followed by delete. Deleting a song from a Playlist does not delete the song from your iTunes library. You can have the same song in multiple playlists.
With the iPhone connected to iTunes, under the Music tab for your iPhone sync preferences select Sync Music and below select selected playlists. All iTunes playlists are available in the window below. Select the Playlist or Playlists that you want transferred to your iPhone followed by a sync.
To add additional music to your iPhone, add the music to the Playlist or Playlist in iTunes that you have selected to be transferred to your iPhone followed by a sync. To remove a song from your iPhone, delete the song from the Playlist that you have selected to be transferred to your iPhone followed by a sync.

  • Not syncing after converting videos for ipod

SOS...I have an elGato eyetv on my mac and I have a few videos captured from it (eyetv) that i intend to put on my iPhone. I read the iPhone manual re videos (chapter 6 ipod) and follewed the instruction on converting so I did the " Converting Videos to iPhone by going to Advanced> Convert Selection for iPod". It seems iTunes did indeed the convert.
My question is I just put my iphone on the dock to sync with itunes but it's not doing anything. It's been there over 15 mins but no prompts etc. It says SYNCING CONTACTS WITH *'S IPHONE forerver on the top field or status bar of itunes. The cord-like thing in it is moving. Meanwhile, phone says Sync in Progress. Prior to converting the videos, syncing had been flawless.
    Please help.. Thanks!

Opppsss, i talked too early. I'm not getting a sound from the converted videos. I now remember that sound has always been compromised converting to eyetv native format to QT. Is anyone familiar with eyetv? Your help would be more than welcome as to how I convert to mpeg WITH sound.
    Thanks a lot.

  • Convert Video for IPOD

    Please someone help!
I've added a "xx.mpg" file in itunes, then right click and choose "Convert Selection for iPod". Another file with same name is then created. I copy the new converted file to my iPod, however, there's only image but no sound. Can anyone tell me why and what video format can play in iPod.

The iPod and iTunes cannot play back that type of file.
The file must meet the following specifications to play correctly.
H.264 video: up to 768 Kbps, 320 x 240, 30 frames per sec., Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3 with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats
    -or-
MPEG-4 video: up to 2.5 mbps, 480 x 480, 30 frames per sec., Simple Profile with AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats.
When you use the convert option does it create another file with the same file extension?
    What is this video?

  • ITunes fails when trying to convert videos for iPod Touch

I have loaded videos taken from digital cameras (Fuji and Canon) into iTunes (latest version) and I can view them using the QuickTime reader (also latest version). Before syncing them to my iPod 4th gen, I go to advanced options and click on Convert for iPod or Iphone. After 1 or 2 seconds, iTunes craps out with what looks a protection exception. (iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for...)
When I click to find out more details, the Error signatures says Appname iTunes.exe, AppVer: 10.1.0.54 Mod Name: coreaudiotoolbox.dll ModVer: 7.9.4.0 Offset: 000b2f84.
I rebooted with same result. The same problem occured many times, with iPod connected or not and using different videos. I tried to download the test video from the Apple site, but nothing happens when trying to download.
I am on Windows XP, SP3, fully patched.
    Thanks for helping.

    OK. Problem solved.
I removed all Apple software using Add/remove software in Control Panel.
    Rebooted.
Used Advanced System Care (free edition) to scan and fix the registry. There were over 200 problems related to iTunes or QuickTime in the registry.
Downloaded a fresh copy of Itunes.
    Re-installed.
I can now convert videos to Ipod.
Hope this can help others having similar problems.

  • Converting videos for ipod

i have converted videos in the past and it works, but now i have .mpg files (itunes lists them as quicktime movies) but when i click on the option that says convert selection for ipod, when they convert they have no sound. So i tried to convert them with compressor, but it wont let me select files that end in .mpg

Convert your mpegs with iSquint instead of iTunes, then import them into your iTunes library/iPod and they should play perfectly. Good luck.

  • Converting Videos for the Video Ipod?

ok i just bought the 60G Video IPOD, i downloaded a video from Itunes just to see if it works, i downloaded a video from Limewire, and when i went to add it to the ipod it says that it could not be added or using with the Ipod why? I need to converte it from the itunes Library? Ok once it gets downloaded into the limewire folder and i add it to itunes, what do i do next before adding it to the ipod, i am not spending 1.99 for each video that will be like 1,000 i spoend on videos..lol
Thank you so much for your help

I just got the Video iPod also. So far not too happy about the file type restrictions...after all I spent a year encoding MY entire DVD collectin and was thrilled not to have to take a laptop with me on travel.
    CONVERTING MOVIES for ViPOD.
You have to have the updated Quicktime 7.0.3.
AND then you have to open the file in QT.
    Go to EXPORT.
Select "Movie to iPod" which will convert the file to an .m4v
The movie will be saved in this mode as 320x240.
However, this process is incredibly slow. It's been trying to convert a movie in .mp4 to .m4v and it's been two hours now and it looks like it's only 15% done.
There has to be a faster conversion tool out there. For viewing a few flicks...I would have to spend days just to get 3 or 4 movies on my Video iPod.
MY SUGGESTION: DONT BUY the ViPod YET!!!! Wait till the holidays are over or give an Apple Gift Card.

  • Cant hear audio after converting videos for ipod

After i convert any video i have with itunes, it loses the audio. does anyone know how i can fix this so i can watch videos on my ipod with sound

QuickTime expects video files with separate video and audio tracks, but many MPEG formats used a muxed (multiplexed) single track that contains both. Therefore, when you convert videos in iTunes to iPod format they only show the video and no sound since iTunes (really QuickTime) is not looking for the audio track within the video track and it gets lost.
iPod plays video but not audio of some exported files

One way to work around this is to use MPEG Streamclip to convert the files to fix this issue...

but there are other applications besides MPEG Streamclip you can try as well.
