Converting video podcasts into audio podcasts?

I have an iPod Nano, so I obviously can't watch video podcasts on it. But that's fine with me because most all of my video podcasts are of stand up comedy. Is there anyway that I can just take the audio track off of a video podcast and save it as audio to put onto my Nano so that I can listen to the stand up comedy?
Thanks for your time if you're answering me.

Open the file in QuickTime and select Export from the File menu. In the dialog box that opens, select Sound to AIFF from the drop-down menu next to Export (near the bottom of the box). Add the exported file to iTunes and either leave it in AIFF format or use the Advanced menu (Convert Selection to _) to convert the file to MP3 or AAC. If you convert it, you can delete the original AIFF file afterwards.
You should be able to put the file on your iPod like you would any other music file even if you leave it in AIFF format.

  • Converted video with no audio

i used the convert video to ipod file function on itunes and it worked except there is no audio. any suggestions to why that is?

Try using Videora or MPEG Streamclip to convert the videos; more information is available in this article.

  • Converted videos have no audio??

I converted my videos to be formatted to my ipod but when I tried to listen to it the music video had no sound or audio at all.
When I play the video on itunes it doesn't have any sound either but the unconverted video does have audio?

QuickTime expects video files with separate video and audio tracks, but many MPEG formats used a muxed (multiplexed) single track that contains both. Therefore, when you convert videos in iTunes to iPod format they only show the video and no sound since iTunes (really QuickTime) is not looking for the audio track within the video track and it gets lost.

One way to work around this is to use MPEG Streamclip to convert the files to fix this issue...

but there are other applications besides MPEG Streamclip you can try as well.

  • Convert video podcast to audio podcasts?

    Hi,
Is it possible, within iTunes, to extract the audio from movies, video podcasts, and iTunes U videos? I know that I can export them into Quicktime and do it there, but it's time consuming. The reason I ask is that I download the files to my iPod, and I only need the audio. (I'm resubmitting this question because I received no response the first time.) Thanks.

Well, this is really weird but sometimes the option is there and sometimes it's not.
Here's proof - look between "Reset Plays" and "Consolidate Files":
So the real question is how to get that to show, and I can't say for sure how I did it. The trick seems to be related to whether the episode is selected or not before you right-click on it, but that's not entirely it. I think what I did was click on an audio file, then right-click on the video file while the audio file was still highlighted.
It may be easier to just open the video in Quicktime Player, and use that to export the AAC audio.

  • Convert video podcast to audio podcast

    Hello!
My ipod can't show videos. There's a weekly discussion on a video podcast, that I would like to listen to on my ipod (without image because there is no visual action...). Is there possibility to extract just the sound and produce a "new" podcast out of this?
    Thanks a lot in advance!

  • Convert MIDI tracks into Audio tracks

I started to convert the MIDI tracks in my project to Audio tracks. Unfortunately the input audio signal is very weak. Is this normal for a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro ? Anyway, working with that weak signal I raised the signal level using the Play Control of my Sound card. As a result I got an awful noise in the monitors. I canceled the action but the noise didn't stop. Now as a result I have a permanent noise coming from my Sound Blaster Play control. I found that the CD Digital output of the Play Control produced that noise. I muted that output and the noise disappeared. But I can't use the CD Digital output of my Sound Blaster. Is that a software or a hardware problem?
Any suggestion and help is welcome.

No, weak MIDI conversion to audio isn't normal. Can you give more detail as to how you are going about said conversion?
You probably don't have anything attached to the CD Digital input, unconnected inputs can pick up noise, and in fooling around with the play control you likely enabled that input (or just turned up the volume of your analog inputs). Muting unconnected inputs is a good thing to do; to some extent so is muting inputs you're not using at the moment.

  • Consolidating Podcasts into one 'Album'

I have imported a number of podcasts, into my 'Podcast' folder in iTunes.
How do I consolidate 4 'Albums' into one, within my 'Podcast' folder?

Are these podcasts from the same subscription that have become separated or four distinct podcasts that you're trying to force together?
Although you can edit the Album and Artist fields in a podcast the way they are connected in iTunes & on the iPod depends on a hidden tag field called ITUNESPODCASTURL. If you give all the episodes the same value for ITUNESPODCASTURL the order is then controled by ITUNESPODCASTID. While editing these values to link a series that has changed its feed or rearrange episodes that are in the wrong order works well, I don't think it should be used to try to fuse disparate series together. If that is your aim it would probably be better to change the Mediak Kind to Music and then organise these tracks like any other album.
mp3tag is one Windows-based tag editor I've come across which is able to edit podcast tags in audio files. I've no doubt there are others that can do the same for Mac and/or video files.

  • Podcast imports into iTunes & Podcast Directory

I have a 30GB iPod and have no trouble with podcasts from the iTunes Store (7.0.2.16). With podcasts downloaded from places other than the iTunes Store is where the problem comes in. I can get these MP3 podcasts into the music directory in iTunes, and the music directory on the iPod, without a problem but I have been totally unable to get these non-iTunes Store podcasts into the Podcast directory on either iTunes or the iPod.
Can I import non-iTunes Store podcasts into the Podcast directory in iTunes and the iPod? I am set to manually manage music and podcasts with selective update for the podcasts subscriptions.

    Hope this helps!
Well I have had this problem once myself and i figured out that you have to convert the podcast to a certain form compatible with your ipod/itunes. All you have to do is right click on it and choose convert selection to ipod. Sometimes it will manually do it though when you click and drag your podcast onto your library. I have had podcast before though that will absoulutly not convert therefore you can not use them on your ipod. Like I said I hope this helps, good luck!

  • Converting video files for the N97

Can anyone recommend a good piece of software for converting video files into mp4 for the N97?
I have tried Nero, and various other freeware and shareware packages, and I am able to produce a file which will play on my PC, but nothing which will play on the N97. In some cases the phone cannot see the file at all, other times it's there through file manager, but only plays the audio, no video.
    This is getting frustrating!
    Thanks

Give Format Factory a try http://www.pcfreetime.com/ converts virtually all video types including DVD.
has profiles for most mobile phones including the Nokia 5800 (works with the N97)
also converts most audio types and images

  • Midi(software synths) into Audio?

I heard that in Logic, you lay down midi(software synth's) and then covert that into audio,is this true and if so how can it be done? Can this be done in Logic Express and Logic Pro?

I'm not sure exactly what you're asking, but if you mean CAN you convert MIDI tracks into audio, yes, you can. You just solo the MIDI track, do a bounce, and add the resulting audio track back into the song.
If you mean do you HAVE to convert MIDI tracks to audio, no, you don't have to. When you bounce the whole mix to stereo, all MIDI tracks are also recorded to audio. That way you can continue to edit them until the final mix.

Select/highlight the ones that you want to change in your iTunes library, do Get-Info (control-I) and change their Media Kind on their Options tab to 'Music Video' - and then similarly for the podcasts.

  • Can you import a Podcast into iMovie and get both video and audio?

I have iMovie 11 and Garage Band '11.  I created a podcast in Garage Band that I now would like to use in iMovie.  I would need the video and the audio to work.

You might be able to get it to work but I would not recommend it. You would need to export the Aperture slideshow as a QuickTime Movie using h.264 codec or Apple Intermediate Codec. You would need to make sure that the slideshow was on a timed advance, not manual advance. It would be a single clip, and not easy to insert transitions, etc.
The best way to import from Aperture would be to create an Album in Aperture containing all the photos you want in the order that you want. Then, you can drag the whole album into iMovie with one drag from the Photo browser in iMovie. You will want to drag the small icon for the album into the Project. You will have all your photos in order, but you can edit them individually and add transitions and titles.

  • Can I link video into my existing audio podcast stream?

I am a podcast producer for a non-profit and have just started doing videos too. How do I link video-casts into my show's existing podcast stream? I would appreciate help.
    Thanks.

My original answer assumed you wanted to use streaming video, but probably I misread what you intended: the term 'stream' doesn't apply to a podcast. You can add video episodes to your podcast feed - there's no problem about some episodes being audio and some video.
Your video file must be .m4v, .mov or .mp4, not .wmv or .swf (Flash). You place them on an ordinary web server, just as you would with a web page, and link to them in the feed, which can be placed on the same server.
You should check that your server is configured to serve these video files - most are: enter the URL in Safari and the files should play in the browser window (you can also use FireFox but you will probably have to wait for the entire file to download before you can play it). If the browser downloads the file, or offers to, the server is not correctly configured and you need to talk to the people running it.

  • Audio podcasts going into show folders, but not video podcasts

After upgrading to iTunes 7, I've noticed my video podcasts are not going into the proper show folders, but rather just being dumped into the ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Library/Podcasts/ directory. Audio podcasts are working fine though, and each get moved into their proper show folders. Its just highly annoying, because most of the video podcasts don't have descriptive names, just the date of release, so its confusing when I go to burn some off to DVD (my podcasts directory, I keep at around 10gigs, and thats just the current stuff). Its not just *.mov, but *.m4v's as well. Anyway to fix this?

I'm finding it really annoying, because its getting really disorganized.
